I got to stay a few nights here last week and was very happy with the service i received. The Visalia Marriott is a category 4 Marriott and has amazing staff working there. Its always great when you stay at a Marriott and they make you feel like your at home.

they have a great bar downstairs in the lobby area, and the food there was amazing as well... and if you have status with Marriott, you will be happy to know that this hotel has a concierge level on the 8th floor offering breakfast, snacks, beverages, and alcohol.

Service has become spotty.

45 minutes to bring the wrong room service menu up?  And over an hour before getting a response from the room service staff?  Unacceptable and frustrating.  Granted, my meal was on the house after I called to cancel it, but the fries were cold, and for lack of a spoon, soup was eaten with a fork.  Housekeeping isn't as tidy as they used to be either.

If the hotel downsized on headcount, it seems that they're either short on staff, or the existing staff needs to pick it up.  Still, it's gotta be one of the better hotels in the area.

I stayed here for a few nights recently. The hotel is fairly new; the beds are very comfortable; the rooms are clean; the staff is friendly, though not universally quick-witted.

However.

This part of the state gets a lot of conferences. The weekend I was there, the Marriott was hosting a Daughters of Job conference. I was on a floor with dozens of shrieking, unchaperoned, monstrously behaved teen and pre-teen girls. On the first night, they woke me repeatedly, and the Marriott staff eventually moved me to what they called an "adult" floor. Gee, thanks.

The hotel staff did its best to take care of me in the midst of teen-religious-nutjob chaos, but staying here was a nightmare. Hotels have a choice about accepting conferences like this, which is why I fault the Marriott here as much as the wilding Daughters (and their nowhere-to-be-found Mothers).

If you ever want to know what it feels like to experience true warm hospitality my suggestion is to spend some time at this Marriott.

Upon check in after a long drive we were welcomed by the friendly doorman and sincere smiles from the two girls behind the reservation desk. Yordi and Ariel engaged us with the kind of sincere appreciation for showing up as you would feel if you were visiting your loving family.

We also were honored with the opportunity to stay in a beautiful suite as the previous reviewer.

We travel all over the state for business and use various hotel chains but we have now decided that our Marriott Rewards points and status will be our future priority.

Forget the nasty Doubltree we stayed at in Sacramento the previous night, this beautiful friendly home away from home makes it ALLLL better :-).

Thank you Ariel and Yordi for treating us with respect and dignity and reminding us of the true sincere caring the central valley unfailingly offers.

Our check-in was quick, easy and pleasant.  Yordi E., the hotel manager, was expecting us and had prepared a very big surprise.  Stepping out from behind the counter she said "We are upgrading you to the Presidential Suite!"  She thanked me for being a loyal Marriott Rewards customer and with a warm handshake provided both our room keys and a quick orientation to the available services (restaurant, bar and spa).  With a big smile I thanked her and we stepped over to the elevator riding up to the top floor.

The President Suite's double doors open into a 500 sq. ft. space arranged into separate living and dining areas.  The far wall is filled with double balcony doors that open up the space and provide easterly views towards the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Sequoia National Park.  Left of the entry is a bar service counter with a guest half-bath to the right.  My uploaded pictures show the room, furniture and views.

The second room, 300 sq. ft., contains the bedroom area, a third balcony and access to the master bath.  The entire suite is beautifully furnished with hardwood floors and simple elegant decorations.

Along with many others in the United States and around the world we celebrated the historic election on November 4th.   Our Presidential Suite upgrade offered a special opportunity for a second celebration.  I called room service and ordered Moet & Chandon White Star Champagne along with a cheese tray.  It arrived quickly and we lifted our glasses with a prayer of celebration and thanks for our new young President elect, his staff and his family.  As part of the three million Obama volunteers we are truly grateful and will remain engaged to do our part.

The Presidential Suite accommodations offered a unique opportunity for my wife and I to relax.  It has two big screen TVs and very comfortable seating.  So we picked a movie to watch, Hamlet 2, and settled in to enjoy the champagne and cheese.  The movie was 3 stars out of 5, the White Star champagne 5 of 5 and the cheese tray, excellent.

Around 6pm we heard church chimes and stepped out onto the balcony.  The First Presbyterian Church, two blocks away from our downtown location, was playing a lovely and familiar hymn.  We stood on the balcony, enjoyed the view and let the chimes lift our Sunday evening spirits.

The Visalia Marriott Hotel sits near the middle of the San Joaquin Valley, California's agricultural heart, 190 miles north of LA and 230 miles southeast of San Francisco.  Visalia is a city of about 120,000 people with a metropolitan population of over 400,000.

Coming in from the balcony I ordered sandwiches and two desserts for us to sample.  My choice was the Marriott burger and my wife had the "Down Town" club.  Both came with fries.  The desserts were "Sweet Dream" cheesecake and the "Orange Chocolate Bourbon" cake.  It was all delicious and so worth the price.

Our bath was divided into three separate areas, vanity, toilet and bathing  area which contained a glass enclosed shower and a separate deep oval tub spa.  Aromatherapy products from Bath and Body Works were generously provided throughout the master bath and separate guest restroom.

The elegant king bed and bedding was simply spectacular.  We enjoyed an especially luxurious and restful night.  We recommend you find time to visit the Visalia Marriott, asked for the Presidential Suite and enjoy a very relaxing experience.

First stop on my week-long tour of produce harvesting and processing plants was the Visalia Marriott. To be honest, I had very low expectations because Visalia is not exactly a hot urban area, but found the Visalia Marriott to be perfectly suitable for my needs. Our double room had an unfortunate view of the roof but at least it had updated linens and plenty of pillows. I really do prefer the comforters that Marriott hotels seem to be using these days over the nasty and suspect bedspreads of days past.

Breakfast was provided for our group and went beyond the usual continental spread. I stuck to the fresh fruit as I'm not much of an eater at 6am. The fitness room had more Precor cardio machines (some with personal TV monitors) than expected plus free weights, a water cooler, a few stretching mats, and 1 budget multi-weight unit that didn't work all that well. Towels were provided in the fitness room.

The Visalia Marriott is also conveniently located a few blocks from the "main" strip (as in small town style) and convention center. My major complaint is that guests staying in the hotel are only allowed to use the stairs in case of a fire, which led to some subtle mockery from people in the elevator when I only needed to go up or down one floor to the lobby. 3.5 stars.
