Review from Eri H.
This is a great playground for toddlers and preschool age children. The park is clean and in very well equipped. The climbing structures are great fun for the children and there are plenty of benches where you can sit and relax a little while your little one is having fun. The other great benefit is: Dogs are not permitted so no worries if your child runs around the grass area.
Check it out! Worth driving the extra mile for a great park experience! -

Our daughter is 2.5 and this is a great park for her age range.. a really cute simple park. I get really nervous on some of the bigger kid play structures at other parks.
They also have a huge field behind the park that is vacant a lot of the time. We like to try to wear her out and let her run back there.
A couple of things I don't like:
The sand- it's slippery on the concrete and I've seen what I presume to be cat fecal matter in it before.
At Dusk- older kids start hanging around smoking out. -

Small kids play area that features unique play structures not found else where. Tucked away behind Townsend field behind Washington Open school. Large green grassy field. Bathrooms. Only 2 picnic tables, but 8 benches. War memorial flag pole and concrete army ants the size of sheep make this another hidden get away in Santa Clara.

Love this little hidden park. Perfect size play structures for 2 year olds. Nice, clean, sand play. I love that modern day "teeter totter". The ants are fun too. My 2 year old likes to run up and down the little grass hills surrounding the park. Down side, the bathrooms lock early, like before 5pm. No bueno for a freshly potty trained 2 year old.
(I did hear through the grapevine that they were experiencing lots of vandalism, hence the bathrooms locking early.) -

This park was first described as a park with a lot of ants. That sounded awful to me, because I didn't know they meant giant ant sculptures. At the intersection of Monroe Street and Rip Miller Way, you can find the War Memorial Playground, more commonly known as "The Ant Park".
Surprisingly, my daughter is totally uninterested in the ants. But she loves the play structures here, which are very new and unusual. There are swings, including a "big kid's swing" that is low enough for a toddler to get on. The baby swings have short chains and are therefore annoying to push your child on. But the climbing structures are great.
This park is worth a trip to explore.
I believe they put this where the Washington Park swimming pool used to be. It is part of the larger Washington Park complex.Listed in: Parks

the structures at this playground are perfect for my very active 2 yr old. lots of things for her to climb up on and it is very different from the typical toddler playground. it is very clean. bathroom was stocked while we were there. lots of benches and a couple of tables to eat at. the trees are small, so none provide real shade over the benches or tables. you have to be willing to sit on the grass if you want shade.
we will be back! -

This is one of the newest parks in Santa Clara, and the best part about it is is the ant theme. My 2-year-old loves climbing on the and sculptures and in the ant hill. It also has some cool and unusual playground equipment that I've never seen at any other parks, like an arch-shaped teeter-totter and rope climbing structure. The spongy play surface is great for cushioning falls, and the small play structure is the perfect scale for younger kids.
Some of the downsides of this park are that it has no shade and can get windy, the parking lot can get crowded during Little League season since the lot is shared, and sometimes the kids from the adjacent middle school hang out and monopolize areas of the park. Also, I've seen a little bit of graffiti, and once there was an office chair abandoned in the middle of the park. Some moms I know dislike that it is set off of the street because they feel isolated; others love it for the same reason. I also wish there was more than just one big-kid's swing (there are more toddler "bucket" swings).
