I joined Weight Watchers in La Canada the beginning of January 2009. I have been aware of my weight for a while. However, when I stepped on the scale during a Dr's appointment the first week in January....I weighed 278 lbs.
Obviously, more than I wanted.
I have been watching my weight...and what I have been eating since September 2008...so I was 'shocked' and 'depressed' (I thought I weighed about 250) so this was a wake up call.
I joined and am glad I did. It gives me a system to manage what I eat during the week and I get feedback when I weigh in on Sunday morning. I am still going out to eat ...I just am making choices what I eat.
Regarding the La Canada location - my leader, Daryl, is a very motivating and entertaining leader. The facility is well staffed and always and has stock of items that help....
Regarding Daryl...everyone loves him....he is a good leader....and all the women love him!!!
I hate dieting. I think it sucks ass. I love food. I love beer. I love all things bad for you. I think the only diet that could ever work for me is Weight Watchers. I have had tons of friends with crazy success stories, and after gaining weight from quitting smoking I am focused. My mom is so happy that I quit smoking, and knew that I was about to start again cuz of the weight gain, so she told me if I lost 20 lbs, she would take me to Hawaii.
K. That's motivation enough. But now, how the hell do I lose the Weight?
There are two programs you can do at WW. There is the Flex Plan, and the Core Plan. I do Flex. On Core, you can choose from a list of healthy foods and eat whatever you want from that list. Ick. I dont like limitations. So I do Flex. Every food has a point value based on Fiber, Calories, and Fat. You are given a certain # of points per day, and you can eat whatever u want as long as u stay within your points. The good thing is you also get 35 bonus points to use throughout the week however u like. (I save those for alcohol). You can also earn extra points by exercising.
I like having to go in every week and "weigh in" cuz I am being held accountable, and it would be embarrasing to have gained. The meetings are optional, but you have to weigh in. I sit through the meetings cuz they motivate me, and everyone shares recipes, and helpful tips. Its only like $10-$12 per week, and you can eat whatever you want...just track! It teaches you portion control, which I most def need. And you learn to fulfill your hunger with healthier foods cuz they are low in points, and you can eat more.
Well.....let's hope this works, I'll keep y'all posted.

The meetings here are pretty good. They motivate everyone in the audience. The Tuesday night meetings are really packed. I reccommend Tuesday nights for those interested in a motivater and if they want to lose weight!
