One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
Yay for Spa Week specials :) And yay for Yelp :) After reading all these other Yelp reviews, I was a little skeptical about all the praise. But I just had a 45-minute massage by Michell for $50, and it was the BEST massage I've ever had (I've had massages at Barton Creek Resort & Spa, Lake Austin Spa Resort, Avant, Aziz, as well as some in Houston, Dallas, even China.. :P). (FYI, these Spa Week prices have been extended to Thurs 4/23)
I'm a fan of the deep, get-out-every-knot massages vs the relaxing ones. And she definitely got in there! I especially appreciated that she checked with me throughout the massage during each portion to make sure she was using enough pressure - and she actually adjusted to what I wanted :) I had told her at the beginning that my neck and upper back were sore, and she said she was going to concentrate on those areas. So I was a little nervous that the other areas were going to get shortchanged. But I was completely amazed and impressed at how thorough she was able to be in such a short amount of time! From feet to legs to glutes to lower back to arms to upper back to neck to head.. I was seriously in awe by the end of the massage. I think I've found my go-to spa for massages!! :)
Massages are awesome.... massages during Spa Week are super duper awesome because they are discounted! I randomly chose to go to Viva Day Spa after reading the Yelp reviews. It is a cute location off of 35th street, East of Mopac. I was greeted immediately, filled out some paperwork then was introduced to Ann. We talked a bit about my problem areas, type of pressure I like, and what I was looking for in the massage.
Ann really worked out my muscles. She found every little knot in my back and shoulders and used her strong ass fingers and arms to work them out. I don't consider myself a pansy, but there were times I was ready to call uncle. It was awesome! The time flew by way to fast, but I feel great today.
I would give Ann 5 stars based on the massage that I received. I'm only giving the spa 4 because I thought the 60 minute massage was a little expensive (when it is during non-Spa week prices). I will keep my eyes open for any type of specials or coupons to make it more affordable when I go back!!
This is an awesome spa to pamper yourself and for some R & R! I had gone here last year after asking my bf as a birthday gift. The staff was quite pleasant and are well trained to keep the vibe as relaxed as possible. I was greeted with some mint tea, which was extremely refreshing from last I recall the weather was sweltering, and led to my room to undress and change into spa attire.
For those who want the most for your money, this the the place. Certain times and season of the year they will have spa specials with add ons to your package which can be a $$ saver for the lengthy time that they service you for. I had the Summer Glow Spa package for a reasonable amount for 2 hours. Since my skin type is extremely dry, the Detox hydration body wrap was spectacular in aiding my dryness in which kept my skin replenished for almost 2 weeks.
The masseuse I had was a young lady that was in her late 20's. She was awesome from the moment I met her. She applied perfect pressure to my majorly knotted back and can attest that she released them all. She was also considerate of any requests that I had made.
I was very happy for what I had received and will recommend this spa to anyone wanting to be satisfied. I even left with a complimentary bag in addition to an eased smile which made my week.
After moving across the country my fabulous boyfriend surprised me by scheduling a massage for the two of us followed by a facial for moi.
The atmosphere was beautiful, tranquil and non pretentious. The massage rooms were dimly lit and separated by a curtain which we chose to keep open. We both enjoyed our massages, but I wasn't necessarily blown away. I have only had two other massages in my life so I may not be the best judge.
However, I have also only had one facial before coming here and the custom facial I received from Barbara was absolutely fabulous and did indeed blow me away. She was very down to earth and genuine, in addition to being vastly knowledgeable and professional. She gave me her assessment of my skin while also explaining each product she chose to use, why, and how it helped my skin. She also gave me pointers for what I could do at home to improve the areas I complained about.
In the end she gave me a list of the products she recommended and pointed them out to me in the spa, but didn't put any pressure on me to purchase them right then. I ended up buying a few of them on Ebay for well under retail price. I might just take the money I saved and go see her again. She was the perfect balance of personal and professional, I would definitely recommend her as well as the spa as a whole.
Many thanks to to my man for hooking me up and to Viva for a wonderful experience. Go here...you won't be disappointed.
Ladies, this is the place to go for any sort of brazilian waxing service. I searched for years in Austin to find a spa, and this is it. They offer a sugaring service alongside waxing, which is far less painful and quicker. I have been going to Heather now every 4 weeks for the past year and half and I have no complaints. She is extremely thorough, and ALMOST makes getting brazilians enjoyable. :) Her prices are very affordable, and she does everything she can to remove every last pesky hair.
I have been going to Katie B. for my Facials for over a year and my skin looks great. Her recommendations for treatments and products show how knowledgable she is about skin care. Plus she is really fun to be around and the sessions are soooo relaxing.
Gentleman, we may have gotten it wrong. Seriously.
Like any guy, I have always loved the good things in life: football, Lone Star beer , muscle cars and every Steven Seagal film; until yesterday afternoon. However, my new list reads something like this: Mazzy Star, mood lighting and a 90 minute massage from Viva Day Spa.
This was my first encounter with a day spa, a massage purchased for me ahead of time as a birthday present. I showed up as scheduled, there was already another guys "guy" in the waiting area. He looked at me and gave me the nod like, "hey, after this massage im going home to work on my F150 and watch the UT game", I hear ya bro.
Upon being led into the massage room, my therapist made me feel at home and really relaxed. She did a great job of deflating my anxiety (i still left my running shorts on though).
For the next 90 minutes I got the best massage (and first) of my life. Freaking awesome! I think the massage therapist must have really strong hands and stamina to keep that up without stopping. I agree with Susan Ks review, Jenny at Viva Day Spa is *the* best. She is really professional and you can tell she has mastered the art of massage.
Treat yourself ,my brothers, to a massage at Viva.
Then when you are finished say "I am man, hear me roar."
Viva Day Spa, let me trumpet your praise!!!
I got a Day Spa treatment with my sweetie as a Christmas present. I was looking forward to the sauna part of the treatment, but didn't expect much from any of the rest of the package. Jessica was my therapist, who made me feel right at home.
We did the sauna first, and it was actually kind of a let down for me. I like steam... and I like it hot. This was the dry infrared type sauna, which caused me one bead of sweat in the 20 minutes we were in.
But the massage... Jessica was first class. She found the knot between my shoulder blades and chased it until it was gone. I think I may have to look into making this a regular thing!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE Viva Day Spa! I've been there twice--both times to indulge in the gift packages given to me by my wonderful boyfriend. I WISH I remembered the name of the masseuse who did my last massage...but she was great. Nice to talk to, excellent massage skills, and the hot towel treatment--yowza! The atmosphere is very calm and soothing, but not overly pretentious (like a couple of other day spas I've been to). A very Austin-ish place for those looking to escape for a day and be pampered.
Here's my gift package experience, in a nutshell (Hey, how did I get into this big nutshell?):
My gift package (given to me as a Christmas Present) was the "Holiday Harmony" Package. (Another cool tidbit--they have different packages for every season, so there's definitely some variety.)
I spent 30 minutes in the sauna with my orange water and my stack of magazines, and finished that off with a cool mint towel. (Mmm, sounds great, right?) Before we began my massage, my muscles were loosed up with warm, damp towels pressed into the muscles, and then 60 minutes of massage heaven. Next, the dry brush exfoliation (the brush is one of your free gifts when you leave), and then then body wrap where you're wrapped up like a soft taco to get all the toxins out. My package also contained cucumbers on the eyes and a soothing scalp rub, and tea at the end to wrap up. In addition, my gift bag contained a bottle of body splash in a flavor I'd never smelled before. (Pretty good!)
All in all, a relaxing, invigorating experience in a spa that I felt catered to me. If you're at a loss for a gift for your main squeeze, your answer is right here!
My only experience w/ Viva Day Spa was a bday gift certificate from my friend, so we went in to get a shiatsu massage at Viva.
The place is small yet nice and well put together and clean. The staff was very professional and the room was private, quiet, and peaceful (which is what I like). My masseuse did an excellent job and I had one of the best massages ever, however, she is no longer there anymore (boo-hoo). I also got a $10 off coupon in the mail which comes in handy as I will go back to Viva Day Spa.
I haven't tried other massage places (Envy, Massage School), but I was very happy with my massage at Viva and I think you will be too, so give them a shot!
I am consistently pleased with the massages I get here. The massage therapists are relaxing and attentive. I've had massages from four different therapists and all have rated at or above 8/10 in my mental massage rating guide (most massage therapists average 6/10 in Elle's mental massage ratings). The atmosphere of the spa is clean and nurturing, but really what you would expect from a spa. The front staff is always nice.
Aside from the great massages, I give them 5 stars for their convenience. I usually decide I need a massage within 4 hours of desired appointment and Viva has almost always been able to accommodate me.
The massages are $85, which is on par with most upscale spas in Austin. However, there ARE cheaper options, if cost is the only factor you consider. Overall, I think Viva is great.
This place is way overpriced for the service you get. I received a V-day package here consisting of a massage and body wraps, but didn't feel at all pampered or refreshed afterwards (Caramel performed my package). To be honest, I feel like their wraps are all fluff.
Viva also hawks add-ons online, such as a dry body brush treatment, which is basically someone grazing a giant toothbrush across your body. Worth $10? I don't think so.
I also balk at all of their price points. It's hard to relax on the massage table when you feel like the service you just paid for might cause you to bounce some checks. I can imagine them justifying their prices by the addition of small things like complimentary hot chocolate (which costs pennies), or them sending you home with chocolate squares. In my opinion, those small material things don't add anything to the experience.
My husband and I agree they give the best massages ever! He also enjoys the facials, but I have sensitive skin and found my esthetician elsewhere. I did get sugaring once, and was woefully unprepared for the pain of the Brazilian. Ladies, if this is your first drink first and get someone else to drive! Great staff! Whenever my mom comes to visit she insists on going to viva!
Atmosphere is ok but not anything I would call elaborate or unique. The facility is clean and the employees are professional. The massage is good.
I had a facial here and loved it! It has a really cozy feel and the staff is completely unpretentious and wonderful. It was expensive but completely worth it; I felt comfortable and my skin looked great! I would try this place at least once.
I've gone to Viva for massages only but oh, what a massage. Jenny is *the* best. I don't care if you get your massages from someone that you think is really good, you still haven't had a massage from Jenny. It's like she's got a million little fingers and then she changes it up to just a few fingers of steel. Amazing. Plus, their new space is really nice with a fantastic relaxation room that I want to recreate in my house.
This place ROCKS!!!! I give it my absolute highest rating!!! It was perfection from the moment we walked in and were ushered into a circle of serenity. The room they staged us in was a circle and we could all see and talk to each other! It was probably the most perfect party design ever! They also let us set up our own food and drink, and anticipated our every need. I have to add on a side note that we had a 9th member of our party who showed up at the last minute, and they were able to slot her into her treatment of choice with a flick of their magic wand!
After letting our party settle in our therapist's came out in staggered time's and treated us all like princesses! They also let us talk as much as we wanted while maintaining a spa environment. Each girl had a story about how her therapist added a special touch to their treatments, and when they came out it seemed like they had made a new friend. The little touches they provided such as setting up some private mother/daughter time at the deluxe pedicure station (fueled by some delicious dark choc late!) and sending everyone home with goodie bag's made this an experience we will never forget.
I don't remember the name of my therapist but she was wonderful. She thoroughly explained everything that was going to happen, and followed through. If I lived in Austin, I would make this place a ritual. In the meantime I will just have to settle for my visits to Austin! My friends that live there are definitely going back for some more pampering!! If your looking for a spa run don't walk, you will float out a new person.

I had a great experience here! Got a bikini wax (well sugar really) from Barbara who did a great, low pain job. Very professional and a nice location. A little pushy on the sell (Skinceuticals, Bumble & Bumble), but it wasn't too hard to resist ($85 for C-serum, yeah right!).
I absolutely love the Viva Day Spa. I've had a number of massages and facials there and have not had a bad one yet. The atmosphere is very relaxing & comfortable and all the employees have a truly good vibe and know what they are doing. I highly recommend this place as I believe it is the best day spa in Austin.
