This is a review for their Milk Tea with Jelly.

I don't know whether I should be excited to have somewhere right near me that sells Milk Tea or if it will turn me lazy. At one time I would have called this "Too Sweet" but I've been in Dallas for a while now, so I have been able to tolerate higher sweet contents.

One thing's for sure. It's flippin good. I am a milk tea connisuer, yep, I've had it all. Milk Tea. I don't usually care for boba drinks. Just milk tea. This stuff was good, vietnam style milk tea. Reminded me of that one store in Richardson. The portion is very small for the price and they didn't remember not to put too much ice in it, but it was good. I didn't have to go to Richardson. It's down my street. Yes, I live in the hood.

Highly recommend the Milk Tea with Jelly.

    That is all.

You know the food isn't great when there're few Asian customers. The menu offers a good variety but nothing tastes super-fresh. The pho was lukewarm both times I went, and the portions are less than generous compared to elsewhere (Richardson, Irving). I've also tried the pork porridge in hopes of a homey meal, but the various pork parts they threw in (liver, intestine?) tasted funny. And I'm someone who grew up embracing such Asian cuisine oddities.

The servers are nice but not very good at fielding questions about specific ingredients.

    Its redeeming qualities:
    - Location (proximity to city center)
    - TV screens that create a laid-back, buzzing ambience without the rowdiness of crowded sports bars. Very soothing, especially on a cold/rainy weekday evening.

    Love at first bite!

Some of the Richardson-Garland Vietnamese restaurants may have a slight edge over this homey, East Dallas neighborhood restaurant. But for me, the short 5 minute drive from home more than makes up for any slight difference in quality.

The $6.95 buffet could not be better. You might find "fancier" but, not better. From soup to desserts, all tasted like there must be a Vietnamese grandmother cooking in the kitchen. Not many buffet's have home made desserts.

I'm really looking forward to exploring the whole range of items on the menu.

Here's a quick update on the. Since the last review a year ago...

For me, this is the go to Pho place in Dallas. As mentioned, the Pho OK. Again, the soup doesn't have all of the intricate flavors you might expect. But in general, good, not oily, no MSG, and good portions.

What Vietnam has that is hands down the best that I've had in Dallas are the Vietnamese Egg Rolls. They aren't really Egg Rolls, but that's how they classify it. The wrapper is the rice wrapper and not that heavy thing you get at cheesy Chinese places. The only thing typically missing are the vermicelli noodles.

I had a rice plate, which was okay. But similar to the restaurant in general, everything is ok.

As others have mentioned, this has a good central location in Dallas, which is part of the appeal for me. I still haven't found overly authentic Vietnamese in the area yet, but maybe I just don't know where to go.

It's the best Pho I've had in Dallas and I frequent this place often for their Pho after work. The broth is amazing and large portions for relatively cheap. Their other food and bubble tea is just average so don't go if you don't like pho because that's what this place is great for.

I always get the special combination pho (always get pho as a rule! It's filling, tasty, and usually the best bang for your buck!), and this one was lacking in variety of meat, for the cheapest kinds were floating in it.

Compared to other pho restuarants, this place is more about feasting your eyes on the TV above every booth than your belly. The noodles were less than the aplenty norm, as the BF's slurping stopped before the usual time.

Service was very laid back, as the teenagers handing us our pho bowls would just go back to watching sports at the bar, chowing down their own grub.

6.50 for a Small, 7.00 for a Large, and 7.50 for an X-Large. Just get the large. If you come here.

Everyone was nice there and service was fast. Went to this restaurant because I was looking for a one with good Pho and found this place with some good reviews of their Pho.

But if according to Dallas Yelpers they have the best Pho in town, then Orlando's Pho  will be simple orgasm with every sip.

Their Pho was tasteless, I thought my mom was picky when she had this very unpleasant grumpy face while eating her Pho, so I tried hers and oh my, it was really bad, just tasteless!!

I got some Vermicelli with bamboo shoots and duck meat noodle soup, it was very tasteless, the duck tasted like something they cooked over and over again. Yuck.

So far..Texas's Pho is uncomparable to Floriad's Pho

Until I find one that's actually good.

My co-workers like to go to Green Papaya which is tolerable but I've been looking for a more authentic alternative.  Vietnam Restaurant is a convenient stop for Vietnamese food close to downtown but to say this place is good Vietnamese food, I beg to differ.

When you enter the restaurant, it's definitely not your typical homey Vietnamese restaurant.  It seems like the owners were interested in making it a nicer Vietnamese restaurant with a bar but the idea flopped -- you dont exactly get the feeling that the place is clean when you walk in.  Add to the equation that there is a lunch buffet that serves Vietnamese and Chinese food, weird place.

At lunch, it was busy but service was quick and friendly.  I ordered the eggrolls and pho to get a good feel of the quality of the restaurant. The eggrolls were large, but the wrapper was too chewy, the filing was decent but the chewy-ness of the wrapper kinda ruined the eggroll.  The pho broth was just ok.  It was the lighter type of broth, you could tell it was not cooked with bouillon cubes but it didn't pack a strong flavor either.  I was disappointed that they skimped on the meat, with barely even 5 pieces of meat.  The brisket was tough and still had the fat on, kinda lazy if you ask me.

Place might be decent for people who aren't familiar with good Authentic Vietnamese food but I would be embarrassed to take friends here.

I was going to take my mom to Mai's for her first experience trying pho but alas it was closed on Sundays....so I drove a little further down and went to Vietnam instead.  I am so glad I did!!  The broth was so fragrant and perfectly seasoned.  Tons of meat and noodles.  I would say this is my new favorite pho place in Dallas.

Haven't had much else off the menu just because the pho is so good!

I look forward to going back again and again.

Best Pho without leaving the confines of 635.

Solid, not great, but helpful to fix a craving for pho or bun if you live anywhere central.  Would you drive an extra hour, all in, to get better broth?  If the answer is no, then Vietnam has what you need: pho, bun, crepes and more.

I haven't tried their Banh Mi yet, but need to fix that.

You're probably like me. You're a 24 year old male who got a Bachelors degree in college and is working towards a post-grad degree in Bachelorism. When you're not building living room forts with discarded pizza boxes, you're adding to your pizza box collection, and man, that is one tall tower of Pisa. But pizza gets old sometimes. Sometimes you're tired of people cramming round things in square boxes.. you're ready to 'get outside the box' if you will.. And you discover VIETNAM.

author's note: Ok maybe you're not like me.

If there is one savory food that makes me willing to pack a knapsack and strike out for the DMZ on foot, the pho here is it. I would sleep in a Vietcong jungle tunnel and nosh down on Saigonian beetle larvae as long as you promised salty, sweet VIETNAM Pho to cleanse the palette afterwards. The broth is salty, the portions hefty, and it tastes good, good, good. Did I say it was good? It's good. Try the "special combination" of meats. I've had it twice in the last 4 days, if that's any indication of its merit.

Likes: the price is typical (and great), and the nominal size increases are extraordinarily affordable (6.50 for small, 7 for large, 7.50 for extra large. A dollar difference between Small and Extra Large? Yes Please).

Dislikes: After leaving my pho in the refrigerator for a couple of hours, what I believe were the MSG/preservatives started to congeal into solid particles. Still delicious, but not too appetizing to know that yes, there was solid sodium going into my body. You're welcome, kidneys. For this I docked the review 1 star from my original 6 out of 5.

The pho here is not only reasonably priced but, the atmosphere is casual enough for a third or later date or , a chill low key dinner with friends. Also their stir fry is amazing, however the appetizers are extremely small but easily the same price as the pho so; economically it makes no sense unless your appetite is small don't even bother.

    Pho-king right!

Had a huge craving for pho and being new in this city, I didn't know where to go so I hit up yelp for help.  Ordered the special combination extra large pho and 2 orders of pork spring rolls to go.  The pho broth was tasty and delicious.  Had a very flavorful and clean taste with a nice spiced aroma.  I  could probably drown in a pool of this broth and die happy.   The spring rolls on the other hand was just downright sad.  They used the crappy iceberg lettuce instead of the usual green leaf lettuce you find in most spring rolls.  There were barely any meat, no cucumbers, and lots of vermicelli noodles.  The peanut dipping sauce is too overly sweet also.  I'm definitely a fan of their pho so far.  I'm going to give their chicken pho a try next time.

I've eaten here for breakfast for the past 3 weeks.  The pho is delicious, and the large bowl is enormous.  I've also had a vermicelli bowl -- it came with grilled pork and eggroll, and I asked them to add grilled meatball.  Instead, they added this spicy red pork that was a) identified on the check as "nem" and b) amazingly delicious.  I want to make a woman out of nem and marry her.
Pleasant service, nice atmosphere, and great food at a pretty good price for downtown Dallas.

I am a big fan of Vietnam's Chicken Pho. Their Pho is like the Asian chicken noodle soup that my non-existent Vietnamese grandmother made me when I was a kid. A big bowl of their Chicken Pho can pick me up out of the doldrums.

I tried to branch out on my last visit. At the recommendation of the waiter, I tried the "Special Combination" Pho. It was interesting-good, but not good-good. It was layered with a variety of meats, all of them an unappetizing gray. The strips of brisket were delicious. I may have to try the brisket Pho next time. There may be a universal "Everything tastes better with . . ." truth about brisket similar to the one about bacon. The rest of the meats would have raised the eyebrows of the most jaded and cynical high school lunchroom cook.

I also tried the fried pork egg rolls. Serviceable, but not worth the calories.

Four stars for Chicken Pho. Three for the "Special Combination."

Had I sat down and dined like a normal person, I think I would have liked this place even more. That is not to say the chicken Pho to-go was not phantastic! I live to eat pho and eat to live pho! The smooth, warm, and flavorful broth perfectly contrasting with the crunchy bean sprouts and soft rice noodles just makes my day. And now, I have found yet another great restaurant that has mastered the pho craft.

The East Dallas location of the restaurant is exactly what you'd expect. Reflective of the neighborhood, there is an array of different styles and cultures going on. As I took a look around the room I noticed hipster kids enjoying pho, I noticed a middle-aged man happily eating solo, and a fun, chatty group of girls out on a 'girls night.' Kind of random, but exactly what East Dallas is all about. Then I thought, there must be one common interest among these guests? Good Vietnamese food. You know it's good when it attracts demographics from all over.

Their menu is not that extended. Well, maybe the Pho menu was all I saw? If that is the case, they have several beef Pho selections and only one chicken. womp womp. The interior of the restaurant is another story. I will just say I don't think people frequent here for the ambiance and that is just phine! The service was efficient and pho helpful!

Got the seafood pho. It had the little fishy meatballs that I love, and was exactly what I wanted. The banh mi was average but super cheap. I think Mai's beef pho is a little better, it's more potent and a little thicker without being oilier. The condiments were better here.

Service was kind of confusing, we were asked if we were ready to order three times by three different people, not sure if we were being rushed or if whichever waiter got us won a prize, but they all were anxious to get our order. After that, everything returned to normal, and the guy working the cash register was very friendly and informative. Good meal, decent bar. Not the best interior but they seem to do a lot of different things there.

Skip the lunch buffet, it isn't very interesting or Vietnamese and their pho is too good.

I wish they had like, a bottomless bowl of pho, or a pho buffet (both of the broths with everything else on the side so you can mix and match to make your own personal pho bowl, adding all the accoutrements along the way;) or if they had a vermicelli or rice bowl base stuff and all the rest down the line. As is they have a few stirfries which I found underseasoned, some lo mein-esque veggie noodle mix, several fried spring rolls and one chicken broth based soup, "wake up soup", which was delicious but simple, and made up the bulk of my meal when I had the buffet.

I had the chicken pho on my previous visit, and I will stick to the menu the next time I stop by during lunch.

I wish there were more good Asian restaurants knocking on my door. Since I moved to Dallas, I've had a hard time finding a good pho place. Search no further! Vietnam is delicious and savory! It's not "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" but better than any other Vietnamese establishments that I have stumbled upon in some time.

The lunch buffet is good too, but also not "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" The staff is awesome. We walked into the restaurant once as their buffet hour was coming to a close, but they still made fresh food for the buffet just for us! If only the buffet had more variety, less grease, and more desserts, they  may have just graduated from "Yay! I'm a fan."

I usually truck it up to Saigon Block in Richardson to satisfy my Vietnamese cravings, so I was thrilled to find a great Vietnamese place close to downtown. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient on a Friday night. Shrimp spring rolls were good - not overstuffed with vermicelli like at some other places. The Sig. O actually ate himself sick on the meatball pho, and I ate every last bite of my bun cha. I am a bun cha junkie, and it looks like I found myself a new dealer.

I will note, as did at least one other Yelper, that the atmosphere is ... a little odd. The restaurant is two large rooms. You enter through the first, where I guess they have the buffet set up during lunch (it was empty for dinner). But there's all sorts of papers and other junk piled on the tables in there. What the what?? Like the other Yelper, I was struck with momentary panic that they were going to try and seat us in there. Fortunately, they didn't and instead lead us into the second room where the bar and flat screens are located. Strange, but I'll be back for sure.

Attention Pho-lovers: I hate to tell you, but this was not a great example of Pho. I have had Pho in many cities across this country, and I'm definitely not impressed by Dallas' idea of Pho. This is the second place I've had Pho, and I found both to be watery, lacking in flavor and aroma, and generally lacking taste.

I also didn't order a greasy film to be floated on top.  Yuck.

When I'm in the mood for pho I usually hit up Pho 95, but it's a little bit far of a drive if I'm hungry and I wanna eat NOW.  Vietnam is just a hop, skip, and a jump away so we go there on occasion to satisfy that craving.

I am a pretty bare bones pho person.  I always get a small pho tai.  My husband likes to experiment with the meats (heh) but I'm pretty predictable.  Their pho tai kinda sucks.  The meat is always tough and overcooked.  The noodles are fine but their broth is not my favorite either.  By the time I add my usual sriracha, 5 slices of lime, and an entire garden worth of plants, it tastes fine but I'm always disappointed in the quantity and quality of the lean brisket.  Maybe I should try something else but I think I'd rather just make the trek to Pho 95.

However, they have some crispy fried pork eggrolls that are REALLY tasty, so that's usually what convinces me to come here.  Also service is pretty good most of the time, if you ignore the usually sticky tables.

We generally drive to Richardson or Plano to eat good Vietnamese food, but today we decided to go eat somewhere close to home to avoid the drive since it was a weekday. We got there pretty early so parking wasn't a huge problem for us, but I can see it being a challenge to others as the space there is quite limited.

When I opened the door and walked in, I found myself in their buffet room which was empty of people, but full of clutter (papers, junk) all over their tables. As I found that a bit odd, I was also praying to myself in hopes that they don't make us sit in this room. My prayer worked as we were seated in the room adjacent to the messy room which was a bit more lit up and had tv's and a full bar.

The service overall was descent. The wait staff is quite attentive to your needs to make sure the food is ok, etc. But at the end of the day it is the quality of the food that counts. We ordered Chicken Spring Rolls to start with. The rolls were loosely wrapped and it felt like they wrapped sandwich meat in it. I wouldn't recommend their spring rolls to anyone.

My wife ordered a Large Meatball Pho. She felt the broth was quite bland and lacking of any real flavor. It was funny to watch her eat because she put soy sauce in her broth. That was a first for me to see someone add that to their Pho so it was quite amusing to watch. I on the other hand ordered Chicken stir fried in Lemongrass with Vermicelli. My food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything spectacular either.

Given the quality of food and their price for a bowl of untasty Pho, I don't think we would be going back here again unless we have no choice or we start hearing some really good things about them. Hope this review helps someone!

This place is great.  It's tough to find hole inn the wall places in Dallas, especially ones for vietnamese food.  I go here probably once or twice a week, so I have started to get a good feel on everything.

First, I'll start with the service.  Majority of the time they are very quick and helpful.  Sometimes when it is very slow, they'll look at you when you walk in while they are preparing food outside, and it takes them a minute to get up and help.  But once you are at the table, service is fast.  Overall, I'd give the friendliness and speediness of the service 8 out of 10.

Next is the food.  I've tried almost everything -- the pho, vermicelli, banh mi (sandwiches), soups, etc.  My favorite is the pho, but that's just a personal preference.  As goes with most hole in the walls, the meat is usually cooked well.  There have been times when I've gotten some old/overcooked meat where it is slightly chewy, but that's just because I've gone often.  The spring rolls are delicious -- good clean taste and the shrimp is cooked well.  The fried egg rolls are interesting, as they are friend differently than most other vietnamese places (more of a tempura fried than a regular fried). Everything else is pretty on par or above par with most good vietnamese places that you've been to.  They also have a lunch buffet that's kind of like a chinese and vietnamese spread of food.  I haven't tried that yet, but I've heard form all my friends it's great!

The intangibles are also great, EXCEPT the parking, which is hard during weekday lunches.  But they redecorated the inside, adding a few more TVs and changing up the look of the inside room.  It's got a clean look, but still the hole in the wall feel.

Anyway, this could be a little bias just because I'm obsessed with pho.  But if you want some good vietnamese close to uptown/downtown, this is the place to go.  Love it!

So...food is good, boba drinks are yummy (try the honeydew), and all the flat screens are perfect for game nights, but this place could be a bit cleaner. It's become our go to place for pho and banh mi cravings, but yeah...I admit I pull out the Purell every time and also take a close look at the little condiment plate to make sure it's clean before using it. Oh, one amusing detail: husband swears they water down their sriracha...same taste, just watery.

Let me start off by saying I'm Vietnamese.

It's tough to find good Vietnamese food in Dallas, especially in the downtown/uptown area. This place is as authentic as you can get in the area. The pho is great, the egg rolls are authentic (not that frozen crap you'll find at other places), the banh mi is pretty authentic and is like $2.50 for a whole loaf.

The service is good and quick. At most authentic Asian places, it's more about quickness than it is service.... if that makes sense. I haven't experienced bad service, I'll say that.

This is my go-to spot for quick Asian food in my area. Too bad they don't deliver :)
When I'm in the mood for pho, this place is the place to go. They've actually renovated a lot and added a full bar (no idea why?) and cleaned it up a bit. They have like 12 flat screen TVs as well which doesn't seem necessary but whatever!

My friends and I hit this place up probably at least once a month, sometimes more.

Pho cravings are dangerous. They come out of no where and don't subside until you get your hands on it. After days of craving pho, I finally grabbed an adventurous co-worker that has never had Vietnamese food and we headed over to Vietnam Restaurant (what an original name).

The pho has a flavorful broth, not too oily, and a decent amount of meat. My only wish was that the soup came out piping hot. It adds to the overall experience - not to mention, warms you up on a cold Dallas day. The side toppings plate with bean sprouts, basil, etc. came with slices of lemon -- I usually prefer lime. My co-worker had the grilled pork vermicelli and raved about it.

Credit cards accepted. Even Amex. [unusual for asian places]. All and all, the meal was a success. And now I've found my go-to place for pho when I'm craving it at work.

Well, after seeing that they have 95 reviews I thought, what more could I possibly say. But... everything that came to the table was amazing and I'm now a must return customer.

So to add value I'll tell you its no longer BYOB... they have beer and wine for now and possibly plans to expand that in the future.

    One word - PHO!

This is my wife and I's place for pho.  It's made it hard to go elsewhere for pho as we feel like we are cheating on our favorite Vietnamese restaurant!

This place is certainly nothing fancy as compared to a lot of places in Dallas.  Although, it is good home cooked Vietnamese food.  You'd be silly to come and not have the pho.  The broth is delicious with plenty of different types of meat to add to it.  The meatballs are great as well for the pho.  With all the condiments - red sauce and black sauce, etc. makes for a prefect meal.  It's similar to an Asian style chicken noodle soup.

We've been there multiple times before and never have had a bad meal or dish of pho.

Whether or not your a fan of pho, you should give this place a try.  It's not much of an intimate place to eat but has great comfort food to sooth!
