Time for an update: the same owners still have the place since the Cattlemens and the food is still just as good, meaning better then the Cattlemens. Prices have gone up but I guess, what hasen't? The big new thing here is the bar has gone country...as in country dj and dance lessons on Sat. nights. They just started this a few weeks ago and usually after 8pm and the dinner crowd is finished the place is emptying out. Now with the bar scene, it seems to be kinda after hours bar music scene. Place to check out for something different.

This is the former Cattlemans Steakhouse, the new owners took over a little over a year ago. I will say this place is better then the Cattlemens as the menu has expanded but for all you Cattlemans fans, many of the same dishes are there as is the staff. The building is the same as nothing has changed. The meat here is consistantly good and is better in flavor then most of the steaks I have had in this area. The prices are reasonable for what you are getting. The best rack of lamb I have ever had was here. The service is perfect. We usually ask for our regular server, that way we know everything to the last detail will be taken care of. Ask for Tawney, she doesn't mess around and gets it perfect all the time! Its a bit of a drive (only 15 mins though) from Reno or Carson, but well worth it.
We cruised over for an easy and light Sunday night dinner and the staff acted like they were glad to see us- something refreshing these days. It has western decor that is not over-the-top or corny and it is a fun place to bring out -of -towners for some "western" atmosphere. We ate at a bar table and the bartender was very attentive as was the wait staff but they weren't busy. The sirloin burgers were tasty as were the fries and onion rings. The wings were "dry" and lightly seasoned like we like them and served with ranch. Portions weren't overly large but you can certainly get that if you order off the dinner menu. They don't serve lunch in the winter but plan to when the weather improves.
