Two of my closest friends just got married here.  It was pretty much The Best Wedding Evar!@!

Most people would have gone with the Milwaukee Art Museum, you know, art, culture, world-wide architectural fame, blah blah blah; but natch, it's more expensive.  The War Memorial is surprisingly affordable, features indoor and outdoor facilities, its own parking lot, views of the lake, the art museum and the schooner from Discovery World [when the schooner went sailing by the wedding was a Pirate Wedding for awhile].  The height of the outdoor patios at the War Memorial make it perfect for mooning a wedding that might be going on at the lower grounded Art Museum.  If such a thing were to happen, I mean.  The pool with the Eternity Flame is really not recommended for lighting cigarettes, but is a beautiful photo op - only I don't suggest wagering on who is going to fall into it.  Because they won't.  The outdoor patios are popular for an outdoor ceremony, and the natural beauty of the lake in the background and the art museum's winged roof make some kick ass wedding photos.  See, you can't have the art museum in the background like this if you are AT the museum.

If you are wearing high heels because you want to be dressed up and fancy, you don't need to bother with the stairs, the elevators will take you anywhere, even to the lowest levels that spit out into the Art Museum so you can use the ATM for the cash bar.  The elevator system also mimics the tube in London, announcing each floor and purpose every damn time you use it.

The War Memorial provides access to a suite for the bride's party to change in and unlimited access to the public restrooms.  The Hall is large, but not cavernous and has a nice, spongy dancefloor.  This is a really beautiful, fun and friendly venue for events - staff are super nice and hands off and you might even feel like you are back to 7th grade at one of those sleepovers that your friends would have at a hotel with a swimming pool and then you'd all get strung out on candy and soda and play 7 Minutes in Heaven in the hotel room bathroom.
