In case you haven't been to water world in a while... a few things have changed.  Here are my tips for making your experience worth while.

1) Go on a weekday.  I know it's tough taking time off work but really if you are going to spend $30ish dollars, make your dollar go farther.   I went on a Monday and while I still had to wait in line. I am sure the lines were much shorter than weekend lines.

2) Bring a non-perishable food can-- NO glass.  9 News will give you $6 off which, I believe, is the best coupon out there.  PLUS you are helping people.

3) Pack a lunch-- use the money savings for other things (renting tubes).   Patrons can bring coolers and non-open liquid containers.  Bring everything you need.

4) Rent the single rafts.  So, for all of you that haven't been to water world in awhile, you can rent single rafts which means you SKIP the line of EACH single person raft ride.  The cost to do this is minimal-- $6.00sh per tube depending on the current  "sale".  It is totally worth $6.00 to save 30 minutes or so in line.

5) Rent the Red/ Family rafts.  We didn't do this today but I wish I would have.  These rafts are for the bigger rides that tend to have the longer lines-- Storm, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Lost River of the Pharaohs, etc.   Bonus is that you don't have to carry the raft up the hill-- which for women or kids-- great part.  The cost to rent the family rafts is $20ish.  If I would have paid the $20 today if I could have skipped the line for the Journey to the Center of the Earth ride -- approximate wait time was an HOUR.

6) Do ride the Journey to the Center of the Earth ride.  It was my favorite.

7) Stay until the end.  6 pm.  People start leaving mid afternoon.  In the last hour of the day we were able to ride 4 popular rides.  Being in the sun all day is hard.  Push through and enjoy every minute of the your $30 dollars and day off work.

I love Water World and, more importantly, my little reviewer loves it too.  I bought us season passes so that we can go for a few hours after his day camp ends whenever possible and not feel bad about all the money they charge for daily admission.  The joy of watching him jump in the waves at the wave pool, just like I used to do in the Pacific, are priceless anyway.  Capping the actual price is even better.

They have so many different rides that I would love to try, but I stick with him and we do some lazy river and kid oriented rides, or I just watch him and laugh.

The added bonus of people watching is also priceless.  To paraphrase a 4-word line from Goodfellas (Tiff, Nick and Hamilton will appreciate this) - Want to know what a MILF is?  Go to Water World.  Want to get some new ink and are not sure what to get, Go to Water World.  Want to just stay cool in a cool place that does not charge you for parking or force a second mortgage to eat, Go to Water World.

Waterworld is definitely my favorite waterpark around! If you live in Colorado, getting the season pass is well worth it. When I lived there we used to go like 2-3 times a week! They've got a ton of "theme rides" which are pretty sweet! The voyage to the center of the earth is SWEET! It just sucks that you have to drag your HUGE tubes up to the starting point! Its faaaar too!

Waterworld has everything you could ask for. Speed slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, tube slides, etc. Weekends are generally SLAMMED but the weekdays are a lot lighter.

One of the best things is that you can bring your own coolers of food in!!! Saves a ton of money and you get way better food.

I can't wait to come visit this summer!!

I love Water World. I have been coming here every summer since I was a little kid and have never gotten over this place. I will continue returning year after year. I just wish it was a little bit more affordable so I could come more than once or twice a summer. But oh well, I can always bring some canned food in for a discount and help out the food bank too! Yay!

In a strange twist of fate I went to Water World this weekend just before it popped up as ROTD. Let me just say it was as good as J. S. says. Here are my tips on how you can make it the most enjoyable day ever.

1. Go early, like when they open at 10. We were able to ride at least 5 slides without waiting at all in the first hour because we did this.
2. Bring a cooler if you want. Or don't. The food there is reasonably priced as everyone says. And who wants to cart that stuff around anyway? Unless you really want something they don't offer, like Vitamin Water.
3. Wear sunscreen and flip-flops to avoid any sort of burning body parts.
4. If you choose to ride The Wedge (not actually name of waterslide, more of a descriptor) for the love of God, tuck your chin. If you don't you'll suffer mild whiplash like yours truly.
5. Code Rainbow means puke - stay away from those areas.
6. Check the web site for specials. We bought a family four pack for 4 adults. It cost us $109 total which is much less than the cost of regular admission plus we each got a pizza and a drink. What a bargain.

So there you have it. Go forth and get wet Denver!

I have been going to WW since I was a little kid.  I remeber doing the pepsi challange for kids so they could get their pepsi rewards card.  I would leave right after my parents went for work hop on a bus transfer a couple times.  Use the season pass I saved up for and would have a blast.  They were never the wiser.  It has to be the best water park I have ever been to and I can only imagine how much better it has gotten in the 15 years since I last went.

Stay away from the lazy river unless you have to piss...it is warm for a reason

Water world is THE BEST!!!!!   The best what you ask?  Well, duh, the best water park in the state at the very least.

Note to self, the best way to enjoy the water world experience is to go when they open (at 10am, c'mon, it's not that early) on a weekday.  Seriously, don't go near the place on a weekend, it's like the crush of humanity.  But you may have noticed in my other reviews that I don't like big crowds, maybe I'm a bit claustrophobic.  But the weekday thing is also to avoid long lines on rides.

Another tip, if you have crocs, wear them.  Yes you will look a little goofy in crocs and a swim suit, but if it's really hot, the pavement will rip up your feet and you will thank me for this tip.

You can bring in drinks that are factory sealed (not vodka though) and food but their food isn't too overpriced and there's no better way to end a long day at water world than with a funnel cake or huge twist waffle cone sundae, yummy yummy yummy.

Hmm, what else can I say, oh yeah, if you are a westminster resident you get super cheap tickets with your rec center ID and if you aren't, well get a coupon.

A final word of caution, the white slides over near the lost river of the pharaohs ride are fun, but are referred to by my friends and I as the 'water enema'.  Don't think I really need to expand on that one do I class?  If you're a guy, I don't think it's a problem due to all the fabric of your shorts, but girls, good luck, clench.

Anyway, please go to water world because, dammit, it's really flippin fun!!!!!

Ok everyone, BTW, did you know that our very own Water World was part of a travel channel special on like the totally best water parks in the history of the world ever?!?!   Well, it was, so go have a chat w/your best friend TIVO and record it cuz it's on all the time.

On a summer Tuesday, hotter than six miles of Georgia asphalt, me and my three person posse made our way to Water World.

I'm a lover of water; a lover of lots and lots of water; a lover of slides, and especially waterslides; i'm a lover of basking in the sun, too, like some lizard-human hybrid; and, most of all, i'm a lover of pools and, in Water World's case, a lover of waterparks.

I got giddy and reverted to 9-year-old Robert upon pulling into their massive parking lot and noticing the smrgsbord of slides weaving around each other and the park. I screamed a little girl scream and continued to do so as i slid down every g-damn slide in that park. Some even several times.

Perhaps it was because i was there on a Tuesday, and not a weekend, that it wasn't busy, but i never waited more than ten minutes in any of the rides. And the rides were something amazing. Really amazing.

Admission is like $34, but you can cop a season pass for $80. So, basically what i'm trying to say is, just buy a pass. Everyone should go to Waterworld at least three times a year. No exceptions.

Food wise, it's not too terrbily expensive like some amusement parks tend to be. They got sopapillas for $3, funnel cakes for $4, and dippin' dots (supposedly 'the ice cream of the future' for, like, the last decade or so) for $3.50.

Bring some sandals to walk around in though: The day spent walking on the asphalt totally rubbed my bare feet raw.

Love the variety, hate the people? This place has long lines even on overcast days it seems. Pretty cool rides though, so long as you don't lose your suit. It's not cheap, but I think you get what you pay for. I got stuck on the ride with the indoor river once, and had to get out and push the raft with only two other people in it. One of them was child... okay I'm not huge people. Maybe they need more water at Water World? Regardless, pretty fun place to get a sunburn!

Best water park we've been to ... liked it so much we bought season passes this year.

Thunder Bay ( wave pool) is awesome.  Food isn't overpriced and with a season pass (gold variety) you get 20% off ... and they let you bring your own food which is nice!

Parking is free.  Wish it was open past 6pm ...

Water World has been a family favorite for as long as I can remember.    They are a little pricey, but I think worthwhile if you stay the whole day.

A couple other tips that aren't quite as useful as Tiffany's:
- If you are going to ride White Lightning or any of the other Wedge slides gentlemen make sure that your swimsuit is up to it.  We had a friend whose trunks were literally torn open by the pressure of the water.
- If you are epileptic do not go on the Storm!!
- It's impossible, but if you go on the Zoomerang, the giant half pipe with the three person tube, try really hard to lift your butt and tuck your chin otherwise you will suffer. And if you wanna touch the top of the pipe than find two of the biggest people you can find and I swear to you, you will fly.
- Inspect your pizza carefully, we've had a couple with the little beetles baked right in.
- The lazy river is not the best lazy ride, the Tortuga is.  Which is right next to the Screaming Mimi.  (can you tell I went here a lot?)
- If you ride the Screaming Mimi do not let the first person lean forward or look down, your scooter will tank as soon as you hit the water!!
- And if you're riding one of the closed tube rides and your tube suddenly fills with warm water..... well you know.

I find it hard to picture this type of place in many other cities and think that it's one of the gems of Colorado.  I love this place because:
1.  You can spend all day here.
2. You can bring your own food and drinks (must be factory sealed and no glass)
3. The food if you don't bring it yourself, is moderately priced and edible.  Except the lemon chicken sandwiches, they are way too salty!!!
4. The rides are varied and there is something for everyone.  (even a hot tub for when it gets cold or if you're (can't say it)).
5. You actually get some exercise!!  Not only do you walk all over, but you have to carry your own freaking tube!.  I love that.  :)
6. They have giant toilet bowl rides.  Who doesn't love feeling like they're being flushed?

Just go once people, it is a blast!!

Ooh, I so love Thunder Bay. I never rent a tube, but that looks fun, too- it just seems like cheating. I love to hang out in the wave pool all afternoon on hot summer days. The only downside is when it is so crowded that you can't jump around and splash when the wave comes without punching someone in the jaw. Hmm. Mosh pit crossed with wave pit? It could be the next big thing.

The water slides are pretty awesome, too. Hold your nose for splashdown unless you want an impromptu sinus flushing! I love to splish splash for a few hours and then sit down with an ice cream and watch people getting bowled over in Thunder Bay. Great for kids, and a blast for any age!

The experience is great. The rides are all fun, but the real action has got to be Thunder Bay. This wave pool drops a 10ft wave that just wipes out everything in its way. The obvious downside is that there are 68 million other people running around. Still a fun time.
