Oh Webster, how I miss you.
I have no regrets about going to Webster University. I was in the Communications department and everything I learned is coming up at my "real world" job. The professors are great because most of them have worked or are currently working in the industries they teach about. I have kept in touch with my professors and used much of their advice (and some business contacts!) to further my career.
I like that it's small because it gives students a chance to build better relationships with their teachers and classmates.
I really value my experience at Webster and wouldn't change a thing!
Go support the jazz program. NOW. Because it's monday night and there is ALWAYS a jazz concert monday night. It's my alma mater. I was a jazz performance major. Can't you tell?
I'm pretty sure Webster has changed a lot since I went there. When I started in '99, it was pretty focused on the liberal arts thing, and then they started doing a bunch of renovations and moving classes downtown and it's basically become seriously focused on being a business school. I think they've started to look at things from more of a money making aspect--I mean, I think they've got about as many satellite campuses as University of Phoenix now.
I had some amazing teachers and classes while I was there, and some of them are still there. I also spend a semester abroad in London, which was also pretty cool. But honestly, I don't think I would recommend Webster to people going into most fields anymore.
Webster University is my alma mater, and I am still in love with it. The Computer Science and Mass Communications departments are fantastic. Oh, and did I mention that a recent graduate of the Music Department has been voted the top new Opera talent in the country? If you are looking for a great university where you can make some real connections then check out Webster. The University features small class sizes which are typically under fifteen students. There is a parking garage that never seems to get full, and you can easily walk the entire campus in just a few minutes. If you want that real college experience, I do recommend living on campus as otherwise you'll likely miss out on a lot due to poor campus communication.
I went here! It's expensive! Some of my professors were terrible, but for the most part, they were awesome. Big thing is I actually learned a heck of a lot I use in my job now. Thumbs waaaaay up to Webster U.
Go Gorloks! What a great four years.
