We stayed at the Vintners Inn over Memorial Day weekend. It was a cute, quiet, romantic and relaxing place to stay while in Sonoma county. The rooms are very large and include a quaint patio or balcony as well. We took full advantage of that, along with the complimentary bottle of wine in each room, to relax with some yummy cheese and crackers we picked up at the gourmet grocery the street. Other perks I appreciated included the scrumptious chocolate chip cookies on our bed each night with turndown service (and we're not talking Otis Spunkmeyer, although I'd take care of those too), the jogging trail through the vineyard in the back, and the continental breakfast.

A few previous reviews poo poo'd the continental breakfast. I don't get it. It is continental breakfast! If anything, maybe I should thank them because I went in with low expectations and it was a much better experience for a continental if you ask me. The room is cute and have a waiter for coffee, etc. The standard is available: indiv. boxed cereal (good mix of sugary and healthy), cheese, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, bread and juice from what I can remember. You can order off the menu or get espresso coffee drinks at an extra cost if you wish.

Overall, I'd recommend the Vintners Inn if staying in Sonoma county. I'd prefer to stay in downtown Healdsburg considering how close it is to so many things...as the Vintners Inn doesn't have anything nearby. However, it is likely cheaper, is immediately off the 101, and provides easy access to so many places you likely want to visit while in wine country. It provides a no hassle and relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy!

omg, another reviewer mentioned an earwig, so it wasn't just me. one night, an earwig came scurrying across the carpet. YUCK! it is amazing to me that with all the travel i do, this is only the second time i've seen bugs in a room.

i was disappointed with this property for several other reasons:

* i was in a downstairs room with "private patio" and i could not keep any of my curtains open because anybody could look into my room from any of the 4-5 windows. it was unbelievable. i could not have any natural light in there if i wanted to change or whatever. the patio had a waist-high hedge on one side and anybody walking by could look in and there were often people standing there talking to each other.

* when i checked in, i was not shown to my room but only pointed to the building. when i was in the building, there were no signs indicating the direction for room numbers.

* when i checked in, i was not told anything about continental breakfast. i was not reminded that it was included, i was not told the hours it was available, and i was not told where it would be served.

* there is a hot tub and exercise room on the property but i was not told about it nor the keypad code.

* room service shuts down around 10pm

* i booked a deep tissue massage, which they specifically pointed out that there was an extra charge for, and then i received a swedish massage but was still charged for deep tissue. there is no spa on site so they call in independent contractors, which is totally fine, but they need to communicate the guest's requests when booked. and without a real spa onsite, how can they have "signature spa services"?

* faucets weren't marked H/C in either sink or shower

* only one-setting rainfall shower head with no handheld extension piece

* decorative pillows were placed directly on the regular pillows you sleep on and i know how dirty those decorative ones get when people throw them on the floor and whatever

* no free bottled water and no sign that tap water is potable

* didn't receive turn down service

* near airport

Overall, I thought this would be a small and cozy boutique hotel with great service but I've seriously received more hospitality at motel chains. I've heard that this is now mainly a conference hotel. I stayed here with a 15% discount and I won't be staying here again.

The positives:

* Recycling bin
* Huge bathroom with soaking tub (no jets)
* Nice flatscreen tv
* Wifi
* Parking lot
* Delicious Huevos Rancheros available for breakfast (but they were around $11)
* Near highway but didn't hear it in the room

We stayed at the Vintners Inn to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, and splurged for a suite for $400 a night.

It had a huge jacuzzi tub, which we enjoyed until a HUGE HAIRBALL shot out of the jets and onto my leg. Gross. The king sized bed was loud, creaky and uncomfortable. I would have rather slept on the floor. I also found a nasty bug nestled into the folds of my supposedly clean towel. An EARWIG!! Google it. They are not pretty!

To top it all off, when I mentioned these things at the front desk, they were quite rude about it--like it was my fault their rooms were nasty. Needless to say, I will never stay here again.

I stayed here last November and found that it was not worth the huge price tag that they charge. For $350 I would expect more then cereal and coffee for breakfast. We also found a bugs in our room and we could hear everything going on in our neighbors room. This is supposed to be a romantic suite, but with super thin walls how romantic can you get? We could hear our neighbors, and clearly they could hear us because no one would look eachother in the eye
in the hall the next morning. This is supposed to be custom hotel for John ash, Ferrari-Carano. How about some insulation in the walls, make sure the maids clean the rooms for nasty bugs and lay out a nice breakfast with the $300 $400 rooms. As a matter of fact, you should wheel up a cart with breakfast on it to my room at this price. WTF! Don't give me those little boxes of cereal like I am staying at a super 8.

We loved the Vintners Inn! It had exactly the charm we expected during a quick weekend getaway in wine country. When you pull in to the driveway (at least, in the evening) you are greeted by vineyards, flowers, rose bushes, brick buildings, and twinkle lights. So pretty!

We stayed in one of the upstairs junior suites, which was fantastic-- a huge room with vaulted ceilings, balcony overlooking the vineyard, fireplace,  jacuzzi tub, and bottle of white wine! And the turndown service included some of the best chocolate chip cookies... yum!

At night, it was so lovely to sit on the balcony and stare at the stars while listening to the wind rustling through the trees and vineyard, mixed with the sound of a crackling fireplace and the courtyard fountain. Very peaceful and romantic.

The staff is really sweet and attentive all around. A delicious and complimentary continental breakfast was included with our room price, and our waiter always made a point of chatting with us about our stay in the area. The front desk gave us loads of free passes for some great little wineries nearby. We were also close to the redwoods and within 1/2 hour drive of Bodega Bay, which was great.

We were thrilled- I highly recommend a stay here if you're in Sonoma Country for any occasion, but especially a romantic one. ;)

I checked this place out during the Thanksgiving break, and found it to be pretty nice. Normally, I don't know if I'd drop the requisite cash to stay here, but found a great deal on their website for $165/night (normally something ridiculous like $250) for an upstairs room with a fireplace and balcony.

The Inn staff was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. They offered lots of suggestions on things to do, though we had plenty of plans of our own.

The Inn is located right on Hwy 101, with relatively easy access to Calistoga, Napa, and Sonoma County. We drove over from Calistoga along a nice, windy road that was long, but pleasant.

I found the room to be very clean and well appointed with high, vaulted ceilings, a king sized bed, a bottle of wine, 35" TV, fireplace (with duraflame log - one per night), and a balcony overlooking the establishment, and part of the vineyard. There were even cookies on the bed for us ... how nice. Another Yelp reviewer mentioned the freeway noise, but it wasn't a problem for me, at all. I didn't even hear it when we ran on the trail through the vineyards, which was a bit confusing as many of the directional arrows had been knocked down.

We didn't dine at John Ash & Co., as I was warned away from the place, so I can't comment on the food. We went to General's Daughter in Sonoma and Press in St. Helena the nights that we were there. However, we did have their breakfast, and it certainly left a lot to be desired. We opted to use the coupons we were given for the continental breakfast, towards items on the menu. This wasn't much better as the pancakes were dry, and the sausage was amazingly greasy! Ugh. I must admit that the service was good and attentive, but do your self a favor and skip the breakfast here, all together unless you want yogurt and juice.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a night in April, the night before Williams-Selyem members pickup day.  My original plan was to get to WS early Saturday morning to avoid the mob of people and try to get my hands on extra bottles of the Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir.  Neither of these ideas materialized.

However, I was smart enough to spin this as a surprise getaway to my girlfriend.  She never caught on to my original intentions, and thus we had a fantastic impromptu trip.

Our room was *very* nice for the price, relative to other options in the area.  I love the Farmhouse Inn, and have sent countless friends there, but they are a bit more expensive, hard to get last minute, and the rooms are a little on the dinky side.

But, back to Vintners Inn...  the details:  Very large room with vaulted ceilings, a nice fireplace with room to chill in front, comfortable king-sized bed, complementary mini bottle of mediocre supermarket Sauv Blanc (but it was free, people!).  We thoroughly enjoyed the large jetted tub (complementary bath salts, another nice touch).  We also had a little terrace with a table and two chairs overlooking beautiful vineyards...  Guess where we cracked that bottle of sauv?

The breakfast left much to be desired (thus the 4-star rating)... the service was a bit green, the free continental buffet was straight out of Costco.  We opted to apply our free buffet coupon for the optional $2 off the breakfast entrees, which were not much better than what the buffet had to offer.

I hear the John Ash & Co. restaurant on the property is very good, and apparently they offer a Sunday brunch.  If they do, head straight there, do not pass go.

The only other turn-off was the feel of the place.  I really love Russian River Valley's laid back, down home aesthetic.  We didn't really catch that vibe here.  Much more Napa-esque.  But once we were in our room, we were very, very relaxed.

To be fair the Vintner's Inn is the first place I have stayed in the Sonoma area, so my opinions do not reflect how it compares to other hotels in the region, it only reflects how I feel based on a cost vs. pleasure basis evaluated against my humble experiences in the past.
(I'm from the hills).
I paid about $250 for an upstairs king with a fireplace and a nice little balcony. The only reason I bring up the price is because I paid the money in advance when I made the reservation, so the price I paid for the room kept haunting me whenever I formed any opinion of any aspect of the hotel! Anyway, you want the details so I'll quit b.s. ing about me.

The first thing i noticed was the proximity of the hotel to Highway 101.  This is good because the hotel is easy to get to but very bad because of freeway noise.  If your simply looking for an easy place to stay along 101 on your way south, you may not mind the traffic noise and appreciate that the hotel is about 200 yards from the freeway.  But I was looking for a more relaxing type of getaway and the freeway noise definitely detracted from the otherwise serene setting.  Maybe if your used to a lot of background noise you wouldn't even notice.

The hotel is set in a small patch of grapes and has pretty good views out of most of the rooms.  I would recommend the rooms on the western side of the hotel; these are opposite the freeway and the hotel parking lot.  Each room has a balcony or a patio area, nice for drinking your complimentary 375 ml Clos de Bois chard (that's what we got anyway).   The bed was good, nice sheets and down comforter. We fired up the Duraflames in the fireplace, made for a nice cozy atmosphere.

We slept in till about 11 then headed down for the free breakfast.  Don't expect pancakes like mom made, or pancakes at all. . . you will find yogurt, some fruit, some little pastries, Frosted flakes, apple or orange juice.  The coffee was pretty good. After breakfast take a cup of coffee with you and have a little walk around the hotel gardens.  You will find the various shrubs and flowers very well pruned and maintained.  After that you can have a little jog on the 2 mile jogging trail that encompasses the grapes grown on the property.  The jog is not really scenic, its near the highway, but at least you've got a decent place to jog.  Check out is at 12.

Overall the room was pretty nice; vaulted ceilings and newer furniture and carpet and stuff.  I can't complain about that.  But at $250 it's too expensive for a convenient place to stay while passing through, and its proximity to the highway rules it out for a romantic place to stay while wine tasting and enjoying the area.  I guess It really wasn't a bad hotel in any way, but I probably wouldn't stay again.

We stayed at the Vintners Inn for a weekend trip and had a great experience.  The rooms were very comfortable, had a great fire place, and the view over the vineyard was great.

The fresh baked cookies were nice too.

The restaurant on the premises was excellent as well - helpful waiters, great food, good wine.

The only draw back is that if you want to go to Napa or Sonoma, it is a bit of a drive, but a really nice drive.
