FYI, this is closed. People still arrive and try to open the door, even though the insides are completely stripped and is obviously not open. It's been a fixture in Swarthmore for so many years, I think the locals will keep coming for years. It's just like those zombies that are mysteriously attracted to malls. I never ate there, but heard the food was especially soft.

Bluehair special in isle 9! My Mom calls restaurants like this bluehair joints, low cost restaurants with standard American food heavy on comfort foods appealing to an older clientele. I gave this a four star rating because even though it doesn't provide gourmet or original dishes it does what it does do very well. A comfortable, homey place with very good service and good food. The menu is mostly standard diner type foods like, pork chops, roast beef, ham but also a healthy selection of fish and seafood including Trout and crab cakes. I had the crab cakes with fries and cole slaw and my better half had broiled flounder with one of her favorite dishes - mac and cheese and stewed tomatoes. The Village is a BYOB, but you will be drinking out of water glasses and it does not accept credit cards. Who could ask for more - low prices and good basic food. BTW we were the youngest people in the place and we aren't young.
