Oh my goodness, where do I start?!

If I could live in a world where I could snack on Waldo's Pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and never gain a pound, I would be in heaven. I have eaten at Waldo's for years (both KC and LS locations), and everytime I do, I find myself becoming strangely obsessive with their food...I have a hard time sharing my pizza, and if someone is grabbing for a piece, I snatch it out of their hand and shove it in my mouth like there's no tomorrow....it's THAT good. I would strike, shove, and kill for their cheesy goodness on a crispy, thin crust! And their cheesy garlic breadsticks for an appetizer send me over the edge everytime. If someone ever so slightly glances at my heaping pile of cheesy bliss on a plate, they better run for the door.

Everything, I mean EVERYTHING, on that menu is to die for. My mouth is salivating right now just typing this review. I am obsessed.

When first moving to the Waldo area I frequented this pizza joint on numerous occasions. The quality and copious amounts of toppings overjoyed me so every time I went it was like trying a new pizza.  The crust, although a bit thin, is crispy but I am still in the liking due to its slight breadiness.  The sauces are excellent as well. The marina is not sweet and sugary, and the pesto has quite a basil bite. The only other food item that I have ordered here is a slice of chocolate overload cake. It to met my high expectations of a grand sugar rush. I was actually surprised that a pizza place has such a marvelous tasting chocolaty dessert.
In addition to the great pizza the service here is great.  The servers here always offer lemon for my water or tea and the pizza is always brought out fresh. Over all this is a great pizza place and do have plans to return often.

Maybe I'm just not a fan of St Louis style but I have a hard time figuring out why everyone raves about the pie here.  It's not terrible by any means but there are much better places out there.  The cheese mix that they use (cheeze-wiz like spread) just doesn't do it for me.
I will give them props on their salad bar though.  Great mix of toppings and the Westport Peppercorn dressing is fantastic.  They really don't offer anything too different on their salad bar that you can't find elsewhere but for some reason I always make myself a GREAT salad when I'm here.
The service is usually very good and on weekends they used to sell $2 cans of old-school beer in the waiting area (Schlitz, PBR, etc) which made the typical 45 minute wait on a Saturday night bearable.

Dont like st. louis style pizza all that much, but I do enjoy waldo pizza.  The place can be a zoo on the weekends with families, but that is part of the charm.  I try to get the deep dish pizza which is very good.

This place rocks. The cheese crusts sound like they're small individual crusty breadsticks, but, upon arriving at your table all hot and yum-smelling, the dish is actually more like a mini cracker-crust pizza (very similar to lavash, which is part of the reason why I love it so much).

The pepperoni pizza is covered in pepperoni and comes with lots of GREASE and some tasty seasoning. In my royal opinion, grease is the best part of a pizza. Well, 9 times out of 10 it is. There's always that one greasy pie that puts you off flat snacks for a while, but pizza grease hiatuses never last long. If you're not a pepperoni fan I wouldn't suggest ordering this. Why? Because every inch is covered in it. Even pepperoni-lovers like myself might be all pepperonied out by the time this pizza is finished.

They also have the grungiest trivial pursuit cards you can ever imagine on their tables. So if you're company is boring you can always quiz yourself, and if they're not boring, then you can quiz each other. Everyone wins.

The pizza at Waldo is great.  But even better than the pizza is the salad bar.  The salad bar is the absloute best in town.

The options on pizza are limitless.  Three different crusts, multiple sauces, cheeses and toppings.  I am a simple pepperoni person, and they make a great pizza.  The service can be hit or miss, sometimes it is a bit slow, but always friendly.

However, do yourself a favor and skip the buffet if you are there at lunch time.  You'll enjoy it more if you order exactly what you want and eat it fresh out of the oven.  Some of the buffet pies are allowed to sit up there for a while.

I'm not saying this as a elitist pizza snob from New York but as a friend to all my local Kansas Citians. Waldo Pizza, not so much.  I am told the part of the restaurant we sat in was a new addition which was cozy, spacious, and enjoyable. The waitress nicely put up with my perv friends comments and brought us our food promptly and took good care of us. The saving grace of the food was a cream cheese pie I had, not too terrible. The trivial pursuit cards on each table was undoubtedly my favorite part of the experience, my least favorite was the crust. Is it just some weird curse that Kansas CIty has in which good crust can never be made. I've had that good New York style crust out side of KC, like Santullo's in Chi-Town, why not here. If I could get fresh toppings on Original Pizza's crust I think I might be able to enjoy pizza again. Until then I will just eat pizza when I visit family and eat Anna Marie's in Brooklyn.

Love it.  Although I was served a very egg-containing gluten-free cupcake instead of a vegan cupcake, I have forgiven them.

The staff is die-hard and genuine; I have seen a lot of the same staff for years.  They have plenty of unusual toppings -- shallots, sliced almonds, fresh basil... mmm -- and several sauces and crusts.

Of course the best part of all is that they have both completely gluten-free and completely vegan pizza.  They almost always have simple desserts of both varieties as well.  They use Follow Your Heart vegan  cheese, my favorite, and the quality is consistently good.

I haven't had any problems with dirty tables, a problem another reviewer noted.  I would of course never be afraid to ask if my table was dirty... I do not tend toward silent suffering.
They have pizza stands, new to me, that give you extra table space, like a pizza mezzanine.  There's a juke box, a sit-down arcade game (Ms. Pac Man, I think?), candy/toy machines that offer fake bling and gumballs, and Trivial Pursuit cards on the tables to entertain you while you wait for pizza, if you haven't already hit up the very popular salad bar.

They have a really fantastic selection of beer and wine on top of the full bar -- really -- fantastic.  Covers everything for me.

Oh, and they will deliver anywhere in Kansas City, they just calculate the delivery charge based on the distance.  They will actually *deliver vegan pizza* to my door all the way up in Columbus park... well worth it if I was having a pizza party.

I think it is a great little pizza joint.  Trying to be conservative and not give 5 stars.

I don't care for it.

And yes, I gave it two stars.

Becasue.........I don't care for it.

The pizza here is horribly overhyped. Now don't get it twisted, It does not taste bad by any means, but it's just not as spectacular as people say it is. It taste good, but it's not "Oh my! let me skip paying rent because I wanna eat here everyday!" kinda good. It's decent and for buffet pizza, I would say it taste miles and miles ahead of the disgusting pizza buffet chains.

The cleanliness here is always frustrating. Hence, this is why I give it two stars instead of three. I've gone on three separate occasions and I have yet to get there, and the table not stick to my clothing or arms. That's disgusting. And it's also unnecessary.

I may bump it up a star once they get their "table cleaning" issues aside. I understand every once in a while you may get an overworked busboy, but the tables constantly being disgusting time and time again is a letdown.

I've come here twice...but only ate once.  I had just missed the lunch buffet and only wanted a slice (which they don't do otherwise).  So I came back the next day still craving pizza, but hungry enough for the whole deal.  Man, I got my money's worth.

The salad bar was surprisingly good.  I mean, it wasn't extraordinary, but just fresh and had all the good options.  I had 2 platefuls!  I'm not sure if they make their own ranch dressing, but it tasted a bit different and tasty.  I kept hitting up the pizza at the wrong time, because there was only cheese or everything pizza leftover when I made it through.  There was this guy next to me that kept getting platefuls of yummy looking fresh pizza.  Oh well, next time.

Oh, and the pasta was pretty yummy too.  Like I said, I got my money's worth and will be back for more.

5 because of the selection. My last visit, I wasn't as impressed as usual, the gf picked this thin crust selection I wasn't crazy about. But usually I am more than happy with their pizza.

From other reviews here though, apparently I need to try the St. Louis. Gotta remember that.

And as others have mentioned, you can quiz yourself or others with multiple selections of trivial pursuit cards on each table. Nice.

The magician... so that's how those cards got on the ceiling... always wondered about that.

I'm only 20 years old but dammit, I know my pizza.

I spent the last year in New York, tasting the city's best, from Grimaldi's to Lombardi's, I'm almost a little vain about it. :)

But woe to any New Yorker or New Jersian or Chicagoan for that matter, who scoffs at the St. Louis style pizza that Waldo best delivers. The cut may be thin, and the shape may be square, but the definitive flavor and texture of the provolone, swiss, and white cheddar cheese combo on the cracker thin crust is anything but funny.

The pizza is Kansas City at its best and worth the growing wait of an hour and 45 minutes on a Friday night. The traditional hand-tossed option is alright, but I'm telling you, order the St. Louis! They even have gluten-free and vegan friendly alternatives!

The neighborhood favorite is a true establishment and packs all ages from all walks of life, so inside the restaurant it's no surprise to see a fifth-graders birthday party sat next to a beer-guzzling group of college basketball fanatics, cheering on the game from the multiple television sets provided in the corners of  each room.

As of late, Waldo  opened up an after-hours bar called the Tap Room adjacent to the restaurant, serving pizza until midnight after close. Now Waldo Pizza can cure any hangover; it's a hell of a lot better than aspirin! :)

I don't know how I've passed by this pizza joint so many times without ever giving it a thought. On a recommendation by a friend, my boyfriend and I headed up there on a Thursday night, at about 7. We didn't feel like waiting for 25 minutes for a table, so instead we sat up at the small bar. That was a good choice.

Our bartender (didn't catch his time, but wish we had), was knowledgeable about all 102 beers they carry. We just told him our favorite kinds of beer, and he recommended different beers to us. I love the selection. I'm definitely going back just for that.

The pizza was good, too. We ordered the cracker-thin crust with basil, sweet red peppers and pepperoni for me, and basil, pepperoni and mushrooms for my boyfriend. The pizza came out in good time even though it was still pretty busy. And it was delicious. My boyfriend's not a fan of thin-crust pizzas, but he still ate his half. Plus, we now have a good excuse to go in soon...so we can try the hand tossed.

I love that you can get myriad toppings for your pizza, including some...er, "intriguing" ones, like chorizo, spam, crab meat and sauerkraut. Really. Who puts sauerkraut on their pizza?

The bartender also told that Waldo Pizza delivers to pretty much anywhere. From around the Waldo area to Olathe...they'll go pretty much wherever you happen to be. For that reason alone, I love the place.

This place has the greatest pizza in KC! You can pretty much invent your own, and be as creative as you want to be.  They also have a Mexican pizza that is really good, called The Tex Mex. We usually do take-out there on weekends. They do get crowded though. I have not been to the Tap Room, so I need to see how that is.

As a onetime Chicagoan, it's never even occured to me to bother to try St. Louis style pizza, but one of these days, I'll probably have to, and Waldo Pizza will be where I do so, I think.

For now, though, I'll continue to enjoy their honey whole wheat crust, crazy variety of toppings, and luscious beer list.

You're feeling that old grumble in your stomach and fear that nothing can silence the best... You rummage through the pantry and refrigerator, only to find nothing worth consuming. Maybe some cereal? HA! Your ravenous hunger scoffs at Wheaties! That's when you pick up the phone and hit speed dial for the local branch of the pizza house.

And God strikes you down.

You just failed one of life's most important tests, my friend. I hope your affairs were in order, because by choosing another pizzeria (and Domino's no less. Have ye no soul?) over the golden deliciousness of Waldo Pizza, you've forfeited your right to exist.

It's that good, people.

The first local restaurant I sampled when I moved to KC, and I find myself going back time and time again for the excellent food, the great beer selection, and the friendly staff. You'll always find interesting artwork on display, and the Trivial Pursuit cards on the tables will provide a great ice breaker for dates.

Yes, I am giving a pizza place 5 stars and I don't even care!

Waldo's is such a step back from your run-of-the-mill pizza places, totally old school style and a down to earth feel.

As other yelpers have stated, they vow that "Corporate Pizza Sucks" (they even have t-shirts for sale with this sentiment--I totally want one--in pink!) and compared to Waldo's, it does!

I got the tex-mex on the thin crust "St. Louis" style---MHHHH so good, I also didn't feel all fatty and greasy after eating it, very light and fresh! :D

Waldo's also has an array of other food items and desserts, and they deliver! I know what I'm doing this Saturday! ;)

3.5 stars, really, but I am rounding up.

I love Waldo Pizza's motto (Corporate Pizza Sucks), I love their beer list, I love the restaurant, etc.  There is usually a big wait, but have a beer & suck it up.  You hardly have to wait for a thing in Kansas City.

I hate the pizza.  The crust is thick, dense, without being chewy.  There is too much cheese.  I've tried all the crusts, and I usually order the honey whole wheat, since you know, I don't really like any of them so I might as well go healthy(ish).

It's not probably that the pizza sucks, it's just a style I find really unappealing (which is to say, not NY-style, and not Napoli-style).  I think it's like, the non-fast food version of Pizza Hut (I don't mean that as a slight-- I just prefer the sort of pizza Papa John's aspires to). So, I can't give it a bad review for a style I just don't really care for.  Plus, when a friend says "let's go to Waldo Pizza" I always say yes, because it's fun, it's cool but not particularly hip.

Pizza lunch buffets usually suck; admit it.  Waldo Pizza takes exception to that, and rightfully so.  Pizza doesn't have to suck, and there's doesn't.  Ever.  I've been to their location in Waldo and the one in Lee's Summit about half a dozen times each, and every time I've tried to get something different.  Everything is hella-tasty, and the beer selection is outstanding for a pizza joint.

I'm a huge fan of thick, doughy, crust, and Waldo seems to know that there are those out there like me who are honest with ourselves and admit that thin-crusted St. Louis style pizza might as well be served on top of Ritz crackers.  Pizza dough is a thing of beauty, and Waldo does it right.

When they're busy the servers can get a bit frazzled, even confused, but the pizza doesn't suffer.  From some creative pies to the old standards, they're one of my favorites in the city.

This is the best pizza in KC. No question (to me anyways). We live a couple of miles from this place now, but I used to drive 30-40 minutes just to get this stuff a few years ago. I highly recommend ordering it St. Louis style. It's kind of an acquired taste, but it's a wonderful cracker thin crust topped with a great mixture of cheeses. My personal favorite is a 16" St. Louis style loaded with nothing but pepperoni. Simple, but effective. But I hear other things on the menu are great too, appetizers, sandwiches, etc. We usually get an order of garlic cheese crusts, and maybe a dessert if we are really hungry.

By the way, they expanded into the building next door not that long ago, but the seating is still far less than the crowd this place generates on most nights. So be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes for a table. Fill the time with a few games of Ms. Pacman at the old table arcade game, or grab a beer or two in the tap-room. The staff is friendly, many of them have worked there for years.  Stacks of Trivial Pursuit cards sit at every table, so you can quiz each other (or yourself) while waiting for the food to arrive. On Thursday nights a local magician stops by and goes table to table to entertain (he's pretty good, check out the ceiling).  We love everything about this place. Even when you get the check, they give you a pile of chocolate candy mints. Delicious.

The lunch buffet is really good if you are hungry and want to sample several different styles of Pizza.  Be warned that depending on what time you get there, you will stand in line just to get some food.  So be ready to pile your plate up and make maybe 2 trips.

The servicre is good, they are busy and people are running around, but getting a refill on soda is easy and they clean up quickly finding places to keep the crowd flowing.

Waldo Pizza is arguably one of the best places in Kansas City to get a slice or a whole pie.  Located in the heart of Waldo, Waldo Pizza has plentiful seating, and numerous options for its patrons.  There are three styles of pizza, numerous toppings, a salad bar, pasta options and of course, my favorite; desert pizza.  Waldo Pizza also offers a vegan menu and a gluten free menu, a rare convenience for those groups.  With all these choices, one might find it hard to settle on something, but if you find yourself in that position, just do what I always do:  One large pepperoni, please.

Waldo Pizza has the best Pizza around. The menu provides enough options to satisfy anyone with choices of 8 cheeses, 26 veggies, 3 styles of crust, and 18 choices of meat or fish from crab to hamburger to spam, yes spam, this is a pizza builders heaven.  I believe spam is on the menu just to see if anyone reads that far down but I was told they do actually carry it.

The best pizza I have ever had is Waldo's St. Louis style thin crust with there  choice cut toppings, which is essentially a meat lovers pizza.  The blend of cheeses used to create this pizza is a Waldo's secret that makes the pizza my favorite.  The cheese is almost creamy.  Go ahead and order the 16" extra large no matter how small your party and take the leftovers home.  Pop it in the oven the next day just until the cheese melts and you'll wonder if its better this time than the day you went.

It can get pretty busy so I like to do carry out most of the time.

One of the first places that I ate when I moved to KC 2 years ago. After moving from Orlando, the land of Disney and chain everything, it was so awesome and refreshing to eat at a place like this. You have got to support your local pizza place, especially when it gives you great options and an anti-establishment slogan. Also there's a pizza lunch buffet, where you can try a slice of anything and everything you want. I like the restaurant because it feels like a hole in the wall but it's clean and cozy. It's definitely a place to go and hang out with your friends and laugh and not feel like you're offending other people around you. Waldo Pizza is a great Kansas City pizza joint, and you should venture outside your Pizza Hut comfort zone and try it.

Most EXCELLENT. We had the hand-tossed pizza with half pepperoni and half hawaiian. The sauce was perfect and the crust was chewy, but not doughy. There's an all-you-can eat lunch buffet that includes thin crust pizza and salad. And did we mention over 54 imported and domestic brands of beer? Best part: They deliver to our doorstep.

"Corperate Pizza Sucks" is the motto at this joint in the heart of Waldo area of Kansas City Missouri.  Nice long list of topping chioces and reasonably priced.  Pass the time with Trivia Pursuit questions and nice salad bar.  Be warned....crowded with kids at peak hours on most nights.  Suggest going after 8, or carry out.  7.99 large two topping on Mondays.
