Volcano Country Cottages

Sandy was really helpful in planning our itinerary out and about the park and heading to the lava flow. They even provide flashlights. The cottage was simple, but very comfortable for four with a lovely and QUIET surrounding. Breakfast included fresh fruits, fresh coffee, milk, oj, and just about the best banana bread I ever ate (with macademia nuts ftw).
The only complaint is the hot tub wasn't hot enough for me at 37C. But that's typical in the US. I need 42C+ to hit the zone. At least it wasn't as bad as the Outrigger's which should be renamed tepidtub.
We stayed in the Berry cottage for honeymooners during part of our honeymoon trip a couple of years ago.. It was an absolutely awesome place to stay. First of all, the innkeepers were very attentive and nice. After a day spent touring the volcano area, we were met with a large umbrella and a bottle of champagne (it was pouring rain.)
After thanking them profusely, we took glasses and champagne to the hot tub in the middle of a shady grove of trees. Instead of turning on the lights, we lit the candles that were provided. It was very romantic listening to the rain on the tin-like roof as we sipped champagne while soaking in the hot tub.
We also enjoyed the fresh fruit for breakfast as we sat on the lanai. When it was time to go, we hated leaving to go to another part of the island. As we drove away, we consoled ourselves that we would be back again for one of our anniversaries...
