Vivace is, without question, one of the best restaurants in Tucson. Whether you're looking for a good place for a business lunch or a romantic celebratory dinner, you will never be disappointed at Vivace. Run by the Scordato family, (long term restauranteurs in Tucson), the food and the service are top notch. This is one of the few restaurants in Tucson that truly deserves a 5-star rating.

I usually get the fish special, which is always delicious. Normally it's served with vegetables and a bed of rice. The veggies are always cooked perfectly, and their rice has an amazing flavor (it must have lots of butter)!

The meat lovers in my family (husband and kids) love the lamb chops and the osso bucco. My son swears that their filet is the best he's had in Tucson. The wine list is excellent, and many of the bottle prices are reasonable. They also have superb pasta dishes and outstanding desserts. My favorite thing to get at lunch is the spinach soufflé, which (if you like spinach and cheese) is heavenly.

I always make a reservation on open table. You can get in at lunch without a reservation, but it's better if you have one, especially for dinner.

    Tuesday night dinner. 7pm.

Coworker: You are the younger person in here by at least 20 years.

    Me: :-o

Very solid Italian restaurant. The restaurant is very traditional, the menu is traditional, the service is friendly and attentive, the food was pleasant. Overall, a very good restaurant. But... it's nothing special to me.

I ordered the Chicken Meatballs with Capellini and it was very good and the portions were good too. After I loaded up on wine and free bread, I barely finished half of my pasta. Excellent. Just the way I like it.

I think the location is a little bit out there but it definitely has some charm over the typical strip mall/suburban restaurant. I would definitely come back here if it was closer and I was craving some Italian food but I'm still making my way around the Tucson restaurant scene so we'll see what else I discover..

This is one of my go-to lunch places for taking new employees. Both food and service are consistently good.   The dining room has a nice, relaxed feel even when its busy.  The patio is also really nice.

I've not been for dinner so I can't comment on that, but sometimes I think the lunch menu is limited.  Then I realize that I always order 1 of 2 dishes anyway so I guess it works for me after all. The stuffed mushrooms or spinach and cheese souffle are my regulars. I always immensely enjoy the side of greens with the citrus-y vinaigrette - such a tasty way to get your veggies.   The bread with pesto dipping sauce is what carb dreams are made of.  Seriously, I could eat an entire basket myself.

Seems they are always crazy busy at lunch so I suggest a reservation unless you are going early.

Went here for dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant is lovely, decorated in warm tones. Service is outstanding.

Our table was next to a side entrance and it was very annoying (not to mention cold and drafty) to have wait staff and patrons opening and closing the door behind us.

After reading other Yelp reviews, I expected the food to be phenomenal. Portions are large. The food was good, much better than a chain restaurant, but by no means was I blown away.

Appetizers were the stuffed mushrooms and escargot. The mushrooms were cooked properly but a bit bland. The escargot were good, cheesy and served with crusty bread. We ordered the Caesar salad and the pear and walnut salad. Both were good.

Entrees were the stuffed pork chop, cheese manicotti, seafood soup and sausage in penne. Again, portions were huge. My pork chop was nice and crispy with fresh spinach and served with a very large portion of mashed potatoes. The potatoes were very whipped and seemed to taste almost like faux potatoes.

Desserts were the best part of the meal.

I will definitely go again but with lower expectations.

wow. Went to this restaurant when it first opened up. Just went back this weekend. Wow, what a difference. The food was bland, over priced, the service sucked and the decor is still the same. Way overated.
They need Chef Robert Irvine to come to this place and save it. Cause it sucks. Look at these ratings. These people must work at or know someone who works at this restaurant cause no way it rates four of five stars.

We stopped in for a birthday lunch yesterday, my son wanted Italian for his birthday.  The food was all good, but the lunch menu is not a long one, 3 pastas, a few sandwiches, and a few meats.  All of the food was good, we had the salmon special, the ham & cheese sandwich, egg plant, and sausage penne.   My favorites were the salmon and the sausage penne.   This is a nice, elegant spot to spend lunch, I will come back and try it for dinner.

Consistently the bf and my go-to place for a superb lunch. I also come with one of my sorority sisters quite frequently. Actually, we come so often they know our orders. We throw them off sometimes when we decide to order something different. The service is always friendly and accommodating, which is also why we love the place.

We've never gone to dinner here, but it's always in our top 5 for lunch options. The crowd is much older, and very much prim and proper... but that won't take away from the food. (:

Like most fine dining, the lunch menu is lower in price than the dinner menu. I've always ordered the ricotta manicotti and vow each and every time to try something different next time, but I can't seem to stay away. Their creme brulee is awesome as well. As far as their dinner menu, I would recommend either the crab stuffed chicken or the stuffed pork chops. You can't really go wrong with anything that is stuffed ;)

The servers are attentive, the ambiance is nice, and prices are reasonable. Definitely a place to go if you have folks in town or just want a little luxe culture and Phoenix is too far away.

By the way, my favorite item is not at all on the menu. It's actually the complimentary bread that comes with a pesto spread that I can't get enough of. If it wasn't tacky, I'd ask for a to-go jar of this!

Stumbled on this place accidentally. Meant to go to the pizzeria next door for lunch, but walked in here instead. I was a little confused why there wasn't any pizza on the menu but decided to stay.

But I am sure glad I did!  Fantastic food, great vegetarian options, speedy and friendly service, clean restaurant. I also felt the price was great for the delicious food we were served.

Came back a few days later for another lunch. All of us really enjoyed our food.

After 3 years of hearing about Vivace, I finally got my chance to go when visiting Tucson. It was worth the wait, but now I am plotting how to get back to Tucson ASAP so that I can go again.

The atmosphere is delightful, as is the wait staff. You can tell these people like working there. Our service was impeccable, and servers who weren't assigned to our table were happy to answer questions.

I ordered the crab stuffed chicken. It was sublime. The sauce was amazing and I really just wanted a bowl of the sauce to drink, or better yet, dip a loaf of bread in! My sister ordered the chicken meatballs with pasta and marinara. It was a very generous portion (5 meatballs, I think). We also had caesar salad and 2 desserts. All were good portion sizes and delish! We had the napoleon. The napoleon was unlike any I have ever had. I highly recommend this dessert if you are a dessert person.

The best Italian restaurant in Tucson, hands down.  The fish of the day should never be overlooked but the Osso Bucco is among the best I have ever had.  Do not bypass the cheese souffle as an appetizer, it's rich, creamy and delicious.  The antipasto platter is fresh, delicious and filled with quality meats and cheeses.  Seafood soup is a sleeper and more like mild Cioppino with a silky smooth tomato sauce served atop pasta.  Service is always prompt and efficient and  dining outside when weather permits is always enjoyable.  I seldom give 5 stars but this is my top rated restaurant in Tucson.

This place is good. You hear things and read things, but you have to find out for yourself. And the best part is that, unexpectedly, the prices are not outrageous, as you sometimes will find at places like Vivace. Our meal came out to be priced about the same as a night at the Macaroni Grill, and this is including alchol (2 drinks) and an app (dead snails in American..mmm tasty). If it wasn't such a far drive for us we'd eat here more often.

Food: 5 stars - Started off with escargot and artichokes, which primed our palates. I got the crab stuffed chicken breast, which was excellent and gone in about 5 minutes. Highly recommended. The 4 cheese manicotti, which I stole a few bites of from my wife, was also very good. The food is rich though, and they tempt you with bread at the beginning, so we had no room for dessert.

Ambience: 4 stars - I'd say that it is not as loud as some other reviewers say, but it is not a place where you whisper either.

Service: 5 stars - Service was what you should expect. Our waiter never kept us waiting, and the food came out lighting fast. They are on top of things in that kitchen.

Parking was easy to find in St. Philip's Plaza, even on Friday night.
The dress ranged from button up shirts and jeans to full on suits (special occasion maybe?) I'd say class it up but don't go overboard.

Vivace Restaurant is pretty good for being out in Tucson. Nice location and affordable wine list.

Escargot was very nice. Can something drenched in butter not be nice?
Antipasti was a little disappointing and I did not like the presentation of the components divided into neat divided sections.

Veal was decent. Chicken meatballs over pasta were nice but came with way too much pasta. Then again this is probably was you'd expect at an Italian eatery. The fish of the day, which was Branzino was prepared nicely, but as was the case with most of the other items on the menu, the simple side of vegetable rice was disappointing. Instead using the same starch or veg for every protein mix it up a little please.

Gelato came out way too cold. And finally the limoncello was more bitter than boozy.

Tucson doesn't have the best dining.  It actually kind of sucks.  HOWEVER, Vivace is a breath of fresh air in this department.

I highly recommend the veal picatta.  Very traditional.  Prepared very well.  I'll try to the pasta the next time around.  Dessert was fanastic.  I had the bread pudding.  Buttery goodness with a touch of caramel on top.  Add on the scoop of vanilla gelato -- amazing!

Service was good.  And they carry some good wines -- also unusual for Tucson.  I'm definitely a fan of this place.

I eat at this restaurant every time I visit Tucson for being one of the best values for the quality. The owner, Danny, is always very friendly and ensures that everyone who comes in has a great experience.

There is no one dish that I love the most but I think the antipasto plate and the veal are some of the highlights. They are simple but the flavors are so pure and leave you with a great feeling afterward.

Have a bottle of Pio Cesare Barolo for a truly unfogettable experience!

Had a great time at this restaurant this past Friday. Took my mom here for the first time. We both really enjoyed it. Sat on the patio, and enjoyed the band from another restaurant (playing jazz). Good ambiance! Great homemade pasta in both our dishes (the manicotti and the seafood lasagna). Both were fabulous. The meat sauce with the manicotti was full of flavor, surely it was slow cooked for hours. The seafood in the lasagna was light and savory. We also had gelato, simply amazing. Didn't give it 5 stars, because the service was a little lackluster. But all in all had a great night.

Would recommend, if you are looking for a decent Italian meal. But be prepared, entrees are over $15, and with a nice glass of wine, don't be surprised if your bill for 2 is around $80.

Was finally able to make it to this place on this visit. Didn't have a reservation but this place is pretty big so it was easy to get a seat, especially on a Thursday night. We were seated outside and were able to enjoy the music at Acacia which is across the courtyard. Nice perk!

The only downfall was that the menu has limited selections, in my opinion.  So I ended up ordering an appetizer, a pasta dish, and a dessert.

App: stuffed mushrooms. Great flavor! Not overloaded with breadcrumbs, nice flavorful broth to swirl the pieces in.

Pasta: Seafood lasagna. Very delicate handmade pasta, super thin. Tomato sauce was very fresh tasting, not overloaded with garlic. Not a ton of seafood though, would have liked more.  Excellent flavor though and very delicate for a lasagna. Which is refreshing.

Dessert: Napoleon with lemon creme and fresh fruit. This was awesome. The lemon flavor was not overwhelming, was instead refreshing. You can taste the real whipping cream. The super thin cookie layer was amazing; crispy nutty caramel goodness.  I could've eaten five of these things.

Martinis are cleverly served in a typical glass but with a mini carafe in a mini ice bucket. Very cute, certainly makes you feel you're getting extra.

Service was fantastic! The comment was that our waiter really seemed to like his job. How often do you see that? He was professional yet friendly and offered bits of conversation that were informative and enriching.

They say Yelpers are one way or the other:  either they like a place for service or they like a place for its food.  This place will make both types of Yelpers happy!

Disappointing if you remember the owners restaurant called Daniel's years ago. It is a middle of the road Italian restaurant with not much Italian traditional dishes. A few pasta dishes but not the usual you would expect from the normal Italian eatery. I think he has tweaked the menu for the older crowd that wants dishes on the heavy, cheesy gloppy butter side.
Prices are high to moderate, all in all there are better trattorias around. Either that or I remember back when it was a better restaurant when the owner seemed to care more about the final product.
Located where Cafe Terracotta use to be, this is the 4th location for Daniel Scordotto. I would have to say I enjoyed his former places better, going back to when he was in the kitchen all the time, not once every two weeks on a Monday......
And that's the name of that tune.

Bf and I were in town for a baptism weekend, visiting his aunt and uncle along with his parents.  Bf's uncle raves about this place, so we all went for drinks, dinner, dessert.

The restaurant was crowded when we got there - families, big groups, smaller groups, date couples, everyone looked happy and the mood was like a celebration.  It was noisy enough to not feel self conscious if you brought your kids, but upscale enough to feel right at home if you're out for a nice dinner date.

We sat at the bar and ordered drinks as we waited for our table for 6 to be set up.  There was a delicious little array of olives set before us to munch at the bar, and we really enjoyed watching the food go by.

Our table ordered SO well, that we were able to try many things on the menu.  The antipasti plate was AMAZING - and I never say that about antipasti!  There was a little pile of smoky yet not one bit charred (how DID they do that??) velvety, olive-oil-y spinach.  A little pile of buttery roasted red peppers that were also AMA ZING.   Some very thinly delicately spiced sliced zucchini, grilled asparagus in a balsamic reduction, shaved proscuitto, a scoop of creamy soft herbed goat cheese, and several pieces of grilled bread drizzled with olive oil to spread everything on.  O  M  G you have to get this appetizer!

I almost forgot about the bread!!  Back up one sec here, they have this crusty hot bread that is flat, with not much doughy in the middle parts (sorry inner child) that they serve with softened butter and hello-garlic! pesto for dipping.  It is worth splurging your carb count for this!

We were told that the chicken meatballs and pasta were excellent, but there were so many things we wanted to try so we asked if it was possible to get a side of the meatballs so we could try it.  The waiter ended up bringing each of us a beautiful, single meatball plated with just a forkful of the thinnest fresh angel hair pasta and fresh tomato sauce to complement it.  This is not your mama's spaghetti and meatballs!

When our main courses came, we were already ooh-ing and aaaah-ing the antipasti, but we quickly shifted ahead.  EVERYTHING was great in very different ways:

The veal piccata - I've never had veal pounded so thin, cooked so tender!  I know what veal is and I agree that it is sad, but this was a delish dish beyond sadness.  The piccata sauce was so good, my bf wanted to lick the plate!

The osso bucco - complete with a tiny fork for digging for buried marrow treasure, I requested this on top of spinach (very similar to the heaven on the antipasti plate) instead of rice.  The sauce was velvety, the veal shank was perfectly braised so it was tender yet still moist.  It was heaven!

The seafood soup - a HUGE bowl of cioppino-looking soup, loaded with shrimp, scallops, fish, etc - and all the seafood was cooked perfectly, not overcooked, not even close to rubbery, but TENDER and fresh.

The seafood lasagnette - obviously fresh pasta, very thin and delicate, with seafood in between and fresh tomato sauce and creamy goodness all over!

Since bf's aunt and uncle had been there before, they knew that the best dessert needed to be ordered ahead.  So we were prepared for the Chocolate Molten Cake with spumoni!  The gooey chocolate lava flowed out of that little cake, melted the spumoni ever so slightly, and was garnished with little mixed berries.  It was TO   DIE   FOR!!!

The service was VERY friendly, even when we waited for the table, we were updated a couple of times - every 5 minutes or so - on the status of our table and if we had a preference as to which or where.  The bar guy was friendly, the waiter was excellent, and the FOOD - so obviously made with love - STOLE THE SHOW!

This Tucson restaurant made us sad that we live in LA!!

Such good food, seriously don't miss this place. I love the appetizers, the Spinach and Cheese Souffle is redic...I wish I could eat it everyday. The antipasto is so good, I could it it as my meal, it comes with asparagus, roasted red peppers, zucchini, and more. This restaurant is my favorite in Tucson.

Soufle isnt the only Vegetarian thing on the menu!!! I got an artichoke something (it reminded me of a crepe but it wasnt). And the eggplant appetizer is DELICIOUS. I would eat that as a meal infact. Vegetarians and non-veggies will LOVE this place.... trust me.

It's a nice place for a family dinner, a girl's night out, or even a date. The ambiance on the patio is nice on the summer nights, especially with the lovely jazz playing from neighboring restaurants.

People might complain that the prices are steep but Tucson, but that's why this restaurant is geared towards a crowd that appreciates and can afford it. It's ambiance and food is naturally not your lame Olive Garden.

The paca-paca fish was DELICIOUS. Creme brulee like i've never had before. Great selection of wine.

You just cant go wrong with this place. It's a taste of heaven.

Our real estate agent has taken us here twice now for lunch and it was wonderful both time.  Definably a step above what we are use to if you read some of my other reviews.  The food is great, service is great, they even allow our small dog to sit outside the fence while we eat.  Our table is next to the fence and I can slip pieces of ham to him to keep him quiet and happy.  We have only gone for lunch and have eaten outside both times.  We dressed casual and didn't feel out of place.  For diner I'm sure you would want to wear better cloths and leave the dog with a sitter.

I'm a big fan of Vivace, and I haven't had anything but good experiences there.  The food is delicious (it can be very rich though- I never get close to finishing).  Some things can be priced a little high, but you certainly get a lot for the money- the portions are very generous.  The menu is not huge (I think they only have 8-10 entrées), which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your tastes.

The interior of the restaurant is nice and simple, but hardly relaxing, as it gets loud and very crowded, particularly on the weekends.

The owner has been there each time I've gone, and several times has shown us to our table, which is a nice touch.  Some of the servers can be a little snooty, but overall you get excellent service.

Fantastic place! Dined here on a recent trip to Tucson. We were seated on the beautiful outdoor patio. To start off you are given great Italian bread with pesto. Just delicious. Items ordered in our party were: Caesar salad, seafood soup. This is an entree with scallops, shrimp, salmon, and rock shrimp in a red pepper-tomato broth, served over fettuccine" and not an actual "soup." Stuffed pork chop (center cut pork chop, breaded with spinach-cheese filling and Marsala wine sauce. Garlic potato puree). For dessert, spumoni and creme brulee. Before dinner I also ordered a bloody mary for my cocktail. I haven't had a bloody mary in years at a restaurant because they are kind of inconsistent. Each place makes them a little different. The bloody marys here were just great. Our service was top notch. We took a little tour of the inside just to see the decor and it was just lovely. I can't wait to go back here on my next trip to Tucson.

Great food - service too but it took 26 minutes to get a group bill and then still it was wrong - in their favor of course.  Calculate this into your decision when hosting 39 people like I did once... Danny - fix your point of sale system -- the best of entertaining is minutes when you get to say good bye to your group.  I lost all of that time with my clients because you kept changing how things should be broken up... not my problem. I lost 30 minutes of goodwill time with my clients on the last night @ over $100.00 each and missed a chance to say good bye with most of them due to the check out process.

It was a lovely restaurant - in a nice part of town, and for Tucson, this place was great.

However I'm going to be a city girl and a food snob and say it definitely wasn't worth the price and I didn't think it was that good.  My risotto was swimming in broth, not every well made.  And the osso buco, was just ok.

Overall...it was 2.5 stars, just ok.  And if I did go back, which I don't anticipate, I would be very careful in my selection.  Oh and their pesto......totally didn't dig it - they missed the taste completely.  But GREAT bread!

This was my first visit to Vivace. Little bit of a uppty crown which made it a little uncomfortable.  The food was great.  I got a salmon plate and have to say job well done.  I will probably be returning for another meal..

I was in town on business and came here for dinner on the recommendation of a local who said it was the best Italian around. When I got there at 5pm, my party of two was able to be seated without reservations. Service was good. Our water glasses were filled when we sat down and warm bread with butter and pesto was delivered to our table. I had the soup of the day, shrimp bisque. It was very good, but also very rich. I considered getting the beef tenderloin, but decided on pasta and ordered penne with sausage. It was also very good, but was I unable to finish it since I ate the entire bowl of bisque.

Great overall experience, service, food, atmosphere. We sat outside on the patio on a cool night and enjoyed every part of our dinner. I'd certainly go back.

We came here at the recommendation of the hotel - and could not have been more pleased.  This is a large, contemporary restaurant with a full bar.  The service and food were terrific.  My veal piccata was probably the best preparation I have ever had!

This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in T-town.  Their osso bucco's broth rich in tomatoes ...wonderful bruschetta appetizer :-)

When my husband and I want to celebrate, we go to Vivace. We've enjoyed dining there for years and are never disappointed. I always order the fish of the day with its fabulous lemon rice. Wow. My husband usually orders a pasta dish and enjoys their freshness and taste. There is not a big turn over with the wait staff, so they know what they are doing and wait the table quietly and attentively. Vivace is our favorite restaurant in town. During spring and fall, the patio is a pleasant choice for dining.
