Love the food. The style is very similar to Musha in Torrance but smaller in size. I've been here more than 4 times already and is one of my favorite places for dinner. The portions are Japanese style (small) and not that expensive so you can order multiple dishes and still be on budget.
They just got their liquor license so it is harder to get a seat especially on Friday nights.
What's funny is that the restaurant is located next to Nijiya Supermarket, and sometimes you see the waitress go to the supermarket and buy groceries and tofu.

Since my last review, my boyfriend and I continue to visit every week!! It gets better and better. As a matter of fact, my boyfriend, two other friends, and I just visited last night!! We had a blast! Cracking jokes w/everyone in the restaurant while enjoying really good food. Good company and good food!! Since we've introduced this restaurant to our friends, they too "love this place!"
Alcohol update: They currently have a couple beers on draft and soju. And I believe today, they will begin selling Sake!

Okan is the best Japanese restaurant i' ve visited in SD.
They have great interior which is Japanese traditional style and food is very nice!!
The chicken rice bowl is great, in terms of the balance among the taste, the volume, and the price. Also, I like their modest service and the neatness.
