Neighborhood: La JollaThe selection. The organization. The helpful staff. This place is first rate for business supplies, party favors and decor, gifty items, kids stuff and books!!!
I always seem to blow lotsa dough here. Cannot seem to escape without buying something for me and a few friends!!! Also, I cannot leave in less than an hour. It's such a nice store ... I like to stroll and peruse and collect unique chotchkes!
If you are in the village of La Jolla, definitely check out this store. You, too, may become addicted (like me!!!).

Half Bookstore half stationary and gift store. I used to come in here all the time when i was a weirdo in high school and they had remote controled blow up robot that my friend bought that never worked. They have the biggest selection of pens I have ever seen. They also have those little japanese food erasers that I love! I don't really remember the book selection very well, but I love coming in here to browse. Nice atmosphere and cute shop.
Attended a Book Signing this week-- and found it to be marvelously entertaining and informative. The couple who had just written the book "The Passion Test"-- were hosting a book signing -- and public presentation. It was a Fabulous Experience-- and I walked away with a wonderful sense that this bookstore is really "Going Out of their Way" to promote some fabulous things in the La Jolla area.
A Plus Event!
A Plus Bookstore!
Have been going in there for over 10 years now--
Have always had a great experience!
I highly recommend it!

Behold! A bookstore where the staff has read the books! This is the old-school feeling of a bookstore, where you'd go and discuss what you loved and see what they can recommend. Their stock is handpicked, so no, they won't have *Everything*, but you might just discover a hidden gem.
Their booksignings are fantastic, and they somehow manage to get the biggest national authors to swing through. They clearly put a lot of effort into their book events, so get on their mailing list when you can.
Finally, their office supplies rock. Witness my monkey pen that dances when you write.
I love this place! They not only have books but they have cool gifts like for holidays and everyday things! They also have children toys and cards!
:) They have great little gifts, great for christmas or hannukah
Warwick's is like a time machine. You go inside and come out wondering where the past two hours went. This is my favorite spot in SD for buying a gift or discovering a new author. They have an enormous selection of cool office supplies (for your inner pocket-protecting geek), filofax and other planners, calendars, even jewelry and Crane's stationary. It's an independent, so you get the big-name book signings here several times a year. Look for the staff reviews on the books... they're always cool to help you find something new.

YES! Just when Cody's in Berkeley had to move AWAY from where most reading people [ie. students] find themselves, when Kepler's in Menlo Park was within a second of going out of business, here is a FANTASTIC bookstore in the very center of La Jolla!
Warwick's is just what a good bookstore should be - it's big, crowded, full of books [both good and bad], and their stands have a terrific selection of recommended books. I wandered in here looking for a basic guide to San Diego [this is a whole another story, but after setting out to go to Half Moon Bay on a late Saturday afternoon, I first found myself in Carmel by 5pm, and in San Diego around 2am the next day.. what can I say, sometimes traveling on a whim can be nice], and ended up with a whole bag of books that I was so excited to read, that it took me a while just to decide which ONE I am going to start with.
If you go to La Jolla, go to Warwick's. Places like this deserve to stay in business.

I love this place!! Great bookstore with a diverse selection for the space. I am acquainted with bookstores like Powells in Portland, Oregon. I found several books I was looking for the first time I walked inside. They have wonderful and unique greeting cards, windchimes, picture frames, office supplies and much to see.
The staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable!

This is one of my favorite book stores in San Diego, their authors are amazing, but so is their stock.

Noteworthy authors come here for book signings all the time. The events are open to the public and they are free. Most of the authors speak in addition to signing copies of their books. All the events are a great opportunity to see famous writers in the flesh and hear them talk-up their latest publication. But I love the Warwick's book signings because they are free and there isn't much to do in La Jolla on the cheap.

I spent $100 on a picture frame here.
A stupid mother of pearl frame....because I was gonna put a picture of people at the beach.
Cute store, looks like you stepped back in time here.

This is one of the nicest stationery/books/office supply/gifts boutique you'll ever come by. The gamut of stationery options is classy and exhaustive. Everything in here is quality oriented, from the office accessories to the art supplies. There's a strong La Jollan communal spirit reinforced by the occasional authors' reading events, which is pretty special due to the intimate setting radiated by the quaintness of the location.

Have you ever been to an author event? Neither have I, but I've always wanted to. Warwick's has rad authors stopping through all the time. I see it on the website, I mark it in my calendar, then I forget like the retarded, fickle spazzcase that I am.
One day, I will go to an author event at Warwick's. In the meantime, I will continue buying books from here instead of the colossal corporate bookstores, which scare me.

The bad news is that small, independent bookstores are a dying breed, pushed out of existence by the large chains (Borders, Barnes & Noble) and the big-box superstores (Costco, Wal-Mart). The good news is that we have one of the very best small, independent bookstores -- still alive and well -- right here in La Jolla: Warwick's. If you're a book lover, you've found your place. Great selection, and the salespeople are EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the books they sell. Also, Warwick's is the preferred stop for top-tier book signings, and you're likely to have an opportunity to meet anyone from Anne Rice to Malcolm Gladwell to Margaret Thatcher. And if you're an author, as I am, you've also found your place. I've done a couple of book signings at Warwick's, and the staff did a super job publicizing and supporting the events. They even secured space at the La Jolla library when one of my signings morphed into a workshop that drew more than 100 people. Five stars!
