Worth a trip just for this one coaster. I went just as it was opening. FANTASTIC!
If you're in Erie drop by as there is pretty much nothing to do in Erie, PA anyways and Waldameer is about as good as it's gonna get there.
Lets put it this way, if you want thrills, go to Cedar Point. Waldameer does not have heart stopping roller coasters, nothing close in fact. If you want something your kids (maybe ages 6 to 9) will enjoy... it's definetly worth a try. I still go because of the nostalgic experience. Not a bad day... If you do go, make sure to visit the water park as well...
Waldameer is a classic neighborhood amusement park located right on Lake Erie! This place has been around for almost a century! I spent many weekends here as a kid riding the rides, playing games, and eating junk food, so this place brings back many memories!
I love Waldameer because they still do not charge for admission. You can go in and just buy tickets for one ride- and that's exactly what I did this week! I recently returned to check out their new wooden roller coaster - the Ravine Flyer II. If you're a coaster fan, you have to check this one out. It is FAST! It probably goes about 68 miles per hour! The first hill is the best - it takes you high up above the treetops for a view of Lake Erie, before speeding over a 4-lane highway! It does not stop! This ride is worth every penny, in fact, it is even worth the all-day Ride-a-rama! If you're in Erie, you MUST experience this...and don't forget to try a candy apple on the way out! :D
