AMAZING CHEESECAKE. Great cappuccinos. Cute atmosphere.

If you need to know more, read the reviews already written. I'm tired today.

Amazing. The people who work here are about the nicest group of people I've ever met. I just recently moved to this part of Astoria (literally, from 10 blocks further...) and I am so glad to find this place.

The iced coffee was amazing. They even went through the trouble of melting the sugar. Had probably the best muffin of my life- caramel apple- and it was big enough for my boyfriend and I to share!

Loved the decor and ambiance so much (comfortable, laid back, supre cool antiques and tables) we went back to use the outdoor seating that night- THE best sangria! Super fresh, and at $6 a glass, not terribly priced.

Visit. Now.

By far the best coffee place I've found in Astoria.  Good music, lots of space, and very relaxed (I'm here on a saturday afternoon and I'm the only customer here).  Oh yeah, and the coffee's good too.

Really great place to read or sketch or go online.  I'm glad I found this place!

It's a great place to study at on a quiet weekend.  The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the decor has character.  It has an eclectic soundtrack that ranges from No Doubt to Jack Johnson to Taking Back Sunday to so many other artists that were on the tip of my tongue but I never was able to put a finger on.  On a side note: I  I LOVE their Carrot Cake as well as their Carrot Cheese Cake!!

The cons is that it's a little bit of a walk from the Astoria/Ditmars NW.

In what sounded like a hotel at first but is really a small little spot deep along Ditmars in Astoria, Waltz Astoria is a nice place to kick it and relax to some soothing jazz music.  Had I not been invited here by a friend, I would have never discovered this little gem off the beaten path.  Its not a place to bring heaps of people, but just happens to be a nice spot for a nice conversation between 2-4 folks while sipping beers and people watching.

For a creative marketing effort and money saver, the workers here frequently "chalk" their advertisements on the sidewalks in Astoria.  Its clever and tends to grab the attention of people as they roam the streets of Ditmars.  Prices are fair, at which beer is $3-5 a pop and the service is fantastic.  Its a great chill neighborhood spot for the relaxing summer afternoon or the cool evening breeze or the jazzy winter nights. Its not a place I'd recommend for people to go out of their way to visit, but definitely one to catch when in the area.

Is this a command? Well yes, then, I will waltz right into this sexily hidden away coffee & wine shop a hop skip and a jump from my place of residence.

Lucky for me I stumbled upon Waltz on the first ever blues night. To my delight a free concert and a free cookie piqued my interest in a place I plan to frequent for as long as I live in Astoria anyway.

There is an array of beer (domestic & imports) to choose from. My roomie had a Magic 9 for 5 bucks. Most of their espresso drinks range from 2.75 to 4.75. And a good glass of wine averages 8 but here's what you get along with your order ... sultry ambiance (take a first date here), a fun show (most nights anyway there's something awesome going on from free - 5 bucks), and free wi-fi! This winning combination kicks starbucks' butt all the way back to Seattle.

PS ... cutie that works here, you haven't seen the last of me. I saw your come hither stare. Hope you can keep up with my waltzing :-)

Nice. chill, cozy, casual atmosphere.  Music was a little strange.  I've only been here once though, but it was an okay enough of an experience that I may go back again to give it another shot.

It's a quick and rather enjoyable walk along Ditmars Avenue through a quiet neighborhood in Astoria from the last stop in Queens on the N/W subway line.

This is really a neighborhood spot.  Once you walk inside, you feel like you've entered into your bohemian friend's living room, with a mix of fairy lights, mellowed lighting, candles and an eclectic collection of furniture and wall art, complete with some bookshelves filled with an assortment of books.  There's a small mezzanine level with a bar at the back of this place that's kinda separate from the main section.

The night we went, a samba group (for their "Sambasaurus" event) was playing.  The group was made up of 3 guys (their singer and percussionist were not available that evening) with 2 guitars and a clarinet.  The pieces they performed ranged from pretty good to a little strange as I guess they were struggling with having an incomplete band that night.  The style was very informal and it felt like they were having a jam session.  There's a $2 cover for this performance.

The menu here provides a short list of reds, whites, beers, a few non-alcoholic beverages and some desserts.  We tried the chocolate cake, it came drizzled with chocolate sauce, tasted okay.

It was very quiet the night I was there, just myself and a friend plus 3 other people in the cafe.  We stayed from about 9.30pm - 11pm on a Friday night.  Service was very nice but there seemed to be just 1 waitress and most of the time she's at the back by the bar, although she did walk around occasionally to check if anything's needed.

Overall, this is a nice, chill, hangout place.  Totally neighborhoody.

Dear Waltz Astoria,

Why oh why did I not discover you sooner?  You are like a little cultural oasis amongst the gyro joints.  I happened upon your existence a few months ago, when jogging back from the park.  I made a mental note to check out your wine and coffee bar, but did not follow through on that promise until last night, when your chalk advertisments reminded me that it was your weekly Comedy Night - Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

My boyfriend and I went, and we couldn't have been more impressed with your selection of cakes (we tried your chocolate cheesecake, which was heaven), beer (a fine blueberry beer was our choice) and wine (I enjoyed a smooth Chilean pinot noir).  Your comedy night, hosted by local comedian Matt Taylor, was highly enjoyable, especially for a free show.  While some of the performers on the bill didn't elicit many laughs, a few were well worth the time and provided some of the best jokes I've heard in months.

Your decor, your service (provided by the friendly owners), your bathrooms, your book and board game collection and events calendar - filled with everything from writer's workshops to open mic nights to musical performances - were all top-notch, and I can't stop raving about the place.

However, I must leave you on a bittersweet note: unfortunately I will be moving to Brooklyn in early March, so I will not get to enjoy your presence for much longer.  I'll make a steadfast effort to come back as many times as possible between now and then, and my boyfriend even said once we move we should try to come out to visit once in awhile, which sounds good in theory but I am more realistic, so I think the chances of that happening are slim, given my general laziness.  I guess the best I can do for you is pass the word along to fellow and future Astorians: make the Waltz a staple of your existence and you won't be disappointed.  There's a little something for everyone, so waltz on in.

Yours Truly,
Michelle

After living right across the street from this place for a year, I finally went over to check it out a few weeks ago. I must say, I was very disappointed with myself for not going over sooner! It's a cute little cafe/bar but I'd really like to call it just a cafe. It doesn't have that bar feel or smell.

Small tables, books all over the place, and space for a little band to set up or comedians to come perform (comedy show on Tuesday's). They serve a very good selection of beer. I found one of my new favorites there, Alagassa. They also have a wide variety of coffee drinks and slices of cake bigger than my face.

A few nights a week they have live jazz, which on the night that I went, there was a jazz band playing there. It was great. Sitting outside (4 or 5 outdoor tables) on a cool night, listening to jazz and drinking a really good beer. What more could one ask for?

i just discovered this tiny coffee/wine shop and it was love. decorated with so much care and thought you just can't help but look around--very cute! their cakes are fresh and yummy, good selection of coffee and tea, friendly relaxed service. they offer WiFi for a small charge (i think a dollar or two an hour) if you wanna sit and soak it up. i am definitely planning on going back--they seem to have a strong selection of wines and a schedule filled with poetry readings, music performances, and even comedy night (their website has the full line-up). love love love!
