Ahhhh, Vinal Edge. This place is a vinyl junkie's mecca. This along with Sound Exchange on Richmond Ave. have the best selection of music in town.
All you teeny bop, MTV lovers, top 40 overplayed crap need not apply. This is where you can find all your weirdest and wildest musical desires to please the hipster music snob in you.
I haven't been here is 10 years or so and it still smells the same. Looks the same and feels the same. I love it. It's like being in a darkly lit maze of beautiful vinyl, CD and tapes. So much to look through it would be years before you would want to leave. I used to spend my whole paycheck at this place back in the day.... Oh the good times!! Now it's a little far for me to drive to on a regular basis, but it's well worth the pilgrimage to one of the best places to find music! -

It torments me that this place is so remote that I forget it exists. Probably not a bad thing, as I always leave here lamenting I can't buy the whole store.
The store's dinginess is the stuff vinyl record hunters dreams are made of. Row after row of solid acquisitions wait to be discovered. Some priced a little high perhaps and others just right.
Vinyl lovers should come prepared to spend too much time here.Comment from Chuck R. of Vinal Edge Records CDs & Tapes 12/3/2010
Thanks for dealing with the torment for the love of vinyl!… More » -

I have had excellent experiences on each visit to this establishment. Small in size, but with a great used and new cd collection that will cover the tastes of those who like popular, those who like heavy, and those who want something different.
They have Cd's, posters, t-shirts, a local section, magnets, and of course records.
I am asked if we need help each time we walk in. The atmosphere is very laid back as well.
It is on the north-end of town, but why shouldn't the north end of town have a great record shop! -

I have been coming to this record store for almost 20 years. It is hands down the absolute best record store I have ever been in, coast to coast. I live in San Francisco now but try to swing by whenever I'm back in Houston.
I remember going there in high school and buying all of the import CDs that I could... and then putting myself in Chuck's hands and discovering such gems as Parmigiani and Main.
Wow, how I wish I could teleport this store to San Francisco... Vinal Edge, I love you!!!Comment from Chuck R. of Vinal Edge Records CDs & Tapes 8/30/2010

I found this place because of Yelp and I agree with everyone this place is a treasure. It's small you do have to do some digging but it's all worth it. The owner is very helpful from the phone call to check out.
He really knows his music and artists. This place you have to hit up when you are not in a rush b/c you will be busy crate diving. I'll be back very soon and then someComment from Chuck R. of Vinal Edge Records CDs & Tapes 8/12/2010

This record store is far out (of town), but it's also faaaar oooout.
The owner knows his stuff, and he has good taste. Mostly punk, noise, rock, and other hard sort of records, but if you're looking for something that's not in those categories you might want to call ahead and see if he has it in one of the massive rows of records. It's a really good browsing store, and it's got a lot of heart. Prices aren't exorbitant, but you'll get what you pay for here (he knows what the good records are!).Comment from Chuck R. of Vinal Edge Records CDs & Tapes 8/12/2010
We are a drive for many in-town customers, but there are… More » -

My favorite record shop in Houston hands down. There's always some good New Wave for me when I go and the prices are fair. Give yourself some time because there is gold if you dig through the massive crates throughout the shop. I love it.
