Found this spot based off recomendations from the fellow Yelpers, so a big "thank you" to everyone! Have to say, even though my bill for 1 person with tip was $54 i would say the food is very good. Now before I scare everyone of on this, I ordered the lobster bisque in a bread bowl, 2 lobster rolls which were very filling, and blueberry cobbler...dont know why dessert, just had that craving I guess. Service was very good and fast, food was right on point and very tasty. Definetely will visit again when in the area, and I think you wont be disappointed as well, its definetely worth the visit there.

Today is review day for the "local" establishments. Reviewed the local pizza place and sandwich place...Weathervane fills that void for seafood. When that craving for fish and chips or fried shrimp hits...this is an easy place to go to!
The Weathervane chain has several locations around New Hampshire (and maybe a couple other NE states), but we frequent the one in Bedford. The service here can be spotty...but is usually friendly and cheerful, if not the most attentive. We have been seated and had to wait a bit on a waitress...but not very long.
As for the food...the fish and chips are quite reasonable and tasty at the same time. For $7.99 (or $8.99?) you get a nice big piece of fried Haddock and a serving of fries. The Haddock is general good, with the fries being fair.
My wife prefers the Native Shrimp, or what we would call in North Carolina...popcorn shrimp. Basically this is the smaller shrimp that is coated and deep fried. With the shrimp you get the choice of fries or baked potato. The shrimp are fair and so is the baked potato. While they are not spectacular, they make a very suitable meal for $10 approximately.
But, the really good stuff is the onion rings. My wife is somewhat of an onion ring fan...and she found these to have a lot of potential upon first trying them. While they needed to be a bit more done and crispy...they had a great flavor...we plan to ask for "extra crispy" the next time we go back.
Again...this is not a world class seafood restaurant...but you also do not pay the world class prices. This is that local place you go when you want some good fish. -

Low quality food and service. I guess I had lower expectations in dining when I was young. We used to eat at the Kittery location many years ago and the line would be out the door to get in. On a recent Sunday afternoon, I ate at the Bedford location and was disappointed.
I am being generous by giving this place two stars. I realize I've become a bit spoiled and high maintenance in dining, but this is why I despise chain restaurants....
Our server was slow, forgetful and brought me the wrong chowder. I ordered the fish and was brought the clam. He corrected his mistake miserably by bringing me a fish chowder that was basically large chunks of fish in a bowl of lukewarm milk. Both bowls were worse than any chowder I'd eaten from a can and almost unedible.
No free refills on children's drinks? Really? It's 1/4 the size of the adult drinks, and refills are free.
I ordered the smaller portion broiled seafood platter. To start, the scallops were just okay. Undercooked. The salmon was a tiny blob and was undercooked as well. Haddock was not bad actually and well, who can't cook a baked potatoe?
Not sure on anyone else's meals but all looked mediocre at best. Step it up, Weathervane. You're supposed to be a pretty decent go-to for seafood... -

This was our first and last visit to the Weathervane. Upon being seated, 2 other tables were seated AFTER us, and were attended to BEFORE us. No it wasn't busy. When our waitress did finally find her way to our table, she was disorganized and not all that friendly. When we mentioned our angst, she simply said "Happy New Year". She took our drink order and disappeared for some time. She finally returned and set the drinks down and started to leave again, my Husband stopped her by advising that we were ready to order.
We received our food, before I could even take a bite of my dish, she was there asking if all was ok, and walked away. As we began to eat, my Husband and I were discussing the lack of flavor that the dishes had, and that we would have been better off going elsewhere. My Son's cheeseburger tasted and chewed like shoe leather, and the fries were cold. The waitress never returned until we were done and asked for the check. She inquired only then a second time about how we liked the food. I explained only about my Son't cheeseburger, she did bring the manager. When we informed him of our complete lack of satisfaction in all 3 dishes, he said that he took the cheeseburger off and walked away.
I would NOT recommend the Weathervane to friends, and my Husband will not be bringing any business lunches there either. I'm not really sure how this restaurant remains in business with poor quality of food and even worse service. Not the way I intended to start my New Year!!! -

Casual New England restaurant with food that is not a disappointment. Better to call it was it is - non threatening environment [good for families or taking your grandparents for lunch] and unoriginal menu that is a much milder blander version of Red Lobster. Service is hit and miss. Not a place to avoid, but I wouldn't go out of my way for dinner here.

This is a great place for fresh seafood. Kids nights are on Wed, the cost is 1.99 I believe, and they have a person dressed up in a lobster suit who does face painting for the kids. Try the Sea Scallops, you will not be disappointed.

Went to this restaurant based on the previous reviews. I agree, it is a great place!. Friendly staff, good prices, clean. If your a seafood fan this is your place. Fried, broiled, steamed....they had it all. It was all fresh and they had a goo list of beer, wine and liquor available.

My wife and I were both extremely happy with our meal here. It was just what the doctor ordered. The clam chowder was creamy and not overloaded with potatoes, the crab cakes were the way crab cakes are supposed to be, the broiled scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly, and the single lobster pie was out of this world. In addition, the strawberry shortcake was made in the New England manner, with a biscuit, not some stupid piece of sponge cake or somesuch. The atmosphere was casual, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Our dinner with all of the above came to only $65, including two non-alcoholic drinks and coffee. I will be visiting other restaurants in this chain frequently! Thank God there's one down in Plymouth, only 30 miles from my home!

Food was great. We brought a bottle of wine and were a little surprised that they do not have a corkage fee, especially since their wine list is extremely limited. The waiter was very apologetic, but I guess the district manager (who was there that night) had very strong feelings about it. We settled with a kj wine, which was okay... But I gladly would have paid the $20 (the cost for the wine) to open my own bottle. Moving on, everything else was good. My daughters chicken fingers were late but they apologized and didn't end up charging us for them. That was the right thing to do. I will definitely go back. The quality of the lobster and the rest of the seafood was really good. Just hope they get a policy in place for corkage fees.

As always a wonderful meal of fresh New England seafood. Made a special trip to Bedford to eat lunch here, as my vacation is almost over and I have to eat here at least once each visit. The Clam Chowder was as good as it gets. Thick and creamy and loaded with clams and potatoes. Next course were the ultra sweet, perfectly cooked steamers. Served in a big metal bucket with sides of hot melted butter, they sure know how to serve them here. My brother got his all time favorite, Lobster pie. A casserole dish of fresh lobster meat covered with a crab seafood stuffing and melted butter and then baked. Wow! I didn't feel like wrestling with the lobster cracking equipment, so choose the Lazy man Lobster. The meat from 2 lobsters boiled, shelled and served with hot melted butter, fries and cole slaw. Amazing, cooked just right- NOT overcooked as some restaurants tend to do. There was so much left over lobster meat we plan to make lobster meat omelettes for breakfast! If you like seafood, you have got to visit the Weathervane!
