If Plutos and a designer pizza place mated, this would be their lovechild.
Great food, perfect spot to grab some quality grub or a drink before or after a move.
Found a great "parking spot" close by and this place is cheaper than Sam's so we decided to eat here.
Pluses:
Prices
Kid friendly with a miniature picnic table for the little ones to eat at.
The other parents aren't phased by people's screaming, crying children.
Good selection of toppings for vegetarians
Thin crust pizza (if you are a fan)
Minuses:
Skimpy on the pizza toppings
Chicken in the tortilla soup taste like pressed chicken.
Thin crust pizza only
Waypoint Pizza is cozy...nice windows so you can people watch. Service is o.k.
Their chicken slices are excellent, wonderful flavor and super tender. Wish we had tried the pasta dishes instead of the pizza because
the pizza was NOT great on the day we went. Thin crust with very sparse toppings. But most important, the pizza itself had no flavor. Now that's a trick!
I don't think we'll be back.
It was a nice place with good picture windows for people watching. They had toy boats that kids could play with. I ordered the shrimp pasta and my husband ordered some pizza. My shrimp still had the viens and i showed them to the server and she was nice enough to let me order a pizza instead. But the food was bland and was not suited to Tiburon. I wish it was tastier...
i have not been hungover in a really long time. and the reason for that is because i have had no alcohol in a really long time. whether by choice or by environment, i'm not sure, but nonetheless, the morning after an open-bar crazy-fun wedding, the hangover was major.
after nixing almost all of the options for lunch by the bf, we wandered the main street in tiburon and the smell of pizza just called out to me...can't recall what neither of the pizzas that bf or i ended up getting, but i do remember them both being really good...and just what the doctor ordered for a post-wedding hangover! (plus eating it on the grass lawn overlooking the bay towards the city is an excellent way to spend a lazy post-wedding afternoon!)
Hunger set in as the boy and I explored the Ark Row neighborhood and we found ourselves drawn in from the street. I immediately felt transported to another city based on the decor - east coast? Definitely not CA! No surfer 'tudes here - just good food and fun. After ordering at the counter, they give you a little boat toy that acts as your "number". Cute.
Oddly, when our pizza showed up, it wasn't *quite* what I'd ordered... I wanted the gourmet sausage, with the olives and white onion relegated to one half (as some parties present object to such toppings). Well, what arrived had sausage, olives, and GREEN onions all over! Whoops. Oh well, we dug in anyway, and it was great! A short time later, the owner (I think) walked over and said, "we realized we brought you the wrong pizza. are you okay with it? do you want a different one?" So nice that they acknowledged their screw up! While i don't love that they mixed up our order, I do love that they figured it out and asked if we wanted something else.
There were a bunch of tasty sounding menu items ("between the sheets", anyone?), so we'll be back!
I was really excited to try this place, based on other reviews. My husband and I both went for the walk the flank.... I have to say we were both pretty disappointed. I was really expecting something great based on what others said about it. I didn't really have much flavor to it, pretty bland and boring. I don't think there is anything that will bring me back to Waypoint to try again.
Where am I!? Nantucket!?
Love the decor. Can I move in? I'm obsessed with everything related to boats and I felt like I was back on the East Coast. So cute and quaint, I was so busy looking on the walls and picking out things I wanted in my apartment that I don't quite remember what I ordered.
What I do know is that it was the perfect place to stop after taking a little walk along the shore and a visit to Blackie's Pasture. Sorry I don't have more to say about the food, except I do know I enjoyed it. But seriously, can I move in? Or at least take the chalkboard painted on the hull of a boat w/ me?
When I went to college this was the spot i missed!! I missed the smell, the atmosphere and the food!!! Family owned and high school sailors from SFYC staff it, great local spot with really nice people coming and going. The Shamrock is my favorite.. yum.. any of the between the sheets really! Pizza here is great to but you have to try the between the sheets. Waypoint is a nautical theme with a lot of heart put into it, perfect for its location.
I am a fan of Waypoint. I grew up in Tiburon, but when I was a kid we had to go out to Strawberry to get Round Table (and we thought that was good).
I just moved back to Tibs with my girlfriend and our 3 kids, and we LOVE Waypoint. Good toppings, and the crust is thin and tasty.
I recommend it.
Excellent, kid friendly place with good pizza that even I liked. Enjoyed a veggie between the sheets which the Monkey called a pizza taco. The 10 & 5 year old finished their favorite: small cheese with pineapple. If I had all 3 we would've needed a medium. Easy parking in the pay lot. Very cute environment and great lemonade. This will be a new regular joint for this family.
This place is great. Located on Main Street that has lots of fun stuff to do (movies, eating, shopping...) , it's a perfect place to grab a bite (of delicious pizza!). It's really small which makes it cozy and not super noisy (like some large restaurants). Service is pretty good, pizza is delicious, nice and thin/flavorful. They also serve salads and pasta dishes but I haven't tried them. I always come here with friends and it never disappoints. Free jolly ranchers too!
Most places on Main Street are overpriced, but we actually found things here to be fairly priced. It's a nice family spot - after all, everyone loves a good slice of pizza.
We had the shrimp and pesto pizza and penne pasta. While the thin crust pizza was pretty good, the penne pasta was extremely bland and boring. Honestly, so bland that it escapes my memory what was in it. I only remember having nothing but pepper to season it. Trust me, don't get that penne pasta, whatever it was.
Someone here mentioned that the carrot soup is amazing. I think I'll have to try that next time, and maybe that might just up my rating.
This place is one of the cheaper places to eat in downtown Tiburon. It's a cute place and popular with families. The location is walking distance to the Ferry Terminal, movie theatre, and popular shops/cafes along Main Street.
We always order the "Between the sheets" (pizza style sandwich). We love the "Walk the Flank" sandwich which costs less than $10. The "Walk the Flank" is an open face sandwich with flank steak, garlic, red onions, tomatoes, cheese, romaine lettuce, and creamy garlic sauce. It's delicious!!
UPDATE: 2/11/07 A late night working in the Film Festival office. Way past dinner time . . . . so, of course, we got pizza from Waypoint. Once again it was thin crust, pepperoni & sausage good.
UPDATE: 12/07/07 Have had pizza a couple more times since my last review from Waypoint for meetings. They have had it when they promised and it has been hot, fresh and very good!

First time I reviewed Waypoint was on 9/11/07:
Sometimes you just gotta have pizza! And you need it now! When you live in a place like Tiburon there aren't many choices close by. . . as a matter-of-fact, this is the only choice. Thank goodness it is . . . . . Whoa! It is great!
The pizza angels were looking out for us and they made sure that we got the best! Reasonable prices and great service.
And they even have a little punch card so you can come again and again . . . .and then get a free pizza!
+1 for Walk the Flank. Any of the Between the Sheets are like big bready tacos. Yum.
I liked it. A large bbq chicken pizza easily fed 3 hungry adults (my bf, his dad, me--not all exactly the same size adults, but hey, I can pack it in, and I was particularly famished that day). Also, we took it to go, and they were fast, so that I appreciated.
A very kid-friendly environment and very unique Bay decorations around. Not a very broad menu, but still has some excellent choices. A warm and cozy getaway from the windy Bay atmosphere!
Being a Tiburon Local, i end up eating here on average, twice a month, or twice a week when i have nothing to do.The environment: a relatively laid back [for tiburon] families with kids, seventh graders and sailor/outdoorsy folks, all Tiburon Natives, the place is charming with its sailing theme and beachy furniture yet slightly cramped. The Pizzas are somewhat over priced, the vineyard salad is mediocre, do yourself a favor and order a BETWEEN THE SHEETS [walk the flank and shamrock are my favs]. If you are in the pizza mood and are an adventurous eater like me, try the Thai style. ALSO: make sure to order the fresh cookie a'la mode, well worth it people, well worth it.
Ditto on what my yelper Connie said about the pasta. The shrimp penne was about as exciting as a wet paper towel. And tasted like it, too. We were in the mood for something light, and ordered two salads and shared a pasta. They didn't even have enough mixed greens to make the salads that we ordered, so we had to order a spinach salad. Salads came, and, they were simply OK......filled my belleh and......that's it. Like the rating says......A-OK. And the kid taking our order behind the cash register...he had so little life in him, I thought I needed to get out a stethoscope and check for a heart beat. I mean......comon -- show some life kid! You're running a business!
OK, before I get started I will lay out this disclaimer. I know the owners.
She an "America's Cup" sailor...
He a poetic muse engulfed brother of above...
But hey they have a great place near "Sam's" in Tiburon. When you can't handle the crowds and need something good to eat.
Walk next door to "Waypoint Pizza" it has alot of nautical charm and a no bones direct approach to food.
GOOD, quick and affordable.
Notice I didn't say cheap 'Tom'!!
Anyway, like the other reviews the "Walk the Flank" is THE BEST!!
But the 'pear salad' is a pretty close second.
As I close, check the wines. For youngsters, they have a pretty good selection and they are priced right. Get the local flavor!!
Good pizza, but not great. Probably more like 3.5 stars, but I like the local hangout type atmosphere.
i love to get 'between the sheets'. shrimp pesto to be exact. pull up a fork and eat the tomatoes and some of the greens before you fold it in half and stuff every delicious bite in to your mouth. the pizza is outstanding too.
... and great for a lunch break beer if you have the unfortunate disposition of working in tiburon.
The crust is good and the place is convenient for our bike rides, but the sauce isn't so great and last time the pepperoni wasn't as cooked as I would have liked. It's okay pizza, kinda spendy, but everything is in Tiburon. They have some pretty good wines on the list though. The delicious Ramsey Pinot Noir we had with the pizza helped make up for the blandness of the sauce. I'd give it 2.5 stars if I could. The service was pretty good when we were there.
This is my favorite pizza place. The pizza is always awesome and I wish they were open on Tuesdays. My only compaint is the price, but the quality meets the price so you end up going back.
When arriving to Tiburon hungry I was expecting to find nothing but over-priced, touristy, nothing special eateries.. I'm glad I was wrong. Their menu was pretty diverse for a pizza place with creative choices at very reasonable prices, considering the location. For salads you have the option of ordering a half $4, full $7, and family $13. We had the transpac (I think?) and it was VERY good. We also had the pomodoro pizza which was excellent. mmm..
YAY, Waypoint!! Being an East Coaster and a bit of a food geek, I'm kinda particular about my pizza. Plus, I've been really disappointed in the quality of food I've found in Marin , so who knew that I'd find a really solid pizza option in Tiburon?
I can't comment on the past dishes, but why bother when you can get pizza this good?
My favorite: Pesto, pine nuts and tomato...YUM!!!
Walk The Flank....... That's all I gotta say.
I know it's a pizza restaurant but I can't stop thinking about the carrot soup, I want to drink that carrot soup right now! With the croutons and cracked pepper and sourdough! What a great place, we made the best decision to eat here versus the surrounding potential tourist traps.
The between the sheets are the best thing going here. Basically, it's a personal pizza with a salad on it that you fold over and eat like a sandwich. Get the "Walk the Flank" or the "Thai Style". The crust is really light, but still thin. I think the secret ingredient is beer. It's about $9 after tax, but you get a substantial lunch. Closed Tuesdays.
I came across this place showing my friend who's from Singapore. Everytime he comes to the Bay Area..this is one of the places he wants to eat. Love the pizza/salad sandwich. Everything is tasty. A plus is the sailing photos around the place. Not going to say it's the best pizza around but they are creative on a old dish like pizza!!
