Come for the burger, stay for the help.

We hosted an event here and got a bunch of people to come out. It went well. The staff was pretty responsive and the bartenders (Jill that night, Manny on previous nights) are pretty great people.

One thing is for sure, you aren't going to find a nicer place within the boundaries of Kensington. No draughts (yet?) but a decent bottle selecton. The food that I've had has been a cut above, but there's still a lot of the menu to try.

If you live in Kensington, there's absolutely no reason NOT to at least try this place.

My bf and I came here having very low expectations of this place. but we decided to give it a try since we had a gift certificate from http://restaurant.com. We first got the crispy garlic bread, wow so good! it def has to be the most freshest and tastiest bread or maybe even "food to eat before you order" food ever! Then we got the soup of the day which i think was the shrimp soup, very good soup - i like my soup to be creamy but not too creamy - this hit the spot, very tasty soup  plus its so cheap only 5 the dollars!!!! Next, we got the mussels with white sauce with , also very good! Next we each got a salad i got the Mesclun salad - good but not outta the world and my bf got the  romaine salad - it was okay. Than for dessert we got the flan pudding.. sooo good!!! Not only had our food been good but the waiter was supper friendly and nice! They should have more people like him working in food places!! DEF GOING BACK =)

So after a ling morning of viewing apartments I felt like I was really falling in love with kensington. Visions is a total surprise! Brunch people were pretty much gone since it was 3pm...but the manager I don't remember his name but he totally accommodated us...the food was what I call perfect brunch food.. The bloody Mary was strong too which doesn't hurt...over all no complaints... At all! Yay visions... I wouldn't mind going back for dinner apparently gets really packed and fun!

Personally, I much prefer 773 across the street and down half a block (just past Georges Resturant).  The sign only lights up to say "__ub 7__)  and thats all the indication I need for a good dive.

Visions is just a little to hip for my liking.  The drinks are not the watered down variety often at "hip" dives, but I still just can't see past the shiny silver slick outside.

Whoa.  Slow Down.  Don't let the tacky neon sign fool you.  You know what they say about assume....

Visions is NOT a strip club.

It's my neighborhood dive, although it needs to work on it's grittiness in order to be more to my liking.  Right now it's polished, has a perfect pool table, "dance floor" and "DJ booth" (I have yet to see this in action), and friendly , attentive, bartenders.  Great happy hour and Brandi music videos  on the TV!! (Thus proving that Ditmas Parkers KNOW how to party.)

A Vision of Cortelyou

Dan Shapiro

Alerted to a Friends and Family night at Visions, 752 Coney Island Avenue on Friday night and were pleasantly surprised. I remember 752 a dark and dirty bar you tried not to remember, because you went into it inorder to forget. But today's Visions is a bright and sometimes loud café that's is full of laughter and good times. The décor while unimpressive is nevertheless pleasant and even inviting.
The owner, Marack, is attentive and eager to please. And the service although not professional was very good. For example, someone dropped a fork and without being told our waiter was there promptly with fork in hand. We started with a Romaine salad, fresh, large and nicely topped with grated Parmesan cheese. For an appetizer we had the Mozzarella in Corozza, a grilled white bread sandwich of Mozzarella, topped with a cream of tomato sauce, o.k., but a zestier sauce might have helped. A rather plebian, but fresh lightly breaded fillet of sole was made a little special by a sweet glaze and a nice mesclun avocado salad. The star of the night was the fettuccini scampi with a wonderful strong but not overpowering sauce of garlic, wild mushrooms and olive oil, worth the trip. A nice Crème Brule finished the dinner nicely. Cost $ 60 with a beer and tip (there was an approximately $ 10 discount). The only downer, Marack needs a better selection of beers, there is no draft beer and Brooklyn Beer does not do it for me.
The menu at Visions is limited, one chicken, one pork dish, one steak, and a few fish dishes along with the usual wraps and burgers. As they say---The cook doesn't do much, but what he does do, he does very well. Come hungry as the portions are large and expect to meet friends.
As we walked home, across Cortelyou we noticed is that we now had was a real choice of restaurants and places to go--- Indeed a good Vision of Cortelyou.

Food was OK. Pretty good prices. Not as nice as the Farm down the street. The staff was friendly, although the waitress seemed over worked. The manager was really attentive as well. I'd go there again.

Because we believe in sharing the wealth in the neighborhood, we decided to drop by this spot after an evening at Sycamore on Cortelyou. We had every intention of simply having a night-cap, but were surprised that this place is now a full restaurant bar. It's clean, comfortable and chock full of yummy menu items. The staff is quite attentive and friendly and they have all the little extras that make a restaurant experience pleasant. Now, if they can get to the point of where they tone the lights down a bit at night and switch up the music (Frank Sinatra on a Fri/Sat late night is not cool), this place should lure some of neighborhood folks who enjoy a great selection of spirits and those who might want to catch a game one. One other request: They should get slightly bigger televisions

My friend and I had an hour to waste before The Farm on Adderly (right across the street) opened and it was freezing outside. We were kind of nervous, two women alone, walking into Visions, which looks sooooo shady, with dark windows, a suspect neon sign and a note telling everyone in doo rags and long t-shirts that they're not welcome. But as soon as we opened the door, we burst out laughing --this place is great! Sofas, potted plants, a pool table, super clean, VH1 Soul videos playing on the flat screens, cheap good drinks and the nicest bartender and regulars. It's my new favorite bar.
