Review from Matt K.
Philadelphia, PA
Time and time and time again VGP makes sure to stir up what seems to sometimes remain a stale music scene in the Philadelphia area. Over the past year and a half I have been consistently blown away by, not only the diversity of the music acts they bring to the stage, but the diversity of different venues and clubs they bring these acts to.
What really pushed me to write my first Yelp review on VGP was the recent announcement of the Benefit For Environmental Justice in Equador taking place at The M Room on October 23. When I first heard the name of Joe and Alex's production company of course I thought of The Kink's. But what I also thought about was the idea of being green and using their name in to contrast benefits like the upcoming one at The M Room.
I always lok forward to VGP's upcoming announcements and shall stay friends with the VGP crew forever and ever. Thanks! -

I may be even more biased than Jillian because I am a member of one of the bands that they promoted. I am keeping this to a 3 Star review as not to ass-kiss too much.
I just want to recognize their professionalism. I also appreciate that they let Void Vision open for The Mary Onettes (Swedes that played about two months ago at The M-Room) without hearing a proper recording of us. Thanks to Alex and Joe.
Plus the openig night at 941 was fun....that deck out back was great. -

I am definitely biased, because I love The Kinks and so do these boys. The fact that they named VGP after one of the best albums ever made is why I went to the kick off party at the 941. I just really loved the scene there and at other gigs they've been putting on.
They're seriously trying to bring something that is missing in the Philly scene. It's hard to articulate what it is, but they have got it. From the awesome music, to the professional presentation and organization of the company--it's just fabu.
I'm so behind the fantastically awesome job that VGP is doing in Philly that I've just started to work with them to help spread the love. -

I was at the kickoff party for Village Green and it was definitely a good scene. They utilized 941 to it's fullest potential and bought in a great mix of musicians. And the all you can drink beer hook up was easily a winner too. And ever since that day Village Green has been doing a great job of bringing some pretty diverse acts into Philly. and it's also done a great job of helping out the locals. and you can't go wrong with the all ages commitment either.
The only complaint that I can think of so far is that the majority of the shows have been pretty centralized to 2 spots in the No Libs area (941 Theater, and The M Room). I would definitely like to see them spread it out more towards The West and Center City areas. That would definitely help them spread out their grand ideas even further. and it would definitely add a lot more musicians onto it.
It's been awhile since I've been to a Village Green show and I'm long overdue. But, so long as Jillian keeps posting up some awesome shows in the events section on here, I'm pretty sure that I'll be taking care of that in no time.Listed in: Music Venues

I had an awful experience with Joe and Village Green productions.
I don't like to use the words "ripped off" lightly, but I play in a band that was a part of a SOLD OUT show at the M Room in Philadelphia... we were promised a share of the cash if the show "did well"... and normally I wouldn't accept such a vague agreement on compensation, but we really wanted to open for the other band.
We were given no money, and were avoided repeatedly by Joe from Village Green when we tried to contact him after the show. -

You guys are awesome! Thanks so much for supporting VGP. It means everything when people actually care enough to spend the time to comment about us...Both positive and negative feedback helps us a great deal! Looking forward to seeing you out at our shows, come up and say hello if I don't know you, I'll buy you a drink! Cheers!

I am one of the owners of the 941 Theater, one of the places that Village Green holds a lot of their shows...I must say working with Joe L. and the entire Village Green team has been a great experience. The shows are always packed and the music is always rockin! Keep up the great work!
