Review from Travis W.
So the girlfriend and I were looking for a bite to eat while vacationing in the area and this literally was about the only choice we had in terms of a true restaurant. Boy! Did we make the right choice! We sat down and decided on just picking up a couple appetizers.
I had the Cheese Brie and it was absolutely orgasmic....nom...nom...nom. The cheese, soft and warm, wrapped in a golden croissant that had a dash of powdered sugar covering it. There was a raspberry sauce adorning the plate it came out with that you were to use to dip the brie in. The flavor of the cheese combined with the flavor of the sauce was just perfect!
My girlfriend had a fish chowder/soup and it too was absolutely insane! Very hearty, perfect blend of peppers and spices. I normally don't care for soups but I could certainly see myself downing a few bowls of this stuff, especially in the colder months. -

Bad news first: If it is busy, be prepared to wait. Our 7:30 reservation was seated at almost 8:30. Lots of confusion on waiting for inside and outside tables. The wait staff was very nice, but the service was slow.
Good news: The food actually was quite good. Nice array of pasta-infused dishes and tons of beer choices. The house wine was a good value, and the musicians added nice atmosphere. -

To Die For Fish Chowder!!!! I loved this little gem right in the heart of Hammondsport! We just had the daily soup special and the brie app and a couple of beers but were in HEAVEN!!! I cant wait to come back and have a whole meal here! The chowder was super thick with meaty white fish and potatoes. YUM!! The waiter was as sweet as can be and service was super fast. We sat outside and enjoyed the people watching on a warm summer night. So relaxing and quaint we will definitely be back!

We only went out to eat for dinner once when we stayed on Keuka Lake.. this place cam recommended by our realtor.
I must say that manfriend was excited about the beer list (quite extensive) and I was happy to see a variety of food that wasn't Italian themed (we'd had lasagna the night before).
The highlight of my night was the delectable scallops with wasabi honey drizzle, asparagus and sweet potato mash. Manfriend liked his steak. It was a tad on the pricey side (for us) but we looked at menus from around town and everything seemed to be in this price range.
My one quam is that it was SUPER busy and even though we had made reservations, we had a kind of crap table with high traffic from the kitchen. -

Hey look, I'm not going to go into luxuriant detail about the transcendent experience I had with their grilled pork loin with peaches. I'm also not going to go on and on about their three ring binder full of beer and wine choices. I won't gripe about the fact that they're a bit costly.
What I'm going to tell you is that I spent a month in a cabin in October, without hot water near lake Keuka, and this place was a warm inviting slice of nummy to me. I came in once by myself and had a glass of wine and some crab dip that my server, Marie suggested.
When I came back with my husband, Marie remembered me. Then remembered us again when we went a third time. Of course, I went in 'low' season, where there's some breathing room between tables, but there's something great about a place where at least somebody's glad you came. -

Nestled on the old town square, the Village Tavern does some surprisingly good dishes. The menu is bit eclectic, but with a few Cajun hints here and there. Our little Sunday Brunch field trippers agreed that the crab cake was the best they've had anywhere.
The service was okay, but takes a star off. That aside, however, it's definitely worth your time if you find yourself in the Finger Lakes looking for something good to eat. -

I imagine this place is probably busy during the summer tourist season, but it was quiet when we were there. The atmosphere was friendly and the decor is like, well, a country tavern. The menu has a respectable variety and the food was good. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area visiting the wineries or other tourist sites. They also serve a wide variety of local wines and beers.
