6 reviews for Wasabi Sushi Bar
My gf and I headed here for a work week lunch to catch up. I was really surprised it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be, which was good since we were seated immediately. The service was decent...not fantastic, but they were nice. I have to say I was ecstatic to finally have a decent sushi bar in our area! (If you like Mai Lee Thai, the owner's daughters own this place!)
I had the veggie tempura and Tarantula rolls....sooo good! The only problem I had with the sushi was I wished it had been rolled a little tighter. The pickled ginger could definitely have been stronger though. The tempura was PERFECT though! Everything was nice and fresh too! We had hot green tea which was good, but they served it already poured as well as with a teapot and so when we got the teacups the ceramic was so hot we had to wait quite a while before we could drink it. My gf had the chicken yakisoba (yes, they have things other than sushi for those people who aren't fans) which looked scrumptious too. We shared an assortment of Mochi Ice Cream for dessert which was sooo good. My friend hadn't had it since she lived in Japan and said it was just like she remembered it!
Price-wise it was a bit spendy...with tip we each spent about $20, but it was worth it I think! I can't wait to go back!
The food was good, well prepared. The prices were reasonable, in line with an average good sushi restaurant. However, I have to take off a star for the service. The place was not packed the evening I went, a Monday night ... not empty, but I would not consider it busy enough to excuse the long wait for the food to come. They did have nice chopsticks, not the normal break-apart wood ones, but the kind you'd find in a Japanese household. Their seafood miso soup was reasonably priced, though it was a small bowl with not a lot of seafood in it. It had 4 mussels in shell, the shell just taking up more room in the small bowl, though making a nice touch. It did have a good flavor though.
Overall, the food was good but the wait killed the stars for me.
Very good food. Loved my seaweed salad. The cook delivered our food to the table and he is very good looking. Mentioned it at work the next day and everyone agreed.
Like other reviewers, I am happy that there is a decent sushi bar in the area. However, this is not the place to go for a quick meal. Every time I have been there the service, while attentive, has been slooow. I've stopped going there for lunch for this reason... and because it's a bit spendy. Good for a relaxing evening meal, though, if you are not looking for a place with much atmosphere.
We brought our friend who worked in a sushi bar for a couple of years and she gave the sushi three stars for quality. Personally, I think it is higher than that but the service, atmosphere, and prices put it in this category for me.
It's a really, really good sushi place, and I'm not just saying that because it's the only sushi place in Wenatchee (well, technically it's in East Wenatchee, but who cares in a small town, eh?).
Good prices, good atmosphere.
If this was located in a big city I think it would be a 4-star place, but they get the extra star for bringing great sushi to a small town.
Finally a Sushi restaurant in town! I hope they stay forever! I know it's not the freshest stuff I've ever had before, but it's a wonderful substitute! A bit on the pricey side, but I wouldn't mind going back again. They have deep fried sushi rolls which I've never had before, I was skeptical.. but it was D-lish! It's a sushi roll deep fried in tempura batter, it doesn't cook the raw fish, they fry it just enough to make the sushi roll, warm and crispy.
I know a lot of people don't even like the word "sushi" because of there being raw fish or raw sea critters, but Wasabi also makes un-raw sushi delicacies which are made with veggies or cooked items, and they have a regular dinner menu as well including tempura, teriyaki, etc.
