The first time I walked aboard the Virgin America I thought i stepped into the set of Soul Plane.

Seriously? Seductive mood lighting? I knew I was in for a great ride after I found out that the plane was equipped for a fabulous entertainment system for EVERY PERSON IN THE PLANE. I was so excited I decided to watch t.v. shows and chatted with people in the plane instead of sleeping as I normally do during 4+ hour rides. I ordered snacks (which were overpriced..but not surprised) through their computer system and listened to music and played games as well. This plane just kept on getting better and better!

The only downfall is that their chairs are not as comfortable as Southwest Airlines. I am just not feelin their built in pillows.

But ending on a good note..it was a smooth ride and a pleasant experience. Good job Virgin!

*ding* You are now free to fly around the country-- and Yes I will, just not on Southworst Airlines anymore. I want to thank Southworst for some low fares, major headaches, freaky experiences, and poor service. But, I am movin' on....

Right on over to Virgin America.

Virgin America is quite possibly the most refreshing commercial carrier I have ever experienced for domestic travel. A relatively new airline, these guy's focus on what everyone else is doing wrong and they do the exact opposite.

Following a no hassle check-in, I made my way down to the gate. After a few beers at the bar, they called for the boarding of my flight. Friendly attendants verify your ticket and send you on down the jet way. And as you approach the airliner, you have no idea what awaits you....

1. friendly flight attendants greet you on board with a smile and a "Welcome!"

2. When I make my customary right turn( I never turn to the left upon entering a plane), it looks as if you have just entered one of the lounges of a hip new hotel-- purple and reddish mood lighting(would have been better had I been stoned) accompanied with some light trance music.

3. Assigned seating means one thing- organization. You see, I am not up for a game of musical chairs(like you encounter on Southworst) at the age of 32. I gave that up back in the 4th grade. Instead, you simply find your seat, sit down, and life is good.

4. Funny safety video is pretty good(as mentioned earlier, would have been better if I were stoned).

5. Red is their in-flight service and entertainment system. Order drinks and movies for a small fee. Watch regular Dish Network television for free. You can even chat with other people on your flight with a chair to chair instant messaging feature(though, I found this last feature to be a little creepy).

So all in all, check out their website. Being that they are a newer airline, they don't fly everywhere that Southworst does but with your support, one day we may all be removed from that "Hell" called flying Southworst. If they fly to the destination you had in mind, take them. I promise you will not be disappointed....

Virgin America rivals Cathay Pacific for my pick as the best airline.  They do however have completely different vibes; whereas Cathay Pacific is warm and dignified without being stuffy, Virgin is fun and a little sexy.

What's not to love about it?  The Prince Purple Rain plexiglass and vinyl decor, the downtempo ambient music playing in the background, adjustable headrests, friendly flight attendants, hilarious safety video, easy check-in but best of all Red.  Red is the interactive screen at every seat where you can make your own playlist, play a radio station, watch TV or movies, play games, order food, and even holla at your seatmates.  The girl next to me and I were giggling over the guys who were hitting on her via the seat-to-seat chat and my friend and I were contemplating chatting with the rockstar looking guy in first class.

There's something about Virgin, maybe they pump pheromones in the air, but they make flying fun and they're definitely bringing sexy back.  Sure it might be a little more expensive than other airlines but the quality of the experience is more than worth it.

Just to preface this review, I had one of the WORST flights of my life on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Mumbai, India to London, Heathrow to JFK earlier this year.  I was NOT impressed by Virgin Atlantic, so I had low expectations for my recent Virgin America flight from San Diego to San Francisco.

I walked down the boarding bridge and was welcomed by the flight attendant at the door of the plane.  Chic purple and pink lighting illuminated the hip interior.  Smoked plexiglass surrounds the first class seats...we can't have the trash mixing with the first class people can we?  A slow, moody downtempo beat was playing over the sound system.  I was feeling like I should have been paying a cover charge to get in.

I arrived at my seat in economy class and was greeted by really cool looking seats in white plastic and black 'pleather.'  I sat down and was surprised by the in-flight entertainment system called VA-RED, where you could play games, chat with other people on the plane, watch movies or TV and order snacks using your touch screen.  I even saw that they offered in-flight WiFi, for a reasonable fee, I'm sure...:)

The crew were awesome, taking a page from Southwest, they were funny, helpful and enthusiastic.  Your beverage service is free, you know, sodas, juices and waters, but you have to pay for everything else.  Including snacks.

All in all, Virgin America is the BEST way to travel from San Diego to San Francisco.  Period.  It's a quick hour and ten that will save you tons of time.  Virgin America helped me move past my Virgin Atlantic issues.  I feel like a new man.

$49 from San Diego to San Francisco- yes, please! LOVE THAT!

The interactive screens for each seat were cool. You can play video games and IM other passengers within chat rooms. Cray Cray!

The inside of the plane was like some lounge in the Gaslamp. Mood lighting is fun in planes, why not!?

Speaking of downtown clubs... The stewardess totally belonged in one!

She was SUPER ditzy- and I love my flight attendants real ditzy... just makes the entire experience complete.  It's like she belonged at Stingaree with her caked-on Mac make-up and deer-in-headlights look of complete confusion. She had to have been hung over. Hey, I don't hate, I participate.

Virgin Air, yes. Virgin Stewardess, no.

Smooth, on-time flight with NO checked baggage charge.

I give you an A+ Virgin Air.

One of these things is not like the other....

So here I am, sitting in the boring beige walled and wildly unimnpressive SD airport waiting for my delayed Virgin America flight. I am being forced to listen to M.I.A.'s 'Paper Planes' thanks to the chick next to me and surrounded by chicks in cork-healed shoes, denim mini shirts, peroxide blondes and some passed out dude in a baby blue pop up collared shirt snoring. Awwhh yes, the good life.

Thanks to a fellow co-worker and friends, plus some tequila from 1942, I am...as the natives say...smashed.

Gate 25. They've called me up to verify my seating position 2x now and yes, it really is me. All I can think about is getting home and curling up in a prenatal ball and passing the eff out because I am completely pooped and in need of some comfort.

Maybe this is why I stopped drinking tequila? Virgin America SD please take me home.

Virgin America you rock my world, with your cool lighting, great service, low prices and personal video screens with games, TV and movies.  I love ordering food through the screen and that fact that unlike any other Airline that fly's out of San Diego you like your customers and want them to come back.

Today I flew you for the second time on a business trip and it was sublime. It wasn't my first time, but you were oh so gentle.....

Popped my Virgin cherry this past July when I flew up with the BF to San Fran for my 24th.

I really like that I could pay a coach-level price for what is typically considered a "first class" atmosphere on most other airlines. Leather seats, my own personal game/tv/radio/IM/food console, legroom. And fuckin mood lighting? Are you serious? Am I in Stingaree? It was seriously like riding in a limo with wings.

However, the things that I like about Virgin are the same things that scare me. For instance, with Southwest, you know nobody is going to hijack that plane - there are people on those planes going to Oakland for chrisakes! Those are not people you mess with. You can't even get food on a Southwest flight, and they practically swoop up and throw out your complimentary drink before the ice even has a chance to melt. Like a terrorist wants to get his jollies on that shit. But Virgin...different story. Now the terrorists can ride comfortably AND on the cheap.

So as much as I love you Virgin because you cater to my laziness and ADD (ordering food at my seat while IMing my BF who's sitting next to me AND playing a game of Asteroid? seriously?), the prospect of eventually being hijacked on my way to SFO or Vegas may keep me away for ever. I just don't know if I'll ever be able to give up that mood lighting....

I don't like discount airlines, I even had a bad experience on Jet Blue, and don't get me started on Southwest.

Virgin rocked, flew them RT from DC to SFO and it was great, both ways. I'd definitely do it again

If you need to fly to Vegas, LA, SF, Seattle, NY or DC, you need to fly Virgin America. They gave me, hands down, the best experience I've ever had with an airline.

If you're going the economy route, only Southwest comes close to matching their rates, and Virgin offers a far superior flight in terms of accommodations, amenities and flat-out style. Their seats are plush and comfortable and their in-flight entertainment system, "Red", offers everything from movies and music to chatting with fellow passengers with a handy keyboard remote to ordering food & drinks, all from the same simple screen. The staff were very friendly. I tried to order a cocktail from the menu but kept getting errors. So they floated me my drink. Nice.

The real treat is flying first class. On top of the stellar service, you get:

- Complimentary in-flight meal
- larger beverages
- the option to check in two bags free of charge instead of one
- larger, reclining seats

To close, If you're looking to fly in style & comfort, you gotta go with Virgin.

BONUS! Check out their safety video: http://youtube.com/wat...

I like this airline.  It's definitely the first place that I check for fares for my frequent trips to SF.  Virgin America reminds of me of an updated, fresher Jet Blue.

The fares are slightly more expensive than Southwest, but at least you get an assigned seat.  The entertainment system (live TV, decent music selection, and the ability to text message cute girls if you know their seat assignment).

The mood lighting is kind of gimmicky, but I guess if it chills some people out, more power to 'em.  I've never had a BAD experience on this airline... yet.

The flight attendants are generally young and cute.  That's a plus to NOT have to deal with cranky, just back from retirement flight attendants (Delta Airlines).

I won't give 5 stars to an airline because I think all airlines are at least a little bit inherently evil.

First and foremost, I think someone from the '80s designed the inside of this plane with tributes to the 70's disco and 60's mod look. I thought I entered a night club instead of a small plane bound for SFO.

Like the other reviewer, VA's prices were cheaper.  I was headed for San Francisco on a budget so I was minimizing where it didn't matter what shape the plane was (its only a 1 1/2 hr flight) as long as it can get me there. At first the price for the tickets was $100 to go and $69 back at the times I wanted.  The cheapest price was to leave at 6:30 am.  I don't think I needed to be in SF at 8 am on a Sat morning with luggage in tow since I probably could have not checked in.  So I didnt book until the last minute and caught a break the $100 price to SFO went down to $84 (yipee!).

The great thing about VA is the personal screen tvs.  For a short trip, its not worth watching a movie but you can play games, watch videos or several channels from cable without commercials.  Service is fine for what its worth, drink with your trip everything else alcohol or snacks is for sale.  I enjoyed the trip both ways and had no problem checking in or with the wait or the plane.

For its money's worth, Welcome VA, I will use you more often for my trips since you are better than Southwest.  About the decor.....maybe sticking to one them is best.  Those lights made it look like a disco when you board.

By the way one of the reviewers  posted the safety video they play : its much more fun than the std flight attendant demo. Animation Rocks!

San Diego to San Francisco for under $100 is already a good deal, but after experiencing the whole Virgin America flight for the first time, I might possibly will never return to Southwest Airlines. Right as you board, the mood is set with dim lights and blue tint on the ceilings. I think the seats have a little more leg room, but the head rest is comfortable and the seats are nice too.

The most innovative feature of the flight is the Red platform on the video screens of all seats. It let's you watch music videos, pay to watch movies, watch free TV programs (via live satellite), play games, and chat with other passengers. I got to catch up with the NBA playoffs live with minimal lag, and also my favorite shows. Definitely worth the price. I didn't even get to try playing video games, but I saw someone playing Doom and a bunch of old arcade games using the remote. I guess the chat feature is for talking to people you know or trying to get to know that cute guy/girl that happens to catch your eye on the flight. Another thing that you could do is order food/drinks using Red. Just swipe your credit card either on the remote or the screen itself. Unfortunately, food and snacks costs money, but soda and water are free.

The flight went by so fast that I was sad to leave the experience. Even the airplane attendants were young and attractive. Unlike those old, wrinkly women you find on the Southwest flights, you actually want to look at them. My only complaint on the flight was that the cabin temperature was too warm. But in the meanwhile, I am looking forward to flying back with VA and also twice more for Memorial day weekend in late May.

Man I agree with everyone else, I love it!

I paid 86.00 for my flight to SD to SFO round trip mang.

I arrived at the SD airport at 6 a.m. went over to VA check in, I am looking around to see if I was at the right line. I stand there on the red carpet, asking the staff where is everyone? Am I the only one on this flight?! They said we're fast and we don't let our passengers wait in line.  They had a funky layout, design, and stood out from the rest. The other airlines on either side, their line was out the door.  Ha, oh well I still had to wait in the security line, but it wasn't bad.

They had young staff members with cute uniforms, friendly, invidual screen for entertainment, movies, music, news, gps etc. Good for when you forget your ipod! Leather seats with a head rest, leg space, and an entertaining safety video (not boring!).

My departing and returning flights landed before the original time and waiting for my baggage was quick and easy. No waiting.

I put them number 2 on my list after Jet Blue. =)

Hopefully they remain the cheapest airline and expand to more locations too.

I have flown only twice from SFO To SAN and they have been awesome both ways.
Courteous staff , nice planes with mood lighting .
They also bumped me to an earlier flight .
Entertainment system ( Red in-flight entertainment) tries to showcase the next gen of flight consoles but lacks robustness. I had a freeze playing DOOM ( DOS game) , when the steward had to go and reset the console.

Seat to seat chat is awesome if you need to communicate with someone in another seat .

Google maps is a nice feature , although I felt a lag in map updation.
TV is ok with limited channels but I am not complaining .
I didnt not venture into movies and other music videos.

All in all the best flying experience ( economy) i ve had so far .

As I walked toward the purple-lit interior of my Virgin America plane the first thing I thought about was that Movie Soul Plane. I was kind of hoping this plane was going to bounce on hydraulics and start bumping some hip-hop.

Anyway, I took a flight to SD from SF. When I got situated in my seat, they had some interesting trance-ish music on, and I slightly felt like I was in a club. I enjoyed making a playlist from their music and watching music videos, however halfway to SF my sound went out. They said they would restart the system but they never did. The crew on this flight was extremely hilarious and that safety video/cartoon was quite amusing.

On my way back from SF, the plane had a lot of room. I noticed the guy next to me had a remote for the video games. I didn't see anyone use it on my previous flight so I thought he must be VIP or something to have a remote. I was a bit jealous and started poking around at the seat and finally figured out the channel and volume control comes out of the arm rest and flips over into a remote. I played a few games, listened to some music, but I loved having satellite TV. It made my day to watch Law and Order SVU on the plane.

I would definitely take Virgin America again and again. It's a bummer that I have to go on Southwest to Vegas this weekend. Southwest needs to update their equipment to compete with Virgin America. Then again, Virgin America needs to fly to more places!

I've always flown more traditional airlines (in the decor and service sense like British Airways) so when I took Virgin Atlantic from LAX to LHR I was pleasantly surprised by their more modern approach to the friendly skies. When I found out Virgin America will be starting service from SAN to SFO i quickly bought my ticket. Main reason being I'm a snob traveler and have never really enjoyed my Southwest flights.

I checked in online with no bags so I headed directly to the security check point at Terminal 2. No problems at all. Got on the plane and LOVED the mood lighting! Everything looks really fresh and modern. I loved the in flight entertainment not to mention the games! I flew Economy on my way to SFO and flew First Class back to SAN. Aside from ticklish massage chairs and a bit more leg room, not much difference.

I recommend VA. Prices are reasonable as well which is always a plus. Give this swanky experience a try.

I'm not sure if this is the same as Virgin Atlantic, but that's what I'll be reviewing:

THANK YOU!  The prices are great, and they were wonderful help when I was a complete idiot and booked my flight out of and back to, Las Angeles (yes, I live in SD).  Oops.  Don't know what I was thinking!  But when arrived for my non-existent flight at the SD airport, they were all really helpful and got me on the next flight out to San Francisco and also booked my return flight home for me too.  AND, they didn't charge me anything extra - that's unbelievable!!!!!

Service is very enthusiastic and accommodating.  In-flight "RED" entertainment is a nice addition to travel - even on short flights, it really does enhance your experience.

Big thumbs up from me!!

I've flown with them 3 times and each time has been awesome. The inside looks kind of like the waiting inside of Space Mountain combined with Barbarella. Each seat has it's own touchscreen media center where you can watch movies, live tv or listen to mp3's.

On my first flight with them I asked for a Screwdriver and then asked if I slide my credit card thru the slider on the top of the tv. She said it was broken that day and they don't take cash so drinks all the way to SFO were free. Way to make a good first impression.

I flew first class last time, even though coach is the nicest coach I've ever been on, and that was worth the extra $50 they charged as a "last minute upgrade" which as a piece of advice, has been available on all 3 flights I went on so don't pay the $100 when you book unless you reeeeally want first class. If it's available get it, if not, then hey, coach is good here.

Have flown Virgin several times back and forth from JFK-LAX - definitely my airline of choice currently for this route.

I've found Virgin to offer the lowest fairs, and they certainly have the nicest (read newest) planes and best service.  I'm a big fan of the seatback ordering system, and they actually have some things I don't mind paying for to eat.  Much easier to simply tap a few buttons to get a drink rather than trying to wave down a flight attendant - all airlines should do this.

Biggest downside is the relatively cramped coach cabin.  I'm not sure if it's any less space than is available from the other carriers, but given how nice the rest of the experience typically is, I always feel really cramped.  Worth snagging an exit row if possible, at which point it's great.  (I'm also 6'2", so your mileage may vary.)

JetBlue is my backup airline - they have one major advantage for LA travelers in that they fly out of Burbank, which is so much easier than LAX, but obviously Virgin needs to keep its routes popular and its flights full to stay profitable.  Will be interesting to see how the airline ages (in terms of planes, equipment, service) as they go along.  I feel like so many people felt the same way about JetBlue five years ago, but now JetBlue is getting a bit ragged and Virgin is the new kid on the block.  We'll see, but for now I will recommend Virgin over anything else on the market.

Got a super-cheap fare to San Francisco when Virgin America debuted in San Diego. Seriously, the flight was practically free. (The fares now, from what I can tell, are equivalent to Southwest or United).

It's nice to be able to be able to use a credit card for purchases (TV, food, movies) at your seat. The mood lighting is fun, but for a new plane we were a bit bummed to see that our armrest and tv screens were already really scratched up with gang-looking symbols. Many of the other advertised amenities (seat-to-seat chat) weren't working. And yes, you can watch cable TV, but they charge you for the premium channels.

And holy hell, the ground staff AND flight attendants we encountered on our flight were a-holes from start to finish. Major attitude at the gate, attitude when presenting boarding passes, attitude from the flight attendants on the plane. It was 6 am so I can understand, but still... it's your JOB. Be nice, m'kay? It's 6 am for us, too.

3 stars for managing to meet expectations for an airline (arguably low)- remembering this, I will check the Virgin fares against other airlines and if two are the same, I will probably opt for the other airline. Sorry Virgin, but as they say, you only have one chance to make a first impression!

Wow!  What a deal on our flight to NYC.  We got a buy one get one free deal.  $350.00 bucks round trip for two people.  The staff was amazing.  They had to be the most friendly flight staff ever.

There is a different security point at terminal 2 that you go through and it is a breeze.  Easy Easy Easy! When you board the plane it feels like you are heading to a cool lounge.  There are lots of things to do on the TV screen at your seat.  You can watch music videos, satellite TV, pre-recorded TV shows, movies, radio stations, and even IM people in different seats.  Another cool thing is your can order snacks, meal, and drinks (adult beverages too) on the touch screen.  However some people might be annoyed because they only accept credit cards and ATMs.  That works for me because I never have cash.  Oh and the bathroom plays soft Electronica while in flight.

Really the only bad thing was we had to make an emergency landing in Denver because there were issues with the toilet.  The staff is also fairly new so they were a bit flustered from time to time but still very friendly unlike some of the pushy and rude attendants we have on OTHER airlines.

I would definitely fly Virgin again especially if I find another rocking deal .

pros... this is how people should fly.  it is just sheer pleasure to fly this way, no drama, no fussing, and great customer service.  flew from san diego to san francisco and it was just great, even though the flight was only 45 minutes long it was in comfort and luxury.  well compared to southwest and other airlines.  virgin has got them beat in customer service.

cons... wish they flew to more places, but i guess it will come with time.

Virgin Air is the only way to fly to San Fran! I felt like a rockstar, and I wasn't even in first class. The flight from San Diego to San Fransisco was $75. The cabin has cool club like lighting, and they have an awesome in flight entertainment system. I was able to make playlists, watch tv, or play games. The flight crew was very upbeat, even on my 6am return flight back.

I didn't think anyone could out-Jet-Blue Jet Blue (are you following my train of thought?) but these guys have. I love, love, love it! i've only flown the short hop to SFO but that's all i needed. It's basically a flying nightclub with mod lighting, cushy seats and one of the better in-flight entertainment set ups i've seen. you'll be making play lists and doing a bunch of other things that you really don't need to. just chill and enjoy the ride.

Recently took a round trip from SD to SFO. Checking in was a breeze - no line and great customer service. The ride to and from was great.  The uber cool "Sex and the City pink" up lighting and soothing lounge music made me feel like I was at a lounge and all I was missing was a martini. Every seat has their own mini tv screen and you can watch just about anything. Don't forget to bring  your own earphones!

We were running late to SFO and we thought for sure we were going to miss our flight. Again - no line, no wait. We checked in our bags, cruised on through security and we were back to SD in no time.  I think the fact that Virgin is located in a less crowded terminal at both airports saved us from waiting in ridiculously long lines.

i took a rt flight from sd to sfo, and it was great. upon first entrance on the plane, it looks like a club. clean white with purple, blue and red light highlights. then you sit down to your own screen and you can listen to the radio or make your own playlist from the artists they've got, which isn't 1/2 bad. a bit of cold war kids, john coltrane, and even the soundtrack to wicked. when the plane landed, i wanted them to fly around a bit more, b.c i selected songs that i wanted to hear.

while waiting to board the plane on my way back last night, the peeps wanted to play some games. i answered a question right and won a free voucher for either a movie, premium tv show or a dranky drank. woo hoo!!! i wanted to get a movie, persepolis, but the fight is only an hour and fifteen minutes short. so i decided to get some red wine. however, my face is already blushing at this point from the glasses of red wine i had for dinner. so i just ordered an episode of the office. i passed the f out near the end of the episode, and just listen to some music the rest of the way.

apparently you can also chat with other people on your flight with their texting/chat feature. that's cool. a new and inventive way to pick up a significant other if you're feeling a bit lonely.

the best part, it's damn cheap!!! just make sure to get it a bit ahead of time, the closer you get to your departure dates, the more money it'll cost you.

the one flaw i found was that virgin america airlines are in the international area. when my cousin was dropping me off at sfo, we went straight to domestic. why are you in international when you only fly in the us?!?!

It is too bad that Yelp only lets me give five stars. . . . .   I rate them a six star airline.    It was my first time flying Virgin America.   I was seated in Row 23,  seat C.

Where do I begin . . . . .

First off the boarding experience:   Nice,  they do it in stages A, B, C, D, etc. etc.    I am not sure how they assign priority, because I was in group B and there were people seated all over the place.

Next was the safety video ( http://www.youtube.com... )   You have to check this out !!!!!  It is the best pre flight video I have ever had the pleasure of being forced to watch.   The narrator is very sarcastic and funny.

In flight service is up next . . . . . .
Ummmm it was pretty good for such a short flight.   They start at the front of the cabin working their way back.    Takes some time if you are at the back, but worth it.     I will comment later more about in flight food options when I explain RED.     The staff is most accommodating in all your needs.

Ok now I get to explain RED.
RED is the most unique in-flight entertainment system out there.   It lets you, order food, watch tv, listen to music, play video games, chat with other passengers via Seat-to-Seat chat.   So say when you get on you see this hot guy/gal,  jot down the seat number and once in flight, chat away.    They also have a chat room that is everyone in the plane.
Now more about the food and beverages. . . . . . .  Snacks are not free on the flight but soda and water are.   There is a menu option that lets you select snacks, drinks, or Meals.   Snacks range from $1 to $3 and alcoholic beverages $5 to $8.    I am not sure about meals, I was on a short flight and they did not have full meal service.   So you have your Coke (free) and your Chocolate Chip Cookies ($2) and you are ready to pay.   All you have is a $20 and worried about change.    Here is the deal, there is no cash accepted on-board.  You just swipe your card on in the hand held remote and you are done.

I don't think I will fly anyone else but Virgin America when the possibility allows.   I suggest you book a flight and experience for yourself the pleasure of Virgin America.       Next flight I am taking First Class so I can write about it as well.

Best flight ever.  For the first time, I didn't even look out the window.  The quietest flight because everyone is drooling over something on the screen in front of them. Games/inflight chat room/food/drinks/all channels.  For the first time, you actually get HAPPY the person in front of you just leaned back so far your knees crack, but the screen is closer.    Word to the wise, bring Purell.

First time on VA... cheaper rates than Southwest and United to SFO. Super fast check in both coming and going. Delayed an hour and a half from SAN because a rear restroom didn't work (they finally gave up)... however, they apologized a million and a half times, let people off the plane to go potty... and made sure (seriously) the 8 people with connecting flights were the first off the plane. However, I am still flying the cheapest fare available, not a loyal customer of any airline... yet.

Virgin America is truly in a class of it's own (a better class!)

I've notoriously always picked flights based on lowest price (and schedule) and not at all by airline. (I'm not very good about the "customer loyalty" programs either)

Now I try to fly Virgin every time I'm flying to/from the cities that they service.

The planes are new (and very safe-feeling, smooth rides), seats are comfortable, and the food is actually good (you order from your seat and have to pay extra, but on long flights, I've enjoyed caprese sandwiches).

The staff are really polite and helpful (once I accidentally booked my flight in the wrong direction SFO to SAN instead of the reverse. When I showed up at SAN, they helped me change my ticket with no penalties aside from some good-natured teasing, which I deserved!).

And I swear, Virgin must hire based on attractiveness because it seems like all their employees are hot.

Anyway, this airline gives me the warm fuzzies and makes me feel like a rockstar! (Sometimes I think my boyfriend is even a bit jealous of my love for VA! =)

Flew SAN-SFO roundtrip. Reasonably cheap flights (but for how long?), recaro leather seating with plug-ins for your laptop, good inflight entertainment through RED(where else can you play DOOM or chat to other passengers on the plane at 22000 feet?) DirecTV spotty at times. Led mood lighting  gives the plane a calming lounge like atmosphere.Staff  was exceptional: No crusty old FAs (pardon me) disgruntled with their jobs. The pilot (in black button up with lapels, black bomber jacket, and slacks,) introduced himself pre-flight in the waiting area, answering questions, and took photos with passengers. Very personable. New Airbus A320s were clean and the flight was smooth. Just an overall great experience on an up and coming domestic airline! Lookout Jetblue and Southwest!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new airline. We flew out of San Diego for a quick weekend in SF over memorial day and also got a flight for under $100.00. This was the first time in a while we have flown out of SAN without our flight being delayed - everything was on time and all the attendants seemed to be happy with their jobs and it showed. I loved the in-seat entertainment and comfortable seats. I hope they expand where they fly out of SAN because I would love to make this the only airline I fly.

I fly a ton and this by far is one of the best domestic airlines. I love the modern sleek design, the Red platform video screens, and the price ($100 roundtrip  SFO to SAN to visit my girlfriends, and usually $180 from SFO to Seattle to visit my boyfriend). I also love the fact that Virgin America is located in the international terminal in SFO, and I have never had to wait in line to check it. Forget Southwest....

the biggest disappointment i had with this flight back to SF was that the stewardess was bugging me about my bag!! and having to put it on the floor as opposed to on my lap, which i do on all my other flights including virgin america. i was pretty bummed out that my tv (red) froze. but i informed a staff member and they reset my tv ... it took a while for it to reboot, but it worked. the games and music helped pass the time. i cant wait until my next flight with virgin. =]
