My fiance and I are both quite into photography, him more than me, but photography for our wedding is definitely a top priority. We both agreed that we wanted someone who would be great at getting candid shots, and for me, I wanted someone that has a good eye (ie artistic with their way of shooting). My fiance Tim, ended up finding IQphoto and I was honestly impressed with their work on their website. Later when we went to meet with Joseph at the studio, we were shown sample albums of weddings that Alex (who we were assigned to on our package we were considering) shot locally and destination weddings, and I was just blown away. I knew I wanted this guy to shoot our wedding in June. Sure they might be on the upper end in terms of pricing, but still very reasonable for what you get. I think it's totally worth it knowing you are getting great photos for your special day.
For the longest time, Tim debated on whether or not to take formal engagement photos. After some convincing on my part, we decided to sign up to have Alex shoot our engagement photos as well, and tossed that into our already booked wedding package (engagement shoot is discounted if you do both wedding and engagement with them) . We actually just had our first session last week and I had so much fun. Neither of us had a chance to meet Alex when we were at the studio because he was so busy, so I was a little worried it would be awkward, but boy was I wrong. Alex is very professional, very easy going, had a good sense or humor, and great at making conversation to make us feel less awkward in front of the camera. Sure it was a bit uncomfortable in the beginning for my fiance and I, but it was just because we weren't sure what to do. But as the day went on, it just got more natural, and more fun along the way. Alex was able to make us talk, laugh and enjoy ourselves a lot, truly a skill for a good photographer. What left an impression for me was how considerate it was of him to offer to split out 6hr photo session into 2 (3hrs each) upon seeing the time we had left. Our intentions were to have half of the session in East Bay, and the other half in the city, all done in one day's time. But after the first 3 hrs of shooting in East Bay, Alex offered for us to take the other half on another day so we don't have to waste time in traffic (which should/does count as part of the time you book). To me, that was very considerate, because now we have more time to take photos at various locations in SF without wasting an hour of it just getting out there. I remember leaving the engagement shoot feeling like I just had a fun, and relaxing day with my fiance and a friend. That's how comfortable Alex made me feel.
After the shoot, we requested to get a couple photos back as soon as possible so we can start making our save-the-date cards now, and to our surprise, Masha e-mailed ALL of them back to us in a week! I was very satisfied with the products from the engagement shoot, and not to mention they are very responsive via e-mail to my fiance, also another plus! Tim and I rarely get good pictures together because one of us is usually behind the camera, so I was so excited to see many great photos of us together. The photos that Alex took were very natural, artistic and definitely had some great candid's, just what I was looking for.
After the first engagement shoot and seeing the final products, I am looking forward to the second engagement session with Alex, and am excited to have him shoot our wedding in June. I will write an update post after the wedding! -

After doing a lot of research on photographers, IQ photo's Alex and Joseph came up. Their art is unparalleled. We scoured websites and interviewed several photographers and their clients too. IQ photo was the priciest on the list but we were happy to get a referral so there was a level of confidence from someone with similar taste. I recommend Alex or Joseph but not the second photographer, which can be random. Ours did very little and the portraits he took did not have the eye of an awesome photographer (good, yes!) in our opinion.
Alex and team turned around the photos in record time, sent us the digital pix, and framed a few of his faves. We also got an artfully composed 12-page album. Be warned that with our package which included one photographer, engagement pix, digital pix and 8 hours, it was in the 6k range and that's with a referral thrown in. We both love photography so we sucked it up but if you're not into it, it may be hard to swallow. Spend on what you won't regret is my best advice! Pictures do last a long time. I also mentioned taking pix at the lemon tree and fountain but in the midst of the craziness of the Day, I only remembered after the fact. Not everything can be captured. Also, with any photographer, learn to open up with them so you look natural in the shots. It is priciest by about 1.5-2x.
Kudos for shooting in challenging light environment at the Church of the Nativity (menlo park) and coming up with great outdoors composition at Rosewood Sand Hill. We were wow'ed by our engagement pix. check out their site for their best work.

I was shopping for a photographer and came across IQ Photo. After a brief correspondence, I learned that they actually resize the photos to a lower quality before providing them to you if you choose to go with a package under $9,300.
In other words, to get the original raw files from the camera (the work product they were paid to do), you'd either be forced into getting a package of $9,300 or higher or pay an extra $1,000 so they don't resize the photos into a lower quality.

Joseph Kohn and his brother Alex were extremely creative, professional, and responsible photographers. They worked on both wedding and engagement shoots. My wife and I were happy to choose IQPhoto.
While searching for wedding photographers, we were looking for one that had a continuous flow of different shots. Many photographers have a set style and don't like to get out of that comfort zone. Granted, it's probably what they do best, but there is a letdown since nothing changes after looking at 2 sets of photos.
Take a look at his blog and you'll find that in every shoot the personalities and temperaments of each couple are conveyed clearly. Joseph and Alex work hard to find each couple's spark.
I had a chance to talk to Alex while my bride was completing her make up before the wedding and he said something that really solidified the reason that we picked Joseph and Alex as our photographers. He mentioned for every wedding, they have to find new shots and it's the most difficult job to do something that's different from everything else they've done. Then right there he took a nice portrait while I ate a cake. They don't stop working even while on a short break if they see a nice moment.
During the wedding, my bride and I warned him about a flash mob we were planning and he made sure he was prepared for it. He took some excellent and unexpected shots. Additionally, they are very amenable to requests for "standard group pictures" as well.
Joseph and Alex understands that wedding photography is focused on the couple. Because of that, their pictures can be charming or humorous, delicate or flashy, or all of the above. They really pay attention to the couple and gives a day to never needing to worry about finding the right shot for a wedding. They've got it in the flash card already when you least expected. -

Wedding photography can be a very personal thing. Many may possess technical shooting skills but one can only hope to find a wedding photographer to deliver that special something on your big day. I found that something special in IQphoto.
Joseph was super fun to work with. He has a great sense of humor, provides quick, clear direction and has a creative eye. I can also appreciate that he is a true professional who has done this many times before. He was always calm and cool in the middle of chaos and I was very confident that I'd have many great shots to choose from!
IQphoto delivered memories over and beyond anything I could have imaged. Thank you! -

After extensive research, we chose IQphoto for our wedding photography. We were very lucky to have Joseph's experience as wedding photographer for the ceremony in SF City Hall. He was also kind to volunteer to coordinate the more or less flash mob of attendees. After that, we lost track of him as he blended into the background to capture candids.
Then he popped out again to organize family photos before shifting to capture the two of us all around the lovely building. He gave us directions and then chose to let us go with it. We ended up with striking images that we'll treasure forever.
We wanted pictures with the Golden Gate in the background and then things got real in a hurry. Those 40 plus blocks between SF City Hall and Crissy Field flew by GTA style as we scrambled across town. Joseph snuck in pictures of us with Golden Gate and Alcatraz in the background. He also wisely kept an eye on the water to warn us in case it got too close.
Finally, he closed the show with a panorama shot of us with the yacht club in the background with his iPhone. He sent us the pic right away too. We're so glad to have Joseph as our wedding photographer. We absolutely positively recommend IQphoto for wedding photography! -

Our city hall wedding was planned with only a months notice. For a perfectionist like me, that is a recipe for disasters. I immediately began scouring the net for the best of the best in wedding vendors that might be available to take on a short notice gig without providing short notice level
service.
That was when I came across IQPhoto and his City Hall package. It was clear that he had plenty of experience in working in all different settings including his fair share of quicky city hall weddings. We must have spent hours looking through all of his photos. There is something special about them. They don't just capture the typical wedding poses. He captures moments, feelings, memories. When you look at them, you feel like you're inside the moment experiencing it alongside the wedding party.
When we met him at City Hall he and his assistant sprung into action, catching every moment with skill. He knew exactly where to tell us to go, what to have us do & when to step back and let us experience each other.
His pictures and his service definitely exceeded our expectations. He's 100% pro with a laid back and easy to work with demeanor.
The only thing I wish was that we could have afforded to buy a full package with him! His retouching and colorizing work is beautiful and it would have rocked to have a few pictures that had that awesome moody vibe that he excels at. Right now our biggest issue is pouring through the 300+ photos he sent us and figuring out which we want to use!
This perfectionist is happy. -

I just thought I would update my review for Joseph, our wedding photographer, as my review earlier was for our engagement shots.
Did he deliver on our wedding? YES!!! Our wedding location (Mission Santa Clara) had photography limitations in that you couldn't use flash photography. His shots during our ceremony were amazing and doing all within the rules of our venue. I've seen other wedding photographers try and shoot pictures at our venue, and they need to take a lesson or two from Joseph as his skills are on another level. When my friends show me their wedding albums, it honestly doesn't compare to the work that Joseph does (not only my wedding, but his portfolio). My wife thought Joseph was very easy to work with as he took pictures of her getting ready for our big day! I'm so happy that he was able to capture one of the biggest moments in our lives.
Another thing, we shot a few more photos at Hakone gardens and the pictures of us over the bridge and bamboo = priceless. We got our proofs in a matter of weeks. We were the ones who lagged in choosing our photos because there are so many quality pictures to choose from. But I can't wait to see how he designs our album.
I've had friends comment to me that they had their breath completely taken away after viewing our photo's. I follow his blog also just to see beautiful pictures. He has an incredible gift as you can see from his blog, website, and the list of reviews here on yelp. If you want to book Joseph for your wedding, I highly recommend that you book him way in advance as he is in great demand. Thank you Joseph for shooting our wedding and we highly recommend him to anyone that wants to treasure their wedding photo's for the rest of their lives.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I will try to keep this short, but what I really want to do is write a whole essay to let eveyone know how great IQphoto is. Joseph is absolutely great! He is easy to work with, very fun and absolutely an amazing photographer.
Joseph (and his team) covered our entire wedding day and not for one second did he feel like a vendor - he blended right in with the wedding party and made the whole process fun and easy.
He has great ideas and is very creative in capturing very special moments - the pictures turn out both playful and elegant.
If you are looking for a wedding photographer - really, look no further! -

Joseph is really amazing!!! I found him through reviews online and a recc from another vendor from my wedding, and couldn't be happier with my choice in photographer. Choosing a fabulous photographer was my #1 priority as I am obsessed with photography and had a particular style in mind. When I saw his photos online, I knew he must be right up my alley so I made an appointment to meet with him. I explained to him what I envisioned, that I am picky about photos, and that this was the most important part of my wedding as far as I was concerned and he got it immediately. When I first went to meet with him he showed me some of the amazing pics he has taken and i was sold immediately. He truly is an artist. He is totally professional, punctual, responsive to emails and accommodating to my needs.
My wedding was at the beautiful San Francisco City Hall, which is NOT an easy venue to shoot. Joseph is known in the City as one of the best photogs for this space, and he proved that when we were there by taking some really unique shots of us and the venue. My whole wedding party absolutely loved him, and we all had a great time going around the City taking unique pictures as a group. Joseph is playful, comfortable to work with in all ways, has a good sense of humor and helps make everything feel natural (even though it's totally unnatural to me to have someone following me around telling me how to pose). I would use Joseph again in the future absolutely.
I got my pictures back from Joseph before I was even back from my honeymoon! It was such a pleasant surprise to return home to. We went through them all immediately and couldn't have been more thrilled. THEY ARE AMAZING! We sent the proofs to our family and friends to help us decide which we wanted to use in our albums and we have so many people telling us that they are the MOST amazing pictures they have ever seen. I've already had at least 10 people ask me who my photographer was because they were just so stunning. While the whole day was beautiful, he made it look like it was a celebrity wedding with the way he took pics. The photos should be in a magazine. I still haven't decided which photos to put in albums...it's so hard to choose.
I would absolutely recommend Joseph to anyone who asks. He is worth every penny, he's fun, he's energetic and as far as I'm concerned a photographic genius.
Just a quick note -- we also had Joseph shoot our engagement photos and I got SO many compliments on how amazing they were. He has such an eye for unique beauty and found the best composition for every shot. IQ Photo is A+ and five stars in my book! -

My husband and I decided to make our wedding day about us instead of a big wedding that would potentially put us into debt. We chose San Francisco City Hall. Living in Ohio made me think that any type of "planning" would be stressful but I was pleasantly surprised. When you're getting married out-of-state with only a 1-1/2 months notice, it is important that you pick the right photographer to allow you to share the experience with everyone who couldn't be there. After reviewing the IQ Photo website, there was no doubt in my mind that this is who we needed to photograph our wedding. And they sure did deliver!
The experience alone was fun, stress-free, and easy to do! Alex from IQ Photo made the process an entertaining one! He made us laugh and kept us from taking the process too serious! He kept it light and made it easy for us to feel comfortable and act natural! (And trust me; this is a tough duty for my husband who doesn't particularly love having pictures taken!)
The photographs of our wedding were unbelievably gorgeous! From IQ Photo's website and the amazing reviews, we knew that the pictures would be creative and artistic, but ours were better than we had expected! We had a total of about 430 pictures and although we've had the pictures for almost a month, we still cannot narrow the choices down even to our favorite 200! I don't know how we'll ever decide what to frame!
I also want to add that IQ Photo had our pictures ready in just a few days! They send you a link which you can pass along to allow friends & family to view and they also provide you with the opportunity to download the pictures for yourself. This is crucial when it comes to family gifts and photo albums! Joseph from IQ Photo also recommended to me an officiant who we ended up using - Mark Hespeth at "A Perfect Wedding Ceremony". Mark was another wonderful addition to our perfect day!
Honestly IQ Photo made our wedding exactly what we wanted! Alex truly made the experience too! He was funny and sweet and really took care of business! When we got engaged, my then-fiance and I had little idea of what was involved in putting together a wedding, although I had a good idea that a great wedding photographer was a high priority.
All we knew was that we'd get married at San Francisco City Hall. I researched and found IQ's wedding photography site because it has a great page with bits of advice concerning a City Hall ceremony, which helped us form the early picture. As I watched Joseph's slideshows, my heart surged with the music and each flowing image. His shots compiled told a universal story, of anticipation, of contemplation, of great change and of course of love. There was urbanity, movement, joy, and humour in the shots -- yes, it is possible to capture all of that in stills, and Joseph is an artist who composes those moments in unique ways. I knew immediately there was no more need to look at any other wedding photographers.
Between the adrenaline filled moment of finding Joseph available to photograph us on the dates we wanted, including our day-long love-shoot in LA, and our two wedding dates, I returned over and over to his blog. I relished the chance to see new work, living vicariously through the captures of other people's wedding days. The benefit of his photojournalistic approach is that you aren't staring at static, stiff and generic wedding portraits but rather, a slice of life which you know stretches out in both directions. The blog was a great way to share opinions with Joseph as a means to communicate and collaborate on how he would apply his vision to our shoots.
Being no model, at first, you think 'whoa, awkkkkwaaard, camera is on ME, eeks!' But Joseph is so natural and confident in his work, that you start to entrust yourself to him. Then you get on with having fun, being yourself, and would-you-believe-it, when he sends you the result, you are filled with glee at being the star of some gorgeous work. As you spend these important and exciting moments with him, you really feel his support. What a wonder and honour it is to have a talented, kind and funny new friend who looks out for you, and gifts you with beautiful artworks representing your emotions, memories and story. -

My husband and I got married in April 2010, so I'm a little late writing this review, but better late than never, right? When we set out on our search for the perfect photographer for our wedding, we had definite ideas on the style of photos we liked, but had no clue about any of the other details.We are firm believers in reviews and recommendations, and after meeting with a few highly recommended photographers (and not liking various aspects), we finally met Joseph Kohn.
Joseph is a consummate professional. His portfolio is diverse with much to admire and consider. He is extremely artistic, and knows how to get beautiful shots and give you what you want without compromising the artistic integrity of his photos.
The booking process was very thorough. We went over IQ Photo's contract with a fine tooth comb. Everything was reasonable, expected, and if we had questions or concerns they were promptly addressed and worked out. Joseph was great about laying out all options and listening to our suggestions and requests. He was very responsive to emails (our preferred method of communication), and was very good at following up to make sure nothing fell through the cracks. This was especially important leading up to the event when I was in crazy bridezilla world trying to keep millions of details straight.
Although working with Joseph during the preparation stage was great, it was the wedding day when his professionalism and skill really shined. He and his team were prompt, they blended in with the background and were almost invisible, yet did not miss a thing. They were calm, composed, and proactive in difficult situations (yes, we had some drama at our wedding of course), and most importantly, the photographs were beautiful!
After the wedding, the photos were ready in a very timely manner. Again, Joseph was very responsive to to questions/comments that we had. We were absolutely thrilled with the results, and have received many compliments on the quality and artistry of our pictures. Would definitely book again, and would definitely recommend to others! -

My fiancé and I chose Joseph at IQPhoto after reviewing many different photographer's websites and comparing their work and prices. What we found is that though prices varied widely, few photographers sharply differentiated themselves in pictures. Joseph was the exception. His photos of couples at City Hall were amazing in the way they incorporated the subjects and the beautiful architecture of the building.
We hired Joseph because we were getting married outside the city but wanted some pre-wedding photos in SF. He did an amazing job using lighting, filters and the architecture to create truly unique photos that reveal parts of City Hall most residents of San Francisco probably don't know exist.
While we were there we saw another couple with their own photographer and could see how most of their time was spent in one spot doing the same photo over and over. He simply didn't have the same level of creativity of Joseph.
I worried that the outside pictures may not be so great with the fog rolling in but Joseph was unconcerned noting that some of his best pictures were in the fog. Boy was he right! Some of the most dramatic photos were at Crissy Field after the fog rolled in.
My advice to anyone hiring Joseph is, trust him, he knows his craft. -

And yes, another 5-star entry to the perfect collection of reviews... If there were an ability to give more than 5-stars, I'd surely do so. Joseph - a good humored and easy-to-work with professional. His timing is impeccable, his angles are astounding, his direction - even I can follow... the resulting photos are absolutely fantastic. Front-to-back, the entire IQphoto Wedding Photography experience was a pleasure.
Nothing but rave reviews from all of our friends and family, upon sharing our photos. And I later saw photos and angles that I didn't even realize he was taking... he's incredibly stealth! So many great candid shots... ... moments that could've easily slipped by, but Joseph captured them as if he had planned them far in advance.
I admire and envy Joseph - here is a man who obviously loves his craft - and it shows in his fun, personable spirit and in his fine work. He got my 3 year old nephew (who's an absolute terror) to settle down long enough to take a few family photos... and great photos they were! Dare I say, he's a miracle worker too? I was shocked. SHOCKED! Not that he'd want to, but he could probably run a successful daycare too.
If you're looking for a wedding photographer - look no further. Seriously. Epic photos... great memories... fun times... ... I've always said we reside in one of the most beautiful places in the world... and Joseph's work not only reinforces that notion, but also heightens my appreciation and admiration of San Francisco.

Joseph is an absolute professional and a great wedding photographer. We came to him with very specific needs, which incorporated doing an indian and american wedding. Joseph really knows his stuff and the indian culture. I have seen many photographers coming in the way of the ceremonies or people, but IQPhoto (Joseph) and his team were absolutely silent. I didn't know where they were, but they got great pictures and captured all the important details. I am so happy that i got iqPhoto - its true marriage is only once in a lifetime so get it right!

The one thing that will stay with you forever after the flowers die, the cake is gone, the food is eaten, the dress is worn.............. is your photos. This will freeze the most important day of your life forever in time,........... as beautiful as you were, as perfect as the day went, as priceless as the event was. If there is one thing you should spend on your wedding, it is the most gifted wedding photographer out there - Joseph.
There are very few vendors that I praise about and would recommend in a heart beat. Joseph is one. He is truly amazing. -

My husband and I got married in December of 2006. Since we were both living in socal, it was hard for us to actually go out and meet a photographer to book for our wedding which was going to be taking place in the bay area. So, what does any normal bride do? She sends her parents to check out the photographer and his work for her :) Luckily, my parents have great taste, and they called me back after meeting with Joseph saying that his work was really good, that they felt comfortable with him and that they thought he'd be a good choice. After thinking about it, we decided...why not?
What really got us hooked on Joseph at first was his before & after slideshow on the website. What awesome work! We talked to a friend who is into graphics and such and he even said, "wow..this guy is good". So with that, we were set on booking Joseph.
We ended up having a couple of engagement sessions. One was experimental (both for him and us) because we wanted to do a night time session in SF. Unfortunately it was a cold and windy one. He was extremely patient with us and did his best to get great shots of us, even though we didn't really have our photo faces on because we were so cold. After that session, we decided to do a more traditional session at the beach and Joseph was totally on board with that too :) Thankfully!
Our second session was even better because of the weather and he made us feel very comfortable with being ourselves, silly at times too! I ended up loving our second session and we used most of the pictures in our wedding day slideshow!
Now..for the actual wedding day. Joseph was AWESOME. He showed up perfectly on time with his assistant at my house on the day of. I remember saying hi to him in the morning..and then the rest of the time getting ready, everything was totally candid. There were moments where I didn't even know he was around, but he got some amazing shot. He did a great job doing some more posed/traditional shots later that morning too and those came out fantastic.
During our ceremony, I knew that I wanted a photographer that would be pretty much invisible to my husband and me and the guests. I've been to soooo many weddings where the photographers are EVERYWHERE...on the stage, at the front of the aisle, stepping on dresses, pretty much distracting all the guests' attention away from the couple...and I knew that I didn't want that at my wedding. I don't know how he did it, but he managed to stay invisible during the ceremony, but at the same time, he captured all the perfect moments of our wedding.
Throughout the day, he just really did a good job in balancing the time he spent taking traditional photos and more photo journalistic photos..all of which I was really happy about. Throughout the day, after getting all the formal pictures taken that we wanted, he spent the rest of the day capturing us and our emotions without us even knowing it :)
Post wedding...I remember that Joseph worked FAST. Shortly after we returned from our honeymoon, we had an email waiting with our pictures ready to view! We selected our favorite pictures for him to make our album.
Just when I thought things couldn't get any better...Joseph designs this GORGEOUS wedding album for us! I'm always so excited to show our wedding album to people when they come over :) Speaking of which...I think I'm going to go have a lookie at it right now! Thanks, Joseph! -

Joseph of IQ Photo has the best emotional and intellectual approach to wedding photography. Despite the careful thought that goes into every aspect of his work, he is incredibly creative, innovative and spontaneous.
I have watched him working and evolving for three years, and I am still amazed that he goes all out for every wedding. His work becomes original and fresh at every wedding. I highly recommend Joseph Kohn of IQ Photo as a multi-directional photographer and artist. I connected with Joseph, by chance actually, right here on yelp not too long ago. Incidentally at the time, I had a close friend of mine who had recently expressed interest in taking some boudoir-style photographs, and she was shopping around for a photog. I suggested IQ Photo to her after viewing Joseph's incredible work on his website.
In the end, Joseph actually convinced me to pose for a session as well, along with my friend, and after seeing the results, I'm glad that he did! We all spent a fun day together doing the shoot at a beautiful location that Joseph arranged for us in the Berkeley hills. Joseph and his assistant, Alex, were both incredibly professional and pleasant to work with. They offered us guidance and advice in posing for the shoot, yet also allowed us both plenty of creative license - the perfect combo.
Overall, I will just say that Joseph is a seasoned industry professional...his work speaks for itself, without a doubt. His concentration is wedding photography, and while he clearly exceeds at that, his talent extends much beyond being a wedding photographer too; he is fully equipped to capture anything with you wish. There are a lot of wedding photographers out there, needless to say, but Joseph is truly a cut above the standard. In my never-ending search to acquire a circle of exceptional service-providers in this city, am happy to say that I have found my photographer. Thank you for everything, Joseph. -

Let me share my experience with Joseph at IQPhoto. So about 3 weeks ago, my finance and I decided to screw all the wedding planning and go to SF City Hall. A week before our ceremony appointment I did a google search of wedding photographer SF and up popped IQPhoto. I checked out the website and saw the super reasonable price of the City Hall package, clicked on the slideshow and was very impressed by the quality of work. So I had my finance take a look (I learned early that the key to a successful marriage is always check first) because she didn't think we needed a photographer since it was going to be a quick ceremony and that we could go back to Asia and do one of those wedding photo packages one day.....she was quite impressed with Joseph's work and gave me the okay to book.
Our ceremony was scheduled for Thursday afternoon, I emailed Jospeh Monday and asked if he could accommodate our date and a couple of request. He responded quickly and said he was available and we could work out the request. On Tuesday, I left him a message to confirm and again he responded very quickly and said he would send me an email after his photo shoot with instructions to put down a deposit online. As promised, the email arrived and we confirmed our time to meet and I put send a deposit via google checkout.
The BIG DAY....Joseph and his assistant Alex arrived on time. They were easy to spot as the guys with all the camera's. It was a nice surprise that there were two of them to take pics from different vantage points. Joseph knows the city hall routine and many of the people that work there so he was able to walk us through the whole process. He asked how we wanted things to be done, if we had special requests or if we wanted him to just take charge and suggest things. He was very positive, not pushy or directing too much, made us feel at ease. Best of all he know's city hall so well, we were very efficient in terms of time. We got a bunch of pictures done before the ceremony with our families and then still had time to get plenty of shots at various locations in city hall after the ceremony. It's really hard to believe how many pictures we took in the hour or so at city hall.
I am not the most photogenic person in the world...I have a huge head and oily skin but somehow Joseph and Alex got shots where I don't look like a bobble-head with vaseline smeared on it. My wife (since we got married) who doesn't like attention and doesn't like photos, was put at ease after a bit by Joseph and started to follow his instructions and posed. At no point did Joseph or Alex make us feel rushed or pushing us along to get things done.
In less than a week, Joseph had our pictures ready to view online and we were able to easily download them. Communications and email were responded to in a timely manner. Joseph was accommodating to our needs and timelines.
Overall a very positive experience on a day that can be stressful. With the end result that we have beautiful pictures that captured our wedding that we can share with our family and friends. I hope that I won't have to hire IQPhoto for another wedding but would not hesitate hire Joseph to capture other special moment and preserve lasting memories from his fantastic work.

When my fiance suggested SF City hall, I googled it and happened upon IQphoto. Upon seeing the photos, I fell in love with the venue and had to book the photographer who was able to capture the beauty of both the venue and the moment. Enter Joseph. From start to finish he was extremely professional and easy to contact. I already knew that I liked his photojournalistic style, so I was confident we would be pleased.
What we got was more than I could have asked for. Not only did Joseph demonstrate his experience and his intimate knowledge of CH, he also demonstrated flexibility. I actually forgot my photo ID at the hotel, therefore delaying our ceremony. Instead of just waiting around and wasting time, Joseph suggested that we start with the photos. He has an eye for beautiful framing and uses the background to tell a story.
We received a link to our photos only a few days after our wedding. I couldn't be happier with our experience. Thank you Joseph! -

Joseph and his team were part of our July 2005 wedding in Oakland, CA.
He's easy to work with, funny in his own "Euro Mafia" way and sees things that only a professional would see as a great photo opportunity. His shots are modern and timeless. He'll work with your personality and take photos that reflect that as well.
The magazine style album he designed was exactly what we were looking for. We love our photos and still look at them to this day.

When I was planning my wedding I wanted simple, we were getting married at city hall so why a photographer? Then my mom found IQ Photo and hired them as a wedding present to us. THEY ARE AMAZING!! The photos were GORGEOUS their professionalism was great they did everything for us from being our witnesses to fending off security to directing our limo driver to a second location they were great.
They know city hall like the back of their hand! They knew all the intimate little areas to get great light and architecture. They knew that the lighting that day was good for this location or that they knew it all.
They made us feel very comfortable and they went above and beyond for these photos. I just finished looking at the slide show they set up (you buy the pics from there) and out of 364 I chose about 300 of the shots and the ones I didn't choose were because someone was blinking or it was a double.
I really can't say enough about them, even my sister and brother in law were super impressed and couldn't stop talking about how great they were. Thank you Joseph!! -

We got married in 2004. To me, the most important part about the wedding, besides my husband, was the photographer. I pored over tons of photography sites and, frankly, found most of them to be cheesy.
Then I found Joseph and IQ Photo. Joseph's work is exceptional. There are really no two ways about it. I loved how he approached each wedding with fresh eyes and seemed to capture the essence of what the bride and groom were trying to express.
I could go on and on about the photos, but, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words... Just look at the work on the IQphoto website.
Besides the photographs, which are outstanding, I've got to give a solid A+ for customer service. Remember how I said that we were married in 2004 and the photos were super important to me? I also failed to mention that I'm a total slacker and have since been really busy having babies and stuff....
So, we'll have been married 5 years this fall and I JUST got my act together to coordinate with Joseph over prints and the album. Seriously. At this point, he could have totally half-assed it, just put it to the side. I mean, the check has already WAY cleared, you know?
As time has passed, doing the photos has become this enormous, daunting task in my mind, looming ever-larger on the horizon. Joseph hung in there with me and helped to guide me into getting the right prints and album. I am so grateful.
So, phenomenal, unique amazing photos + great service... you just can't go wrong. -

when my fiancee and i decided to do a city hall ceremony the only detail iinsisted on was that we have a photographer to capture it. I know that it all passes in a blur and that in the end the pictures you have become a window into your feelings and memories. so i wanted the pictures we had to be beautiful.
i did a lot of online reasearch and ran across IQ Photo. I saw that they did a city hall package which was perfect for us. i saw the slide show and was very impressed. I instanly emailed to see if he was available on my day.
Joseph was really quick to respond which was one of the qualities that was a make or break for me with all my vendors.
Well here i am less than a week after my wedding with an amazing gallery that encompases close-up details, candid emotional shots and some very nice composed group shots. not to mention the more creative, fun shots we took all over city hall taking full advantage of the beautiful architecture and lighting.
i could not be more pleased and hiring Joseph was definitely one of the smartest things i did in the planning process. -

If you're looking for a photographer, no need to look any further. Joseph Kohn has a natural talent for finding awesome angles and shots, no matter where or who you are. We hired IQ Photo to be our photographer for our wedding, and we have no regrets about his work whatsoever, and we highly recommend him to everyone. His packages are negotiable and Joseph is very flexible, as he tries his best to give you what you need.
If you want his services though, be sure to book him asap! He is in very high demand, especially during the peak wedding season. Every photographer has a certain style, so definitely check out his portfolios on his website. Also, if you have specific ideas on what you are looking for, be open about it and discuss it with him. He's very friendly and easy to talk to, and will give you great feedback and suggestions.
To those of you who think that one should not spend so much on a photographer, think again. Odds are you're hiring a professional photographer for a once-in-a-lifetime sort of event, so you want to make sure that the photos capture the memories of this event and you don't want anything to go wrong that day. Let me just say that with Joseph, you don't need to worry about that stuff. He has the best equipment, and so much experience with these events... along with his gift for photography, you will get your moneys worth.

My husband and I just got married on November 18, 2010 at City Hall in San Francisco and it was because of Joseph and Alex that we chose that venue. Our wedding was originally booked at a beautiful golf club in Granite Bay, however I happened to fall upon some wedding photography at City Hall that was taken by Joseph, and I absolutely fell in LOVE. I immediately reviewed his website which included a sample video by Alex and I was SOLD. I cancelled my contract with the golf club, even having to forfeit our $400 deposit, but it was so worth it.
Joseph and Alex were always very quick to respond to my emails (and I sent several!!). When we met Joseph for the first time (we also hired him for our engagement photo session), my fiancé and I were 30 minutes late because of getting lost but Joseph was patient and understanding. And regardless of being late and extremely nervous, Joseph really knew how to ease the tension and help us relax and enjoy the session.
I was impressed how quickly we had the photos back and OMG they were amazing!!! Then came our wedding 4 months later and we were late again (my fault for leaving my Driver's License back at the hotel), but again, Joseph and Alex were patient and understanding. They were right there for our arrival as we exited our limo and made us feel like a couple of celebrities. My entire group of family and friends commented on how nice and professional (and funny!) they both were. When it came to the end of our session, they even went out of their way to drop us off at the restaurant where our guests were waiting.
Get this - my wedding was on a Thursday and my photos were ready by Sunday - AMAZING! I could not have asked for a better service; not to mention, my photos are GORGEOUS!! My friends and family have all said the same thing, "Your pictures look like they came out of a magazine!" And it's true, they really do!! Joseph and Alex are THE best wedding photographers EVER!! I met Jospeh two years ago when he was first starting out and he did my sister's wedding. I thought it was great how he handled all the people and was able to capture such great pictures while still remaining low key. i never really realized how important it was to get a photographer that you really trusted and loved until i saw my sisters wedding pictures...OMG. amazing. everyone that i showed them to were completely awed. Since then i've had several friends that have gotten married and tried different photographers and honestly, no one compares.
So the time finally came around me for me to choose a photographer for my own wedding...of course i went with joseph. I know that i can expect nothing less than the absolute best from him. September 2009 -

Like many on here we did our research in finding the perfect photographer for our wedding. We purchased the City Hall package and could not have been happier with the end result. We were also using Joseph's brother Alex of IQ Video so they were working together to get various shots and video moments. Joseph does excellent work, he not only captured our wedding ceremony but also the beauty of City Hall. Working with Joseph was very easy. Since they have done so many City Hall weddings they knew where to put us and how to direct us to get the best shots. On our wedding day there was some communication mix up on where our second location was going to be for photos and video. We knew we were going to Chrissy Field but our driver took us all the way to Fort Point. To many I think this would have been a huge frustration but I give credit to my wife for remaining calm and pressing on as I was very worried about the turn of events. Joseph and Alex found us and in the end it turned out for the best as we got some of our best photos there against a very unique back drop. Plus, with the fog that day I do not think the Golden Gate Bridge would have even shown up if photographed from Chrissy Field. We ended up with 384 pictures giving us a wide variety of shots, some the same with different filters and such. All in all WE LOVE our pictures and so far everyone else does too. Thank you Joseph for everything!

If you're looking for a photographer look no further!!! Yes, we gave Joseph Kohn 5 stars because he is as good as it gets!!! My sister in law's cousin had used him for their wedding and he came highly recommended so we decided to set up an appointment to check out his work! We loved his work but we were torn since this was the first photographer we were meeting with and we didn't want to rush and make a decision before weighing our options! We had an appointment with another studio the very next day so we politely told Joseph that we were going to follow up with him by the end of the week.
But just as we were leaving my husband (of course fiance at the time) and I began to discuss how important it was for us to go with someone we felt comfortable with and someone whose work was original and high quality!!! So we caught Joseph just as he was leaving and decided to book him that very night and we never regretted that decision!!!
I can't begin to tell you how happy my husband and I were when we finally received a sneak preview of our photos!!! His work captures those moments that allow you to relive your momentous event! We shared it with our family and wedding party and everyone was completely enamored by Joseph Kohn's work!! My bridesmaids were joking with me saying they all wanted to renew their vows just so they could book Joseph! He is extremely professional and very responsive which is important when you are planning such a significant milestone in your life. We can hardly wait to receive our photo album!!
I told Joseph that he was going to be our photographer for life! And I mean that too! We'll definitely use him for other significant life events; baby photos; family photos; renewal of vows etc...

I search for hours looking for the perfect photographer for my wedding and when I found IQphoto my search came to an end - and after seeing the pictures from our wedding, I was not disappointed. There are a lot of photographers out there but only a few a true artists with a camera. All of my memories have been captured by the beautiful pictures captured. Then I worked with Joseph to create a magazine style album which is the BEST wedding gift as it captures the memories, the smiles and love -his albums are AMAZING. I have gotten so many compliments on our wedding pictures!
Fast forward three years and I called Joseph again to take maternity and newborn pictures and again I was not disappointed. The pictures he took were GORGEOUS, they were so CREATIVE -- something only a true artist could capture. -

We were married on a Friday, and were able to hire him by the hour (otherwise, I would not have been able to afford it), but man oh man, our pictures were great. And I didn't even know he was there half the time! So igcognito, letting the moments happen and shooting them without being instrusive. Highly recommended!

I looked all over the Internet at hundreds of portfolios for the perfect photographer for our wedding. My husband and I had a specific style in mind and knew exactly what we wanted in our photos - street shots in San Francisco including unique pictures with different angles. We didn't want the typical stand and smile posed pictures.
Photography and location were our two biggest priorities for our wedding. Our thought process was - it's a special day, we want someone who knows how to capture us as a couple and the city we met in. We needed to find someone in tune with our vision that didn't cost a fortune.
My husband and I had a small wedding - only 26 people for what we planned on a Friday afternoon. We only needed 3 hours in a few locations - mostly just the two of us and we only wanted the photos on a website and a photo CD so we could print out what we wanted.
When interviewing photographers my main concerns were: flexibility, fair price and their attitude towards the photos. Through my research I found most "wedding packages" required a minimum 4 hour package with all kinds of extras that I didn't need. And several photographers had restrictions on "their" photos. But if you are paying for a service shouldn't you own the rights to "your" photos?
When I first contacted IQ Photo with my requests, Joseph responded almost immediately and answered all my questions. He offered me an elopement package and even let me add extra time and locations around the city. I didn't even spend my entire budget!
We discussed my vision and he also made suggestions for alternate locations which was greatly appreciated. He is easy to communicate with, flexible, and answers emails within a few hours.
Our pictures came out better than we even expected! We couldn't be happier with our choice in Joseph Kohn. Our photos are the proof of his talent. We get compliments all the time on our wedding pictures. I HIGHLY recommend Joseph for your special event. You will be well taken care of - his talent is truly amazing.

I was lucky to have found Joseph just by doing research on the web. I saw the online photo presentation of his city hall wedding photos - http://www.iqphoto.com... - and was hooked. The photos are artistic and unique. He has a great eye for color and moments to capture.
We opted for the city hall package and it was perfect for what we wanted to do. Two hours for coverage of pre-wedding, wedding, post-wedding shots outside of city hall. The photos are beautiful and we have received so many compliments on them.
I would highly recommend him and hire him again in the future! -

Joseph and Alex (his assistant) were amazing. I originally thought I'd just elope and I booked them for the City Hall ceremony. i ended up doing reception to boot and they were very flexible and allowed me to add on the extra hours. If you're considering City Hall as a location these guys are amazing - they know the place inside and out and can get you pics in places you wouldn't have thought of yourself.
They also shot pictures for our wedding at Legion of Honor and Yank Sing. I decided early on that photographs would be something not to skimp on and I'm so glad I went with Joseph!
