Got Goat?
If not, you can find it here, and it's delicious ... along with everything else.
The real treat for me was the slow cooked pork, that just fell apart at a fork's touch, and had amazing flavor. The owner gives generous portions along with rice, beans, and plantains.
Oooo, and the shredded beef, juicy and smothered in some sort of red sauce deliciousness. Try it as a filling in an Arepa; a savory corn griddle cake that they slice and fill with various goodies.
I always feel happy after eating at this little hole in the wall.
The food is good. The employees are friendly. The service is slow. It really shouldn't take 25 minutes to make an arepa, their signature dish!
Plain and simple good damn food. the chicken salad Arepa is so damn good i could eat it 3 times a week. i have had the braised pork dish that was made there as well and it too was fantastic. Only gripe i have is not really a gripe because i guess when you have people making food by hand, to order it takes a little time..... well sometimes a lot of time. but if you are in no hurry to to catch a bus or the finals of american idol... give this place a shot for sure.
Viva Mi Arepa is a little gem in west roxbury. The food is fantastic and the service is great. It is a tiny little hole in the wall w/ 3 tables and counter service. We had the roasted pork Arepa, an chicken empenada and chicken capachas and everything was really tasty. The meat was well seasoned, moist and delicious. Really cheap but good food!
Its not a fancy date place but it is a great hole in the wall with great food!
Last night my work had an event catered by Viva Mi Arepa. The food was delivered right on time by a man who I thiiiink was the owner. Very nice and friendly guy.
The food itself was delicious and fresh! The chicken empanadas were really good with the herb sauce that came with them. The cheese taquitos were flaky and buttery. And the salad was fresh and really good.
My first sampling of Venezuelan and it was fantastic. It's a little hole-in-the-wall, very clean, bright and cheery. Staff is friendly and the food is super fresh and delicious. It does take a little while since they make everything to order. Highly recommended!
I so love this place....all summer long I had social functions and I had the food catered from this place. The people are great, the food is unbelieveable! I always have people asking me where it was from. Someone mentioned the pork, OMG! That is my favorite! They give you a nice amount of food for your buck even when ordering individually!
Wow. Some of the best food I've had in a while.
The roasted chicken plate with rice, black beans and plantains is top notch. The chicken itself was by far some of the tastiest I have ever had. It fell right off the bone and was seasoned perfectly. The rice and beans are good quality and the plantains are a good treat. I also got a beef empanada and that was cooked to perfection.
The staff has been eager to help every time I have been in and always have a smile. I would highly recommend this place.
Awesome, Awesome! I am from venezuela and this is as close as I got from home! great service, small and clean. I highly recommend it! empanadas are great, cachapas and arepas! I had the paella once and its awesome, but I would recommend sharing it
A great place to acquaint yourself with the arepa, a treasure of homely goodness from Venezuela.
As we place our order at the counter of this 15-seat Venezuelan storefront, I'm relieved to note we're the lone Anglos amidst the bustle of families at table and friends getting takeout. We've come for the namesake arepas ($3.50 each): fat, stuffed corncakes that are hand-formed and grilled to order, a process that takes fifteen minutes.
We try several fillings: pollo, a highly-seasoned pulled chicken; reina pepina, cool chicken salad with peas; pernl, spicy, fatty pulled pork shoulder; and domino (mashed black beans and queso blanco). Salsa Viva Mi Arepa (25 cents) is an essential condiment: parsley-tinged mayo with the thrilling sting of raw garlic.
The arepas are generously sized, the griddle creating a chewy crust that resists plastic cutlery. Sides of sweet plantains and white rice ($2 each) add further heft. This is the kind of hearty deliciousness that I moved to the city for. We take home slightly-sweet, deep-fried corn-dough empanadas of chicken, beef, and cheese ($2.25 each). For Venezuelan value and freshness, Viva trumps my own neighborhood's chic and far pricier Orinoco.
I love this place. It's one of the few places in Boston where you can sit back and enjoy some fine Venezuelan cuisine. It's definitely more of a take-out place though. Nothing fancy or anything like that...
They do catering too!
My first Venezuelan food experience! The bf and I tried the Roasted Pork, White Cheese, and Chicken Arepas. They were definitely yummy! They had a nice flavor and were a perfect hot snack for a cold blistery day. We decided that the Roasted Pork was the best bc of its subtle yet pungent flavor. The White Cheese is best when fresh off the grill bc its full of hot, cheezzy goodness.
This is a great little Venezuelan restaurant. It is small (only 3 or 4 tables) but very yummy. I found it very similar to Caribbean food (like Haitian food). The employees are nice and the food is good and cheap!
