I took an intro series last year right before I got married in Nov. 2010.
I loved it! I have taken pilates numerous times and even considered teaching it since I teach Zumba and lift classes, but my experience was mainly on the mat.
If you have never taken a pilates class before with the reformer, it is amazing! You can really feel the stretches and your core gets going! The instructors were informative and very attentive. Quick to let you know if you were doing something wrong, but in a nurturing way. Classes are small and rooms are clean. Only thing is pilates gets pricey after a while, if I wasn't doing crossfit (for fun) and didn't devote my time to teaching Zumba, I would totally do this again. -

I cancelled my account in August. It is now December and they keep charging my credit card every month!

Review from Jamie Y.
I am here just about everyday and I am surprised it took me this long to write a review!
First, I really enjoy pilates as it melds breathwork with body awareness with movement. Vitality Pilates helps me foster my growth in my practice.
The location is very convenient (the Phinney Ridge location), located across from Ken Market. The instructors are wonderful, taking in consideration of your abilities and limitations. I have spoken to a few of the front desk staff, and find not all of them are friendly, which is kind of disappointing since everyone else is. Yet, this observation does not deter me in giving a rating of 5 stars.
At this location, there are two rooms with reformers. The top room has reformers that can be converted into the cadillacs. I love that we can crack the door to let fresh air in and lights can dim to create a soothing environment.
All the instructors are wonderful, truly, ALL of them. The classes offered allow someone experienced to gain a well balanced routine. If you seek cardio, I highly recommend the jump-board series. If want to master connecting with each fiber with movement, hop into one of the intro classes. If you bore of routine, attend one of the multi-level classes. Now, they are offering a flow class that requires you to memorize a routine that is very challenging and true to the Pilates method.
Vitality Pilates is also headquarters to a premiere instructor certification. I did not realize how prominent this company was until I started meeting folks who have moved here for the year to train to become an instructor.
If you are interested in learning the traditional Pilates method, this is the place to go! -

really really amazing! I loved my time here! but IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE! I can be a member at both super sport 24hr fitness and the climbing gym. or hot yoga. or whatever. for the price of this. and I do still feel like I need to be doing some cardio or something on top of pilates throughout the week...
anyway it was a great experience! Danielle and SaraJo were awesome but my favorite was Jessica! she was energetic, funny and had really warm hands. I appreciate the frequent corrections she made because dang, if I am paying that much I really better be doing it right. and when I worked with her I could feel a huge difference! -

After being a member of a gym for years, I found that I am much motivated to go regularly when I am taking a class. But I am also terribly uncoordinated and most classes take me back to grade school where I was always the last one picked for teams.
My gym started offering Pilates reformer classes so I joined a series and after just two weeks, I could feel the difference. Its great low-impact, all over strength training. My gym was only offering classes once a week though and I wanted more. I was so happy to discover Vitality right in my neighborhood. Since joining, I've made it a regular practice and am going up to 4 times a week when I can. The price seems high compared to a gym, but it is comparable to other reformer classes, and I feel like I get great value out the money I've spent.
Vitality teaches on the reformer machines and classes are limited to 8 people. Which makes the whole experience much more personalized than taking a yoga class packed with 30 or more people.
All of the instructors are amazing. They each can describe the multitude of moves in a way that is easy to comprehend for newbies but also not tedious for those that have been there a while. They also keep tabs on everyones sore spots and injuries and offer individualized variations. They each are passionate about pilates and have a gazillion different exercises so that it never gets boring. They are all friendly and welcoming too.
They offer classes in the early morning and into the evening making it convenient to get to before or after work. You can sign up for the classes online. Some classes are hard to get into, but the staff has responded by offering more classes at popular times. I frequently use the wait list feature, and Ive gotten into the desired class the majority of the time. You do get charged if you miss a class without canceling but thats just the final straw to keep up your motivation.
Im so glad that Vitality has made a home on Phinney Ridge! -

My time spent at Vitality Pilates has been life changing.
I started out in an Intro series that started last November and have been hooked ever since! The instructors are amazing. I learn something new every time I take a class and that is what inspires me.
My body has changed and I have recovered from a running injury thanks to my practice and PT (Michele B is the best physical therapist in Seattle) at Vitality.
Everyone I have met/spoken to/worked with at both the Phinney Ridge and Mount Baker locations have been kind, warm and knowledgeable.
I highly recommend Vitality Pilates for a great challenge and a total body work out. Tip: take an early morning (6 or 7 am) class. You'll find that there is really no better way to start the day! -

This is an EXPENSIVE pilates studio where I took the intro reforma classes. The teachers were good-you never seem to have the same one and the skill level of the classes vary greatly per teacher. I am giving this a one star because while I enjoy the classes, the customer service for the price that you pay makes it not worth the money. These are some things I learned. 1) They did not honor the price quoted on their website for for privates until I fought for it 2) You need to go into the live class schedule to see what classes are actually offered. The information on the handouts and on the front page of their website is incorrect. They don't offer that many classes 3)Changing classes proved next to impossible. They say that after the first week, it is easy to change but I was unable to change any classes as they were all full. For example, switching a weekday class for a weekend class did not happen. 4) The people who answer the phone simply don't care or take no extra effort to help you. They actaully seem a little confused when asked alot of questions. It seems like the whole purpose of this studio is to take your money as a new customer. Customer retention is not a focus. The bright side is that the actual classes are good (although each instructor seems totally different). This is a good choice for those who can commit to twice a week on specific days and never have to change or interact with the front desk people.

I'm trying not to review pilates, generally, but instead review Vitality.
It's a tiny little place but cute and cozy (even though the art on display last Fall when I took the Intro series of classes was some weird egg-and-found-object-in-concrete business and it creeped me out.)
The teachers were good though, they seemed to genuinely love pilates, and everything in the studio was clean.
The location is awesome. It's two blocks from my house so the lack of parking was not an issue for me. The PRICES are the issue. As I remember it, the Intro series was almost $300 for 8 weeks (2 classes per week.) At $150 per month, I'd rather get a yoga pass AND join a gym.
I would recommend Vitality to a friend wanting to try pilates though. -

Vitality Pilates has everything I was looking for in a pilates studio: small class sizes, patient instructors who challenge you to keep your technique throughout each pose (and they aren't intimidating), friendly management that doesn't push customers to "buy now", easy parking, and clean facilities. I have attended Vitality in Phinney Ridge twice a week for the last two months and have noticed a large difference in my posture, core strength, and running ability. Mari and Tiffany are wonderful instructors who really go the extra mile for their clients. Highly recommended!
