Sylvia has been called The Leonardo DaVinci of Cakes or more notably The Queen of Cakes and New York's Cake Diva.
When I saw Sylvia, I felt starstruck by this wedding celebrity. After all, I'm a girl who has been planning her wedding since her First Communion. But there is a method to the madness that is picking out a Sylvia Weinstock creation.
1. Be rich.
2. Have a vision.
3. Be rich.
4. Make an appointment for a tasting and consultation.
5. Oh, and maybe be engaged?
None of these things directly apply to me, but I still got to learn a bit about Sylvia and sample two different cakes. The yellow cake with chocolate filling and the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse all wth the butter cream icing. Sylvia is known for the exterior of her cakes but I must tell you, these were some of the richest cakes of the highest quality I've ever had.
I'm tempting to go on and on about the design of her famous cakes but you've probably seen them. They are the cream of the crop, the fanciest of the fancy. They are art in cake form.
I may never be able to afford a Sylvia Weinstock creation, but I can appreciate and agree with her amazing success and recommend checking her out. Do at least to try some of her cake if you ever get the chance, you won't regret it.
