Compassionate, brilliant, thoughtful, patient-centric practice with a phenomenal team. We have been at Children's Healthcare Associates for almost 12 years and are so appreciative and grateful to our incredible medical team for their excellent service. We love our regular physician, and have had wonderful experiences with all the other physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses we have had to visit in urgent situations if ours was not available. They are always patient-centric, taking the time to empower children to be self-advocates, and to empower their parents and caregivers to be advocates for and partners in the well being of their children. They are extremely knowledgable, accessible, thoughtful and helpful. Our experiences with the appointment making / billing staff has also been exceptional. Thorough, friendly, and supportive at all times. Cannot speak highly enough about the entire practice.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 11, 2021Previous reviewChildren's Healthcare Associates came highly recommended to us by pediatrician specialist friends who took their kids there in 2012 and we've recommended them to everyone we know ever since. Every doctor and nurse practitioner we have seen at this practice has always gone above and beyond to empathically listen to our concerns, educate us as parents on how to proactively and responsively manage our kids' health at home -- wellness and sickness alike. From newborn to big kids, they've consistently been there for us through emergencies, urgent care, and the everyday. Like everything from performing swift interventions in critical care moments to advice for continuing healthcare competently on our own. The office staff is so friendly, well-organized, exceedingly competent, and always on top of it and we have never had a single issue with insurance, billing, scheduling, etc. The nurses and assistants are so highly skilled at the tough stuff like vaccines and challenging tests it blows me away every time. We feel so incredibly grateful to be a part of this practice community.

We do not feel very cared for at this office.
We are having ongoing issues with our son's prescription, and we found out from a different location, that we have not been told information that would have made our lives a lot easier.
Our son has a monthly prescription, and we have been frantically calling around on the day that his prescription expires, because we were told that they couldn't do anything to refill the prescription until 30 days were up each month, so we are always calling ON THE DAY the prescription expires, and it causes a lot of running around and uncertainty.
We just found out, after a year of going here, that we could have been calling up to a week before hand, to pre-order the prescription filing if the dr just made sure to set the effective date to the correct fill date. We were also told the dr could send 3 prescriptions, since they are good for 90 days, and we wouldn't have to call the drs office every month, only every 3. Why were we not told ANY of this? Why were we forced to go through a panic every month if it could have been avoided?
So, this month, we are again calling in trying to get a prescription filled, ON the day we run out, because we were not told the above, and of course there is not a dr in the office who can fill our prescription, so now we are out of my sons prescription, which greatly affects him, and will be out for at least the entire weekend.
The nurses we spoke to on the phone were not only unhelpful, but seemed like they actively had no interest in helping us. What if the prescription was a life dependent prescription, then what? Are you literally saying there is no way to fill a prescription on the weekends? We offered to drive to them pick up a physical prescription, or asked if there was ANY other thing we could do, and of course were met with flat "No"'s.
I left it at two stars because we do like our Dr, Dr Sterrett, but all of the other failings around every other part of this Pediatricians office, has been so under our expectations, and the lack of interest in actually supporting their patients, has reached a breaking point, and I think this is our last straw, we will be looking elsewhere for a new pediatrician.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Judy F.Evanston, IL01Jan 18, 2024
My son has been a patient there for 3 yrs and I can't say anything bad about this clinic. everyone is always so nice and helpful. Today my son had an appointment as we're Walking down the hallway I saw that everyone was smiling, everyone was very nice and felt very welcoming making easy for my son to be there.

We believe we got our last bill from Lauri's for the unnecessary genetic screen follow up. In total, the whole situation cost us around $800. The medical bills related to them missing the lip tie, tongue tie, and further complications is in the thousands. The response of CHA response to my feedback (to check with their billing department, which truly has nothing to do with our bills for the specialist at Lauri's) reinforces that no one at this practice, even the non-clinical professionals, are actually doing their diligence. Grateful we found a better practice.

I invite you to contact our billing manager. I'm sure that she will help in any way she can.
Nov 28, 2022Previous reviewStill getting bills for unnecessary blood work done at Laurie's over a year later! And absolutely no response from CHA about their response to our situation.
Jul 12, 2021Previous reviewWe have been with Children's Healthcare Associates for 3 years. With my older daughter, who is pretty low maintenance, CHA was great. I really liked the NPs and Dr. Sterrett, though it was almost impossible to get an appointment with her. Things took a turn for the worst when my younger daughter was born. The first week we were having issues with weight gain and jaundice so they made us come in 4 days in a row and saw 3 different providers (with 2 trips to Laurie's for bilirubin blood draws). They pushed formula and tried to scare me into supplementing. Once baby got back to birth weight, they said I could wait until the 2 month visit to come back. If not for our lactation consultant, our baby would have been labeled failure to thrive because she stopped gaining weight. Around that time I developed a clogged duct and we discovered that baby had a moderate lip tie and tongue tie which was impacting her ability to transfer milk. On top of this, baby had a rare genetic blood trait (which actually has no impact on baby's life at all), they told us we had to go to genetic counseling and are now paying hundreds of dollars to find out that baby is fine. In retrospect, I could have just googled the condition and known to avoid it, I shouldn't have assumed they would bother to see if this condition was something we needed to be aware of. This practices lack of diligence had a negative impact on my daughter and myself (5 day hospital stay from Mastitis) and my family. I provided them with a letter explaining how their lack of diligence was problematic and how lip and tongue ties should be a part of their protocol then found a new provider. Its been over 2 months and have received no response of any kind to my letter. That pretty much says it all.
TL;DR- these medical professionals are not diligent and do not communicate well with one another - M G.Chicago, IL010Jan 11, 2023
Terrible group. They recently added a $25 per child "administrative fee" on top of any copay, because the obscene prices of healthcare apparently aren't enough.
On top of that, my son is currently sick with the flu. I tried to call to get his pediatrician's advice and ask whether he should come in and get checked out. Despite their hours claiming the office is open until 8pm, I got an after hours answering service that informed me I would be charged a $25 fee just to ask a question.
Taking advantage of parents with sick kids by dropping an irritating fee on them is just obnoxious. I've had to call pediatricians and other doctors after hours numerous times, and I've never once been charged for it.
For a *great* doctor who I absolutely trusted, I'd be annoyed but could tolerate the dumb fees. But for a mediocre doctor like this one, no way. I'll be finding a new pediatrician for my kids.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - MariaL G.Chicago, IL02Jun 8, 2023
I have been bringing my both of my children here for a little over 3-4 years. We absolutely love all the doctors and NP's here! The times I've had to call and speak with the nurses, they are very knowledgeable, and super kind! The docs and NP's are very kind, caring and their bedside manners are impeccable. The entire staff is great. A big plus is also the times I've called when my kiddos are sick, they have been very accommodating to get us in the same day for a sick appointment. I highly recommend this pediatrician office to anyone looking for a brand-new pediatrician or to transfer here. It's also a plus that when we call for appointments, I speak with someone in the actual office and not a call center! Big thumbs up for Children's Healthcare!

We have been taking our children to CHA for the last 11 years. It's a wonderful place. Our pediatrician is Dr. Jonathan Necheles. He's fantastic -- a calming, reassuring, no-nonsense presence when you're worried about the most precious little humans in your life.

Very responsive administrator.
Easy to get appointments.
Good location.
I've been coming to them since my youngest was born and wish I'd transferred to them sooner with my older child.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erin F.Chicago, IL04Jul 17, 2022
Would not recommend for LGBTQ families. We were calling around to find a pediatrician for our newborn son. My wife called to ask a few questions about the practice including whether they were LGBTQ-friendly and the woman said "Yes, we don't discriminate if that's how you choose to live." Very inappropriate response.

This has never been the position of Children's Healthcare! We value all our families and have considerable experience with all types of family dynamics. As we record all our phone calls, rest assured that the staff member is no longer with our company.
