About 1.5 years ago, I had really long- down to my bootay black n beautiful hair.  After i stopped having a  life and acquired one of those 8 to 6 job thingies, I stopped caring for my beautiful tresses. In about 2 weeks, my beautiful hair turned into a GIANT knot.  I had stopped combing it because it was impossible to get through.  Shit was knappy like a MOther F. The first time I ever cut my hair into a bob was over at Topps Salon by a wonderful English lady name Suzanne.  She did such a wonderful job EXCEPT she cost me well over $100!

After paying $60 to go to her assitant but only to get an uneven haircut, i said no more! Then angels came down to me and directed me to We Are Hair!

I saw Brian the first time and he did such a wonderful job. Although he did not come close to replicating Suzanne's $100 haircut, Brian still managed to make me look beautiful. He gave me some useful advice on how to take care and maintain my bob.

The last 3 times I went to see Annika. She is the cutest Vietnamese/French woman Ever! I always make sure to bring a picture and Annika will try her best to replicate the cut/style. She is easy and fun to talk to. She always makes me feel comfortable and does not cost me an arm and a leg! I've spent no more than $50 including tip for a cut at We Are Hair and have always walked out satisfied!  I like being satisfied, just ask my ex's.

Now that I've found myself a promising hair salon, I gotta find myself a man!

I was torn about giving this place a not so great review as the overall place is quite nice and my hairdresser was very friendly.

To cut to the chase: my hair turned out blah. I wanted a layered cut, but my layers were blunt and choppy, and I didn't notice it 'til I got home. I wasn't even given a shampoo or anything. For 45 dollars, I'd expect a better cut. It was like something I would've gotten at a Supercuts. Would I come back here, I feel bad for saying no as I feel like I need to give it another chance but I don't want to waste my 45+ dollars. But I'm giving it 3 stars anyway just in case their other stylists may be better.

The worst haircut I have ever had.  The back of my hair is cut up above my hairline...shorter than any man's do!  This was after telling her I didn't want it short anywhere!  I asked for a stacked bob and got  completely butchered.  Anika should find a new profession.

My friend also had her hair "cut" by Anika...maybe cut 1/8 of an inch, blew it dry to a despicable style and charged her $35.  Better off at SuperCuts!  Never going back

I am always nervous about finding new people to cut my hair (especially after being spoiled by Paper Doll in SD - I miss you, Rosa!), but We Are Hair has done its job each time I've gone.

I like being able to schedule appointments day-of or next-day and they always seem to be able to get me in around 5pm so I can jump in there after work.  I've gone to Annika the last two times and have been happy with the results.  There are a billion tiny salons in Alameda so it was hard to choose.  This one is right next to Burma Superstar though...

I feel bad for Alameda Girl X. I went to Annika too, and wanted a bob as she did--and I got a good one! Below my chinline as I had asked... EVERYONE I see compliments me on my cut.

I had wanted to see Lindsay, as I have before, but it was Friday and she wasn't cutting and I'd been growing out my hair for MONTHS and was frantic. You know that feeling? Where that hair just HAS to go, today, "Hand me that steak knife" feeling? I called and explained that it was a new cut on growing-out hair, and the receptionist gave me Annika. Nervous!

She greeted me warmly, didn't show any frustration or antsiness as I took a moment to look up the style I wanted in their books up front, showed it to her and mentioned the length I wanted, and we went back to get to business.

I found her pleasant to talk to, her calling me "sweetie" charming, and her abilities excellent. I have had no end of positive feedback on this cut, and even though it's a blow-dry cut, I've found if I brush it carefully, it even looks good if I go without blow-drying it.

The only one who didn't like it at first was my son, but he never likes my haircuts at first, and came around the same day to admit it looked nice! "Nice"?!? It looks *fantastic*. I'll be asking for Annika again.

Oh, it makes me feel so bad to do this. First off, I'll state the positives:
My stylist was super nice! A great conversationalist, and really down to earth. I showed her full size picture of the haircut I wanted from one of the hair books they had there. Your basic shaggy, layered, razored, hip haircut. What I got was anything but. I got the "Friends" haircut. As in Friends, the TV show. As in, I look matronly and dated, not hot and happening. I didn't know there was anything wrong until she started blowing my hair dry. I saw her with the round brush and it looked like she was going for a bouncy bubble style, but I thouight to myself "surely not! She has great hair, she wouldn't think that this kind of blow dry is cute!"

When she spun me around to look at it, I felt so conflicted because we had been laughing and gabbing the whole time- and I HATE my cut. When I got home, I considered calling back and asking to book time so she could fix it, but I didn't. It occurred to me that it wasn't that she didn't give me the cut I wanted, it's that she doesn't have the technique to do so. Razored layers are pretty popular, so I figured if I told a stylist that razored layers (specifically!) are what I wanted that they could do them- or at the very least tell me that they couldn't.

Overall, I wasted 45.00 on a bad cut which I'm now going to attempt to get fixed elsewhere. I hate to criticize the stylist I had because I'll say it again- I thought she was such a nice person! I just hate the fact that my hair style looks like what I rocked in my 8th grade school picture.

A few months ago I made the decision to chop all of my elbow-length hair off! I knew exactly the hairstyle I wanted and had to grow out my Bettie Page bangs to do it, so I waited as long as I could, and after this last heat wave decided I couldn't wait any longer!

Based on Yelp reviews, I first called Sole Salon in Emeryville...no appointments available. Then I called Orange Salon in Alameda, got a voice mail, left a message, still haven't heard back. So finally I relented and called We Are Hair. The reviews have been mixed, and this is a HUGE change for me and my hair, so I wasn't so sure about it, but they had an appointment available, so I took it.

I arrived right on time, with all my photo references and SO ready to get all my hair chopped off. I wasn't nervous about having all my hair gone, but I WAS nervous about the hair dresser being able to give me the cut I wanted, since it was kinda hard to explain. I got Sharon (Shannon? Sharon I think?), showed her my pictures, explained exactly what I wanted to keep from them what I wanted different, and she seemed to get it right away. She never referred back to the pictures, which I originally though she should have, but she just didn't need to!

I got a wash, she started snipping, and my excitement grew. Eventually she got it RIGHT exactly how I wanted it to be....and then KEPT SNIPPING! I got nervous...I though she was gonna cut too much off for the style I wanted. Then she blow-dried it, and I realized she actually hadn't cut off ENOUGH! Then I though I'd have to get out the scissors when I got home and fix it...but nope, she saw exactly what was wrong and clipped it away. She straightened it, put some pomade in, and it looked PERFECT! I could not believe she was able to give me EXACTLY the cut I had imagined, with all it's weird chunks and lengths and everything. I so so thrilled.

Also, she wasn't too chatty, which I like in a hair dresser. Most either get too involved in the conversation and half-ass the hair, or do fine on the hair but carry on this awkward half-ass conversation that they're not really listening to anyway. She seemed very concentrated on what she was doing. We had a few discussions about my hair and that was it. Also, she never tried to push any products on me, and the atmosphere of the whole place was mellow and unpretentious.

Best of all, the wash and cut was only $35. I was prepared to lay down 50-75 at those other places. I gave her a BIG TIP though, because I was so happy. I was certain I'd get a decent cut, but also certain that I'd have to alter it myself at least a LITTLE bit when I got home, like I always had to do when I went to crappy Salon One down the street. Instead, she made my dream haircut magically come true! What a pleasant surprise!

Ah, to be a parent of both a Tween and a Teen.  I recall the spokesperson in an Excedrin Migraine commercial was the mother of a teenage daughter and that was her sole excuse for needing the extra-strength  Migraine Formula.  I don't play that character on TV; I play her in real life!

Teens and Tweens are very self-conscious, at times to the point of complete narcissism.  My older two (boy and girl) will often stand together looking at themselves in the mirror and bragging about their most attractive physical traits.  Meanwhile, their five-year-old brother will join them and start jumping up and down and making goofy faces and fogging up the mirror with his breath.

One of my daughter's most (superficially) beautiful traits has always been her long shiny dark blond hair.  Because she frequently pulls it back, we often forget how long it really gets.  We realized last Friday that it was falling down to her rear.  As a matter of fact, sometimes she would accidentally tuck it into her jeans when tucking in her shirt.  It was getting out of control.

Knowing that she won't need to be letting down her locks anytime soon for some handsome prince to climb up, she decided that it was time for a cut....possibly a foot or so off of her tresses.

Now, I should also mention that my daughter's nickname is The Cruise Director" since she has to know everything down to the exact detail and wants to be in control of it.  I fear it's a reaction against her father and I being very spontaneous by nature.  The Cruise Director feels that she needs to whip us into shape on her schedule and it will no doubt be a life project for her.

The Cruise Director picked up the phone book and started calling around various local hair salons on Saturday.  Most places were booked for the day, but We Are Hair had an opening on Sunday.  So, the next day, we found ourselves at We Are Hair.

The salon is open, airy, and has comfortable chairs.  I almost felt like I was sitting in a cafe with barber chairs on the edges near the mirrored walls.  Now, unfortunately I did not catch the name of the young man with dark hair who cut her hair who was stationed near the back of the salon, but he went right along with all of the details that The Cruise Director wanted.  Her hair looked beautiful and shiny after he styled it. AND  I mean Pantene commercial shiny.  It still is long hair but shaped, and styled.

If my Cruise Director is satisfied with the cut, then I know we have a winner.

I was disappointed.  I went there due to multiple personal recommendations in addition to some pretty darn good online reviews.  I was very specific with the stylist about how I wanted my layers done (basically, a simple trim/re-shaping, nothing high maintenance or drastic).  She cut my front layers nearly twice as short as I had requested/shown her, and once that first drastic cut was made, there was no way to go back....

This was a year ago, and when I return home to Alameda for a visit next month, I might give them one more try, only because I've continued to hear such wonderful things & rave reviews.....and really, trips to visit family seem to be the only time I can squeeze an appointment into my schedule.... I'll keep you updated.  =)

Brian is a hero. My hero.  I walked in on a Sunday and they were open and cheap!   the staff and salon looked very hip and welcoming so I figured hey, It's only hair. If they f*ck it up, I'll let it grow out.

Yeah.  He rocked my long boring mom hair into hot-mom hair.  I didnt feel like a mom when it was over and that was kind of neat.  He talked alot and was totally fun.

I was treated well and had an excellent "you pick the style, Brian" haircut and I would reccommend him to anyone and everyone.

Review Update... a few days after my original review (but forgot to write it)

If I wasn't clear the first time, I'll say it again.  I'm definitely never coming here again for brows.  A couple days after this was done, as I was getting ready for the wedding I had to attend (the whole point of getting my brows done) I noticed that all the hairs I had originally wanted to remove were still there!  WHAT?!?!?!?!  Then, what was that guy peeling off anyway?  Must have just been skin or something.

UGH!  Horrible, horrible experience.

*************************************************
This review is specific to eyebrow services.

EGADS!  I shall not come here again for eyebrow maintenance again.  The salon is cute with large mirrors and LOTS Of space to walk and move around.  But, my first shocker was when a guy actually came to greet me.  I've never had a guy pluck or peel my brows before.  But, I figured I know guys do hair well, they must also pluck well.

He took me upstairs (ok, that was weird for me) to this little dingy room that felt more "illegal" and grim than sterile, clean, relaxing, and uplifting as I prefer my hair removal places to be.  The only light in the room was a large fluorescent light in the ceiling which really did not provide proper lighting for the delicate eyebrow area.  After he put on the wax on he didn't quickly pull off the strip.  Instead, he slowly started to peel one hair at a time then whipped it off.  OW!  Talk about torture!  After he said he was done, I checked it in the dim light and foudn that half the hairs on my eyelid and above the brow were still there so I had to ask him to do it again.  This was sheer misery because I already had the image in my head that I was going to walk away with NO eyebrows.

Thankfully, I was able to save the brows and walk out with them peeled, plucked, red, swollen, and completely disappointed with the ordeal.  At least they're still intact!

Will never come here again!

I have never paid more than $15 for a haircut. Just wasn't raised to. So SuperCuts and nameless mall "salons" have always taken my money and sent me into the world uglier and sad. The last haircut was the last straw. I specifically told her i do not want bangs, and the first thing she did? Go on. Guess. She cut my F***ng bangs off. That is correct. It was awful.

A year later, after the trauma subsided, I decided to try to go to a real salon. I found this place on Yelp and me and my friend called to make appointments together. I need someone who specializes in THICK hair, I say. Because if I am going to pay $35-40 for a haircut I might as well stand up for myself and ask for what i want. The lady assures us that all the girls can do anything. Suuuure. I am skeptical.

We arrive at exactly noon and are promptly led to our chairs where Lindsay and my friend's hairdresser await. Lindsay asks me questions about what I want. Lindsay discusses options with me. Lindsay thinks about my hair. Lindsay touches my hair and puts it into different styles as she thinks. Lindsay asks if I am going to tuck it behind my ears since I said I want it very short. I respond, I usually tuck but if you do a cute cut that doesn't require tucking... Lindsay knows I will tuck anyways...

I am so excited that she actually put thought into what she was going to do!! We decided on a cut and she brought me to the wash station. I knew I was going to be in love with my haircut before she even finished. It was perfectly even and perfectly layered and perfectly styled. She took the time to blow dry and style my hair and asked if i wanted the buzz or not in the back. I did not.

And it wasn't just the cut. She is actually a cool person and not uncomfortable to make small talk with. I will definitely be coming all the way from San Francisco for another cut, as will my friend. Although she liked her cut, she was not fond of the style that she was given. Preference I guess. Lindsay told me that all of the girls have been there for years and they are all really good. And you know what? I actually believe her. Weird. Faith in a business. Hmmm.

Highly recommended salon, highly recommended Lindsay.

When I used to live and work in Alameda I never went anywhere else. When I have the time I still travel back from the city just to get my haircut here.
It's friendly, well-priced, and they do a good job.
I've never left feeling like I was cheated or they didn't do a good job.

Meh.  I ended up with an OK haircut and highlights, but it was a bit of a journey to get there.  My stylist was a minimal conversationalist.  So minimal that I really wasn't sure what exactly she was planning to do to my hair.  (And since my glasses were off during the whole appointment, I couldn't see a thing!)

The highlighting process took over 2 hours for some reason, and she didn't listen when I told her I like my hair really short and funky.  When she started using a roller brush with the hair dryer (yikes!), I realized my hair was still way too long.  She got kinda surly when I asked her to cut it shorter.  It turned out OK after I washed out the suburban blow-out she'd given me, but I don't think I'll be back.

Thanks for the bowl cut!

Maybe de-uglifying utterly wretched SuperCuts haircuts is not their specialty, but I left We Are Hair today with a poofy suburban do (or DON'T, in my opinion).  One extra star because the stylist seemed nice and was helpful, although the end result was NOT what I expected.  Excuse me while I peruse the web for hats I can wear EVERYDAY for the next two months.

P.P.S. I think I'm going to have a hair meltdown a la this bridezilla: http://youtube.com/wat...

Evening of the day of the haircut update: It's not that bad.... in fact, I'm starting to like it, and have received my first unsolicited compliment.  I have learned to request NOT to be blowdried, because it always looks stupid when I walk out of the salon, and I tend to like it better after it "calms down" a bit.

I hate PooperCuts and MediocreClips so I check this place. It's good. They give you a good 'poo. But the best part of it was Carmen.

I buzzed my hair off. I wanted to see what my hair line looked like. I almost felt sick looking at the horseshoe forming on my head. She made me feel really good about the cut. I don't know why I believed her...but I did...and it's really growing on me. (pun intended)

LINDSAY.  It's all about Lindsay, and apparently I'm not the only Yelper who thinks so.  She gave me a great cut and was even able to hold a nice, stress-free conversation with me.  I hate those salons where the stylists are dead quiet or nonstop chatterboxes who have nothing interesting to say.  Lindsay is my savior and I will gladly slap down the $60 for another round with her--when I need it.  :)

Meant to update a while ago.  On my last visit, I didn't like the streaky results of the highlights  - i had an unnatural looking dark piece of hair next to my face that drove me nuts.  I called and asked to have it fixed, and was told that they were too busy.  Then I got on the phone with Lindsay who said she could only fix it mid-week.   I explained that I had to have it done asap since i was in a wedding and was going out of town.  I was bummed that I couldn't be squeezed in even during appointments.  We are talking one foil, people!!  It is a cavernous salon so i wouldn't have been in the way...

Okay, I have been going to AVEDA salons for-ever.  Like 15yrs.
I have been to salons all over the country.  I used to work at several AVEDA salon and spa's all over the country.  I even attended the Aveda Institute-this is how much I love these products.
So to say I was happy to find an AVEDA salon here, I was so happy.
Untill the day I got my "consultation" with George!
What a waste.  Waste of my time, and boy was he full of himself!!
I will NEVER have my hair done there, NEVER.
He did not even act like he could make the time of day for me,
hello-a paying customer!!!  This is just wrong!  He should be smacked and Aveda should be yanked from this salon, seriouslly.  I will be also contacting AVEDA corprate.
Cheers!

I've gone to Jorge Perez for 3 years for highlights and haircuts until I moved away from the area.  I've always been happy with highlights, and the cut was average.  I have thick, long, layered hair, and his cuts never really got rid of the thickness, which was what I was looking for and requested.  He styles the hair nicely after the service, which I appreciated since some places don't really style your hair well at the end.  I'd definitely go back if I am in the area.

I randomly found this place after wanting to get my hair cut locally. Got sick of having to drag myself into the city each time to get a $90 hair cut. So I tried this place out. I specifically asked for Lindsay because other yelpers had recommended her. And they were right on the money. Lindsay was very receptive to what I wanted. She gave me the funky haircut that I described to her. She's cut my hair about 3 or 4 times now, and each time I've really liked it. It helps if you show her lots of pictures. Which would apply to any stylist really. I've also gotten highlights done there by a couple of random people and that turned out well. Again - pictures help. The place itself is huge. I didn't know how big it was in there. It's pretty modern too. I'm definitely sticking with this place. No more Cinta Salons or Cowboys and Angels. Finally a local place for a haircut!

I have been going to see Sandy ever since she was a hair stylist with a chair on Lakeshore Ave.   Many of her customers are extremely loyal and have followed her from her salon in Oakland to Alameda.  In fact, even if they have moved out of the immediate area, they will travel to her salon when they are in town!

Sandy  has spent alot of effort creating a great salon.  As a stylist, she is meticulous and thoughtful.  She can recall the "history of your hair" and will remind you how you liked or disliked that impulsive change you made years ago =)

I gave in.

I was trying to grow my hair super crazy long, It wasn't too long since i'd only had 2 months since last I cut it...but I had a job interview and I needed to look sharp.  So who's the lucky person that gets to cut my hair??

Having grown up cutting my own hair, supercuts and greatclips seemed the likely place to have to PAY for a haircut.  But it just didn't seem they would do me justice.  So the great folks of Yelp steered me to We Are Hair on Park St.

They were super cool, i showed up in the morning and fit me into the schedule.  I got my haircut by Tracy.  It's always nice when cute girls cut your hair =)

$25 for the haircut....not bad, when i would've paid $18-$20 at a generic place, and probably not have gotten a good cut.

I would give this place 5 stars, but I've yet to go to MR in SF, and something about Hot bartenders serving you a drink while you get your haircut by a professional hairstylist, and watching sports on big screens just seems 5 star-worthy!

Greatest cut in town for the price. I have never had a bad cut here. Very nice stylists. They sell Aveda products. You can always get a walk in appointment. Very reasonable prices, competent stylists. Nothing fancy, but again, competent. You will not get a bad cut here.

They also do great eyebrow waxing, nails, and massage.

I have a long mohawk, and I had sort of messed up the shaved sides with my own uneven clipping. I'm supposed to be in a wedding in two days, so trying to "fix it" myself didn't seem like a good plan. I called this place after checking on Yelp, and got an appointment. The guy was nice, prompt, and trimmed the amount I asked (it's surprising how many people can mess this up).

So, I HAD a regular stylist that I loved (notice - past tense).  Though I appreciated his style, price, and personality,  I got tired of his  3-4 month book outs, working me between other clients, and 4 hour hair appts.

So here I am 4 months later hair is looking a bit wacky.  With the help of fellow yelpsters I settled on We Are Hair of Alameda since this is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the house.

Veronica was very nice.(My first choice was Lindsay or Sandra - but they were all booked).  Seemingly a bit timid, she quickly warmed up as she started to realize I just wasn't going to shut up.  I came for a cut & color. I settled on an Ashley Simpson cut - black hair, bangs, long hair, a bit curly.  V gave me her own take of the cut, which was OK i guess, wasn't happy that the right side of my bangs were longer than the left.

After a week or two, I have adjusted.  I won't say I won't ever go back, just not anytime soon!

Im finicky... very.  I've really only loved Lizzie (see my review of Oxenrose) for so many years.  And I STILL love her.  Had I not moved to the East Bay and had a brand new baby boy, I would STILL head right over to the city and trade the misery of finding parking for the pleasure of having her do my hair.  But times - they are a changin.

And with that explanation behind us, let me now review "we are hair"!  :)

I live two blocks away and happened upon this place some months ago.  I couldnt get in with aforementioned stylist because she was booked beyond what  I could bear!  I had pushed my roots to the white-trashiest limits and HAD to get them highlights done RIGHT AWAY!  So I call and get an appt IMMEDIATELY!  No waiting.  I get an appointment with Van.  He is to make me blond and pretty again.  I am doubting whether he can meet my expectations - but let me say, he exceeded them.  Of course, I am skeptical at this point, so I hold off on reviewing, assuming that Van has just gotten lucky.  I wait - many more months.  The roots reappear, and again, I wait too long to get in to aforementioned stylist, and go back to Van.  Again, he delivers.  So - again skeptical - I figure "Van is just really good at making my hair really blond".  I still refuse to review.

Well today, I go in - roots all dark and hair jacked beyond belief.  I says to Van, I says "not so blond"... and I show him a picture for good measure.  Now Van and I do not have the same mother tongue, and I worry that perhaps something might get lost in translation.  Not at ALL!  The color is BEAUTIFUL!

I HAVE to write this review.  I have to write it because every time I call, Van is available.  And frankly, a guy with his skill should be as booked as aforementioned stylist!  He does a beautiful job, ladies (and gents, if you are so inclined).  SOOOOOO SOOOOO worth the paltry benjamin (don't forget the tip) for a gorgeous head of hair!

I HIGHLY recommend Van for color!  (I have never had my hair cut here because of the aforementioned (see review for) John Nieto! ;)

Love,
Sara

I have been going here for years.  The service is great.  Very professional.  Great decorations during the holidays.  I used to have this guys named George years ago.  He was recommended to me by this other massage therapist that also works there called Ed.  He has a great reputation especially for being able to cut asian hair which can be a uphill battle for a lot of hair stylist.  George left for a while and I went with a great stylist named Tracy.  She is really cool and always a great chat when getting my hair done.  She also dresses great and can really cut hair.   Will always give you great input too.  I have been going to her for a couple years now.  I def recommend Tracy and George if you go.

I wasn't impressed with the salon.  I had a color hair appointment with one of the stylists and she was awful... I asked her to give me advice on which way I should go with my color.  I gave her my thoughts about what I wanted.  She had NO IDEA... The thing is, if you're a great stylist you need to be a consultant to your client.  She seemed to be new...said she had been there for 2 years..maybe she graduated from the Alameda beauty school?  Anyways, I'm not planning to go back.  Not a big fan.

Wonderful, non-pretentious salon! I am so stoked to find George who fixed the mess that Cole from Cowboys and Angels left me with. Color looks great and the trim was just right. No nonsense and no BS. And I paid less money. Not to mention the neighborhood is great for browsing around (although parking is tough) and I got to have brunch at a great Italian place a block away. I will review that place too - Cera un volta.

I have tried this salon several times in the past several years and have always been worked in on short notice and gotten a decent haircut at a reasonable price.  If you are tired of those salons that try to up sell you on every hair product in the place and neglect to tell you that you should bring an extra twenty bucks for the shampoo girl and the blow dry girl and you don't want to go the $15 haircut route (I got a scalp infection from one of those places), then check out WAH in Alameda. Carmen gave me a great shampoo, scalp massage, and the hair cut I asked for.  She was friendly and went out of her way to cut and style my hair with care, even though I was essentially a drop in. I will definitely go back.  I was in and out in 1 hour and for one half of the price (and none of the condescension or heavy duty aromatherapy) of the last Aveda salon I went to in Oakland.

I have had super loooong hair, down to just below the butt, for as long as I can remember. Once I gave birth to my son, I chopped it off with the help of some folks from super cuts and got a mediocre hair cut from them as well. A mediocre cut would NOT suffice from something as monumental and traumatizing as cutting my beloved long hair.
After reviewing some salons around Alameda on Yelp, I decided to make an appointment with Spank. That took me about 4 days to actually talk to someone. I was too excited to hurry up and get a new look that I called 'We Are Hair' instead, and boy was I glad I did! In minutes I got an appoinment.
I came in on a whim, trying to save my sanity by getting a short hair style that would suit me... I came in with a picture and presented it to Van, a very nice and skilled stylist there...
After learniing that most stylist are visual learners, I was happy that I didnt need to explain every little detail--Van looked at the picture I brought a couple a times and started cutting...and POOF! He gave me the short hair cut that I've always wanted! He even improved on it to match my face. I was sooo happy that I returned to him again with a slightly modified hairstyle (cuz he did so well with the first one) and POOF! He created another Great cut, the same as the picture, as well as improving it to fit the real person sitting in the chair. Gave me nice highlights too.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience than going to 'We are hair'. They are professional, skilled, AND inexpensive. As soon as my hair grows a little, I'm calling Van up to fix it. He made me fall in love with short hair styles and I will be forever grateful. Also, the style I got works even w/o hair products! Perfect for busy moms like me!
Thanks We Are Hair-- and Thanks especially to Van!

This past Saturday I got my hair done by Lindsay!!!  I got a base color and highlights!  She was so nice, and did exactly what I wanted.  She even asked me if she could go get me some starbucks, and only because It took awhile.  I had never had a stylist ask me that before.  I was very happy to see the end result.  It was fabulous, the next day I went out, and everyone was loving the new color.  I will always come and see Lindsay!!!  Thanks Lindsay!!!  I even had people tell me I look like Mariah Carey (it's the hair)  I look nothing like her, although that's a great compliment!!!!   So if you are getting color, go to Lindsay, she's the bomb!!!

Great salon, not dirt cheap but very reasonable.  The reception staff (depending on who's there) can be friendly.  If you can schedule an appointmen with Brenda, do so.  She's very friendly, knows her stuff and isn't pushy about her opinions (like some stylists are).

I came to We Are Hair for a haircut, and it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that great either. I got a good enough haircut, but I was a bit unsure of what I wanted my haircut to be, and my hairdresser wasn't really interactive in helping me decide, and didn't even bother looking at the photos of potential haircuts I had brought. She wasn't very personable either, and a bit patronizing, maybe because I looked younger than I am. I'd rather walk down the street to Tomo's and get a haircut for $15 cheaper.

I've always passed by and I finally went in when I was frustrated with my hair. I went in as a drop-in and ended up with a stylist named George (?). One of the most horrible hair stylist experiences I've had. In general I am a fairly social person and I tried to engage in small talk, which was awkward. The hair stylist began by telling me how I was so lucky to even be having him cut my hair as he was ALWAYS booked because he's so talented, but that I was like some sort of victim of pity as I was a walk-in. Ego CHECK. Anyways, the person who had cut my hair prior had made choppy layers which weren't all even. The hair stylist went on to say how horrible my layers were and go on and on about how horrible my hair was. If it was so horrible and you are so talented, then please fix it or help me. I have side bangs, but I have problems with getting enough hair to part, so I switch the sides on whatever side the occasion looks better on. The hair stylist goes on to talk to me like an idiot like you are supposed to have it a certain way, but since you like it that way i cant change your mind. I try to be optimistic and I say what would you suggest?... Anyways overall environment and setting is nice and peaceful, but I would go to a different stylist. I hated my experience, I ended up with an average haircut with a diva

I finally found a great hair salon! I loved Veronica, my new hair stylist. She gave me good suggestions and tips of how to get the hair I want. She made me feel welcome and very friendly that I was able to carry a conversation. I had made an appointment and I didn't have to wait much. The prices aren't cheap but reasonable. In my case I think its very worth it. Parking in that area is not the greatest. They have a parking lot in the back of the salon but you have to feed the meter so make sure you have quarters. I will be definitely coming back.
