They have great discount prices, a really wide selection, and no fuss.
My go-to place for all my wine + spirits. :D
The only drawback is that they have an extensive selection of shochu + sake, but I wished they had more of what I like. Mitsuwa (in NJ) has a better selection of sakes.
Best place ever!!! (for alcohol)
Good prices, lotssssssssssssssss of selections!
Super cute shopping carts!
Super friendly and knowledgeable sales people!
The bad thing is figuring how to carry 15 bottles of Scotch, Vodka and a must have Martini shaker when you're done shopping...ouch! my back!
I wasn't planning on coming here, but it was right down the street from Bank of America in NoHo. I'd been going to Trader Joe's to pick up casual drinking wine.
I went directly to the Bordeaux '05 section and they had a nice selection. I touched the bottles and they seemed warmer than they should be. (usually 40-45 degrees). But the weather was pretty cold outside and may have had an influence.
With wines, especially Bordeaux you get what you pay for. If you're paying for a wine that is $30, I would visit a real nice wine shop that way you know for sure the wine is taken care of.
Anyhow, the selection here is amazing, and reminds me of Specs though there I don't have to be worried about temp control. I picked up a Vieilles Vignes 05 Bordeaux Chateau La Gatte, for only $16.99 (marked down from $22.99)!! And they had a nice South American section, a Cruz Alta Cab Sauv. Reserve 2006 for only $10.99!!
In summary, this is the place one should go to spend $30 dollars on a couple of nice bottles to enjoy at the house while eating food or watching tv shows, not Trader Joe's. Staff was nice in that they knew the wines and ha tried the ones I was interested in.
It's a nice place, I'm just a bit skeptical to think they could manage to take care of all those wines... very crowded and temp control is a main concern... all from touching the Bordeaux... oh dear... what have I done. I would though come here if I was in NoHo for another $16-17 dollar Bordeaux, if my quest fails me.
The selection is amazing, and though the weird off-years did kind of raise a brow, all of the liquor is both decently priced and well-stocked. I love all of the extra accessories that you're able to purchase (wine and shot glasses, cases, etc); the size and variety is a party hostess' dream come true.
While most of the staff is generally helpful and friendly, we ended up getting saddled with a near-impossible cashier upon checkout, which almost ruined our experience. I'm not exactly familiar with customary carding in NYC, and while I have no problem showing off my hideous I.D., the fact that we were carded for buying -wine glasses- was just strange, not to mention our cashier's sour attitude and the fact that he would not except a state I.D.; to add insult to injury, he insisted that we were underaged, even as he read off the month and year of my friend's birthday - she had turned 21 a month before. Hey, buddy; forget how to count?
My local places stock well enough that I won't really need to dip into this place often. While one sour experience should never leave a mark for life, I still feel pretty offput by the service that night.
Thanks to my fellow Yelpers' for this recommendation. I went today to stock up on some liquor for a party and I could not believe how low the prices were.
The staff was very helpful and courteous too. It was well worth a quick ride from The Bronx. Will go again.....
I just brought back three 375ml of liquors: Russian Standard Vodka $6.99, Tequila Reserva 1800 Reposado $10.99 and Belle De Brillet (Pear Cognac)$9.99.
If you're the type who likes to browse through the store without asking for help and love digging through their bargain section, then this place is for you.
(One of the thing that caught my eye was the Crystal Head Vodka.
I will come back for that soon.... very soon.)
Ah Warehouse Wines and Spirits...This place is great. Cheap wine and liquor galore!
I am an unemployed, recent college grad a.k.a broke. Warehouse satiates my alcohol needs for much cheaper than other liquor stores. In fact, they have the cheapest product I've found in the city. They have a huge selection of cheap wines. The staff can be a little snooty and rude but at these prices, I don't much care. I think it's strange they don't have one of those little machines to verify the authenticity of an ID. I am reluctant to officially be a New Yorker and still haven't switched to a NY license. Every time I hand over my MT license they give me the stink eye while quizzing me on my info. Oh well.
Lots of cheap wines to choose from and their hard A is always noticeably cheaper than other stores. Good stuff.
In a city like New York, you have to know where to go to get what you need with speed and at a price that's nice. (Yes, I just did that.)
There's not much more to say other than that this is, in my analysis, the least expensive liquor store in New York City. The place is huge, there are tons of (sometimes overly) helpful staffers running around asking if you need any help, and the selection of wines and spirits is impressive to say the least.
So how cheap is cheap? I'm a bourbon drinker and a bottle of Buffalo Trace, which would run you $35 in Williamsburg, is $22. A bottle Bushmills is $18. A handle of Smirnoff is $21...HANDLE. And there are tons of wines in the $10 and under category.
I have moved all over this city. I've lived in The Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, Lower East Side, and the East Village. It doesn't matter where I live, THIS is my "neighborhood" liquor store. When I don't want to roam and just drink at home or go to a party that is B Y O B...when I need to douse, I head to Warehouse.
As you enter, it's impossible to avoid the offbeat, sour odor of curry cooking, the very very very large, sweating man propped up on a counter, or the scared security guy without teeth, but you don't get to be insulted by the rude rude rude clerk named Adam until you check out. They save the worst for last.
So we said, finally, "Enough, we'll pay a dollar more down the street at their competitor." Yes, Warehouse is cheaper and sometimes the wine is spoiled because they buy closeouts, but what fun is it when large sweating man insults my wife, and the wife of our neighbor, and the security guy without the teeth uses the f word as his preferred adjective.
Into self-abuse? Then shop there. Curious about Nasty Adam? Shop there. We've had it.
ehhh.
you will find weird off years here which begs the question, were these wines kept okay?
if you know what youre doing, you can find some decent wines. but if you don't head over a few blocks and ask for help at Astor Wines even though i'm not a fan of Astor's either.
The selection is so good it's overwhelming, and the prices are nice too. I suppose it's a little large to offer the help some places provide for navigating such large quantities of alcohol.
My handy dandy Yelp bookmarks page tells me that I've had this on my "to try" list for FOUR long months. That should tell you how often I got out of the house during my last semester of grad school...
Nevertheless, for a wine and liquor store in NYC (where real estate costs muchos mula), this place is BIG. Not huge compared to suburbia, but who cares about them? A tear came to my eye when I saw the infinite expanse of wine rack after wine rack...and I damn near started cyring when I realized that they actually classified the different types of wines correctly!
I was on a mission for some Captain Morgan for a party tonight and I managed to find a bottle for under $20! A name brand for under $20? Now that's good. I perused the aisles just to check out their selection and they have everything from "Ramen-addicted college student" cheap to "look at me I'm a fancy dancy professional" expensive. And of course, the "wee I have money as a young professional but not that much" in the middle prices. I choose option C.
There are specialty liquors, mixers, and for the first time in recent memory, I actually saw Blue Curacao, which is an essential ingredient in one of my favorite cocktails (aptly named the Adios Motherf*cker). Cheap wines. Grey Goose. Red wines. Gin. Yummy wines. Rum. I could go on. But I won't. I have a bottle of Captain Morgan and a party awaiting me...
By all means, shop here if you are a complete masochist. You are guaranteed to find:
WRETCHED SERVICE
RUDE, DISGUSTING STAFF
SPOILED WINE WAY TOO OFTEN
FILTHY, NARROW AISLES
NOTHING YOU CAN'T GET DOWN THE STREET
No one needs to be so desperate they can't spend a buck more elsewhere, like at Astor Wines just down Lafayette. If you want good wine selection shop online at PJ Wine and they'll deliver your case for free. The only reason this god-awful place stays in business is the sheer volume of nyu students with their fake id's who know they'll squeeze by.
Are you there, Cheap Vodka? it's me, David.
Sometimes I'm a little obsessive -- what, isn't it normal to have 13 complete performances (6 on DVD, 7 on CD) of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen? Anyway, as soon as I get off my lazy ass and decide to venture to Warehouse, for the entire duration pretty much the only word that comes out of my mouth (repetitively) is "drank!"
This store has an awesome selection of uncommon liquors from different parts of the world, all at terrific prices: Pisco, Cachaça, Slivovitz, Grappa, etc... For tastes more mainstream, they also offer everything from bottles of the very best Scotches and Gins and Vodkas and Tequilas to magnums of the very worst (which are still, of course, quite drinkable) FOR CHEAP.
A good friend of mine is a Sommelier and she helped form my opinion of their wine selection and presentation: they do not transport or store things properly (even before it hits the shelves), and although the prices may at first seem incredible, you're only getting what you pay for -- cork taint, oxidation, "cooked" qualities, etc.
I like this store. Best value in Manhattan. Good selection.
I've been coming here for 5 years and I just realized that they've always treated me like crap.
They always give me issues about my ID (I'm over 21 and its real) and today they yelled at me twice for really no good reason.
this place has a wonderful selection and great prices for anyone who enjoys being mistreated.
This place is very bad for someone like me to live within walking distance. The selection is just perfect. I can choose between at least a few dozen tequilas, hundreds of wines and even some tasty cheap champagne.
I promise you, you will not find a cheaper place than this in the city. Rock bottom prices for the same stuff.
Also the staff really knows their stuff surprisingly. I asked to recommend a silver tequila to make margarita's and it was actually much better than my old tequila.
Stock up on your favorite liquor for a fraction of the price.
I was dismayed to find there are over 70 reviews of this place in Yelp. I thought I had discovered it and was trying to keep it a secret. I buy wine (about a case a week) nowhere else.
I only wish they listed their current stock on line.
East Village A-list.
Watch out for:
-cucumber vodka
-apple pie schnapps
-Tamdhu
-Belvedere triple pack
I always feel like such a lush when I walk out of this place. The prices are so good and the selection is so massive, I just can't stop myself from walking out with bags full of booze. I feel like a kid in a candy store.
But seriously, their selection is great. As far as wine goes, they're on par pricewise with Trader Joes, but their quality is much better. I'm a wannabe oenophile, so I like having a reserve of wine on hand should an occasion arise. However, I also work in non-profit, so I have to keep my wannabe oenophile ways on a budget. Thankfully I have WW&S.
The prices are so low it's like having duty free at home. They have obscure aperitifs I can't live without, nor find anywhere else. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful - they've never steered me wrong on wine, even when purse strings are short and tight. If every store offered the quality, value, attitude and service as Warehouse, the world would be a much better place.
Yeah, I'm gushing. But I also buy all my booze here even though I live in Hell's Kitchen.
Selection was okay and the prices were low. I just would like good customer service and less annoying customers.
I had a guy stand uncomfortably close to me looking at Italian reds, and then passed in front me of several times all while standing very close to me. It was really annoying and unpleasant since I was clearly looking at those wines first. When I checked out and paid with my debit card, my card was swiped, a minute and a half went by, the guy played some sort of game on his cell phone, I interrupted him to ask for the receipt to sign, which he finally gave me. Ah, what cashier in their right mind plays with their cell phone -- during -- a customer transaction? This place is definitely not Union Square Wines which is much nicer and has a great selection and a knowledgeable and caring staff. Keep walking!
Bought 2 bottles of wine. One had turned and gone bad. The other was overpriced. Everyone that works there looks like they are casing the joint. Not a great place.
Thanksgiving Eve was upon my crew and I so I let them know about this cool place I happened upon when exiting the train on 8th Street.
Discounts galore are the major draw here where you can find all your party essentials for less. This is my new favorite place to stock up and stop by before a party. With the economy in a rough state, we all need to be wise about spending, and since everyone needs a stiff one after reviewing their portfolio, stop here before imbibing.
Good place to grab a wide variety of liquor. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful, without breathing down your neck. Some of them can be surly, but I'd rather deal with that than a fake happy-go-lucky attitude ('cough' Trader Joes). Selection is very good, and the prices are great considering this. Separate lines for cash and credit make things easier when checking out. Not worth traveling a great distance to, but great if you're in the neighborhood. Best of all they ID pretty hard, so no little NYU punks running around!
This is the best place I have found to buy wine, period. I have written down the prices of some bottles that I know exist at several other wine stores around the city and compared. Warehouse's prices are consistently cheaper. Even with your super insider-only 20% discount it is still cheaper here. There are no case discounts here because everything is already very discounted.
Second to the amazing prices is the selection. This is what sets it apart from trader joe's. There thousands of bottles of wine here. Everything from 4 dollar chard (I recommend the recession special) to wines well over a hundred dollars.
This place is best for those who want to walk into a place, grab what they want and pay the least amount for it.
This place is worst for those who either have no idea what they want and are looking for someone take the time to give them a full education or those who feel that because they are a customer in a wine shop they should be treated as an A-lister. Nope, sorry. It is going to be packed and look exactly like a "warehouse" and while the staff will give you recommendations, don't expect them to bend over backwards.
This place is a GOD SEND.
Whether in New York City or even in the suburbs, I have never been to a liquor and wine shop this inexpensive before. Seriously - ever!
Warehouse has a great wine selection. The prices are about at par with Trader Joe's Wine Shop for the products they do sell in common, which is about as low as you will ever find them. Warehouse's selection however beats the pants off Trader Joe's. Even if Warehouse wasn't a discount retailer, I'd still shop there just for the robust wine selection. I get my favorite reds (Penfold's) for about 35% less than other retail stores and champagnes/proseccos at about 25% less than I'd normally pay. A magnum of Veuve Clicquot is $89!
The liquor selection is INSANE. There are vodkas there that I've never even seen elsewhere. There are great deals like a 1.5 L of Absolut Raspberry for $23.99 or any 1L of Stoli for $26.99. At most liquor stores a 750 ML of Stoli is $32.99. There are also great deals on twin packs of bottles and larger quantity bottles. If you are throwing a party this is absolutely the place to stock up - amazing selection, hard-to-find liquors and you will likely save 25-35% off of what you'd pay at a "regular" liquor or wine shop.
Warehouse also has great gift packages, like Perrier Jouet, Grey Goose or Patron for much less than you'd pay at somewhere like Costco.
I foresee many years of bliss thanks to Warehouse. It's a Jewish alcoholic's dream!
The awesome variety and selection is enough to draw me into NYU hell-dom for a bottle of wine that beats Trader Joe's Charles Shaw by a buck (on clearance for $2.99.) The little bottles of liquor are also excellent for sampling (or to lug around one's bag for emergencies) though the staff does get on my nerves a bit
Great selection and great prices. The people who work there are a little brush. When I was paying today, the cashier and a manager were arguing over something... didn't give me any attention. But I guess it was fast!
I get drunk looking at this place.
Warehouse has the ultimate, ultimate selection of cheapalicious boozies. All the major lable boozes are seriously, almost priced at half-off compared to the rest of Manhattan. If I've having a party with 50 of my closest friends I would definitely stop by here.
It's nice that it's right near school too...../...//////////////////// liquid dinner before night class....
As an update: the mentioned bottle of Boru Irish Vodka was a huge hit at the party that night!! We finished the whole thing!

Great selection, great prices. One of the only places in NYC that I've found Weller 7yr and the ONLY place that I've found that sells the handle. Although, at $40, I'll buy better bourbon.
Three stars because of a completely condescending employee. An older, overweight gentleman, was helping me decide on a new bottle of Scotch. I'm 30 years old and have only recently, over the past 4-ish years, begun truly enjoying Scotch. I've tried several different bottles and now feel as though I have a novice amount of knowledge on flavor profiles and what I like. I know I am no expert, but that's why I'm here, right? To try new bottles to further understand the nose and bouquet of each. This gentleman pretty much told me between scoffs that I didn't know what I was talking about and that one of my favorites tastes terrible. Thanks, buddy. Perhaps, if you are so supremely knowledgeable on the subject, you could have helped me by teaching and merely told me that you didn't personally enjoy the Laphroaig 10yr, but others (like me) do. Thanks for wasting my time.
I went in to buy a bottle of scotch and a bottle of champagne. I told the gentleman, "Thanks," left his kingdom, and bought only a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rose.
I'll be back the next time I'm in the area. Maybe I'll make a special trip there. But I will say nothing more to this man other than, "I don't need your help, thank you."
Excellent selection and outstanding service.
One of the few places I feel comfortable walking into, grabbing someone on the floor, giving them loose specs and/or an approximate spending amount, and just agreeing to buy whatever they suggest blind.
Honestly, I've done it a few times (some for pleasure and some for presents), and have never been disappointed. Fantastic.
Dear Warehouse Wines & Spirits,
Thank you for selling me the cheapest booze in Manhattan. I will continue to shop at you for all of my party needs. Every time I think I have found a bottle of wine for a decent price, you are selling it for less. You are like a little gift to my wallet.
Sincerely,
Alex
I'd like to say, for my own sake, that there should not be a source of shockingly cheap liquor located so close to where I live. But I won't.
I applaud your efforts, Warehouse Wine and Spirits, for bringing the quality spirits I relish, practically to my doorstep.. Please- carry on!
The only drawback is that it's very busy.. All the time. Be prepared to brave the rapids of the booze tsunami.
The prices, the selection, the super helpful/friendly/all around awesome staff... Oh how I love this place...
Basically this place is awesome. If there were one in California, I wouldn't know what to do with myself....
It's a liquor store. What's not to love?
Well, there aren't all that many facets of a liquor store to comment on but:
-They do indeed have a wide selection of liquor and wine.
-Prices lean towards inexpensive.
-It's not far from me, and I like that.
I do however wish they were open later, and yes it is annoying getting carded almost every time as I don't really look underage.
Ooooh, also it's pretty cool that they sell all that super-cheap glassware. Need shot glasses? Go grab some for 50 cents each and smash 'em afterwards. Then go back the next day and buy some more.
This place is great. Cannot beat the prices on the liquor. Wine prices are good but liquor is outrageous. Never seen such a wide selection at such low prices. Staff is pretty good and I've come to know who to ask about wines. All seem pretty knowledgeable but there's one who's recommendations have sucked. I guess we have different tastes. Is it worth a trip across town it to save $5 on a bottle of bourbon? Not always; but if you're in the neighborhood, stop in. If your having a party and need to stock up make the trip you won't be disappointed.
This place is awesome. Alot of cheap booze makes me happy. I think I will start dancing as soon as I walk in this spot next time and enjoy the vodka or Captain Morgan that I will buy.
Today, I got my first fan!
You really made my day, first fan! Thank you!
Since I'm not big on writing reviews of people, I will dedicate a review of one of the dearest places to my heart to you. I really hope that you enjoy drinking, so that you can experience the wonders of WW&S.
I first stumbled upon this place last year when I had exactly one hour to get ready for a party and grab a bottle of something along the way. Considering it can take me that long just to get ready, I knew I was playing a mind game with myself. However, on the rare occasion, my optimistic self actually wins, and this is one such occasion, thanks to the expedient service I received here.
I walked in and marveled over all of the selections of wines, vodkas, gins, scotches, whiskeys, and on and on (not too keenly, mind you since I was still in a hurry). The rows and rows of liquors and wines almost mesmerized me until a friendly staff asked if I needed assistance. With a quick description of the occasion, the friendly staff picked out the perfect item in a matter of two minutes. I paid in what seemed like the express line and was in a cab five minutes later and made it to the party on time (which is a first!).
Subsequent visits have allowed me to explore their variety of wines from all over the world and all price ranges. I've discovered a whole new part of the world, red-wine-wise, and it's opened my palate up in ways that I never imagined. I'm still working my way to drinking white wine, but in the meantime, they also have an excellent variety of scotches. Yum! The only thing I couldn't find here was soju, but that's to be expected.
Since I can never seem to remember how much I pay for alcohol not in a bar, I can't comment too much on comparative pricing. However, given the level of service and the general pricing of certain types of liquor, I'd say this place is pretty fair.
Enjoy the exploration!
