It's recommended to get the 7 beef course, one order will easily feed 1.5 people so plan accordingly.

I thought what set this place apart is the attentive service that we got.  Not only the food arrive quick but we got requests from the waiters/waitresses done almost immediately.  It's the little things that made the experience above par such as having our plates removed quickly and the offering to get us additional dinnerware without explicitly requesting it.  Also, this place allows you to dip your own rice flour wrap in hot water, unlike other places who pre-soak it and it's impossible to peel one off the "clump" without ripping something.

My favorite pho place in LA!
Why? The portions, price, and service are unbeatable!!! Everytime I come here I am completely satisfied. The soup is always spot on - not too salty. They give you really good portion of meat in thier pho as well as the noodles. A regular size pho is around $4!

What really sets them apart? The staff is very very friendly. They check on you constantly and fill up your water. Even when my friend thought she left her phone at the restaurant, several members of the staff helped search!

The restaurant is pretty big so I usually haven't had to wait for a table. But on weekends it does get pretty busy! But well worth it!!!

Screw the line at Golden Deli. I'm coming here. The sister restaurant of nearby Vietnam House and Golden Deli, Vietnam Restaurant outshines its painfully generic name.

Food: The dishes are delish, but you may not even be able to find your food because your table will be covered with a freaking forest. After we ordered, they brought out plates and plates of greens for the pho and egg rolls (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). These guys don't skimp! The egg rolls tasted almost identical to Golden Deli's heavenly meat sticks (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). The meat was tender and the wrapping was paper thin and perfectly crispy. They even give you the same dipping sauce that you get at GD with the carrot and daikon strands swimming inside (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).  I wanted to try the Thai tea here, but they were out of milk. Instead, I went for the French pressed coffee which really did come with it's own press (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). The bottom had a thick layer of condensed milk which perfectly balanced the extreme caffeination of the coffee. My entree was a banh mi that featured BBQ pork and some other surprise meats (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). The bread was toasted to perfection and the meat was tender and juicy. I love the sauce they put on the bread. I think this place has raised my sandwich standards. I'll never eat at Subway again.

Atmosphere: The theme of Vietnam Restaurant is obviously Vietnam. The walls are decorated in gorgeous stringed instruments and paintings. The restaurant is fairly large, so bring your friends. I do have to say that it could probably stand to be cleaner, but it's probably at the same level as Golden Deli.

Service: I was pretty peeved that they couldn't make my Thai iced tea, but we did arrive close to closing time.

Synopsis: I don't know why this place isn't more popular given Golden Deli's success. Maybe the name is just too forgettable? In any case, I'm not too concerned because I can basically eat an equivalent meal without the insane GD crowd.

So i came here 3 days ago with the bf and his friend because i read some reviews that the pho here was great blah blah blah. I dont know if i ate here the wrong day. Anyways, i ordered the combo pho and the broth was watery, it had no flavor so i wanted to make sure it just wasnt me. I made my bf try it and he said the same thing. I had a side of onions in vinegar *sigh* they were not fresh, they tasted like they had them soaking in the vinegar the whole day. At least the 7 courses of beef my bf had was really good, and the com tam that the friend ordered looked good cuz he left his plate clean. And last but not least the waitress was friendly.

This is a solid Vietnamese place that is frankly better than the joints I used to frequent in Westminster. The pho is solid, the sizzling plates are very good and the seven courses of beef is, well, frickin' huge. We are talking side of beef huge here, so be prepared.

Service can be spotty at times. Check it out and you will see what I mean.

The ambiance: Very clean and chic. =)

The food: Solid - your basic dishes - the sandwiches, rolls, noodles etc. Nothing to write home about but overall very good for the price.

The service: Very friendly and courteous. They promptly ask if you want water refills and food comes very quickly! Hard to beat this place!

The price: Very good. About $5 for a big bowl of pho or rice vermicelli!
Haven't tried their 7 course beef dish though. Seems to be reasonably priced though.

I give it a 3 mainly because 1. I don't care too much about the decor enough to rank it higher 2.the food was not bad, but I've had better. But it is a GREAT place to hang out on the cheap!

Pho is good.  Com tam is good.    Bun Bo Hue is so so.   7 course of beef is excelent.   Baked catfish is also good.     Try calling 30 mins erlier to reserve the catfish because it takes time to cook.
Easy for take out.   Call and it;s ready in 10 mins.    Owner is also very friendly

This owner, was the former owner of Saigon House.   So expect the same great food and service that you had originally at Saigon House, if you've ever been there.

This place is much cleaner than Saigon House.   The table and chairs are newer.   There is a nice seating arrangement in another room which features an 25 foot long bench of pillow where you can sit your precious behind on.

The owner, Mike, is a very personable fellow and will occasionally come over to your table to check if everything is A-OK.

"From tall oaks from little acorns grow"    Watch this place flourish.

We come here so often now, I just had to order something different for once!

I'm sorry to say the bun bo hue kind of sucks hard. It lacks any depth of flavor and was just a huge disappointment. I hope it was just a bad night to order it or something. Good thing we still ordered the tried and true bo bay mon as part of our meal. It's the one specialty that we always know will be good.

I ordered a SMALL catfish, which took about an hour to arrive. I didn't mind the wait since the menu clearly states that it would take at least 45 min., but the fish was sooo big. My gawd. The waiter said that was the smallest one they had. (It looked to be at least 4 lbs.) I didn't really like that they just went ahead and cooked their smallest large fish instead of telling us that it might be too big. We ended up taking most of it home.

Get the soda chanh from here. I can't get enough of it! Yum.

I DON'T know what is all the hype about this restaurant. This is the first time I'd been fooled by the reviews on yelp :-(
I gave it a 3 star minus the service so I only gave it a 2 star.

We got the worse customer service.!! Some mid 50's man served us but was rude as hell!  He seems so tired he was going to pass out in front of us.,We ordered one 7 course beef $13.95 for 5 people along with a large pho, wonton noodle, a pork chop rice, egg roll, and charbroiled pork rice noodle. He said that we need to order 2 orders of the 7 course beef and it wasn't enough for us. I told him we are going to order all the other food too, he said still not enough and rolled his eyes!!! he seems so impatient with us. My sister asked him what was the noodles in coconut soup, he mumbled it;s just different and walked off!! We all looked at each other and coudn't belive what he just did!! It was upsetting but yet hilarious. LOL

First off, the 7 course beef was just a SAMPLING of 7 little beef dishes.
Course 1 is you get a small pot of water with onion to cook 3 slices of raw beef.
Course 2,3,4,5
You get a dish with four different beef that is already charbroiled.  The small plate include one big meatball styled filled with noodles, nuts, pepper. , two small tiny charboiled beef balls, three curled up charboiled beef, and two pieces of  kind of like grape leaves wrapped beef.  They bring you a plate of rice paper to soften in a bowl of hot water. You use the rice paper to wrapped with lettuce and beef.

Course 6 they bring out a dish with 3 slices of overcooked peppered beef covered with onions.

Course 7 is a small soup bowl of minced beef with rice soup.

The Pho was warm not hot, and the broth was too sweet, like honey tastes were added.

The eggroll was just ok.. wasn't the best we had before. Allthough they were bigger/ longer then usual size.

The porkchop rice was plain. Tasteless and underseasoned and too dry.
The Mi (egg noodle) was good but the noodle was not enough.

I was going to complain to the lady (owner's sister) instead I told her I was a food critic and they would receive my critic on their restaurant by fax.
............  THEN, they were really nice to us.. LOL

We grew tired of traveling to Bolsa for good Vietnamese food so i yelped for help a few months ago and Vietnam seemed worth a try. My wife is Vietnamese so her refined taste buds for this type of food would determine the outcome.

We were not disappointed. Are food was delivered hot and steamy. My wife had the Pho and i had the Bun Rieu and both had a plate of very fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and lime. This rating is really for the Bun Rieu which I have tried at many restaurants and Vietnam gets it right starting with a soup base that like a good wine is full bodied, add the shrimp and egg mixture, tomatoes and your almost there.  The saltiness level is minimized and for me this is critical because to complete my soup i need shrimp paste. Nirvana, and my wife concurred.

Throw in great service, good pricing, and a welcoming Owner and what more can you ask for.

This place is sort of new. But it's run by the same family as Golden Deli and Vietnam House. I think the owner is the son of Golden Deli's. This property had so many changes...it used to be a Thai restaurant...then another pho place or sumthing....etc.

Finally reviewing this place.

Anyways, I used to goto Golden Deli a lot but since this place opened, I come here now b/c it's closer and it's better.

*Place is newer and cleaner than Golden Deli.

*I never had to wait.....service is prompt. Golden Deli there is always a wait.

*Parking is never bad b/c there are so many spaces....it's next to a hospital clinic so lot of places to park.

*Food quality is the same if not better than Golden Deli.

*The best pho in San Gabriel Valley.

(sorry no pictures at the moment)

People use this term that goes "It's not the best I've had" and I go "Well, whats the best you have?" and the person goes "*silent*"

Exactly, this may be one of the places that will be the best you've had.

Its a small restaurant in San Gabriel and I absolutely fell in love with this place.

Everything was perfect when me and John came. They were so nice and this place was so lovely. I loved the simple decor. What's even better? It is cheap!

Normally people also say, you get what you pay for. But in this case, I disagree. You get more for what you pay for. More quality and quantity. Flavor is legit here. Egg Rolls are amazing.

Water is PERFECT. Perfect water means the food will be perfect as well.

Everything was great, I don't know what else to say about this place. I am in love and this is my favorite, FAVORITE, Vietnamese restaurant at the moment.

Cheap, delicious, friendly service, quality&quantity.

5 stars and more than a 10% tip.

This section of Las Tunas has become quite the "Pho Row"

Golden Deli, Vietnam House, Vietnam Restaurant, Super Bowl, and the newer Saigon Eden are all on this stretch of road.

It's hard to say V. Restaurant is the clear winner here based on taste. Let's face it, none of the above are slouches. I've had them all multiple times. Some of the more famous joints sort of speak for themselves (Golden Deli, V. House)

Still, ranks among the best in that regard.

So with that standard in mind, here's where Vietnam Restaurant earns points over the others.

Though not something anyone should really expect too much of at a pho house, the service here is a tad better-- criteria here is based on the fact that it's likely the only one where your water has a chance of being refilled without asking. It's happened.

Probably the cleanest of all listed.

And finally, it's my personal favorite right now as it actually has become the least expensive on "Pho Row", as Saigon Eden and V. House have both raised their prices recently. I stopped eating at G. Deli a while ago (too small, not worth the extra wait), and Super Bowl as well (something about the soup there makes me feel slightly queasy)

The 'worst' thing about this joint is the wonderfully generic name, which is all the more confusing with Vietnam House just around the corner.

Cheapest price + excellent pho = winner

We tried the Bò 7 món (7 courses of Beef), which was yummy and interesting to eat with friends. The waiter/owner/manager was nice enough to show us how to eat it the proper way, thought everyone else (all Vietnamese) in the restaurant had a grin on their face.

However, we weren't too impressed with the charbroiled pork & eggrolls with steamed rice (very dry) and the spring rolls (didn't taste very fresh).

would still like to go back to try other items though, they've got quite a selection, also they offer abundant parking behind

I came back to try the 7 courses of beef the other day. I saw some reviews about the huge portions so my bf and I ordered just 1 order of 7 courses of beef. We could not finish it..... It was our first time eating this stuff and couple of things were kind of strange to us, but overall was pretty yummy and the value was great. I still prefer to eat pho when I go to vietnamese restaurants (sorry I won't come back here for pho), but when I do have a craving for 7 courses of beef, I will probably just come here instead of yelping for another place.

The service was pretty ok. My bf and I had to ask the waiter how to eat the stuff and he kindly showed us. But there was a table in front of us with a baby and he was too bz playing with the baby and kind of forgot about us after that.

Oops forgot to write a review for this one. I just realized it when I was writing my previous for Anh Hong. This is my favorite place to go for 7 course beef. There is one course that I am not used to getting at other 7 course beef restaurant which is the grilled slice beef. I think this place has better flavor. Their mum is also better too, how do I know? cause my fingers will stink until the next day.

What can I say, I'm a complete addict to that nuoc cham sauce that you put on most Vietnamese dishes, and this resto definitely has good nuoc cham that I can drink, really. Besides that, their dishes are actually very good, fresh, and well-priced; I always order a combo of imperial rolls + shrimp "paste" + beef. And then you make your own lettuce wrap, dip (or drench) it in nuoc cham, and life just got tastier.

Worst Vietnamese food ever!!!  The waiter didn't seem to care for us to much, maybe because we had "non-Asian" people in our party.  I didn't really care because I don't go to Asian restaurants expecting good service.  Well, the food was horrible.  My friend ordered the Spring Rolls and the wrapper and noodles were dry like they made them the day before!  The sauce for them was tasteless.  I could have made them better myself at home!  The Pho was kinda bland as well at my broken rice with beef/pork.  The food was horrible, you're better off going to Pho 79.

I was pretty dissapointed in their seven course beef.

first of all you don't get to cook your own bbq beef as i have in other restaurants..

secondly, they didnt have the beef salad thing.. instead they had another beef sausage thing wich was pretty tasteless

third the beef mush that goes w/ the lobster chips did not break up easily like the last restuarant .. and was somewhat tasteless compared to what i had at the other restaurant

fourth the service was slow and we had to keep asking for water..

the only good was the porridge was WAY better than the last one i had..

overall this place's seven course beef is more bland. less taste... it doesnt measure up to the last place i went.. wich was hong an in garden grove.. i feel liek this place is less legit.. they didnt have peanuts.. or the same sauces..

i woudlnt recommend this place for their seven course beef.. you can find better elsewhere.. but it is a dollar or so cheaper here. but worth it somehwere else

Although I'll come straight out and say that this is a glowing review, I did only have the 7 courses of beef and a sandwich to go. I can't speak for the pho or the other things on the menu.

This was my first experience with bo 7 mon and I made it abundantly clear when I was haphazardly constructing my spring rolls. Michael Le, the owner actually teached me what to do and even gave a little background on each dish. I truly felt like he knew how to take care of his customers. Of course, the service and the decor are what you'd expect in any Vietnamese restaurant. Although they do accept credit card.

I would've been perfectly content having any one of the beef courses as a meal in itself. Having all seven together, I was stuffed. There is enough food in one order for two people, and all for just $14. On the way out, I bought a banh mi to go which tasted just as delicious as everything else. The key to the food was the variety in flavors, not just the fish sauce overpowering everything else. Although San Gabriel is a little far for me to drive for Vietnamese food, I would come back for the 7 courses of beef anytime.

Maybe I'm not a lover of Vietnamese food but I didn't find the 7 course beef to be as appealing as I thought it would've been as pointed out by the other Yelpers. (then again it could've been also because we've split it between 3 people total)

The Pho was like any other Pho I tasted....nothing too special...maybe I had too high of an expectation of this place....

Go for the seven course beef.

Seven course beef was delicious. My favorite of the seven was the beef porridge. That stuff is like comfort food. There were a few courses that were only meh -- like some of the meatballs (there were a lot of meatballs). I also want to mention the spring rolls. The first time I went, the Big J ate them all, so I had to come back to get some of my own. That's how good they are. One of my favorite Vietnamese dishes is the grilled pork over rice vermicelli, but the quality of the pork here isn't that great. It tastes like it was cooked yesterday and reheated.

Tips: One order of seven course beef can serve three people... or two hungry people.

For my 400th review I thought I would write about something special. Something that everyone can relate to on a universal level.

I'm talking about love. Amore. Liefde. Ai-ching.

You know that feeling you get. Butterflies in your stomach from anticipation in seeing your lover. Thoughts of longing and desire embodying your mind, your soul - your every being. Sweaty palms from the anxieties and nervousness of spending time with that special someone.

Well for me, that special someone is......... beef.

Yeah baby. The meat of a cow.

I have been dreaming of the 7 course beef from Vietnam Restaurant for weeks now. Damn people and conflicting schedules! Sure I could come here and finish an order happily on my own but what would be the point of that without any witnesses of my crowning achievement? I sure as heck couldn't count on the waiter to vouch for me...

One order of the 7 course beef is enough to feed two Yelpers with greedy tummies. Trust me when I say it's a lot of food. It's all pretty good except for a couple courses. I think I still prefer Anh Hong's version. But frack! It's all good! Beef served to you in seven different ways! Hot pot, sausage, meat ball, pate, porridge... How can you not fall in love? In deep, mouth-watering... meaty... love.

7 course beef Vietnamese style is all about wrapping your own spring roll. You get everything you need placed in front of you and you dig in.

So how do you know when it's true love?  When it's endured the test of time. I was a vegetarian for almost TWO WHOLE MONTHS lusting for meat in my mouth. If you love beef as much as I do, even a week is the equivalent to an eternity. I'm so happy to be running into the arms of beef again as a carnivore.

Beef, baby, I love you. And I'll never leave you again...

.

Five courses into my seven course beef dinner here I was stuffed. I still had two more courses to try and a trip to Donut Man in the wings, how was I supposed to eat all of this food? Well, I managed to taste every course and they were effing good, though as I waddled out of the restaurant I had no idea how this place could afford to charge just $13 for a seven course meal that fed two easily.

You get a different variation on beef with every course and they were all new to me, never having eaten Vietnamese food. The pate, long meatball wrapped in some kind of wilted leaf, and beef porridge were my favorites, though the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the sausage.

If you don't happen to  like meat, well I am sorry for you, but moving on, their menu is huge, so don't despair-there is something for you to eat here too!

This review is based on a first visit, so obviously need a greater sample size to firm up on rating.

I heard about this place based on yelp reviews as well as some of my Vietnamese friends that this is the place to go for good food, outside of Little Saigon.  So gave this place a shot on a rainy day in LA.  I got the Bun Rieu and eggrolls.  The Bun Rieu was pretty good - not as good as the one I've had at Pho Nguyen Hoang on Valley (latter had bigger chunks of crab omlets), but it's still very tasty.  The eggrolls were also pretty good - crispy and light, eat hot with lettuce wrap and spiced up fish sauce.

I will definitely hit up this place again soon, try their pho, before finalizing on rating.

Snap! Move me to the 626 now!!

Never being a huge fan of Vietnamese food, I fell in love last night - to the 7 course beef at VR. We were introduced by the beef fondu and it was a fine introduction. Sure, beef cooked in vinegar & onions. Show me something more exciting, please. The breathtaking rendezvous began when I made a spring roll out of it and dipped it in the fish sauce.

OMG the fish sauce! I was told that Vietnamese food is not about the quality (I mean there's a reason the food is so cheap) but it is about the flavors. I've never tasted fish sauce with so much flavor! I'm finally a convert. I needed the best of the best.

Next came the charbroiled beef salad, 4 more courses of beef, and ending with some heavenly beef porridge. I wrapped everything in spring rolls (except the porridge, of course) and was it my excitement or did they have the best rice paper ever? This rice paper was dry and needed to be dipped in hot water for each chewy spring roll. Perfect!

All this for $12.95!!! Almost every course came in 3s and can feed 2-3 people. I left waddling out the restaurant thinking of the best meal I've had in a long time and for less than $20 for 2 people with drinks!.

Everything about VR stands out. The service is top notch (water glasses always filled, waitstaff actually coming by and asking how you are doing). The restaurant is spanking clean. There's no skimping out on any ingredient. VR is everything that 99% of Vietnamese restaurants is not. Oh, best of all, NO WAIT!!!! At least not yet (crossing fingers).

Thanks a million, VR, for showing this prissy princess from Cerritos the amazingness of Vietnamese cuisine.

On yelp, I'm often misunderstood as a drunk or a lush..or a party animal...or at worst, a.............slut.  i'm really just the foodslut that likes to have a good time wherever i go.

So with that said, let me flash some street cred right.  Some Yelp street cred.  Looking for good Vietnamese in San Gabriel area? Skip Vietnam house.  Skip Golden Deli.  Make a "bee" line for VIETNAM!

Often times, I tell my friends, "the litmus test" for good MUM is the "belly button test".  What is it?  Haven't heard of it?

Step 1.  Stick right index finger into jar of MUM.  Pull out.
Step 2.  Stick left index finger into belly button...start picking.  Pull out.
Step 3.  Stick left finger into friend's/brother's nose..ask them to smell... expect reaction
Step 4.  Do the same with right finger.  Expect reaction.
Step 5.  Ask them if they can tell the difference.  "Which is mum? "

FOol them?

If they can't guess,  YOU GOT A WINNAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Vietnam's mum is that good!  Just look at my picha!

On all levels, this place is authentic.  Fresher ingredients.  Better service.  Similar dirty fish sauce and mum.  At the same price as  Vietnam house.  You can eat here everyday for 2 months and not eat the same thing!  If you haven't been, order the 7 course beef...it's enough for 2 people!

GO THERE SOON!  But please avoid Sunday mornings at 12pm..that's my joint and that's when the Foodslut is doing the Litmus test to random strangers.

I'm going to give it a 5 star for 1 reason:

I ONLY ORDER THE 7 COURSES OF BEEF!!!

This is absolutely the best place EAST & WEST of Saigon (I meant, HCM City) for the 7 courses of beef.  I used to be a fan of Anh Hong on Valley Blvd, until 5 years ago when I first frequented Vietnam Restaurant.

I'm not to sure about the other dishes as there's NO SUCH THING as a Vietnamese restaurant being good at everything.  They all have their strengths.  I've seen other people order Pho, Mi (egg noodle) and Bun (Cold noodles), but it doesn't look that great.  I know other places that make it a whole lot better.

There's a leaf/mint called rau rap ca (translated in Vietnamese it's a mint/leaf that tastes like fish).  If you have sophisticated taste buds I would definitely order an extra side of this mint.  It's extremely strong and is used in Chinese Medicine (I was shocked when I found that out).
I do prefer the mam nem (the grey/pugnant fish sauce) over the nuoc mam (the light brown) as it adds much flavor to the entire meal.

Thank you Yelp and Jonathan Gold for telling me about Vietnam Restaurant.

I had been a Golden Deli Patron for a long time, but then switched to Vietnam House when it opened across the street. But after Michael and Han left, I wasn't completely happy with the House anymore. It was still fine and I told people about it, but it wasn't the place that I had fallen in love with.

And that's when Yelp came to the rescue. A yelper quoted Gold about this place, and within an hour I was out the door. I got there on a Sunday about 3:30 and not surprisingly it was pretty quiet, but that gave me plenty of time to talk to Michael. The talking stopped soon after my order of Lot Leaf showed up. It was fantastic. The beef was hot and fragrant and the vegetable plate was very generous and contained many herbs that they do not serve at the other places including something oddly spicy that made my tongue tingle for quite a while.

A few days later I went there with my wife and she nailed why this is the place to patron: it is "brighter". She isn't just talking about the decor or color of the food (although brighter certainly describes them well) she was talking about the flavors. If you eat here I'm sure that you'll know exactly what she means.

Vietnam Restaurant for some reason sounds funny to me. " I'm going to Vietnam for dinner " or maybe its just me? That aside this place is great. The pho here taste amazing. The broth is on the light side, the beef is nice a tender, and the side vegetables are fresh. If you like egg rolls man o man are they good here too. They are crispy and taste great. If  you are in the San Gabriel area and you feel like pho this place is perfect.

The seven courses of beef was just average ($12.95 per order).  Nothing too impressive.

THE SEVEN sampling OF BEEF.
First, you get a pot of water with onion to cook three pieces of raw beef (COURSE ONE).  Then you get a dish with four different beef (COURSE TWO thru FIVE) that is already cooked or charboiled. The plate had one big meatball (filled with noodles, nuts, pepper, and other ingredients) , two small tiny charboiled beef balls, three curled up charboiled beef, and two pieces of leaf wrapped beef.  They bring you a plate of rice paper to soften in a bowl of hot water. You use the rice paper to wrapped with lettuce and vegetables along with the beef.  THEN they bring out a dish with 3 slices of peppered beef covered with onions that lay on top of lettuce (COURSE SIX).  Finally (COURSE SEVEN) is a small soup bowl of minced beef with rice/porridge.  Overall, it's a lot of food for one person.  If you haven't try this before, you should for the experience.

The pho was good ($4.95) and come out hot and tasty.

I noticed the prices for other items across the menu are CHEAPER then Golden Deli and other Pho places.  The drinks are very reasonable prices. For example, Pho dac biet (#1) was $4.95.

The service is not that great. They have a lot of people working, but very unorganized.  I had to ask for napkins, then ask for spoons, then ask for the rice sheets for my seven courses of beef, then ask for ... I stopped counting by then.  The floor was SUPER sticky and dirty.

My experience was just average.

My parents took me here a few months. This place has turned me into a fan and now I crave it all the time!  Great prices, great food, great portions.  The customer service is exactly what everyone has said.  I went with a friend recently who wanted to order an extra dish and the owner/waiter guy actually said, no you have enough.  Humm..I guess no left overs for us.

Tallying up my review votes, I've decided to be useful for once.

Apparently, the Charlies of Golden Deli decided to start a new venture just a couple of blocks up the street. So if you're sick of the long wait and crappy parking situation at GD, you might as well come here, where you will find the same exact menu and a shorter line.

The restaurant itself appears to be a converted house, with two cheaply renovated rooms set with clean tables and chairs. Our waiter was pretty nice (although I would suggest that he get a better hair stylist), and the service was a little slower than I'm used to. It doesn't take the usual 2 minutes to get your food, so I'm assuming the dishes are somewhat made-to-order.

My pho dac biet was satisfying, with enough meat, tendons, and tripe to reconstruct a baby cow. The fried egg rolls and grilled beef were also excellent choices, although I was a bit disappointed by the dry grilled pork and bland spring rolls. However, considering this spot is about 2 minutes closer to my house, it looks like the roomies and I have a new VC headquarters. Yes, we're really that lazy.

I've sampled many pho places in the San Gabriel Valley and this one is the best over-all, except for the beef stew.  At least, I didn't like the way they prepare it, I like mine made with tomatoes.  Besides that, I love this place, service is great and the food is excellent.  I visit at least once a week and the way I test whether a pho place is good or bad is to order the #1 pho to-go.  When you get home and the broth is still hot and the vermicelli easily separates in the soup means the vermicelli is prep'd right.  Attention to details ! ! !

Great food, great price, clean, the owner spoke fluent english

We went to Vietnam house few weeks prior with friends who never had vietnamese food.  They said food was ok but was impressed by the price. I had to agree with them.  Vietnam house's food was bit greesy for my taste and lacked flavor.

We had 7 course beef for $14 and Pho Tai for $5-6.  The bill came out $20.xx  It was enough food for 3-4 people.

Pho was not super big like some place but it was deli~sh
I should ask if there is a bigger size next time.

7 Course beef felt like i was actually eating 7 different course.  Some places i've been, it couldn't tell if there were 7 different kinds, but in Vietnam house, they were distinct.  Great portions of sides that came with the course filled our table up.  We couldn't believe they were charging only 14-15 bucks for all that.

My wife complaint that it did have as much MSG as other restaurants, but i was ok.  Didn't get that thirst for water after i ate. Definitely will bring our friend here.  I'm sure they'll be impressed
