Compared to the rest of the shopping in Cedar Rapids, Von Maur is as good as it gets. I'm not sure if this says more about Cedar Rapids or Von Maur.
I have to admit, compared to other department stores, their lingerie department is very nice. They have a terrific range of sizes, which makes my bra shopping so much easier. It's harder to find those 34*coughcough* bras in most department stores, and Von Maur is now my favorite place to look for new styles.
Their clothing selection is just the right size in my opinion and they offer a good range of brands. They have enough merchandise to spend some time perusing, but not too much that you get overwhelmed (which I easily do with too many options). I'm really impressed with not only the range of brands but the quality of the brands too.
I always stop to check out the sale shoe room too. It's always in order and has benches to try shoes on, which is a nice change from most sale shoe racks.
Von Maur makes my trips to Cedar Rapids a little more expensive, but the retail therapy is definitely worth it.Listed in: Born to Shop

I've been shopping at Von Maur my entire life and will probably be buried in something I purchased there as well.
Classy place without the attitude. Von Maur has everything: great customer service, variety of options and price-points for clothing, awesome shoe selection (with the *best* sale room!), great selection of jewelry, free shipping on items purchased online, free gift wrapping, and zero interest on their Von Maur card. This is always the first place I stop for birthday gifts, baby shower presents, christmas, birthday, etc. Or if I just decide I need something new...and I usually don't fight myself with that. -

OK first off yes they have nice stuff here but True Religion jeans for $230 serious? I saw nicer True Religion jeans in Palm Springs California for $150 too $200 range, and all the Iowa Hawkeye crap in that store made me want to get sick! They had a very little amount of University of Northern Iowa stuff there and some Iowa State stuff, I don't understand why a place like this would sell these college shirts etc here when they charge $35 for a shirt I can get for $12 somewhere else?
This is a very nice store and has a lot of brands you don't really see in to many other stores in Cedar Rapids, or in Iowa for that matter. The employee's are around and help their customers. -

In major metropolitan areas this store would be nothing special. However, here in Iowa, this store rocks in that it is the only department store that actually delivers some fashion to the people.

My only complaint is that I dont personally dont find much for me there.
But, my wife and kids find lots of top notch clothes there. And shoes, which can be tricky for kids, but I can order the exact size I need and they will call me when they are in. Gift wrapping is top notch as well.
The enviroment is pleasent and warm with a good layout for the store.
