I stopped here after work to grab a quick bite to eat before I headed over to Images to catch a movie. I sat at the bar as I find you get the best and quickest service there.
I was disappointed that they were not carrying the local Berkshire Mountain Distillers Vodka, yet, so I ended up going with a Blue Moon on tap. I ordered the half pound burger with cheese and cajun seasoning. Came out quick, with waffle fries that were fresh and very tasty! The burger it self was one of the best I've had in a while. Cooked perfectly with a lot of cajun spice.
I recommend Water Street Grill if you are in Williamstown looking for some American style food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Good place for an evening drink with great views of the Green River. The beer and bourbon selections are select. The food is nothing special, but it's not a bad choice by Williamstown standards. I'd come back, if only for a glass of Booker's with old friends.
The Water Street Grill looks like a good place to sit and have a beer while watching the game. There is food but it's pretty mediocre. The atmosphere is down-to-earth, homey, woodsy, drafty at times, but nice when a fire is burning in the fireplace. I think you come here more for the company and atmosphere than for the food.
I've eaten here twice and the food was similar to what you get at a 99's or Friendly's. Not bad food but nothing special. I had a chipotle dish (I think it was pasta and chicken) which sounded promising but ended up being pasta dumped with barbecued sauce (the kind in a bottle) . It was really gross. (The type of dish where you're trying to shake off the sauce to eat something that isn't nasty)
For lunch I ordered a crispy chicken salad (trying to be healthy) and the chicken was the same chicken fingers that are on the appetizer menu laid on top of a huge salad. Now the salad wasn't bad, it was sort of a Cobb salad with a hard-boiled egg and maybe even some bacon bits, but the chicken fingers on the top were kind of bleh. It was huge - having an option that is half the size with better quality chicken would be good.
I think the benefit of eating here is it's roomy, you can hang and talk with your friends, and the food is ok. Everything on the menu is something I could probably make better at home. My advice would be to stick to burgers and fries and beer. They do serve waffle fries, which I tried, and they were good.
Not to be too negative - on the bright side, they do have a lot of choices on the menu. I would imagine that a stand-alone restaurant has a hard time juggling that many choices - thus the many ways of using chicken fingers. I think I prefer fewer choices and better quality.
I was up here a little over a month ago for a wedding. My friends were walking the town, and decided to stop here for lunch.
Because the place was relatively empty, the ambiance was nice and quiet. Old wood walls, paintings on the wall, etc. Since we were all going to a wedding in a few hours, we wated a nice relaxing lunch, and Water Street Grill provdided it. We first ordered a plate of their nachos for appetizers. A huge plate came out with chips covered in the usual nacho toppings. This trend of large portions would continue. I ordered the fish and chip sandwich, which also was a huge portion. The fish was battered and fried perfectly. The waffle fries were also a nice treat. The only other dish I remember my friends ordering were 3 steak salads. They all came out with huge portions as well and I do not recall my friends complaining.
Overall, this place did a nice job of hitting the spot. If I were ever back in the area(highly doubt it...), I wouldn't mind coming back here again.
I used to work up in this area and haven't been here in awhile. They are a solid 4 stars - mostly because they don't try to be high brow in a pretentious area like Williamstown. They dress up the summer vegetables (squash zucchini) with butter and dill, the chicken breast is moist and flavorful. I've had the burgers, it was really good one day and overcooked on another visit.
They serve trout as well, from what I hear it's very good.
The desserts are amazing, good to share. The Pecan Pie was delicious - laced with bourbon syrup finished with vanilla ice cream.
Gets crowded during the summer especially on weekends.
My mom and I came here last week for dinner. The building is typical of what you'd find in the area, older and a bit falling down, but charming all the same.
Service was great, we had 2 servers, as one was training. They were friendly and attentive.
The atmosphere of the place was...random. I wasn't sure what was going on. It had a fishing motif going on, which would have been fine, if there were more than the requisite (fish & chips, scrod) seafood items on the menu. There were oversized wicker baskets on the table holding the condiments, and taking up far too much room. They also didn't match the countless fish pictures and memorabilia on the walls.
Dinner was good, I had chicken parm, and mom had a chinese chicken salad. I liked that my meal came w/ a salad (not common out here in Boston area), and w/ veggies w/ my entree, in addition to the pasta and chicken. I didn't feel quite as full as a result. Mom said her salad was good, she actually ate the whole thing (this is a rare feat), so I believe it was good.
Their hard alcohol drinks are served in those standard teeny "rocks glasses", meaning 2 sips and you're done. Not a fan. My beer was good, I think I had some kind of Hef. I like the beer selection, it was not your normal "Bud/Bud Light/Sam Adams/ Heinekin/ Amstel" selection.
Overall, good value for the price, good service, good time had by all. I'm sure we'll be back anytime we're up visiting the fam.
Went to Williamstown for our annual fall road trip. This happened to be the first open resturant we could find. (This town realy closes down on Sundays) The meal wasnt too bad, I had a sesame chicken sandwich. It needed some kind of sause on it, the dijon mustard on the table was ok but it could have been better. They serve BBC beer there but I was a little sick and beer wouldn have helped.
The resturant itself is in a really nice old building that seems like it had been there for like 100 years. It was really nice. My girlfriends loves old buildings like this one, it was fun to be in there.
Not too bad food and an nice old builging get this place a 3 / 5.
