West Pines Golf Club
2 reviews for West Pines Golf Club
West Pines Golf Club is a steal! Only $35 on the weekend (includes cart) for a course worth much more. Located less than 30 minutes from Midtown out west on I-20 in Douglasville.
Everything is almost brand new. The clubhouse, while small, is very nice. Pro Shop has the basics and a small grill to handle your food and drink needs.
The course was redone a couple of years ago and they did a fantastic job. The greens are some of the best I have played this year.
The course starts out with a long, tough par-4 so you better be warmed up. Some course ease you in with an easy starting hole, but not here. Playing 422 from the blue tees, be glad the drought has made the fairways hard because you will need all the roll you can get.
I found the blue tees to be all I could handle at over 6,300 yards. For you long hitters, the golds come in at 6,832 yards while the whites play a much friendlier 5,691.
This course mixes in some creeks and a pond as well as trees lining most fairways. Watch the pond on #13. You need to hit a 200 yard tee shot straight to stop before the pond (don't slice or you will find it as well). Then your second shot carries the pond to set up you approach on the uphill par-5.
My only complaint might be that the last hole is a par-3. Of course it is an 191 yard par-3 but I don't like ending with a par-3. My only real complaint is it was a 5 hour round. However, I teed off at 10:30 am on a Saturday in the summer. This course is so much better than the City of Atlanta courses and as good as many of the course you will pay $50-$60.
I plan on playing here often.

Mos def a good deal for the money. If you are willing to make the trip down I-20, this course will provide a decent challenge. Best holes are the par 4 first and par 5 thirteenth. Hole number one is tough because there is no miss, and it is the first hole. I strongly suggest that you spend some time on the range before tackling this one. Number thirteen is a short par 5, but it forces you to get there in three. There are trees and o.b. on the left and water on the right. The landing area for the tee shot narrows the further you hit it. Once over the water, it is all up hill to the green. This is an iron, three-wood, wedge hole. The greens are usually in good condition, but the fairways are usually hard as a rock. But for thirty some bucks, it's not bad.
