10 reviews for Wax on Wax off
This Taylor Street waxing spa doesn't look like much from the outside, and guess what? From the inside it doesn't look like much either. If you're looking for a low key place that does some fabulous waxing for...not that much! then head to Wax On Wax Off.
The two ladies I dealt with were both very friendly and my esthetician was quick and the waxing process was overall fairly painless. I got 10% off for being a new customer and I'll probably go back for another visit.
I have never given a bad review for threading. Threading is threading. Its fast and it hurts a little. Wipe those tears, and suck it up. But this was the worst threading experience I've ever had.
I went in for a quick threading, it was fast alright but
SHE RIPPED OFF A PIECE OF MY EYELID.
I was like oww. and annoyyed. I have a high tolerance for pain. I'm like ok whatever. I check the mirror and I see the skin was a little raw and I did not see the nick.
The next day, I see it. its like scratching the skin with a needle and cutting through the skin. crusty with blood after 1 day. I will take pictures and post it here.
10% discount for new customers.
$10 for eyebrows which is cheap around here, but go ahead if you dare.
Monica, I love you! You are a true artist when it comes to eyebrows...your fast, hospitable, kind, sweet, cute, fashionable, and always get them right. ALWAYS!
Cute, small, and cozy place great for in-and-out salon treatments. Robert, thanks for styling Joseph for me! His hair looks GREAT...
For a long time, Wax on Wax off was the only place I trusted to get my eyebrows threaded. They do a great job and the pricing is great. I discovered this place when I was a student at UIC (they offer a 10% off student discount!) I used to drive into Chicago from the burbs after I graduated just for the threading and waxing.
Be forewarned, however, they wax very efficiently and, for some people, that might equate to very painfully. I don't really mind though because they do a nice job and you're in and out pretty quickly.
What a hip little salon! The two sisters who run the shop do all the most recent hair techniques - very fashionable - and their prices are Amazing compared to what I am used to, just don't tell them that :) I also love their facials - fantastic for stress relief and gettin' re-ernergized. They also do Threading (which is a gentle facial hair removal technique using only cotton threads). They do waxing, (dah!), natural nails, eyelash extensions, and massages. Their website is http://waxonwaxoffspa.com and I thought they were so sweet and funny and cool that I had to share this. Yeah!
I've gotten my eyebrows done here too for about ten bucks and it was worth it. The girl who did it was really cool and the atmosphere was real relaxing.
$10 for a quick eyebrow threading, no appointment necessary. My first (and definitely the LAST) time there was 2 months ago. After the lady was done, she handed me a mirror so I could check over her work. I suggested that I liked my eyebrows a tiny bit thinner with a little more arch than she had done for me. She insisted that what she did fits great with my face, and refused to make my eyebrows the way that as I was requesting, even after I asked her to do so two times. Excuse me but shouldn't I be the judge of what looks good on me? I went to another place today in Morton Grove (Maria's), $5 for threading and a much better job than Wax On Wax Off! Maria's made my eyebrows the way I wanted it without me even asking, and it looks great! Good thing I'm moving out to Morton Grove! =) I'd only recommend coming to Wax On Wax Off if you had no other choice that's close by, and if you are ok with not having a say in what they do to you.
its been awhile since i went, but an older woman was working on my hair, and it was so unprofessional. i walked in expecting to talk to her and they had to call her on the phone to set up an appointment. i told her over the phone what color i wanted, or sort of, all i said was red, and she came over the next morning with the tubes of color, so therefore i didn't really get a selection. i think she just comes in and rents the chair i was in. and the hair cut i got was so matronly and cut like a golden girl. i dealt with it by sticking it in a ponytail for a couple months. threading here is good, but skip the hair.
I love going to this place to get eyebrow threading done. It's one of the only places in the area that does it. It's about $10 to have it done which is pretty cheap.
I like this place only because it's cheap...the girls are too pushy and kind of rude. I've only been a couple times but they always try to talk me into getting my eyebrows threaded which I don't really like. My roomate had a horrible experience getting a brazillian done here- I tried Just Waxing, Inc. Salon for mine and had great results!!
