I definitely want to come back to this place. We were waiting for our table at Tommaso's, across the street, and decided to try a flight of wines in our 40 minute wait for our table. This place is owned by the same people as Tommaso's .. I don't know why they don't just put a sign in their minuscule 'lobby' saying to go wait in their wine bar across the street instead ... would make them so much more money.
Anyway, it was relatively empty, except for a private party that was taking place in the back of the room. The lady serving us was a huge pourer!! My $14 flight of three wines was seriously three full glasses of wine! I liked their selection ... I'm trying to experiment more with Italian wines .. and while this place didn't have exclusively Italian wines (which I guess is good), they had enough of a collection that I could make my flight purely Italian. After the 3 full glasses, and the nut mix, crackers, and chocolate covered raisins she threw in ... my 40 minutes were over before I realized it. I was nice and buzzed and ready for my dinner :-)
I think I am going to do my hubby's bday party here next year. Do a tasting at the bar, and then walk over to an Italian joint for dinner ... somewhere that takes reservations, since Tommaso's doesn't. BTW, you can also order food from Tommaso's and have it brought over to the Vin Club and eat it there. Don't think they will serve it to you though. Oh, and they have a $5 wine tasting of 5 wines on Fridays from 4-7pm ... def want to hit that up ... though I don't imagine they would pour the way that lady did for me that night!

We went here on a late Friday night and the place was empty. We were greeted immediately by this man who recognized my friends and was told that our spot was available. This is a cool new place to hang out in North Beach. There's also live music but I'm not sure if its every night or weekends only.

We ordered a bottle of Pinot Gris and a bottle of Rose. Next time I come back maybe I'll stick with reds since I'm not a big fan of white wines. Overall, I had an awesome time - maybe because I was with a group of awesome girls. Their selection of wine is not as extensive as you would expect though so don't complain if they didn't meet your expectation. Service was great too-- well it was a slow night but the guy was really super friendly and cool!

I was excited to try this place as it's not to far away from where I live. Hmmm...I should have known judging from it's location.
It's a nice enough appearance wise, but the clientele is just like what goes to the surrounding bars and strip clubs. I was not impressed. Maybe it was an off night (it was a Friday night), but it was a little rough for a wine bar crowd.
I was also not impressed by their wine list. Not a whole lot to choose from though they did have "flights". How can you be a wine bar when I only have 1 or 2 chardonnays to choice from (by glass)?
Also take note that their "limoncello" is actually a shot named after the popular Italian liqueur, it's not actually authentic limoncello.

I love this place.  I went here on Saturday and sat right at the bar w/ my company.  They got wasted (I didn't, but totally okay with that!) and we enjoyed ourselves.  I really loved the wines I tasted.  The bartender was good looking which is always a plus, not to mention, he was very professional and courteous.  I'm definitely coming back.

Vin Club is great for many reasons: nice location on Broadway in North Beach, right around the corner from great Italian food and the owner, Dario has his own selction of wine called, Vin Nostro--which I highly suggest you try!  I've always been a Pinot girl but, the Vin Nostro Cab is amazing!

So, it's North Beach, so you know what you are dealing with just getting yourself to that hood (taxis, parking, etc). This place itself great.  I agree - a total suprise for it's location!  Went a couple of weeks ago with a friend who knows the owner.  Dario wasn't there but the guys behind the bar were great!  Really friendly and helpful.   The experience as you walk in is:
*Deep red interior
*Perfect lounge atmosphere
*Hip hop coming out of the speakers
*Cartoons and vids playing on a couple of flatscreens throughout
*Well-priced by the glass wine menu with very decent variety
*Did I mention the super friendly bartenders - so, good vibes all around
It's the ideal place to chill with friends over a glass of wine!

Stopped in after work on a rare gorgeous San Francisco day, eager to try this great new neighborhood wine bar during its soft opening stage.  Vin Club did not disappoint!

We looked over the promising, well-edited menu and decided to try a flight each.  We both started with the prosecco - lovely citrus taste and not too sweet.  From there I tried the Marsanne white and my partner tried the Santa Yuez sauvignon blanc.  Both were good but I preferred the smoky sauv to the buttery Marsanne.

We finished off the flight with a Russian River syrah and Primitivo from the owner's family vineyard, VinNostro.  The primitivo was absolutely lovely, rich and flavorful yet light.  We ordered a caprese salad which was a great pairing to any of the wines we tried, and the super-friendly and knowledgable owners brought over a gratis ramekin of almonds.

I enjoyed the VinNostro primitivo so much I opted for a full glass, and my partner did another flight.  All were good - a sweet verdicchio, delicious fruity rose, and the VinNostro cabernet, which was just deliciously dry.

Cute decor, all reds and browns, and amazingly hospitable staff.  Looking forward to many future bottles shared here!

We would have never thought that there'd be a wine bar hidden in the middle of broadway where all the strip clubs and night clubs.

We walked past it and walked back to make sure it was what we thought it was, a WINE BAR...on broadway. wow.

My friend and I walked past it before dinner one night and decided to check this place out after dinner.

We walked in to what seemed like a party, tables had reserved signs on it. So we walked in used the bathroom, and proceeded to head out, when someone from behind the bar asks us why we're leaving.  We told him that we thought it was a private party, but he welcomed us and told us to sit anywhere we'd like. And so we did.

We ordered our wine and sat there to chit chat.  Very nice spot to relax, enjoy some wine and chit chat.

Our server was really helpful with choosing the right wine for each of us.

The owner came up to our table, introduced himself and talked about the bar and how it was related to Tomasso's around the corner! That was pretty cool.  Made us feel more comfortable.  He also refilled our glass of wine, free of charge, which was really nice.

I would definitely come here again, perhaps for future bachlorette parties or even a birthday!

My dad is a member of Tommaso's Wine Club, so when he was invited to the Vin Club's opening (and I read about it in UrbanDaddy!), I was eager to join.

Vin Club is a beautiful, sexy wine bar in North Beach, 1/2 a block from Tommaso's.  Everyone was offered a delicious, sparkling wine to start.  It was so refreshing for a warm day, and a hint of sweetness...mmm!  After filling up on yummy appies, I had a nice glass of Pinot to go with the chocolatey desserts.

All the staff were so warm and friendly, they make you feel so welcome.  Especially Dario!  My dad is a big fan of his wines.  I wish this place much success!

Located in the otherwise tawdry 500 block of Broadway, Vin Club is a pleasant respite from the strip clubs and bars packed by the Bridge & Tunnel crowd.

With a long bar that dominates the interior, the establishment is more wine bar than wine lounge.  What the few tables offer in privacy, they lack in service.  If you want a drink, be prepared to go to the bar.Hey, bartenders, venture out to the tables to take orders, serve, or bring a check once in a while ... It is a service industry, after all.)

With approximately 20 selections, the wine list would be perfect for Goldilocks:  not too long; not too short ... just right.  With offerings from Prosecco and Sauvignon Blanc to Cabernet Sauvignon and Primitivo, it has something for everyone.

Of particular note are the selections from the proprietor's own label, VinNostro.  (Gosh, I am sure they spent at least 30 second coming up with that name ...  )  The VinNostro Primitvo, was rustic with great tannins, and its brother the VinNostro Cabernet Sauvignon showed tons of cherry fruit with a strong backbone of ripe tannins.  There were a few wine flights to complement the single glass offerings as well.

The question is "Other than location, what sets Vin Club apart from any other wine bar in The City?"  With a stark, more-or-less undecorated interior and few food offerings, the unfortunate answer is "Not much."

Had a great time having a friend's birthday celebration at the Vin Club this past weekend.  Dario (the owner) and his staff were great at accomodating a large group of about 20-25 people for the event.  If you have a larger group, I recommend you call them ahead of time so they can work with you on the wine/food selections and setting aside some space for you

The staff was very attentive and they have a good selection of wines including some of their own vintages (I quite enjoyed the Primitivo VinNostro)

The ambiance is ideal if you are looking for a place to enjoy a nice bottle of wine and catching up with your friends.  Overall, a great addition to North Beach and I look forward to going back.

A new beautiful tucked away place across from Enrico's. I had no idea of what to expect when a friend invited me to check out the Vin Club . The place was jammed with people for a Wednesday night happy hour. I ordered the Anti pasta and cheese platter...yum. I'm not a huge fan of Sauvignon Blanc, but I went with the bartender's recommendation and it was a hit!  BTW ladies, I haven't seen a more stunning and handsome bar staff like these men in a very long time. Wowzer!

I went last Thursday after work with a girlfriend to try this new place out. The decor was good, although nothing special- typical wine bar. The space is open so it didn't feel cramped or crowded. We opted to sit at a table, not the bar. Although this provided us more privacy, it lacked service. We arrived around 6pm when the bar was about 1/4 full- service 5 stars. When we left, I had to go up to the bar to pay the check- service 2 stars. The two men running the place were friendly, but a little overwhelmed with the crowd.

As for the wine and prices, great. 5 starts. Wine from small vineyards and interesting varietals were on the menu. I especially liked the option to try any 3 tastes for $11. Wine: 4 stars.

We also ordered a cheese and meat plate, which was yummy and plentiful, along with a salad and bruschetta tapenade. Food: 3.5 stars. I think their cheese and meat selection could go a little more off the beaten trail, although what they offer is good.

I will definitely go back, but next time I will sit at the bar.

My colleagues and I went to the city last week to see Michelle Obama at the National Service and Volunteering Conference, and capped off an amazing week by visiting North Beach and The Vin Club.  What a wonderfully warm and inviting atmosphere!! The wine list, food, and gracious staff were impressive.  We'll be back!

This is an Oasis of civility in the craziness of an evening in North Beach.
This was my first time visiting this place.  We arrive and the tables were all full. The manager Darius moved some chairs around and found us a wonderful 2-top near the excellent live musical duo.  He then made some wine suggestions -all of them good and my date and I both enjoyed our evening.
When we left the bar after several hours on the comfy leather couch we were reminded what an oasis this place is an otherwise chaotic San Francisco neighborhood.

typically i am not a fan of bars with flat screen wall mounted TVs. or wine bars with said accesorizing for that matter. but vin club was kinda cool. you gotta love a wine bar experience that blends well into the strip joint and vice ridden broadway north beach scene. great service and knowledge about wine. cool connection to tomasso's. the owner's VinNosto wines are quite good actually, try the zin. A few of their bottles are pushing the 2.5x retail pricing. 2x retail seems to be what I'm used to seeing in SF.
