10 reviews for Volvo Centrum Inc.
One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
I have a '90 volvo and volvo centrum has been good to it. The ppl are super nice and don't rip you off (if they originally quote one price and find the part for cheaper, for example, they let you know and charge you the cheaper price!). Also a big plus in my book is that they're near MUNI, so you're not stranded once you drop off your car.
ok, I had passed by this place a million times before it registered with me that this was a Volvo specialty shop!! I needed to have a couple of lights replaced. when I got there, the guy asked me: "do you want us to do it while you wait?" Huh? I was used to having to leave it off at the dealer, wait for a phone call, dread how many other things they found that needed repair.....
I said sure. 10 minutes later I was out the door! even topped off my coolant and gave some recommendations on upgrades until the hybrid comes out.
felt like an old fashioned neighborhood service stations. I guess that is exactly what it is!
For approximately 15 years, my very-very-cute 1972 Volvo 1800 sports car was serviced at Volvo Centrum & I'd still be going here if I hadn't sold the car a couple years ago!
Trond, Bill and the rest of the staff were always great at explaining what my car needed & breaking down the costs. When I sold the car, they were kind enough to speak with the buyer & answer his questions. In the end, my then 33 year old car was running better than it did when I bought it 15 years prior.
Bill took great care of the 90 Wagon we brought in because the seat came unhinged. Bill, the manager (owner?), fixed it right away - super quick and free. I'll update when we need to take it in for a big problem - because I'll definitely be taking it here.
I normally have my Volvo serviced down in San Mateo, but needed a quick fix with my car (front seat came off its hinge) and they fixed it for free. Very friendly folks, and i'll look into having my car serviced here in the future.
The people who work here are AWESOME to say the least. Their prices are fair = cheaper than the Volvo Dealer/Mechanic on Howard St and here's the inside scoop: most of the employees at Volvo Centrum are former employees of VOLVO of San Francisco who were laid off due to downsizing at volvo. On one occassion, I heard an discordant sound emminating from my front passenger side when I made hard left turns. I took my 2000 Volvo S80 to Volvo of SF and three other mechanics that will remain nameless and they could not diagnose the problem. One excuse I received was, "It's a Volvo thing that can not be repaired." I took my car in for maintenance at Centrum at the advice of a Volvo of San Francisco employee and when I picked my car up the mechanic said, "Oh yeah. By the way we fixed that noise coming from your front passenger side. It was just 'x, y, and z.' "
I took my 2004 Volvo here yesterday for the first time. I finally decided it made no sense to pass this shop on the way to the dealership. The person I scheduled my appointment with was super friendly (high praise from a call center consultant!). Bill was great about checking me in first thing so I could get to a client meeting and then answering all our questions patiently.
Great place to bring a Volvo in SF. The quality of work is high, and their prices reasonable.
I think the mechanics in this shop are good, but I've had uneven overall service over the years, especially lately. It seems like it's a communication or scheduling problem -- you bring in your car and explain everything to Bill at the counter, then at the end of the day your car is "ready," though the stuff you asked about may or may not have been addressed.
Nice people for sure, and decent prices, but I would call the overall quality of service unremarkable. Your mileage may vary (ha).
