259 reviews for W San Francisco
We enjoyed our stay. Every time the wifey and I got into the elevator, we felt as if we were in a night club. The lounge music is a nice touch. The entire staff, are very friendly, laid back but 100 % professional.
I felt like I could live there to be honest! Unfortunately, since I have my beautiful family which includes my one years twins the place isn't that kid friendly. Just to many sharp edges and little things for them to put into there mouths. They liked the music in the elevators though.
I'll be back with wife on a over night through for surely.
Just came back form a week long conference at the Moscone centre, and I thought this would have been a good opportunity to try out this W hotel.
This experience was so full of disappointments that I am actually afraid that I will forget a few of them in this review.
First of all, the room that I got was a "corner" room in the 29th floor, was NOT a corner room since the one full face of the room was blocked by a diagonal wall separating it from my neighbor in the other "corner room". I believe that this substantially detracts from the corner room concept.
Once I got over that, I set up my computer at the micro desk, which was leaning against this diagonal sun blocking wall, just to find out that there is actually NO LAMP at the desk. Apparently the desk lamp was replaced by a cheesy purple buda doll that managed to be both, offensive for anyone who may admire Buda, and useless for the purpose of using the desk.
Aside from the micro light less desk, the tiny room that i used was sadly crippled by one of the worst distributions I have ever seen. For instance, I had an actual L shaped extra wide hallway inside my room which made room for my closet facing my door robbing me of the space that could have been used to be able to walk around the bed. on both sides without stumbling into the tv.
On to the TV. This room was equipped with one of those new digital flat screens all to be wasted away with an archaic analog programming. Of course, the image quality was awful I would have expected from a hotel at this price range to at least be able to provide with good HD entertainment but not here.
Further more, on the first morning I went to the XYZ restaurant for some breakfast, only to stumble upon the slowest one that I have seen in the bay area. I ordered my fried eggs eager for a quick breakfast and had a cup of coffee. As i waited patiently, I finished my cup of coffee and could not get my cup refilled by any of the many waiters, they would just say "I'll be right back, buddy". I waited for what seemed for ever (turns out to be only 50 minutes) and finally got my breakfast served. It turned out to be pretty ordinary so I finished it up in the 5 minutes that I had left before my conferences started and as I was signing the check all I got from the waiter was an "I'm sorry buddy, took a while ehh?"
I have got to admit, I was reluctant to write a review such as this one because it makes me feel so old, but I got over to do it just out of a desire to help my fellow travelers stay clear of these trap hotels.
I'm not going to say this is the best hotel I've ever stayed, but I like it enough where I would come back and stay at this hotel again.
This hotel is definitely on the trendy and hip. The lobby is furnished w/ trendy sofa and chairs along with some clubbing music-ish going on. Definitely not your typical classy hotel w/ the instrumental music playing in the background.
From the time you stepped into the elevator till you get off on your floor, you can see that the decor of this hotel is oriental influenced. You got the 3-D sakura tree inside the elevator - very trippy. Then as you walk out, you see these lantern art picture posted on the wall. And once you're in the room, there's a little small buddha that changes color to help meditate and keep your emotion calm and at peace.
What I like about this room is how they have a cushioned window seat where you can sit and relax and enjoy the view.
And the bed.. O.M.G. SUPER comfortable!!
I also like their bath set products from bliss - the lemon & sage scent sure made it soothing
oh and like all hotels they have their beverage / snack bar where you can purchase...but here they have an intimacy kit...thought that was interesting.
I also like that they give complimentary coffee at the cafe. So that was neat. Oh and complimentary water by the front desk.
This hotel is clean. The service is great. The location is perfect for those who are in for business trip.
I'm not sure how much the room is for a night since i didn't pay for my stay... but I'm sure that it is NOT cheap due to the location and the name of the hotel.
Best hotel in the city! Get a corner room. They have the best city views. I love the Japanese oceanic design theme they have in their rooms. I also feel secure when I stay here because you can not enter the elevators with out your room key. The XYZ bar downstairs is also very nice. I like their cucumber martini's.
Free dancing! After coming from Temple Nightclub where the cover was a ridiculous $20, we were all too happy to get our dance on at the W.
Good music and a cozy atmosphere. The second and third floors are just waiting to be explored as you can park your seat in a Men In Black style half eggshell looking chair (forgive my not knowing what exactly to call it).
$16 drinks...to be expected, so come prepared with a stash or some cash.
The W Hotel is the newer, younger, hip, higher end brand of the Starwood properties (Sheraton, Westin, St Regis, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft, Luxury Collection, Elements).
Basically, the design theme of all W hotels is urban male bachelor pad chic. Italian modern, neutral colors, leather and textures but clean design lines. Mix this at this W with a strong desire to seem both Euro and Asian in appeal and sensibility. For instance, non of the staff calls the elevators by that name, they all call them the "Lifts".
The scale of this hotel is small. Starwood tried to cram as much as they could into a small stamp of real estate across the street from the Moscone Convention Center, next to the SFMOMA, and across from the Metreon in SOMA. It is 31 floors, but the lobby is tiny, the valet parking is smaller than a Chinatown ally, and the rooms would make 5 year old twins a little claustrophobic.
The rooms are smartly appointed, but they are smaller than many hotels in Tokyo I have been in. There is a sliding glass door to the bathroom (should we call it the Lew?). The desk is a long narrow built in, with cut-out for Tschohkies of Asian dolls and lighted Buddhas, mixed with a Danish modern IKEA shelving.
There is a cushioned window seat to take advantage of the view, with a Chinese Checker magnetic set ready for your enjoyment. In a pinch, it could sleep a drunk friend who doesn't roll over.
The hotel has a Whatever, Whenever service concept (its called the operator in other hotels), and has their Acura Program, which is two Acura MDX cars to take guests anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel, for free. That covers most of the places you want to go in the city, but with 31 floors of guests, how available is this?
They do have a small indoor lap pool, jacuzzi, and a well equipped Gym with the latest machines.
On weekends, the Lobby turns into a disco, with the spill over of the second floor XYZ bar reverberating into the small lobby, and packs of foreign looking 40ish bald men and other douche bags and packs of 20-30ish ladies in short, "suit chaser" skirts roaming the lobby and XYZ, looking to hook up. The classic attraction between older, trying to pass off as weathler men looking for female flesh they can talk to intelligently in the morning, and young, trying too hard hotties looking for a cute sugar daddy. In both cases, needles in the haystack.
At $285 a night, and $45 a night valet parking (plus 14% tax) that takes 10 -15 minutes for retrieval, this place is not my first choice for my out of town friends to stay in the City.
So yeah, the W still rules...just got back.
Ah the dim cool neon glow and ambient sounds of some laid back beats...and this is while waiting for the elevator.
Pretty good Margherita pizza from the house restaurant room service...nice crispy crusts, not too much cheese and fresh basil. $70 for 2 of those and 3 Bud Lights...but we were drunk so it didn't matter.
Get your $5's ready though, cuz like I said before, those tips will flow like water under the Golden Gate.
Could I stay at a quaint little boutique hotel off of Powell for half of what I pay here? Sure. But they don't have a DJ in THEIR lobby, so F them...I'm staying here.

I just back from The City and of course I stayed at my favorite place again...The W.
In addition to… Read more »
Stopped in to have a Friday evening cocktail at the bar at the W. In summary, food and drinks were great. Service sucked.
I had a mojito; my girlfriend had a dirty martini. We ordered the ahi tuna and asiago and corn pizza. Drinks were nicely done and the foot was great.
Bartenders were busy talking with themselves and never really paid too much attention to us, which is the sole reason this place gets just 3 stars.
Oh... Kudos to the one lone waitress, who not only kept up with the entire room, but also had some strikingly hot pants on that hugged her ass like no other. Fourth star just for her.
I've been to 2 other W Hotels and this one was pretty bad compared to the other ones. Our first room was horrible bc it was right next to the elevators, it was so loud I couldn't sleep. The next day I switched rooms and it was much better and slightly roomier.
*Rooms were small
*Service was mediocre
One of my favorite bars in the city. Never stayed at the hotel. Nice low key atmosphere. Very comfortable. Last time I went, couples were on the walls one step away from intercourse. I guess it was 'screw a chick on the wall night'.
Customer service is spot on. We were checked in promptly and by a friendly gal.
The rooms are awesome. Our view was of the mission, and it was gogeous!
Beds had nice soft sheets, the kind you want to sink into after a nice hot shower. Cool, hip and stylish decorations. Anyone can come stay here and feel lucky.. just that "Aahhh.." feeling, reief or pure satisfaction.
The bar downstairs is equally as hip. Nice bartenders. Good drinks, all the usual suspects: whiskey, scotch, gin... expensive drinks though but then again, you are at the W.
this place made me feel like I was in a movie. Very modern and sophisticated, cool ambiance.. Its nice to feel like an adult once in a while, its also nice having friends that work for starwood :) ha!
Stayed here for a weekend for a business trip. Can't speak about all the amenities, since I didn't have time to enjoy them all, but what I can say is...
What I Liked:
A-MAZ-ING bed - so soft and lush that I sunk in and didn't open an eye until my wake up call
Food - in particular, the W burger with mozz, heirloom tomatoes and bacon was delicious
Decor - clean, modern, trendy
Bliss products - nice touch
What I Didn't Like:
It took FOREVER for my room to be ready, and I kept having to follow up with them to get it done
The servers at the bar tended to take away empty glasses without offering a replacement - kind of annoying
Would go back though, and hit up the Bliss spa next time!
My new favorite hotel thus far. Awesome experience all around.
No missteps at all during my last trip, it was just excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it - it's worth the extra money especially if you factor in the free town car taxi and wifi.
don't lay down on the bed thinking you will do some work before bed 0 it ain't happenin'. I was out like a light as soon as my ass sink into that billowy comforter.
lots of young classy people keep the environment fresh and energetic. Last month, Beyonce's crew was staying here before their event and there was lots of eye candy abound. no chocolate for me though, my teeth are all rotted out (metaphorically speaking).
Pros:
Free wifi in living room/lobby
Fresh fruit in the mornings at the front desk (apples)
dinner and snack grab in the evenings
Free town car service in an acura luxury car (tip the man please)
At night the bar turns very clubby and lots of sexy drunk professionals hang out here
quiet neighborhood
huge rooms
stiff drinks
Cons:
not many restaurants in the immediate area
the best times for the town car are reserved early and the car doesn't stay out late (stops at 7:30) due to an agreement with the cabbies and budget constraints with the hotel (rough times USA)
charges for everything
this hotel is nice. customer service was on point and SUPER friendly --- very, very accommodating and never once questioned or gave me negative tones because i know i asked for a lot. Valet people were awesome, too.
we reserved the fabulous corner room (?) and it was cute. girly, but cute and CLEAN! i didn't understand the mirrors and the $8.00 fiji bottled water, though but the view was awesome! and the BED, oh the BED! super comfy and once you lay down, you don't want to get up. falling asleep is always so difficult for me but i seriously just fell asleep super quick after laying down. ahh i miss it! it also smells so good in the room. i wonder what they use?
they also have a cute seating area, a desk and hella outlets! this hotel is super modern & i wouldn't mind staying again.
I left two bags in the trunk of my car when checking it in with the valet for an overnight stay - my work bag and my gym bag. the next day, I picked up my car and went to the gym, and that's when I noticed both bags were gone.
I went back to the W to tell them what happened and to ask them if they had any bags that were turned in as lost. They couldn't have tried to care any less. I was told that there was nothing they could do and pretty much dismissed.
Truly unhelpful and careless. I will not stay there again.
Facts:
One night, Spectacular Room King Bed, Friday night.
Check-in:
I checked in during the evening time, say around 7pm. It was packed! I think it was probably due to Friday night happy hour, but the receptionist desk, which is adjacent to the rest of the lobby/bar, was over-crowded. The lobby was very modern, chiche, and poppin' (music in the background). I did not have a chance to really admire the lobby and interior of the hotel, however, since i was getting irritated that i was waiting over 15 mins just to reach the check-in desk! There was one receptionist and over 6 ppl waiting in this very cramped area. I wouldve liked if someone came out just to organize a kind of line to the desk, but no one would. Guests were scattered all over and around the receptionist desk.
After 15 minutes or so of lugging our luggage and waiting in line, we finally get checked-in. On the positive side, the receptionist was very apologetic, friendly, and accommodating. He asked if we needed help with luggage, but did not ask if we would like someone to show us our room.
Room:
We were given the spectacular room as reserved. It was very impressive. Although the room was small, I would say it was more "cozy" than "small". It was very modern in terms of furnishing and had very interesting items in the room, such as a small buddha statue that lights up in a purple glow (giving the room an awesome ambiance appropriate for young people like myself).
The bathroom was very modern and had a neat sliding door with fogged glass (i have no qualms about fogged glass, but I am aware some guests are not comfortable with that, especially when it is used for a bathroom door). I was slightly disappointed that the bathroom did not have a separate shower and tub. It was a simple tub/shower combination with a plastic/vinyl draping often found in hotels much cheaper than this. The toiletries were all there and i did not find anything missing that i really needed.
The TV was a flat screen/LG with high-def cable. There was HBO and the video quality was good. There was also a very fancy-lookin ipod player/clock that i did not have the chance to utilize (forgot my ipod).
Service:
Despite the encounter with the receptionist, I did not request any other services. I did ask for a taxi cab, and the parking attendant did a fine job even running out into the middle of the street to find us a cab. Good man.
Facilities:
I did not use any of the hotel's facilities.
Overall impression:
As a first-time guest at a W hotel, I was overall happy with my stay. I really, really liked the room in which i stayed in. It was clean, chiche, and had everything i wanted out of the room. The service was a-ok, though i can't blame the reception experience because it was mainly due to a sudden traffic jam of guests. Would i stay here again? Yes i would.
With some trepidation, we decided to stay at the W for one night in San Francisco. My concerns?
1. I'm not in my 20's
2. Too many rumors about the staff's icy attitude
Luckily my fears were completely unwarranted, and I enjoyed a great stay here. We got a good deal on http://Hotels.com and opted for a Cool Corner room overlooking my favorite block in SOMA (3rd and Mission including Yerba Buena, MOMA, St. Patrick's and the jukebox Marriott). The rooms were impeccably clean and surprisingly spacious, albeit with slightly kitchy decor. There's plenty of cool and quirky room amenities to keep you entertained including books, kaleidoscopes, a glowing neon Buddha, a foot massager, an iPod docked clock radio and $8.00 Voss water. Yes, I said it, eight dollar water. Do yourself a favor and stock up at the Walgreens nearby before settling into your room.
I'm a sucker for Bliss products, so true to form in the http://Hotels.com commercial, "THEY GOT ME, AHH THEY GOT ME". I simply adore Bliss' lemon sage body lotion.
One caveat: Stay away from the XYZ lounge. It's pure cheese personified. On the surface, the XYZ lounge's weeknight crowd bustles with S.F.'s business elite letting off steam while closing mega deals over single malt scotch. I've got to tell you that from my vantage point at the Ms. Pac Man tabletop machine (*smiles*, awesome touch) you get a good view of yuppies, tech nerds, hipsters, and swingers with a sprinkling of other high class "professionals" from one of the oldest professions known to man...
If this is not your scene, I suggest that you walk a 1/2 block to the St. Regis and have a Hirotini instead. The mood there is decidedly more mellow and the W won't mind since they're both Starwood properties. Overall, the W's central SOMA location and out of the ordinary experience makes a stay here worthwhile.
This was seriously the best hotel I've ever stayed at in my life. And since this isn't a tropical location, we're not talking about an ocean view or cabana hut on a bed of clear blue water. We're just simply talking about a city hotel. Shouldn't be too hard to mess that up.
But unfortunately, many do in this city. I've stayed at a lot of hotels here, and the W blew me out of the water.
Came here on a little rendezvous after I was persuaded by my friend to come stay with him. I was so glad that I did.
I'm someone who notices the smallest of details, and that's what makes this hotel great. From the reed diffusers in the elevator, to the glowing buddha in our room, to the window sill cushions, to the to-die-for goose down pillow top bed, to the bliss spa products in the bathroom, to the chinese checkers board on our table, to the lush quilt on our bed, to the iPod dock, the list goes on and on and on... Everything was just so well designed and executed.
We even went down to the restaurant the next morning to try and rid of our toxins from the previous evening by indulging into some eggs benedict and orange juice. It was all pretty good and descent, and my benedict was on top of a slice of french toast. Not bad, just different.
Even the design of the restaurant/bar was great, down to the plates themselves.
I will seriously be back sometime. They have these escape packages combined with spa treatments that I'm dying to try out!
Included the W Hotel Bar in a night of classy bar hopping and I hope never to go back. Drinks were excessive ($14 for a vodka tonic - nothing special) and the crowd was frankly more thuggy than business-minded or upscale.
I can't believe I am giving the W hotel (in San Francisco of all places) only 2 stars. You would think this hotel was fabulous, with great customer service, but for some odd reason, it was the complete opposite during our stay over Labor Day weekend.
Couple of not so good highlights:
- When we arrived at the hotel, the check-in counter took forever to attend to us....my friend who booked the hotels for us is a platium elite member of spg, and we still had to wait in the line.
- It seems they were having trouble with checking people into their rooms because they told every customer "I'm sorry, your room is still being cleaned, please come back in an hour or two". Seriously???
- We had booked two rooms, and since my friend has platinum elite, he should have at least gotten a 1 room upgrade, but the attendant didn't even mention it.
- Once we finally got into our rooms, they were decent, kinda small for a W, so I thought it was just okay. One weird thing about the hotel rooms - the bathroom door was frosted glass - where's the privacy???
- To top things off, at the end of our stay, we couldn't check out of the room and get the final bill to ensure it was accurate because their system was down.
- My friend's CC got overcharged $115 bucks for 1 of the rooms for no reason at all. (He is getting reimbursed, but still...)
I am not sure if they were having an off weekend, or it was just way too busy for Labor Day, but you would think the W hotel would live up to its name and brand.
I think my days staying at the W are finally done. I hope the W replaces the T-shirts on the staff at the Registration Desk in San Francisco with the last $800.00 I'll give them for a trashed and poorly remodeled room. The parking lot attendant was better dressed than the front desk folks. Bottom line: Don't waste you hard earned money at this W!
The SFO W staff is visually unorganized and lack the customer service this price point demands. The lobby is more representative of a busy day care than an upscale hotel. I think the babies are crying because the door man hasn't washed his dreadlocks in months and his appearance is reminiscent of a wide-eyed doll in a horror movie. Not kidding.
The rooms, carpets, walls and upholstery have suffered from poor maintenance and a basement-budget remodel done by a colorblind Zen-themed committee that was hell bent on mashing bright white, lime green and plastic Buddha dolls into an acceptable décor. I couldn't believe the plastic "cloud mirrors" they stuck on the ceiling and headboard! What are they smoking in the service elevator these days?
The W earns a solid F. I'd give them an F- but the Valet gave me two warm bottles of Nestle water as my wife and I left.
I used to be one of their strongest fans too.
I haven't actually stayed at the W.
I have stalked celebrities at the W.
When I found out that Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Kajol, and SRK were going to stay here, I was perched in those chairs right by the elevator.
The lobby has everything you need to pass time comfortably--cozy chairs, Pac Man, a bar...
We took a stalking break and had brunch at XYZ. The food was pretty good, and our server was friendly and also enthusiastic about the Bollywood guests.
Since I was there for so many hours, I can vouch for the excellent customer service provided to the dozens of people checking in and out.
Dharma Productions--you picked a great hotel for the stars!
Free wifi and bottomless coffee refills make this a cheap meeting place for the convening. Rooms look nice.
This place was awesome! Everything from the decor to the service I was very impressed. Stayed a total of 3 nights here and it was in a perfect location.
They have a hotline you can call called "whatever, whenever" answers anything you want to know. The modern style of the place was really cool and entertaining. I especially enjoyed the free puma bikes they lend out on a first come first serve basis. You can see the city at its best by bikes and not to mention how many heads turned and compliments I got about the bikes. For now on im staying at the W hotel in every city
Great place for business meetings.
Lobby has free wifi, bar opens around noon for lunch and drinks.
The lounge has tons of outlets for laptops. Pretty busy, get there early to snag a spot.
The bar at the W hotel on 3rd and Howard is a great drink spot if you're attending a conference at the Moscone Center. It's hip, business-minded and well located for conference participants. For the rest of us, the W hotel is really pretty average.
Hotel bars are always rated low for me because they feel too standardized. Granted the W hotel chain is a hip brand, the bars and all the W hotels I've been have the same feel. That is design-oriented, hip, but very sceney and over priced. This one is the same. It's worth mentioning that SF on average is none of these things so I think most folks find this to be an exciting spot...but having lived in the Big Apple for a bunch of years I know places like these are a dime a dozen.
Ok, enough lemon juice for a day...time to make some lemonade.

Do I wanna go back? Lets see. Merci!
Great space fit for the hip global nomad, cute and modern decor in guest rooms, colorful cherry blossoms and art plastered inside the elevators and walls, great brunch at XYZ, faint techno muzak heard at every corner. Fourth floor rooftop is a great space for outdoor gatherings, so on a nice day in the city, it may be worth it to sneak up here and lounge with cocktails in hand. Indoor pool area is cute, although we weren't able to get inside at night despite being told we could.
Horrible scene on the first floor of this hotel on weekend nights. It felt like hell. It felt like the Marina fused with Vegas mixed with Miami combined with Hollywood. Completely intolerable -- totally not my taste.
If anyone is familiar with the W, you know what to expect in service, style and al around W culture. In recent time, its obvious the W has been effected by downturn in econmy. The level of service has completly taken a 360 degree turn. Just walking in you don't feel the W vibe. The W prides itself on serivce, which is not the case now. I'm sure the staff tries its best to be tenitive to guest need's however that hasn't been the case in recent times. Your lucky, if you get a hello or welcome. I don't blame the staff, when I know there under pressure to produce high results with limited resources. I hope things get better. Well see.
On a normal night, accommendations range from $100-$400 depending on what you prefer. New years, range from $300-$650 (Reserve months earlier)
Lots of events has been created here. 3 levels of different dance floors, different music, different scenes.
XYZ Lounge is a pretty cool place to be on any night in the city. Waiting for the cocktail waitress to take your order could be challenging, just fight your way through the crowd to the bar. Drink prices are usual in a trendy city hotel bar, be prepared.
Parking is another thing, I remembered it's about $40 if you're staying at the hotel, or you can park at the public parking garage a block away (across from the mascone center) and just walk.
FOR THE LOUNGE:
Ok, I don't even know WHERE to start. I ended up here after a birthday dinner. First timer, recommended by a friend. This place APPEARED fancy and well-decorated; obviously it's a HOTEL! I sure would hope so! It has 3 floors and each floor has sofas and coffee tables to relax. I was checking out the Massage Pod Chair on the third floor. It was cool but probably pretty beaten by by drunks. =X Anywayz, the crowd wasn't my deal and the DJ sucked. The promoter of this place should be FIRED cuz they can't even afford to put lighting in this place???!!! Moonlight sonata?? WTH?!! LoL... It was dark on the dance floor if anyone was conscious enough to even notice! Anywayz, had to call it a night. This place is a 3.5 STAR HOTEL! Not my type of hotel OR lounge...
Decoration: GOOD
Music: POOR
Price: N/A
Return: NO WAY (for the lounge)!
Nice, chic, hip hotel right in the heart of downtown SF. Generally you'll find a younger crowd here.
We got hooked up to the top floor (31st) and we had a gorgeous view of the bay thanks to my girl who works in the hotel industry. The rooms are small compared to others of the same caliber. Interior is very contemporary, comfy beds, trippy see-through bathroom door so if you walk by, you can see what they're doing inside. We were all girls so we didn't care. If you stay here, make sure to check out their snacks and all the interesting "extras." The little "screw" package is cute...lol.
They have an indoor pool, but it's really small and only goes 4 feet deep. There's a hot tub too. What I do like is the sky windows so you have natural light. Their gym is really small and disappointing with maybe less than 10 machines.
Service was good. One weird thing is that most places provide a phone charger if you ask. This place has phone chargers, but you have to leave your phone at the front desk to charge. Weird. Overall, great experience!
The best summary I can give of this place is: for what you're paying, it's not worth it. It's definitely really nice, it is The W, but it's not nearly as nice as the others I've been to in the U.S (New Orleans, Seattle, New York). There are plenty of other chic hotels in San Francisco with better bars, decor that is just as nice without trying so hard (the W feels more like a hotel amusement park than an actual hotel), and equal service.
If you're in to more modern hotels I'd recommend the Nikko over the W any day of the week. And you'll probably save money.
Love the lounge and the bar. Classy and cool atmosphere. Service was excellent.
FOR THE BAR:
When you have a sassy cocktail waitress that is able to cater to 40 drunk girls at a bachelorette party, as well as the people from the local cataract convention without breaking a sweat, well that is talent.
She never once left me hanging onto an empty glass.
She never even had to ask me after the first order what my drink was, she just remembered.
And she put all my champagne on the tab of the visiting businessman that I was talking to from Texas. What a gal! She said he really wanted to buy me these drinks. When I left I thanked him and he nodded like he knew he had bought me oh, 5 glasses of champagne, but he had no idea................
Oh the fireplace also rocks, the place is filled even on weekends with business travelers looking for some actions so if you are single and looking for an out of town fling, or a cougar looking for some fun, this is hot spot for you. This is not for the under 30 crowd though, mature audiences only. There were moments when I, at 32, felt too young to be here. But only for a brief second.
Fun, modern, professional, work hard play hard atmosphere.
And did I mention how the staff rocks?
Sigh. Why can't I rate anything 3.5 stars?
The W Hotel is okay, I suppose, but gets a tad dull when you spend 45 consecutive nights there. The biggest problem I have is that the rooms are minuscule, and the decor is kinda early 21st century. Maybe it's time for a re-do, W?
The saddest thing about the W, really, is that they don't have any vegan options on the room service menu. Now, I realize that most people don't order room service, but at the W, they have a special portion of the room service menu dedicated entirely to PETS. Now, if you can order a fillet mignon for your dog (no, I'm not kidding), it seems ridiculous that a vegan can't order a decent entree, doesn't it?
That said, the W does make the best french fries I've ever had.
The bar on the 1st floor is pretty popular so it is always busy and noisy down stairs though i must say it is great for people watching. hehe
the rooms have contemporary decor but are crammed. My room had H2O toiletries which is a great spa brand however other people had Bliss products. the limited space and tons of furniture was over bearing. Oh i love the bed. It was very comfortable. Actually i love W bed so much that i bought one for my self so i can re create the relaxing experience in my room. All in all, a fabulous fun hotel in a great city location
Love W Hotels! Always clean, always hip, and always modern, this place fits the needs of one and all. The staff is kind, courteous and helpful, and the rooms are what I want my future townhome to look like. I love the fresh flowers, the creative designs, the free apples, and the Whatever Whenever service. Great location too, in walking distance of Union Square, Moscone Center and Oola, (the yummy late night eatery in the city).
My only complaint is overnight parking, $40 a night!! That's just too much when you're already paying $300 per night.
I can't complain- a corner fabulous room, it's RIGHT next to the SF MOMA and across the street from Yerba Buena Gardens..the bar has great drinks, the XYZ restaurant has decent breakfasts- I recommend walking a few blocks to THE BUTLER AND THE CHEF on South Park st.
They do anything and everything they can to help you here- though I didn't try to push the limits...It smells REALLY good EVERYWHERE and that holograms in the elevators captivated me every time. Comfy bed... soundproof walls...what more could you ask for?
