This place is awesome! If you're tired of having Asian food over and over, then this is a great place for some Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern style food. How am I qualified to be able to judge this? I was married to a Turkish girl for 8 years and I've also had home-made Lebanese food many times cooked by a good friend's mom.

I've had the stuff on their dinner menu which was good but lately I've going there for the $9.95 lunch buffet. You can't beat it for middle eastern comfort food. Fresh fresh fresh! I love the hummus and tabbouleh. The fish in tahini sauce is yummy. The roast chicken and french fries are a great combo. The stuffed grape leaves are yummy. And the rice is perfectly cooked.

The service is friendly and responsive. The owner takes pride in his food and it shows. One of my favorite restaurants here in the SGV.

Final Decision: Really Just okay...not worthy of the overall rating...

So me and the crew want hankering for something new to eat and decided to check this place out.   After checking out the menu, we decided to go with the dinner buffet since may be more "bang for our buck".  Got here and got seated right away as the spot wasn't close to capacity, but was so after we left.

Decor: Really high ceilings with interesting unique artwork on the walls, some of a descending fountain and other scenery from nature.

Service: The waiters were cool, made sure our plates were removed when we were done and made sure we had plenty of beverage to drink.

Food: This was the make or break.  The curries were spiced very nicely.  The rice with meat was just okay.  The grape leaves and cabbage rolls were on par, there were some unique flavors, but nothing that really stuck out, almost on the bland side of things.  The rotisserie roasted chicken was a little dry. Probably the highlights were the hummus and the pita chips which were really nicely flavored.   Their Baklava-like dessert was not bad, not overly too sweet, but just felt like there was something missing.

Overall the meal was just okay.  So far, we've struck out quite a few times on our adventures to places around here for food.  Maybe next time we'll just try some of the food on the menu instead.

My bf and I stumbled upon this place, and we decided that it'd be fun trying some Middle Eastern food since we haven't really had much before.  The complimentary hummus and pita are so good!  Take some of it home and pop the pita bread into a toaster oven.  It makes it so crunchy and yummy!

For our appetizer, we got dolma, grapeleaves stuffed with ground lamb and rice.  The appetizer was so good, and the lamb wasn't overpowering.  I really loved the smoky, stewed tomato flavor in this dish.  The leaf was barely noticeable.  My bf didn't like it so much, but I loved it!

For our entree, we got the fish filet dish.  It came with a salad that had an amazingly vinegary/lemony dressing.  We kept dipping everything in it!  The entree also came with really fluffy and flavorful rice.  It was so good that we couldn't stop eating it.  The fish was seasoned perfectly, and it was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside.  Be careful of the roasted green pepper that they serve whole with this dish.  My bf was the guinea pig and learned it the hard way: the pepper is very VERY very spicy!

i had it as catering for my work and am looking forward to visit the actual place!

The hummus was great and wasn't too salty. It did not leave me feeling like I had sodium or garlic overload (thirsty AND bad breath? no thanks) like other places, and the amount of lemon juice & garlic was perfect. Pita bread tasted very fresh and soft, and the olives were great. The beef kebabs were also fantastic -- it's so easy to overcook kebabs and make them dry, but Wahib's were with a juicy center & crispy (but not charred) exterior.

My favorite is probably the fried rice/rice pilaf that came with the kebabs...it actually tastes like something! There are also bits of nuts and meat mixed with the rice, so they really made an effort to make every food item taste good, even if it's just a side dish.

I've been reading about their lunch buffets and will make a point to eat that sometime!

Wow! This place was a pleasant surprise. My bf was planning to meet me for lunch and we were craving Greek food and you yelpers led me here. I wasn't expecting much, just some tabbouleh and kabob plates. We walked in and there was a lunch buffet for only $9.95!  That is a steal! They have veggie and meat grape leaves which were delicious! Soup, pita chips, all the standard medi spreads, and so much more! Their green beans are so delicious, I had a plate for just that. Even though it's buffet style, everything is fresh and perfectly spiced. They know how to do mediterranean food right! And they had fresh fruit and baklava for dessert. No matter how much I ate I couldn't resist the grapes and baklava!
Very attentive service with pitchers of water and constant refills. They're awesome!

If you're Lebanese and you want to go someplace that reminds you of your mom's cooking, this is the place to go. Skip the kebabs (I mean, did your  mom ever cook kebabs at home?) and go for the daily specials. You won't find those at most Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurants around town. Mulukhiyeh? When was the last time you had that at a restaurant?

For sheer "high class" Lebanese cuisine, I generally go to Carousel in  Glendale, but Wahib's has all the comfort foods, a good selection of arak and beer, and the place is very comfortable, the service very good. What more can you want?

In case you don't know, they just started a daily buffet here, lunch and dinner.   If I remember right, weekday lunch buffet is $10, weekday dinner buffet is $15.  Weekends is $17.50 all day.

I have known of this place since my teen years, but never tried it until last weekend.  The buffet sign must of sealed the deal for me.  The buffet food was fresh, meat super tender and not dry.  I had the weekend dinner buffet, lots of different meat choices including lamb shank, beef roast, chicken, and other misc items.   I recommend a side of the garlic cream sauce (looks like mayo) at the salad section, damn good with meat.  I tried yogurt sauce on top of my rice as suggested in one of the other reviews, and it was really good.  Overall a great addition to the buffet selection in the san gabriel valley.

PS ,  individuals in your party may choose to have the buffet or order entrees from the menu,  COOL!

I like their 7.95 lunch/dinner deal. You a get a lot for that price. I got the chicken kabob plate. Comes with the rice & beans, grilled tomato and onions. pita and hummus comes in the beginning. hummus is so good! i asked the lentil soup vs the salad, they are exceptionally both good. Service is great there. I would recommend this place if you're up for  some middle eastern food

being here twice already for their lunch buffet
the price is like 9.95 with great selection of persian food everything you can think of except kabob,  I believe they include the kabob on the weekend buffet which then cost 14.95 per person.
anyhow with or without the kabob this place serve great food and their fruits ( grapes, melons) are so sweet and yummy.
yes i would recommend this place

Buffet for $10? I'm game!

So my boyfriend and I went here the other day..not knowing what to expect. The service was great (considering the fact that they give each table their own pitcher of water) but we were greeted and seated right away and they were very attentive.

Nonetheless, the food was DELICIOUS. Normally, everything at a buffet is dry and kind of crusty, but this place knows what's up! Their veggie curry was my favorite dish of the day..and their lamb, as I expected, was not good..gamey, very gamey. It's hard to find good lamb though.

Anyway, go go go! :)

I've been wanting to try this place for sometime now.  Tried the lunch buffet the other day.  It was okay.  The chicken was a little too dry as so was the pita bread.  Didn't like the grape leaves.  I wish they had falafels on the buffet :(  The curry was flavorful.  I love the fresh cucumbers :)  For the price, I would return.  The staff definitely were great.  Very attentive!  My husband loved this place!

I come here often whenever I want to get my middle eastern food fix. Shawarma are a sure staple whenever you don't know what to order. Their servings here are HUGE! And service staff is friendly and attentive.

There is a buffet that I have never tried before, but everyone seems to like it.

Hookah available outside in the patio.

Yum.

My favorite restaurant in the greater LA area. I'm so sad I live 4 hours away now.

I haven't been there in over 2 years, and before I moved back to the US with hubby, I promised to take him there, but boohoo they don't have a live band (mohamed saleem's band) on the weekends anymore!!

Weekend dinners there were the best ever! for less than $40/person, you'd get a gynormous meal that just kept coming and coming and coming, and since you were already full by the first round of appetizers, what would you do to keep eating? dance it off on their huge dance floor!

Great family atmosphere, great service, great band, world famous bellydancers, and to-die-for food. why would I ever go anywhere else?!

Gotta downgrade a star. I think I was in a hummus-induced daze when I wrote the last review. I went back to Wahib's a few days later and quickly realized the food was not as fresh as I first thought, and it wasn't as tasty as I first thought either. Overall, still great prices for average food with good service.

I love this place!

The food is very good and well priced.  The staff are friendly and attentive.

They have a banquet hall.  I've held a function there and it was a great hit.  We ordered a lamb platter and our guests thought it was great.  The Wahib's staff were helpful as always.

Definitely recommend this place.

I have been wanting to try Wahib's, and last week a group of my wonderful students took me! I teach belly dance, so they wanted to take me to a belly dance dinner and show. It was fantastic.

So the place seems to be divided into 3 sections: The front dining room, the back patio, and the banquet hall. We had reservations but were waiting for the banquet hall -which I didn't understand. The dining room had lots of open tables. I asked the lady in front (I assume she's one of the owners, because she was wonderful) if there was a bar where we could wait (I had a backache, and needed a martini, ok?) She brought me a big fat martini to sip on while we waited.

It turns out that if you want to see the show, you have to sit in the banquet hall -but we didn't know that. It felt like we were crashing a wedding -especially when all of this delicious food started coming out before we had ordered anything. Pickled vegetables, peppers and olives, Tabbouleh, humus, pitas, salad, tzatziki, different felafel's, at the end, some skewers of meat came out on a huge plate of rice with broiled tomatoes, but by then, I was so stuffed, it was all I could do to taste each one. There was chicken, and 2 red meats I couldn't quite identify. I think a lamb and a lulu. They were tasty, spicy and tender.  Belch, oh god, no more please. :-O

Amongst this food orgie the belly dancers came out. There was 3 of them, and they put on a flashy show -about an hour, and they were pretty great. Jillina's dancers. She seems to run the racket on belly dance shows around here. I recommend seeing them at least once.

After the show, the Lebanese people got up and did some debke steps around the floor, and there was one older woman doing belly dance movements who was more fun to watch than the professionals.

The bill came to about $200 for 4 people. We each had a cocktail, saw a show, gorged ourselves and finished off with coffee and baklava, all served up by our waiter who was such a cutie and very accommodating. Pretty good deal in my opinion.

If you have guests in town, Wahib's would be a great place to entertain them.
If you do decide to go with the banquet and show, plan on making an evening of it. We were there for three hours!

This is a half restaurant and a half hookah lounge. The front is mainly for people who just wants to eat and their patio is for people who doesn't mind second hand smoke and smoking hookah. I ordered the weirdest appetizer but their pita breads were pretty good...if you're hungry. It was a busy Friday night so the place was pretty packed, therefore, the waiters weren't as attentive to us nor did they add more coals when ours were going bad. The price is reasonable and a great hangout place for groups.

I don't recommend coming here on weekend nights.

I remember coming here so many years ago in High School when were too young to even smoke hookah. After we were 18 they still wouldn't let us stay in the back!

But really though, Wahib's has such good food, with large portions, at a good price. Lunch specials are winners, as so many others have mentioned. They are very accommodating for groups too.

Great food, good prices.  If you like middle eastern food, you'll love this.  I have enjoyed every dish I have ordered.  I usually eat vegetarian, but have liked the chicken the few times I ordered it.   Sometimes at lunch the service is slow because they are busy.

They have easy parking and great deserts.

I love this place!

It's not a particularly attractive restaurant; I prefer to eat in the patio as the pink murals of the interior distract and dismay me, but the food is fantastic, always.  I always order small plates to share - falafel (the best I've had anywhere), dolma with lamb, baba ganoush, kubbe (amazing), hummus and one of the salads.  I've brought people to Wahib's from all over the country and everyone to date has raved.  It's certainly one of the few culinary gems in little old Alhambra and the staff is consistently steady and pleasant.  As if this weren't enough, the prices are very, very reasonable.

Boy ooh Boy..meee is so lucky to have so many good friends.  I'm really not cheap, but my friends treated me to Wahib's.  I've never tried their buffet, but it looked so good and tempting. (see daa photos)
Let's see...get my normal two skewers etc...etc...or should I take the challenge and  get  the buffet?
Yeppers everyone talked me into the buffet and then I packed my plate with hummus, chicken, beef, lamb shank, rice like a big piggie.
I sat it down and went and used the bathroom and washed up.   When I came back, those so-called friends had munched most of it all down. They thought that I was going to share it with everyone!
Come on guys!  WHY ME?
I went up a second time (starving of course) and picked up more food and came back with a very  watchful eagle eye over my plate.
I went up again and  I even got some chicken with this very unusual tasty sauce on it........that tasted fantastic and smelled great.
So, I took the chicken sauce only (that was green with spices) and poured it on my roast beef.  Geeez, I thought that sauce had a familiar taste to it....and it brought back some very old great memories of when my grandma made home made roast beef and that's the flavorable sauce she put on it.....uuuummm...so...good.....so....good.
Finally, I saw a oicture of the original Wahib's and took a picture of the picture and posted the photos for you to see.  Kinda dumb...but whatever....
Hard to believe I've been coming here so many years...and you can't beat the price for the quanity and quality that you get..  Again, how will I ever start my diet....no wonder why I'm gaining the weight...
Gotta go....munch.....munch.....munch.....munch.....burp ...........some coffee please......

I really enjoyed the variety in the menu. We started with the traditional hummus, pita, and pickled vegetables and olives.  There were plenty of vegetarian options for the veg heads out there.  They sounded so good, I decided to try one. I can say the fried cauli flower and eggplant was delish!  My friend ordered the Broiled chicken special. Tender and the skin was nice and crispy and spicy like those mediterranean rotisserie chickens. It was just missing the skordalia/garlic paste. A nice bottle of merlot rounded this all out nicely.

To end the meal, I decided to try some beloved baklava. I am sorry to say, that this was not a great ending. It was terribly dry and crumbly and stale. I was surprise when everything else was so good. But I won't hold it against them.

Despite the echo-y, not very cozy atmosphere, and dry baklava, the food and service was great and I wouldn't mind going back to try another dinner and the buffet brunch!

Went with a group of 4, this was my second time here. The roast lamb was tasteless to me but another person liked it,

I hated the chicken, Loved the steak, Lamb skewers were good,  Did not care for the kaftka,

BUT one in my group Loved the Kafka, (isn't he an existential writer?)   And Loved the Chicken on the skewers.  I could not eat it.

Falafel was OK,  But I am no falafel fan,

Pita was cold and dry, I get better stuff at Trader Joes.

So I would eat here again, but only get the steak or lamb skewers and not the lamb roast or chicken.

And for these prices, not a cheap place, get some decent Pita.

If you are not a fan of smoke, don't come in the back door at night, as they have their hookahs burning back there.  I don't care for it, if it isn't hashesh it isn't worth smoking....  I don't use drugs.  But tobacco is a waste of your life...

Didn't care for the atmosphere nor the service. Very mediocre, I actually wanted to get up and leave but forced myself to just stay and give the food a chance. I like the smoked tomato that came with my dish: Beef Skewer with rice, beans and a salad.
The smoked grill flavor on the skewer was good but the seasoning was quite bland. We asked for the garlic sauce dip and that helped with flavoring.

Final thought: First time we've been here since living in the area for over 15yrs and it'll be the last.

Here's a neat little Arabic restaurant smack in the middle of Chinatown USA!

The surroundings are appealing and the staff are always polite and attentive.

Come here for their cold mezes--the hummus, tabbouleh, and baba ghanouj are fantastic! And of course, my favorite, kibbe nayyeh (to satisfy that primal urge to tear into raw muscle) is always supremely fresh and impeccably seasoned.

I haven't tried their desserts, but they have that delectable almond pudding--muhalabiyyeh--as well as a comprehensive pastry selection (baklawa, w'arbat, kitaifeh, etc., etc.)

My only gripe is that the special platter I tried (spicy lamb) certainly was special all right. Specially bad. So I've docked them a star.

That doesn't leave any reason, however, to write the place off, because, all other things in perspective, they're positively wonderful. And they're one of the few true Arabic restaurants in the SGV!

I've only eaten during lunch time here. And both times, I came for the hookah, not so much the food. But the food has always pleased me. I always get the lamb sandwich which is about $6, and they give you some good flat bread with hummus dip.

It's the only place that offers Hookah in Alhambra, so I can't really complain. Be aware that they only offer 1 or 2 flavors though (Double Apple, and Mint). Also, service can get a little slow. There's a good spot to sit outside in the back to relax (smoking is allowed here) or you can sit inside. Great spot to have in Alhambra since we don't offer a lot of Middle Eastern food.

The best middle eastern food in the SGV,  Wahib's is consistently good.  The service is friendly and accommodating, but like many middle eastern places, the mindset is not focused on speedy service.  Grab an outside table, order a hookah, enjoy the hummus, and you won't mind waiting a bit for your food.  The frog legs are excellent, the kibbeh is just right, and the lamb is always good.  My buddy made the mistake of ordering beef at a Lebanese place, and it was overcooked and a bit dry.  If you want red meat, get the lamb. It's worlds better.

They serve a great Lebanese pilsner called Almaza that seems to pair fantastically with everything.  If you like anise-based liquors, ask for some Arak.  If you're not familiar with it, it's a strongly anise tasting drink that louches when you mix it with water.  Mix it half and half and it's a really refreshing sipper in between courses.  Drink enough and your mouth goes numb right before the buzz hits you.

Wahib's is not a hookah bar.  The emphasis is on the food, the clientele is not the sideways hat crowd, and there's better places if you just want to smoke.

Consistently great food, decent atmosphere, reasonable pricing and a nice break from the surrounding Asian places.  Recommended.

Hookah AND Mediterranean food? YES!

I don't come here as often anymore as it's a little bit farther out of the way now.

It's a nice little spot to go have a hookah session with friends and some flavorful, but light grub.

They have a nice patio area that's tucked away in the back where you can sit outside but also stay out of the elements (there's an overhead cover and screened in walls surrounded by plants). It's nice during colder nights when you want to dine/smoke outside and they bust out the portable propane heaters. They also have Christmas-style rope lights wrapped around the entire patio area. Nice touch.

I'd recommend parking around the back and entering the restaurant through the patio seating area. In the actual restaurant inside is very gaudy looking so I prefer to sit outside.

The food here is pretty good with good portions all for a decent price. I don't think I've ever been here where I didn't have to take my food to go because I couldn't finish it on the spot. The garlic sauce with the plate is killer.

When I joined yelp I had Wahib's on my mind. I've always told people that it is the most authentic Lebanese cuisine outside of Lebanon that you can find. The hummos, the tabouleh, the shish kebob, the mezzes, and my favorite - frog legs. I wish I lived closer so I could come more often but I still try my best to frequent it. Even for special events, like Christmas or new years, they know how to put on a show with musicians and belly dancers. If you know what it feels like, feeling like you're in Lebanon is a great state of mind. And Wahib's delivers.

IMPORTANT! Look at the picture "menu" out front before you get in!

Their menu is not entirely English, the usual words like beef, chicken pork, lamb and Kabab (I thought it was kabob), I have no idea what kasjdglkj (just random letters) is so we asked the waiter, he said "ummmm it's sliced tomato, no no no, it's cut tomato with ummmmm, hold on" he runs off to the kitchen, comes back and says "yes, cut tomato with kasjdglkj" WHAT?!?!?!?!?

Service was good in that we got everything we asked for, and they were very nice, but I had no idea what other stuff was on the menu. we got the Chicken Kabab, Beef  Kabab, and a Ground Beef Kabab (I forgot what it's called but it doesn't actually say ground beef on the menu, it's another one of those 'jkwifht" things)

I loved their hummus and Pita bread, we actually asked to get a refill to go and they were more than happy to oblige.

The food was AWESOME!!!!!!! When I ordered, I thought they were somewhat pricey, but I can see why, the portions were huge. you have to try the Beef Kabab, it was sooooooo tender, a little pink in the middle, cooked just right. The ground beef kabab was a little under cooked, but the flavor was great.

We made a mistake and ordered an "Appetizer" which was rice pilaf with ground beef.....DON'T GET THIS unless you are getting a plate with no rice because all the Kabab plates we got came with the rice pilaf, so we had way too much rice (would've been great it they told us that!), no biggy we now have great full portions for lunch!

After passing by this place in the past 15 years, this is the first time I've tried it, I wish I can get 15 years back. I'll definitely be back for more, I'll try to remember to take pictures with a real camera. (there was a girl there, she was taking a few pictures too....wonder if she's on Yelp....wonder if I'm in those pictures!)

2.10.08: This place is Hmmm Hmmm Goood. I haven't ate at this restuarant for about 4 years or so. I didn't really know what kind of food to expect except for kabobs.

We ordered a combo of things and it was great. Since it was a sunday we could have chosen the buffet, but we didn't because there was no kabobs on the menu. Either way the pricing came out to be the same. The portions are huge and delicious.

A great place to try new things.

O four stars cause the service was crap! ha ha.

Hookah time!  The food is good most of the time, last time the lamb was pretty dry.  Other times it's been fine so I'll chalk it up as a fluke.  Go with a few friends and share some dishes to get the full effect.  Or if you have a larger group you can have more room out back in the patio and hit the hookah.

It's not some lounge in west LA but it's a nice place to get some good food and chill out.  Plus they have a pretty good selection of baklavah up front.  It's worth checking out.

When I initially walked into Wahibs, I was very impressed.  The inside had a unique feel to it and the staff was very inviting.  The menu was dead on-- large selection and very low prices.  You can get away with a dinner combination for $7.99!

BUT the big problem was that the food just wasn't tasty.  I've been to a handful of of the "kabob" restaurants and the chicken and lamb here just didn't cut it.  The rice wasn't memorable.  And the bread wasn't, well, passable.

I'll re-comment when I visit 10+ "kabob" restaurants.  At least they currently have GREAT service!

Wahibs reminds me of my childhood..

It doesn't get any better than this (In my opinion)..

I love their Okra stew w/ a side of rice and means

Their Sharwarma is amazing! gosh my mouth is watering as I type.

Lately we've been going for their buffet b/c its so reasonable and so much variety (lunch till 4pm) Early dinner!.. Pitas, lentil soup w/ a squeeze of lemon, hummus, flafel, grape leaves, baklava, fruit, assorted main dishes: fish w/ tahini, grilled chicken, stewed potatoes, curry veggies, tabulli, green salad and much more.. I am NEVER disappointed. BEST MIDDLE EASTERN IN THE SGV!!

PS: sorry for any errors on the names of the dishes :)

Been here twice and loved it both times. I always get the combo, which is a good deal for your money. Portions are pretty hearty, and food is flavorful. They also bring a lot of side dishes like picked (fill in the blank) and hummus/tortillas. I'd totally recommend and go back myself. I know there is also hookah in the back but I've never been.

Only complaint would be parking. I'd recommend street and not the small lot in the back (because my car got stuck there since someone parked behind me).

I lived in Jordan for 10 years and have been craving good Arabic food for years here in the U.S. until I came upon this diamond in the rough.  The place serves Lebanese food but it is just as good.

Huge portions!
Great parking!
Sunday brunch is $15.  Very much worth it.

My favorite is the Jordan Mansef (served only on Wednesdays).

*Great Meditterenean Food! Reasonably priced and Free Pitas and Hummus! Located a few blocks east of Garfield Ave along Main St right after a CVS Pharmacy.*

-Good for family and friends
-Nice and neat
-Awesome Shawarma
-Back patio (Hookah lounge)
-Friendly Service
-Some alcoholic beverage is available

I haven't tried much but I'm pretty sure it'll be a pleasant experience again next time. Finally, something different around this area. Highly recommended!
