The walls in this place have a neat, minimalistic illustration of the W&OD trail. I like unexpected, friendly art in largely depersonalized spaces (see: metro stations). It seems like you can get your bike fixed here, too. Its no-frills warehouse ambiance inspires me to focus on my biking habits.

Bike locks were reasonably priced. And one more star for being an independent, local store.

Washington Bike is a small bike store with a nice selection of bikes and biking equipment.  Compared to Performance Bicycle Shop in Reston (see my review) they are wonderful!  They know bikes and love bikes and can help you with whatever you need and do a good job of it.  They are knowledgeable and courteous.

I only dock a star because I have been there a handful of times and sometimes you have to go out of your way to flag someone down to be helped (after I had been helped by someone to pick out a mountain bike I stood in front of the counter for five minutes, wallet in hand, before I got tired of waiting and had to speak up for someone to help me buy the thing).  It's not too big of a deal, though.  Once you get their attention they are pretty good about helping you out.  

And like the previous reviewer, I give them props for being a locally owned, independent store.  Not like the nightmare of Performance Bike, where no one knows what they're doing (at least in Reston, anyway).

Let me start off by saying I am a little bit biased b/c I used to work there. That being said, you will not find a more friendly, knowledgeable, and caring staff. Forget the big shops, they cannot help you out the way they will here. They truly go the extra mile and actually care about you and the bike experience.  Kris, Bonnie, Buck, and all are wonderful!

Use this shop, you will not be disappointed. Tell them Joe the redhead sent you there:)
