I had to stay here for business.
First and foremost I have to comment that I had a delay in my flight that led to me arriving a day late to Des Moines. I thought the whole flight mess would create another mess at the hotel, I was surprised that not only did it NOT cause any problems but they knew all of the details of my flight and situation, so they had a shuttle at the exact time of my arrival at the aiport ready to go for me. It felt so good to finally get the good customer service we always look for :)
It was super clean. Everything seemed brand new and fresh, with a very friendly staff.
I usually hate hotel beds they just feel so impersonal and I don't like the idea of so many other people having slept in there. But the beds here were super comfortable!! With super fluffly pillows and so so clean, made me feel really comfortable.
The main bar was a decent good place just to hang out before going out.
Something to note was that I was there with about 60 other guests and at night we all would like to go to downtown Des Moines for drinks and sightseeing, the Marriott provided shuttle service for only a dollar each person. They would drop us off and pick us up, this was extremely convinient and made me feel super safe knowing I didn't have to get into a strange cab late at night. Plus the driver would always recommend a new place for us to check out.
My only complaint, was I felt as though the breakfast and dinner buffet's were a little limited only really providing two main dishes and everything else out could be considered a side dish. I don't know I might just be being a little picky.
Overall everyone was so friendly and nice, and I noticed the other review commented on what a "breeze" check out was, she couldn't be more right!
We stayed here due to the 2 Marriotts in downtown Des Moines being full. It is very conveniently located right off the highway, with ample parking.
Checking in and out could not have been more of a breeze, and the room was very spacious and luxurious. (one slight issue: I had requested extra pillows and towels, which we did not get). But the room was very clean, the bathroom was well-lit, and everything worked - like the TV, A/C and hot water.
We took advantage of the breakfast buffet in the main dining room. There was a pretty nice spread including a guy who custom made omelets and waffles for you. They were a bit stingy on the coffee, as a huge carafe placed in front of us only yielded a cup for each of us (2). We probably could have asked for more if we had more time and wanted it though.
But, really, all in all Marriott runs a good show and you will be pleased.
