i have to admit.  i initially went in to set up an account few yrs ago when i realized that checking account was free.  i ran into some hiccups in the beginning when they didn't trust me yet, 'n they refused to cash my checks right away.  they typically have a hold on the checks for new enrollees for couple of days.

now that i've been a faithful customer w/ them, i've really enjoyed the service.  they even write out official checks for free!  now that in itself makes my account worthwhile.  what am i saying?  my account's free, too.

i'm probably going to start a business account w/ them as well.  i like being able to manage online.

only caveat to this day would be to be wary of long lines.  it's so popular that it's almost out the door.  however, i still gave them 5 stars 'cause i just love the fact that they create free official checks!

I hate having to call wamu but going to the branches despites how infrequently I actually do that is always pleasant thanks to the great people that work at the branches.

My younger brother was even able to intern there for a while and enjoyed a great high school experience thanks to the great participation wamu has with the local community.

They have recently really improved their online banking system but I only wish they had more branches and ATMs so I could drop bofa altogether as I hate going to a bofa except for the fact there are so many of them and their online system had previously been better. wamu's recent online update allowing bank-to-bank transfers took care of that though. The only thing they need now is more ATMs/branches.

I opened my account at this bank several years ago and the service has always been outstanding.  The tellers are really helpful and understanding of my needs.  Thanks to all of them!

Most of the time when I go in during my lunch hour, the lines are not as long as I expect.  But, when the lines do get long, they are really good about taking people out of line doing straight deposits which really helps the line go down faster.

I've been a loyal, satisfied customer since I first needed a checking account for my first job back in 2000. At this branch, the staff is helpful and nice. There's free coffee to boot. Service can be slow not only at the tellers but at the desks.

One note...the parking lot is a ONE-WAY parking lot, so don't try to get into the lot by entering on the Mervyn's Plaza side (the wrong side for entering the lot)...that's why the arrows are painted on the asphalt. (One of my biggest pet peeves...lol)

This has been my bank since I opened an account. Friendly staff, great service, #1! My only beef is that they need more tellers because it's really slow during peak hours (weekends, weekday afternoons).

So you can't open an off-shore account here to hide your "extra earnings".  You may need to wash your money elsewhere.  The staff is pretty cool and they give you free coffee.

You can lease a safe deposit box here to secure all of your valuables while you're away:  important documents, incriminating photos and other contraband that may not be subject to a search warrant.

As a kick, next time you have your paycheck, cash it in here and when they ask you how would you like your money ask for it all in $2 bills.  They'll do it.

I am so pleased to have switched to Washington Mutual from Bank of America.  The customer service here is good, though sometimes the wait is really long.  The parking lot is one way.
