***Update***

We've moved!   Bigger and better!   =)

Clean, Friendly Environment, and lots and lots of Fun!!

***Remember: it is ALWAYS advisable to AVOID a street fight at any cost!
No matter how good you are at your art/sport, ANY crazy person can just grab a gun and shoot you.    Then that's it - end of story ****

-------------------------------------------------- ----------------

This my second home.

I have trained many years in various martial arts for many years, but  Muay Thai (thai boxing) is my favorite.  I think it is the most effective as well - standing up on two feet.

Vo-Sci Academy (or interpreted in Chinese to Wu-Sci Academy) literally means "Martial-Science."    Sure Martial Arts is cool and fun to learn - but you have to ask yourself:   what really is 'practical' when defending yourself or loved ones on the mean streets?

Hence, the Martial Science Motto:  "what is the quickest way to KO someone?"    How do you turn their 'lights out!'

Sure it's cool to self defend yourself with some swords, sticks or butterfly knives (in Martial Arts) , but how practical is it to carry those items in your pocket when you walk around in public?  You'd get arrested, of course!

Not to disrespect other martial arts, but from my experience of training in numerous Martial Arts over the years in Karate, Aikido, Krav Maga and JuJitsu  - - - Plain and simple - - -  this is effective self defense on the streets when it comes to reality of being accosted in a threatening situation.

Muay Thai is known as the "science of 8 limbs."   That inclues your 2 fists, 2 elbows, 2 knees, and 2 shin bones to strike with.

The Khru (teacher/sensei/master) is very knowledgeable on the art of Muay Thai and even the ancient art of Muay Thai - Muay Boran and Mae Mai.   He has the necessary credentials under his belt, as he has trained many years in the motherland of Muay Thai - Thailand.   What is Muay Boran?   http://www.youtube.com...        with exception to the biting part!

The Khru is very humble and well-grounded in his theory of the art of Muay Thai and its application toward real street fighting.    He also explains training sessions in a very logical way.     This is what I appreciate.   None of this, "you must be like water" kind of ambiguity.

I train here physically and mentally at least 4 times a week ( they open 6 consecutive days) and I'm in the best shape of my life.   I feel great and have more energy.

I have been to a couple of  Muay Thai gyms in my life, but this one seems to be the most friendly, while simultaneously being the most motivated.   If that statement does not make any sense to you -  well you will just have to come and check it out and see for yourself.

Everybody is very respectful to each other and will make newcomers feel comfortable as well.   And to those who come in with an 'ego' -  well, please be sure to check that shit at the door.  Thank You.   As the saying goes:  a showoff is his/her own executioner!

Vo-Sci Academy offers children's classes as well for the parents who would like to implement some discipline along with some fun in their 'Special Ones.'

Work out free-of-charge for a couple of sessions.   You will either Love it or decide it is not for you.   No problem.  Just feel free to come and visit.

as my khru's first student i can attest of his vast knowledge of the science of eight limbs. i have had a lot of martial arts instructors teach me throughout my life, khru thai bby far surpasses all of them with his focus on technique, execution and motivation. i have been training there on and off for the last 16 months and ive learned a great deal of muay thai and ancient muay thai. the school is great. very clean, very friendly atmosphere to train in and get in shape and gain effective self defense. this is not a run of the mill muay thai school. it is one of the most technical muay thai schools in all of so cal. ive gone to a lot of muay thai schools in so cal and lets just say that vo sci is technically light years ahead of almost all of them. the school also offers very flexible hours. 11-1 pm mondays, wednesdays, thursdays. 6-9 pm monday through thursday. 1-5 on saturdays. the classes are not broken down to an hr long, you can stay as long as you want so you can further accelarate your progression in your weight loss and in your technique. the prices are very accessible so you can train in this economic recession. i came in weighing 226 when i first started and now im at 195. come check it out. you wont be disappointed.

"Home away from home" Is a quote that holds a lot of truth about Vo-Sci. Most if not all martial arts school feel intimidating when your a newcomer. But this place feels just right from the first day I came in to check out the gym I was greeted and welcomed and made feel very comfortable. The khru (trainer) was extremely knowledgeable about the art of Muay Thai and the ancient art of Muay Boran. The school is always kept at top notch in cleanliness. The other students are also very humble in greeting new possibly future students. I've been here for a few months and I can't think of another place besides my home that I like spending hours at then this place.  It's perfect if your looking for the exercise and weight loss. But it's also good for self defense and having the self confidence and clear mind if any bad situation arises. The training is intense and gratifying you get great cardio workout. I highly recommend this place if you want to learn a great martial art that boosts confidence.

I am updating my review after six months of training with VO-SCI. I need to tell you guys that I started the classes at 224 pounds. As of today I'm at 200pds!VO-SCI academy opens 5 days a week and the hours are excellent & 6-9p. For those of us that work , we still have a  chance to put in an hour  or two of training. Our instructor is very knowledgeable and not shy to push you to the next level. In Muay Thai we do use elbows, knees, kicks & punches, so do expect to bruised here and there. This is not a gym for those who are just looking to put on some Muay Thai trunks. Everybody in this gym trains hard and the same is expected from each and everyone one of us. We do have girls in the gym and let me tell you something, these girls can throw blows. Come and check us out. Our instructor is very friendly and so are our members. The rates a very reasonable and the location is huge.Parking is secure and we do enjoy a full scale boxing ring. There is a huge room that is fully padded for grappling and Thai ground fighting that you will learn at VO-SCI.  5 STARS FOR VO SCI!
