Love this beach.  We went there a couple of days ago.  It's a good place to set your internal clock to "pause" when you're here.  The place is hardly really all that crowded, usually pretty calm waters if you wanna play in it, showers, bathrooms, ample parking, and beautiful.  If you like shade when you're at the beach like wifey does, this is the place.  If you like sun when you're at the beach, this is the place.

But sometimes it's got problems with jellyfish and I hear break-ins.  I like having picnics here, too.  It's also fun to watch the little sand crabs pop out and scamper across the sand when they think no one's watching them.  The coastal drive up to Waimanalo is really nice also.

The water here is so blue and the sky is always so clear.  This was a wonderful beach.  We stayed at a vacation rental  not too far away and came here often... it was never really crowded... the waves were always great and the scenic view was awesome.  We even ended up here to take some wedding portraits.  One of my favorite beaches I've been to.

I've been beach hopping around the island many times throughout my life and Waimanalo is one of the best spots to sleep on the beach or splash around in the water.

The water is normally calm enough that you don't have to worry about getting sucked out to sea (like with Sandy's) and just enough movement to be able to do some bodyboarding or skimboarding, if you're feeling adventurous.  Just make sure you pick the side of the beach that has smoother sand or you'll have scars on your arms and legs.

While my husband likes to try his luck at skimboarding, I prefer to read on the beach.  And the trees normally offer just enough shade to keep me cool, but not block my sun.  And it cuts down a lot of the breeze, so the sand isn't blowing in your face.  Not to mention they have ample parking, easy access to showers and bathrooms, and are close to McDonalds, Keneke's and a 7-11 so you're never at a loss for snack spots when you're done.

I would warn you to look out for jellyfish.  My husband once found himself swimming in a school of them and had huge, swollen lines across his stomach and back for days.  Other than the pain, there was no real harm done, but I've heard it can send a small child to the hospital - if they're especially sensitive to the sting, and if it's an exceptionally large jellyfish.  So, be on the lookout for floating blue bubbles with long tentacles.

Hands down, best beach I've been to.  Here's why:

1. Lacks the buttloads of people you find at more touristy beaches
2. The views are gorgeous
3. Beach is super clean
4. The sand is white and fine and doesn't have a lot of crap in it
5. Water is clear and beautiful

This is a fantastic beach to come to for any beachgoer, whether you're the type that wants to just chill in the sand or if you're into boogie boarding or body surfing.

Bad thing about it:  It's about 4000 miles away from my house and I'm left with crappy California beaches whenever I'm not visiting.

Regardless of what I say about Waimanalo Beach, this review doesn't do it justice, so you just have to go experience it for yourself.

One of my favorite beaches in Hawaii!! White sandy beach... great views, and far from tourists, so the beach is very clean and looks pristine.

Did Jenny A. say "village" on her review?  Come on, this is now a town...a small one at that.

Waimanlo, itself is home.  Roots run deep here.  On my last trip to Hawaii, went here with the family and just enjoyed the sun, the blue sky, the blue ocean...watching the haole tourist get knocked by the wave, hanging with family, watching the haole tourist yell at her boyfriend for not warning her...side note: never turn your back to the ocean...seeing locals just chilling, seeing the homeless people chilling by the bathrooms in the covered area.  Nalo, will always hold a special place for me.  It's a nice place during the day, no that's an understatement...it's a gorgeous place during the day.  7-11 is conveniently located next to the beach on the baseball field side...note about 7-11 they don't sell alcohol there... and you've got Kenekes right there too.

You have a great view of the bay, Rabbit Island, Blacktop Island, you can see for miles on a clear day.  Be careful of the waves, they can sometimes get a little rough.  Always be aware of where your kids are at all times when visiting this beach.

Enjoy the Ride!!!

This is one of my all-time favorite beaches on the island and I used to go here all the time especially when I wanted some peache and quiet. There's nothing much that I can add about this place; the photos just speak for themselves.  The water is VERY clean, the sand white and soft and it's never crowded. Just be careful of the jelly fish. Ouch!

I saw you in my dreams
We were walking hand in hand
On a white, sandy beach of Hawaii
We were playing in the sun
We were having so much fun
on a white, sandy beach of Hawaii

I would like to think this is where Israel Kamakawiwo Ole' was standing when he sang "White Sandy Beach of Hawaii"  for the first time.

I refuse to disrespect the beauty of this beach with my mere words and instead submit a few pictures of my favorite beach in the whole wide world.

Visit at least once and you will understand.

My entire family stayed in a house on this beach for a week, AMAZING!!
Friendly locals, families on vacation, a really spectacular place.  My parents renewed their vows on the beach.  We had a fantastic time. I think the best part is we were still on California time so we would get our Bad-Ass Kona coffee and walk to the beach to watch the sunrise.

I don't think I can add much to the other reviews.

It is beautiful and the water is great. I have spent a couple of afternoons on this beach staring out over the water, just grateful for the opportunity to do so.

It is a great stop after a hike and isn't very busy on the weekdays.

None of the praise here is overstated.  It is impossible to achieve hyerbole in regards to Waimanalo Beach.  Tip:  park on one of the side streets in the village and use the many access points.  On Weekdays this part of the beach is abandoned and on week-ends it's very, very quiet.

Great swimming, body surfing and sand castle building sand with a perfect view in every direction.  Those legendary Nalo winds keep this beach pleasant on the hottest July day.

My friend Nhu has been telling me to visit this beach for ages.  I finally went this weekend and now I see why Nhu loves it!

There is a pretty bay filled with blue blue water and a few islands. If you face away from the beach you will see a small stretch of woods (where you can picnic or even camp overnight)  followed by a stunning range of steep green hills.

We had a BBQ party in the woods and it was a wonderful time.  I will definitely be back to Waimanalo regularly!!

Good beach from what I saw from the sand! Man-of-war day due to the wind/recent rain, so no swimming for me. I moved on to the next beach, but I would definitely come back here since there are restrooms, it's a little secluded and it has two parking lots.

this is the spot!!! just look at the pictures, and you'll see why. one of the best reasons why i love, love, love this beach: not too many tourists! this is also why i was hesitant to hit the "post it" button. i don't wanna share this secret with everyone! haha

anyways, plan your whole day here. pack up the food, bbq, boogie boards, etc. the night before and head out here early. park in that small lot, and walk through the "woods" to heaven on earth!

my fam bam used to come here all the time, and i'm hoping that it's still the beauty it was back in the day. perfect sand for building sand castles. dig around, and you'll find copious amounts of sand crabs. my cousins and i used to take a bunch with us, and chuck them at other cars on our way home. we were nasty little devils.

nice waves, can get a bit crazy, i actually almost drowned here one time. it was one of those days, a bit cloudy and windy out. but me, the seester and my cousins didn't give a care in the world and we ran to water as soon as the cars were in park. about five minutes into it, we're all slowly getting pulled in, and i'm stuck with my cousin who doesn't know how to swim. everyone else seems to have made it to shore, but i'm gulping on some salt water, trying to hold my little cousin up. my uncle eventually realizes that we're in trouble, and comes to get us. this goes without saying, we didn't go back in the water that day. but it didn't stop us the day after that!!!

man, i can't stop fidgeting from excitement. i can't wait to be back here. i'm only in the area for a couple of days, but you can bet imma return to sd black as hell!!!
