26 reviews for Waterfront Hotel
One of Waterfront Hotel's Favorite Reviews What's This?
I had a terrific stay at this waterfront hotel in the Jack London Square. I looked into a few hotels in downtown as well as the Jack London Inn. All of which were more expensive and not as nice on the internet. Plus, it was right on the water and next to a great area of restaurants. I somewhat enjoyed the attached restaurant, Miss Pearl's Jam House. (see review below) Decent food and good bar scene, plus you can't beat the convenience if you're staying there.
The staff was friendly and helpful.(concierge got us free bottles of wine at 2 separate restaurants) The rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. The view was beautiful overlooking a small marina and the water.
On Sundays, they have a wonderful market down there. It has fresh fruit, seafood, pasta, veggies and much much more. There was even a guy with a brick oven cooking pizzas with local plum wood. It was refreshing to see a nice street market near-by. (though I have heard there are even better ones in the area) as opposed to the hustle and bustle of Atlanta(where I'm from)
When I have friends visit in the future, I will recommend this as their place of stay.

Stayed here 2 nights- a nice room on the top floor facing the water. The room was cute, and the view of the water and boats was nice. Good water pressure in the shower. The lobby and fireplace was a nice place to sit and drink coffee in the morning.
The room smelled like old cigarette smoke- so we kept the air conditioning running, which cleared up the smell. I was awoken the first night at 4am by snoring...from the room next door! Later that morning we were woken up at 8am (on a Sunday) by a horrible alarm going off in the snorer's room- the hotel staff had to knock on their door and had it turned off, (after they knocked on our door.) The trains go by every 10 or so minutes, but the sound was faint with the windows closed.
I'M ON A BOAT ERRY'BODY LOOK AT ME CUZ IM SAILIN ON A BOAT!
From the minute I saw the photographs online, that's what I thought. And when I arrived, I had the same feeling. This hotel is super cute and placed directly on the waterfront. Since I love nautical themes these rooms were decked out to suit my fancy, PLUS a fireplace! The room was cute and cozy. We noticed a small black velvet bag placed discretely in the center of the bed, and when opened it revealed a set of ear plugs. Cuuuurious.
Anyways the staff was extremely pleasant and very accommodating. I can't really write a full on expansive review because I was literally there overnight. So for my stay there I did enjoy it.
Oh BTW those earplugs...yeah so there's a train that runs RIGHT outside the hotel seemingly every hour on the hour. Not only does it run but it also blows a loud whistle. Louder than it should be when its between the hours of 2am-7am. Had I not been so tired from the days activities, I probably would have been woken up by it.

Very nice waterfront hotel with some of the most comfy beds I've ever slept in(I tried to strap one to the top of my car, but was foiled). The location along the Jack London Square waterfront was extremely tranquil.
The staff are VERY helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure things went smoothly for us.
Great pool with bay view.
NIce nautical decor with vintage Sailor Jerry tattoo flash prints on the walls.
What's up with the lack of a fridge in the room? Not even a tiny one in our gigantic suite with two big lcd tv's, a living room, a fireplace, and a large dinging table with 6 chairs! I would have given up a tv for a fridge to keep drinks and leftover food cold. FIX THIS!
Even though I live in Oakland, I felt like I was on a waterfront vacation in another city. A great getaway even for locals with many great restaurants and bars within walking distance. Check the internet for room specials. We will be back!

Treated like royalty. Amazing room. Loved the restaurant. Train is a bit loud. Bring ear plugs.
We booked online after doing some research and got the deluxe suite facing the "garden". When we arrived we did have some issues at the front desk with our reservation but it was quickly smoothed out. Thus, began our love/hate relationship with the waterfront hotel....
* our room: HUGE...recently redone and very nice. the "garden" view was actually a parking lot that had some potted plants and maybe a tree or two...not happy about that. our room came equiped with eye mask to help sleep, ear plugs to keep the train noise down, Lather products in the bathroom which were lovely, nice size flat screen, good coffee and a very comfortable bed.
* problems with our room: train noise...not good. no regriderator in room and when we asked to have them bring one up, they did but it failed to work properly- which resulted in a $25 credit towards dinner at their restaurant, Miss Pearl's Jam House. Cleaning service forgot to come clean our room and the posters around the hotel boasted "room service" from Miss. Pearl's which is outdated and not accurate.
Parking: $20 a night...which is a load of crap. Just park at the nearest parking garage, literally across the street.
Location: right on the water, farmer's market on sundays, restaurants and entertainment nearby...but also, bad area's also near by...luckily the hotel lives in the good part of town.
All in all, we would stay there again, the price was right and the nautical decor, although it could get annoying, grew on us...
At $119 for the night, I guess this hotel is okay. But a 5 star experience it is NOT.
Funky old building that has been somewhat renovated. Our room was small, right over the entrance door. Bathroom was still 1960's plumbing. Plastic shell claustrophobic shower stall with anemic water pressure.
Use the provided earplugs to sleep, the Amtrak trains booming down the street will awaken you.
$20 overnight car parking on premises. Kind'a of a joke. There's free street parking 2 blocks away.
Is it my imagination or is Jack London Square even more forlorn & abandoned feeling than it was 2 years ago? The place was a ghost town the 2 days we stayed.
Though I had no bad experiences here and the staff are all pleasant, I would not stay here again. No Pizazz, scant charm. There ain't no There, there.

It's hard to really get a handle on what's going on here. When I checked in, I was excited to discover that I had a room with a view of the water. But the view of the water is mostly warehouses, so it's a bit of a mixed blessing. And as I settled into the room, it just became more and more confusing. The room had a ton of empty space, but no desk. The tv cabinet was empty and the doors didn't really close properly or fit together and the interior was unfinished. Alright, fine, maybe I'll just grab a shower. Water pressure's really impressive but... the shower door doesn't close tightly.
But hey, really all I need is a bed, cause I'm going to be out doing stuff all the time right? So at 9:30, I cruise down to the front desk for advice on just a convenience store or something. But at 9:30 in Jack London Square, there isn't an open convenience store within walking distance. And it seems that there aren't really any... people. It's a ghost town of depressing human emptiness. So fine, maybe I'll just watch a little tv and go to bed early.
But the remote doesn't really work. And as it turns out, the trains a couple blocks away run all night. And lean on the horn... all night. Which sets a distinct mood of... you know... noisy. Which is excellent for sleep and such.
But on the bright side, the staff was great.

We booked a block of rooms here for our wedding weekend and couldn't have been happier. We got a really solid deal on the rooms and our guests all seemed pleased with the place. Our suite was huge, with a separate sitting room, bay windows with a view of the estuary, a fireplace, and a bathroom with two separate sinks. The bed and linens were super comfy - our guests all said the same thing too.
The only thing missing was a fridge, and for that, I'm docking a star.
The service, however, was five-plus. We returned to our room after our wedding to find a chilled bottle of bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries, plus a personal card from the staff.
Our bell men were kind enough to put our left over wedding cake in the hotel fridge, and never batted an eye when we asked them to cart it back up at 1am so we could have a slice. They even brought us plates, forks, napkins, and a knife to cut it with.
The day after, we spent lounging at the pool. Although it's not huge, it's got plenty of cushy lounge chairs and umbrella-covered tables for relaxing. And the view of the sail boats is a nice touch.
Lastly, the retro nautical theme, paired with the Sailor Jerry flash hanging in the lobby and rooms, was the perfect touch. Our guests commented over and over again that we found the perfect hotel to match our style. We all had a great time and even as locals, we felt like we were on vacation. Thanks Waterfront for making our wedding weekend so awesome!
p.s. Although we could hear the trains, I didn't really think it was any noisier than any other hotel in an inner-city area.

Jack London Square makes me sad. It's a great location that's been mismanaged (or perhaps run into the ground intentionally), neglected, and ignored for years. But it's also the real deal. Spend a few days there and you'll see an amazing parade of commerce that reminds you why Oakland is here and how it connects to the world at large. Enormous cargo ships pirouette around the turning basins with help from powerful tugs. Towering cranes empty and refill the ships so they can be spun around once again to head back out to sea. Cargo and passenger trains cruise down the middle of Embarcadero 24/7. Private boats of all types head in and out with the tides and the wind. It's quite a sight, with the SF skyline forming a perfect backdrop. Old Oakland is just across the freeway. The farmers' market and craft fair keep the foot traffic up on the weekends.
And this is a nice hotel. I wouldn't bother staying here (discounts or full price) unless you spring for a room on the water side. The renovations have dulled the train noise considerably, it seems, and the activity on the water is a feature, not a problem. The rooms are standard but well appointed, with comfortable mattresses and linens, updated bathrooms, and updated decor. Service is useful and very friendly--the folks at the desk are ready to cut a deal or solve a problem, or just chat. The flat screen TV is overkill, considering the poor quality of the signal they pipe into the thing and I had to snicker at the gratuitous slabs of granite grafted onto the older furniture, but hey, people like that stuff.
Now if only they could fill all that retail and office space with something worth seeing. Right now, it's a nice place to stay in Oakland, but not a destination in its own right.

***NOTE: If you have a dog, there is no better hotel. They are a very nice hotel that is dog accommodating. i.e. they are not a dog boutique hotel, but a very nice hotel that's perfect for travelers with dogs. ***
This was a great hotel. My girlfriend and I were passing through Oakland/San Fran on our move from L.A. to Seattle. We stopped in Oakland for the night and popped into the city for a romantic dinner.
Originally I chose this location because I was towing a Uhaul trailer and wanted to avoid driving into San Fran. This could not have worked out better.
The Valet staff was the best I've ever experienced. As mentioned before, I arrived at the hotel pulling a Uhaul trailer behind my truck. The valet manager was super cool and attentive to my vehicles. They even went out of the way to park my truck/trailer in the front of the hotel entrance/turn-about so it would be safe at night. He totally could have just parked it in the garage or their parking lot, but he went out of the way to park it somewhere safe.
The room was ridiculously nice for what we paid. I booked the room online on the property's website. I booked the lowest fare for a room with a deck (usually street facing), and in the notes section of the reservation, kindly requested a water view. Normally it would cost more for a water view, but when I checked in the front desk upgraded us for free!
The hotel's original construction is old, but has been updated in the last ten years or so. So the motif is retro and cool, but the amenities are modern and up to date.
Our room was AWESOME! As I said, they upgraded us to a water view room for free, and the view was amazing. You are literally on the water. And the deck was gi'normous!
A few above and beyond things from the hotel:
-The valets are great. They looked after my U-haul all night without request
-Valets hooked it up with a shuttle to the BART station for free! Saved us a cab fare (The Bay Bridge was out that weekend so we had to take BART)
-Valet manager recommended an awesome after-hours place to catch a drink (Harry's First and Last Chance - check it out)
- Front desk sent up a complimentary dog bed and water bowl without request
- There's a doggy yard right outside the front door. Perfect for pet owners
I love the bay area. San Francisco is my favorite walking city by far! Fisherman's warf, Nob Hill, China town what's not to love... oh yeah the hotel prices! So whenever I'm headed to the bay area I stay at the Waterfront Hotel. I've probably stayed here 8 times over the past 10 years.
*Prices are very reasonable and they give you discounts for AAA. (I guess overnight parking is fairly steep but I've never had a car while up there so I haven't had first hand experience with that.)
*The decor is fun and fits the atmosphere of being right on the water.
*The staff is friendly as can be and is so accommodating. I've seen Jack London Square turn over so many times with different restaurants coming and going, and really a non existent night life that the staff has always been helpful in trying to find something to do after 10 PM.
*Within walking distance to the Alamedia/Oakland ferry that takes you directly to SF... be careful though and be mindful of the ferry schedule they don't run all night and you may find yourself in need of another way back to the hotel if you stay out too late. But the Ferry ride is absolutely gorgeous and reasonably priced if you get a few days pass.
*There is a little street market on Sundays that is fun to perusem, and there is a HUGE Barnes and Noble and starbucks and a Cost Plus all within walking distance as well. It is a nice way to spend a Sunday morning!
NOW for the most important thing... the beds. Oh the beds. By far the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at a hotel. Pillow top with duvet, the smell of fresh, soft linens... If I didn't like the city so much I could spend all day in these beds... I should write them and see where I can get one.
Now, I didn't stay here...yet. I did however go to a luncheon here today. I have to say that for food that I have had at luncheons this was probably some of the best food that I have ever had.
My tummy didn't feel to good so I passed on the fillet Mignon and went with the vegetarian dish. My colleagues made fun of me for it but you know what it was worth it. For a vegetarian dish it was delicious. The dessert was really good too.
I went into the actual hotel lobby and checked it out and they have a really cool gas fireplace with a nautical theme going on. Like old timey sailor tattoo art all over.
I think I may book a room here for my hubby's birthday next year. You can get hammered down at First & Last and just waltz right back to your room there.
Ill update when I actually stay there.

I was in town with my fiancé and needed a place to stay that was close to the fam. So, my cousin recommended The Waterfront Hotel... It was newly renovated. I stayed in the suite w/ the balcony overlooking the water. As we walked into the room, I noticed the granite countertops in the bathroom. The room had a double sink feature. One inside the bathroom and one right outside, making it convenient to get ready in the morning. My own sink! Wonderful! We had a decent view of the water. The bed was the best part! Down comforter and pillows! I felt like I was sleeping on marshmallow cream! well, not really, but yeah, it was SOOO comfortable. Actually had given me inspiration for my own room. Oh, the alarm clock was an IHome. Very up to date w/ technology. (a plus)
We ordered breakfast via room service one morning and the food was delivered promptly and piping hot. Never experienced that before! That was nice.
The only negative was they kept putting decaf in the bin. We requested for regular twice, before they got the picture. Duhhh! What's up with that!? Oh, and there isn't too much to do at Jack London Square. Just Barns and Noble and a few restaurants... But, there is a Ferry within walking distance to the City, which was really cool. We took that one day.
I was also impressed with the open pit fireplace in the lobby. Seemed like I could roast marshmallows right then and there! haha. It was very tempting...
I don't know if I'd stay here again just because of the lack of activities, (rather be in the City) but I'd be lucky to find a bed quite as comfortable!

Some of you below are freaking snobs. Live a little, why don't you? If I would have heard a loud band going on downstairs.. WHOO HOOO.. I'd be down there with bells on, work at 7 am or not, I would take the opportunity to have a good time.. but that's just me.
My fiancee and I went to this fine establishment on Valentine's day weekend and loved every second of it. There were a few bumps in the road, but hey, we aren't rich, and we would have done just about anything to get out of the house to enjoy a romantic weekend alone (no dog, no phones!).
We got a room on the 4th floor, 431, and absolutely loved the decor and cleanliness of the room. Huge LCD television with movies (we saw Slumdog Millionaire for $14.99, cheaper than going to the movies across the street!) We threw the windows open and loved the view! We took a lot of great photos. The only complaint here was that there was a wall in the way of our SF view, but we just decided that we will go there again and request the top floor. It was raining, so we really didn't walk around much, we stayed in the room and stared out the window, LOVED the iPod dock and WiFi!!! We stuck our heads out the window and decided to go to dinner at Scott's seafood restaurant, we had no reservation or anything and walked right in and to a table within seconds. SUPER! Really good food!
We spend the rest of the night watching boats go by, took pictures, and watched movies. Bev Mo was right around the corner, so we walked there to get some champagne and Sweedish fish.. hahah. Really good combo!
The bad: We could hear our upstairs neighbors walking. They liked to walk, obviously. It was a little annoying, but we just turned up the music. Our next door neighbors knocked on our wall when it was totally quiet in our room.. not sure why. The wall in front of the SF view was a little disappointing, but like I said before.. we will go there again and request a different spot.
The good: The shower was a blast.. literally. Loved the high pressure! Nice TV, WiFi, iPod dock, restaurants, cool theme! I really liked the lobby bathrooms which had Sailor Jerry tattoo designs!!! So cute! Loved the view, the staff was really nice, everything was right on target. The view.. awesome! It really made me wish that one of those boats was ours.
To everyone else.. stop complaining. Life is too short.
This hotel needs a fresh coat of paint and repaired furniture. Make no mistake, this is not a great hotel, but the staff is nice.
the rooms are no frills, but the service was friendly and unpretentious. prices are fair and on a nice day, the view of the water is lovely! if you stay on a saturday night, the jack london square farmer's market is right outside, and worth checking out on sunday morning.
i think this would be a good place to have visiting parents (and the like) stay.
This was the nicest, least price-gouging stay that I have had in years.
When I called to book, they gave me a AAA discount plus a slight bit less than listed for that particular weekend because I balked at a $20/day parking fee. Since I have lived near here in the past, I knew Jack London Square was needing business, and they cut us a deal.
Pluses: On the water, with a great view, even though I didn't expect one for that price; great pillowtop bed, duvet and feather pillows; quality linens; an iPod player; a day-bed couch in room if needed; ergonomic business chair; and terrifically nice and sharp staff on all contact levels. Close to: a HUGE wonderful Barnes & Nobel with a Starbucks in it; Yoshi's jazz club; a Mexican restaurant; a huge BevMo; and Sunday morning Farmer's Market. Terrific getaway idea: about 500 steps from the hotel you can catch the Ferry to SF or Sausalito. Awesome!
Drawbacks: Our particular room was under the 5th floor's outdoor balcony and the balcony floor squeaked very loudly. That could be easily fixed, and should be. A band that plays in the lounge could be heard from our room, but was not too bad. My advice would be to have a perfect stay by getting a room on the uppermost floor in the meantime. Other drawbacks for some: no fridge in room, which I thought was odd. Other than that, It's a very convenient beautiful location and the people were delightful. Would make a really great business stayover I think., as well.
OH -- one big BUT: NO SMOKING. Entire hotel is no smoking, just go outside.
The two stars are for the staff who truly attempted to accommodate us, by moving us to different rooms. But moving rooms is a big hassle and not what you want to do ever much less each and every day. I can honestly say that my weekend, all 4 days was Completely trashed by staying at the Waterfront Hotel! If you want to sleep at all, and be able to function during your days, do not stay at the Waterfront Hotel. If you plan to party all night, by all means stay there. First thing I can hold the hotel responsible for, even when it is not possible for them to stop inconsiderate and rude "guests", is the hotel absolutely needs to stop all the guest room doors from automatically SLAMMING closed. This hotel has NO appropriate insulation. This is a big deal when you have to listen to the person in the next room pee. But every single door that closes every single time slams and jars you nerves, and this is all night long. BUT if the people staying next to you happen to be partying ALL night long forget it. Not only will every single knock from every single arriving "guest" jar your nerves and wake you up but every single time the door SLAMS afterward. Unbelievably many weddings and bachelors were partying in the hotel the weekend we had the misfortune of staying there. We moved 3, yes three times and still did not get any sleep. I decided to call one room myself at 3:00 a.m and ask them how much longer I would need to listen to them and they said, "well we're having a bachelor party so maybe you should just check out, cause were not stopping." The hotel offered to "comp" our $20.00 parking fee to make up for it. I asked the manager if I could make him a deal and pay him $60.00 to NOT sleep for 3 days, he looked at me and said dryly, "the hotel can not be responsible for every guests behavior". I really did want to leave the hotel but I was traveling with a VERY WELL behaved DOG! I was the quiet guest who was not welcome in other hotels because of my dog so though I tried, with such short notice I could not find another place for 1 night with my dog. I needed days once back at home to recover from my stay at this hotel. It is a beautiful hotel with NO soundproofing. you will hear your neighbors, above you, along side of you, in the hall ways. You will hear conversations you wish you did not hear. You will hear the T.V. shows of your neighbors from all directions, all at once. You will hear sounds (bodily) you wish you could not hear. Ah and the never ending slamming of Doors all night long! BANG! And oh yes the train that others complain about, now that sound was mild up against all the other noise! And at least with the train you knew it would end. At least until the next one.Truly after no sleep for days my favorite part is when the people at the front desk look at you with this strange angle to their head and eyes and ask, "Good morning, is everything all right?"
So, the city of Alameda decided that our windows were not historically accurate enough. The only people who look at them are normally sobs stumbling out of Lost Weekend Lounge, but apparantly someone out there cares if our paint matches the paint that the building was two hundred years ago and the windows have to be the same size and open like this and not like that... anyway! Three days it will take them to redo our goddmn windows. On the third and final day, Kesete (poor guy charged with the task of redoing our goddamn windows) comes to me and says it will take one more day. I say, "wah? not unless we get put up in a hotel" He says OKAY! 80-100 bucks and you're on.
Shit. So I call the manager of the Waterfront Plaza Hotel thinking maybe, just maybe they could accomodate my boyfriend and I for one night if I told them the whole story. Before I knew it, the manager here was giving me a room at the employee rate! What a guy! I love this hotel and will gladly send anyone I know here to pay full price just to bring this place business. Cool location with all the neat little restaurants and everything. Waterfront Paza Hotel, thanks for last night.

I was in town one weekend for a wedding and stayed here. The accommodations here were fine, no complaints. The Jack London Square area itself is pretty boring. I'm glad there's the East Bay Ferry (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) to SF nearby. In terms of activities to do in the area, there wasn't much besides the small farmer's market (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). There was good soul food place, Nellie's (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), if you're up for a walk.
my guy took me here for a valentines night away knowing how much i love oakland (i used to live there). we checked in and changed, went out to a nice dinner and then dancing. came home, slept and woke up saying this was the best, most comfortable, hotel bed we've ever slept in. the room was nice and big.
we had a view of boats and san fran. on clearer days the views would be great.
there was some major disconnect between corporate and the actual hotel...we were sold a package that included room service breakfast when they actually did not have room service any longer.
we were really bummed about this as were looking forward to just lounging around. we got up and went to the restaurant and were really surprised. the food was really good and the manager took care of us despite the hotel not being able to help us out at all since the manager was not yet in for the day.
the manager of the hotel called us later in the day and helped us out too and said that he would make sure that they didn't sell the package through corporate any longer.
i am a sucker for a comfy bed and good customer service...we plan on going back again sometime to catch the ferry to san francisco.
Our family has used this property for a family reunion. They did a good job of giving us meeting rooms, and helping direct lost family members to the larger tribe. They really did try to maximize every inch of the property, which results in some rooms with odd and unusable angles. The prices, even with our group rate, were so high that about 1/4 of our family stayed at other properties within driving distance. This wouldn't be my first choice to recommend to an out of town guest, but if you're drunk in Jack London Square, it's better than a DUI.

what's sad about this place? ok, the $10+ valet parking is annoying. but i loved the decor even though it's not my style at all. something about it just got me sooooo relaxed. it's got beautiful views of jack london square or the water, depending what side of the hotel you get.
beware of the balconies though - they run all around the hotel, so you might see some dude walk by as you lay around naked. consider your hoochie self warned.
i'd recommend this place if you got family visiting but they don't want to sleep on your nasty futon. jack london square has that right combination of touristy development that makes certain people feel nice and safe. love the farmers' market too - a nice bonus.
the biggest downside is the cost but that's normal for downtown oakland.

We stayed at the Waterfront Plaza Hotel in Oakland again this year, and it was even worse this time. Since we've had bad luck two times now, we will never be returning to the Waterfront Plaza. There are so many hotels in the area that are good and even great, please do not waste your time here. I honestly wish I could give this place a negative rating, and I am going to be writing a letter to the management and CEO because of our most recent stay.
We were in town on business, and upon checking in we were given room 255. The room was adequate as before; the place could still use a good updating, but nothing glaringly bad was noticeable about the room. It looked out onto Jack London Square and had a balcony that was shared with several other rooms. Everything was just fine until we returned to our room at 10:30pm to get a good night's sleep for our business meeting in the morning. The moment we entered our room, we noticed loud music coming up through the floor of the room; we surmised that we were over the bar area and that the live band would probably stop playing soon. At 11:00pm, the band has not stopped and it was definitely loud enough to ensure that until the band stopped, we were not going to be able to sleep. We called the front desk and were told that the band should be finishing up soon. We called the front desk again at 11:30pm and were told the same thing. We called the front desk yet again at 12:00am, a bit disgruntled at this point, and were told that the back would finish in "just a few minutes". At 12:25am, we called and were put on hold while security went to see if the band would cease playing soon. The music stopped at 12:26am. We relaxed and tried to settle in for some sleep. But, at 12:27am the band started up again!!!!!! We put yet another call into the front desk and let them know that we'd not been told about the band playing late into the morning hours upon check-in, and as we were in town on business we needed to get up early in the morning and needed sleep in the interim. We ended up being moved to a new room one floor up at 1:25am. After packing up our belongings and shuffling them to the new room, then settling in again and climbing into bed, we were finally able to get to sleep at about 3:00am.
The next night we again arrived back in our room at about 10:30pm as once again, we had a business meeting in the morning and needed some shut-eye (especially after not sleeping the previous night). We settled in for the night, and were just drifting off when someone on the floor above seemed to walk heavily across the floor and start moving furniture. We heard this quite loudly in our room, and thought that perhaps our upstairs neighbors would be settling down soon. This noise and ongoing ruckus continued for an hour, so we called the front desk. We were told that they'd check it out and stop the noise. Another hour later, the noice was still nonstop above us so we called the front desk once again. They informed us that they'd been up to the room above us and were told by the occupants that the noise was not coming from them. We were then told that there was nothing further that the front desk could do about the noise, which continued while we were on the telephone. We had no recourse, and so listened to the ongoing noise as we tried unsuccessfully to go to sleep. Another night with no sleep.
In the morning as we were checking out after a weekend of no sleep, my beau met with the manager of the hotel, a gentleman named Terry. He told Terry the issues that we'd had with our hotel rooms that weekend, and Terry told my beau that he really didn't feel like doing anything to rectify the negative situation. Great customer service, huh? So, I will be forwarding this review to the general manager, Sam W. Nassif as well as as many "higher-ups" I can find for the Waterfront Hotel. What a disappointment.
