Two words: HOT DAMN!

Now I haven't tried any of the pho, or "7 courses of beef" (though I'm DYING to try!), but I can definitely say that Vietnam House certainly cooks up some serious shit!

First off, the EGG ROLLS. The size of these golden monsters totally eliminates the typical stereotype about asians and their... uhh. yeah.

But don't underestimate Asians. Their egg rolls wrapped in lettuce and other veggies dipped into the fish sauce = OMGWTFAMAZING.

Now some may disagree with me, but ICGAF about them, really.

I really dig the charbroiled pork with steamed rice here. The shrimp paste can get a bit rubbery, so that's not really a favorite.

One day I will hope to exploit the infamous orgasmic wonders of the 7 courses of beef and some good bowl of Pho. I got time still, right? Hah... not really.

Vietnam House is sort of the ugly step child among the three sister Vietnamese restaurants on Las Tunas (Golden Deli, Vietnam Restaurant, and this place).

Food: Meh. Really, the biggest selling point of GD and VR are their egg rolls, but VH's version isn't the same at all. These rolls aren't as tender on the inside and don't have the same peppery spices (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). The wrapping is also not paper thin and as crispy. They do give you the same kind of dipping sauce, though there aren't as many veggies inside. I ordered the curry which looked wholly unappetizing when it arrived (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). It did taste better than appearance suggested; the chicken was flaky and moist and the sauce was pretty flavorful. I didn't enjoy how slapped together it was. I had to pick out a lot of inedible things from the mish mash. Also, I think they give you less greenery here for some reason.

Atmosphere: This place is larger than both GD and VH and tastefully decorated with a lot of plants. I felt as if it was cleaner than the other two restaurants.

Service: They get tons of business so it seems they have a clipboard you need to sign when you arrive. It seemed to take forever to get the check, but the service was good otherwise.

Synopsis: I didn't find anything remarkable about this place although it has the same feel of the ever awesome Vietnam Restaurant and Golden Deli. If only they could perfect their egg rolls...

What's this I hear that this place is owned by the same peeps across the street at Golden Deli but the wait isn't nearly as bad? You bet I had to come check this place out! My friend gave this place rave reviews so it pushed me that much more to try it out since he has such great taste (sarcasm).

We came around 7PM on a Sunday and I noticed a few parties were sitting at the front waiting for a table. The wait wasn't too bad though. People got tables maybe after a 5-10 min. wait. I guess this one waiter, which I'm assuming goes by Kevin, is the one everyone talks about it. He was hilarious! I ordered a pho w/ beef, tendon, and tripe with NO onions and cilantro. When he brought it over, he said "pho w/ extra onions?" I had an eggroll in my mouth but I looked at him with big googly eyes and was like, "ExCUSE me?" That's when he started laughing and I knew he was messing around.

The eggrolls were decent. It tastes just like Golden Deli just more oily. They are probably a tad bit bigger in size though. The pho was nothing extravagant or over the top like my friend made it out to be. The broth itself wasn't bad at all, but nothing stood out. I will say that they give a lot of the meat here. I was already stuffed and I was able to fish out a ton of beef and tripe. I didn't even finish my pho because the portions were so generous.

Next stop? Vietnam Restaurant. I definitely won't be going to Golden Deli anymore. Why sit there and wait when I can get the same exact thing across the street?

This place is awesome and would be my Pho place if I hadn't known about Golden Deli just across the street but most of the time this place would be their go to place, ugh I guess this would be my 1b. Great food and cheap, I can never pass up a deal.

Great place.

Had #2 beef pho ($5.15) and #12b chicken pho ($5.15). The broth for the chicken pho had a clean taste but still flavorful.. Both were good. The service is great.

We had Kevin the waiter with his funny jokes, earrings, and wild hair. I can see how he can rub people the wrong way, but we enjoyed him. Keep an open mind.

At 3/4 the price of golden deli across the street and the same quality of food,  why would anyone go to Golden Deli?

So much variation, I can't even remember what all 7 are.

Come here almost once a week!  The soup base is great.  The 7-taste beef course is interesting.  You can order for sharing or as an entree.  If you like any item, you can order it individually.  Although they've raised the prices this year, still worth it.

The overall of the restaurant is not so bad, but need more imrpovments in the neatness of the bathroom, and the service.

The food itself is great, delicious.
Came here for diner with family and enjoy our time together.
I will definitely give the restaurant another try when I'll be in the area.

So, I guess this place has some drama. The food and service was better with the previous owners & staff (who up and left to start their own restaurant down the street).

ACROSS the street is Golden Deli, a smaller restaurant famous for it's pho. Word on the Asian grapevine is that the previous owners of Vietnam House moved house to open another one down the street due to a family feud, calling the new one "Vietnam Restaurant" -- which I highly recommend -- but that's a different post.

Rundown: Vietnam House (brother in law), Golden Deli (sister), Vietnam Restaurant (brother). All within a couple blocks of each other.

Regardless of the changes of owners and staff, though, this is still a great place for good, cheap Vietnamese food. I come for the pho ($5-$7), 7 course beef ($15), and rice dishes ($5-$7). The drinks are pretty good, too.

I like: that you wrap your own 7 courses of beef, don't get charged for sharing, and can order to-go

I dislike: the service; more business, less friendly. the thirstiness i feel after eating the pho.

Pluses: the 7-course beef can easily feed 3-4 people. Don't be afraid to ask for more lettuce or veggies to wrap your beef rolls -- "refills" on the veggies are included. The first step is to dip the rice paper into hot water to make it soft and malleable (ask for new hot water if it gets cold). Pile on with a selection of beef/veggies, and roll 'em up!

All in all, If you're craving some authentic, cheap, delicious Vietnamese food, you've got 3 family-run, highly rated restaurants within a 1-block radius-- so this street is definitely the place to go! Check out Vietnam Restaurant for better tasting, cheaper food, though.

Came here for dinner as a "going away" party of sorts with some friends.

Service was typical, spotty.  There was a large table next to us celebrating a toddler's first birthday and it was so cute as the baby was just sitting there on the table blankly staring at his cake, with his whole family hoping he'd somehow figure out to blow out the candles.  To no avail, someone in the family had to do it for him.

Anyway, I didn't really feel like pho, even though the colder than usual for a mid-June evening called for something soupy.  I decided to get one of the broken rice dishes.  I got the one with pork chops, shredded pork, and that Vietnamese steamed egg dish that comes with it as well.  I liked it.  What do you expect from a pho restaurant?

Consistency.  It may not be the most gourmet meal you'll find, but consistency is key.

So I was craving for banh xeo and decided to look up some Vietnamese restaurants that are good..and I ran across Vietnam House. Not just it has 100+ reviews but 4 stars too! Hmm, it must be REALLY good right? WRONG! Or it could be me ordering the wrong stuff too...who knows? I'm assuming this place has really good 7 beef courses cause that's what majority of the people ordered. I guess I should have ordered that too but I wanted banh xeo so yea. They might as well call themselves 7 Beef Courses instead VN House.

Anyway, let's just say it was the WORST banh xeo I've ever had. I thought the one near my house was bad but this place is just horrible! They overcooked my banh xeo so everything was soggy. The flour, meat, bean sprouts...everything! I was still hungry afterward...........so if you ever come here, DO NOT GET THEIR BANH XEO. Period.

Oh yea, we had an awkward moment with the man/waiter toward the end. We asked for the check and he brought it to us. The total was $14 and my friend paid $20...I guess he already predicted that my friend was gonna put down $20 so he gave back the change RIGHT THEN and there. Yea that was smart but dang...did he really need to do that? Not just that but he was just standing there and waiting for tip. We can't just leave it on the table or what? I thought that was RUDE. EHH parking was a hassle too...everything in there is "10 Minutes Parking" ONLY...you'll hit jack pot if you find one that's not..

Wasn't as good as I was told.
Maybe I went in with really high expectation as I was told this is "really really good".
Anyhow, I've ordered a grilled pork, shrimp paste egg roll bun, the whole thing was a bit on the salty side for me.
Parking was alright as I was there on a weekday.
Staff are very friendly.

Sigh, this used to be my go-to Vietnamese restaurant until they changed owner & staff about a year ago. They were shady too when I asked where did the previous workers went, telling me that they went on "vacation". psshh.

I miss them, they were friendlier, better service, better food, cleaner...they knew me and it was always a nice experience. Does anyone know what happened???

I tried really hard to like this place, the pho, seven course beef, and rolls just isn't the same. Plus the service really sucks. I don't even come here anymore, it's not worth it.

BOOOOOOOO!!!! it's not good anymore!!

Went for my bday. Wanted something for a special occasion so I ordered the "7 Courses of Beef". It was a fun experience but in the future, I will stick to the old standbys of egg rolls, rice plates, vermicelli, or pho.

One tip, if you don't like shrimp paste too much, exchange it for grilled shrimp.

Good Food and Reasonable Prices

I came here at the suggestion of one of my buddies who lives close by. There were four of us. Here's what we ordered:

1. Banh Canh Tom Cua Thit Gio Heo-My buddy said it was pretty good.
2. Fried Pork Chop-My buddy said itwas pretty good.
3. Pho-My buddy said it was pretty good.
4. I ordered the Banh Tam Bi- Rice Noodle with shredded pork and
coconut milk. I love coconut milk!
http://www.yelp.com/bi...

All the dishes were priced around 6 bucks and under. They added tax.

The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly. This place is A-OK. I think I do prefer places in Bolsa over here. But, if I am in the area, I probably would stop by again.

The bathroom was suitable for washing your hands. Plenty of parking.

I come here for 2 reasons:
1) Golden Deli across the street is too crowded
2) I'm really in the mood for beef.

First off, the pho here is good. Its owned by the same people that own Golden Deli so you know its going to be good.

But the main attraction at this place is 7 Courses of Beef. Its been a while since I've had it but I remember it was good. And its creative. I thought that it would just be too much beef, but they way they prepare it makes the beef interesting in different ways. If you haven't tried it yet, go try it! Don't go alone for this though. It will serve 2-3 people and is pretty cheap when split.

I went here last night with husband to satisfy his pho craving. We left a bit late, and got to Alhambra around 8:50pm. We thought we would have made it to Pho 79 with 10 minutes to spare. Nope!! They closed early! They were supposed to close at 9pm, and we got there at 8:50pm and they closed!!

So, we drove down Las Tunas looking for any pho place and saw Vietnam House to be still open. Yay!!!

We went in, and turns out they close at 9pm too. But they're willing to wait for customer to actually close AT 9pm. Not earlier.

The food came out fast, and the service was good. I was well aware that they were close to closing time and wanted to go home, but the service did not go down. They also started cleaning up a little bit and put all the chairs on top of the tables, but they don't do that to the tables closest to us or other customers. I really appreciate that. No one wants to eat while staring at the bottom of a chair.

The soup was pretty good. A little sweeter than I'm used to. I guess no matter how annoyed I got at Pho 79, their soup is still my favorite. But I do recommend Vietnam house for their pho and their service.

Someone please tell me what the difference is between this place & Golden Deli. Seriously, they have the same menu.

Anyway, I come here when Golden Deli is packed. My only problem with this place is this one waitress. She was great until it came time to pack up my left over curry & rice. She wouldn't let me pack it myself & she wouldn't let me pack it together, which kind of pissed me off. The next day, just like I knew would happen, my rice was dried out & my curry had congealed. Eff you, crazy lady! Yeah, I know I'm white, but I know what I like!

This is one of the biggest pho restuarants I've ever been to.  The decor definitely is not meant to impress, but on a Saturday afternoon it was still packed, with a line out the door.  It took our party of 4 about 20 minutes to be seated - but once we ordered everything came out pretty fast.  All the rice platters and vermicelli bowls come with big heaping portions.  The egg rolls and baked egg both get two thumbs up - moist and flavorful.  http://www.yelp.com/bi... This place is known for something called "7 courses of beef" - which sounds way to beefy for me, but I did see other people enjoying it.

Parking is a pain because this lot gets very crowded from other stores in the plaza, and lots of spaces are marked off for the liquer store next door.

This is one of the better pho places in the SGV.  The restaurant is big, so even if there's a line, it goes pretty quickly.  I always get the beef and beef tendon pho, and it's always superb!  They let you substitute the noodle with other kinds (like glass noodle), so you don't always have to stick with the regular white pho noodle.  The baked egg is also delicious.  I especially like the service here..always quick and very friendly.

One of the best cheap meals out there!!

Once upon a time there was a fair princess named Edgar. Edgar had a wicked stepmother named Hunger, who one day banished Edgar into the wilderness without food to eat.

Edgar cried and cried. Little forest animals with big innocent eyes came into the clearing where Edgar sobbed, and for a moment, Edgar thought of grabbing one of those critters and taking a bite of them the way that Ted Nugent would, but Edgar didn't want to get scabies or rabies or... anything else that ended in "-abies," so Edgar didn't.

Then out of the darkness, Edgar heard a jaunty whistling. Edgar wiped the tears from his eyes and what did Edgar see? Was it seven dwarves with mining tools? Nay! It was the Seven Courses of Beef at Vietnam House!

There was that one beef dish that was delicious... and that other one that was just as delicious... and Dopey... and Blitzen... and Brigitta... and... um...

Edgar's heart filled with happiness. Edgar laughed and pranced around the clearing, grabbing course after course of the beef goodness and stuffing Edgar's face. Oh happy mastication. And did any of the courses object? No! In fact, they gladly jumped into Edgar's belly. Edgar tried to sing the way that other fairy tale characters would at such a moment, but food came spewing out, so Edgar stopped.

When the wicked stepmother Hunger heard about Edgar's happiness, she got angry. But with the help of the Edgar's new friends (who were now being digested in Edgar's belly), Edgar was able to vanquish that horrible, horrible woman and Edgar was able to get the happy ending that Edgar truly deserves.

The end... or is it?

(P.S. Thanks for introducing me to this place, Judy W.)

So many 3-4-5 star reviews and all I can say is: probably the worst I've ever had.

This is definitely not a vegetarian friendly restaurant.  I suppose many of the true authentic Vietnamese joints aren't but they usually have at least 1-3 solid options.

Vietnam House was empty.  Not the long wait described in other reviews.  This was Friday night at 8p.m.  The staff mediorce.  The ambiance- OK.- very bright and above average for the price point.

Now for the food:  the tofu rolls (goi cuon) were the worst I've ever had.  Usually they come with pork and shrimp and many places give you the option of just shrimp or tofu.  The wrap was thick, chewy and left us not wanting any after one bite.

My friend had the pork over vermicelli noodles  (Bun Thit Nuong) with fried egg rolls.  The meat was bland and rolls- xtra greasy.

I had charbroiled shrimp over vermicelli noodles (Bun Tom Nuong) .  They were both cold and tasted as if it been in the fridge for the day.

The vegetarian crepe with bean sprouts, mushroom and coconut milk was alright.  It lacked flavor.

The dessert was alright (Che 3 Mau)- the mung bean and red beans were good but the jelly tasted a bit off along with the coconut milk that tasted watered down or mixed or just not sweet or thick.

The best part of our meal was my lemonade (it was fresh and not too tangy) and a Tsingtao beer.

Not worth a trip to Alhambra.

Vietnam House. Another member of the pho family on Las Tunas Blvd.

Out of the three : Vietnam Restaurant, Golden Deli, Vietnam House. This place is the last ranking.

It's not because it's not good....it's above average but doesn't compare to the quality of Vietnam Restaurant or Golden Deli.

One reason is b/c Vietnam House adds a shitload of MSG to the pho soup.
Other pho places do the same....but this place probably 10X more.

Everytime I order pho....10 minutes after I leave...I feel like passing out from massive food coma.

Food is above average and service isn't as great as other places.

I'll stick w/ VIetnam Restaurant.

I have learned through the years that my brother has excellent taste.  He has an excellent and discerning palate but is not snobby.  So when he said that we should go have Vietnamese food at this place and he'd already ordered the fish, we said, "GREAT!"  We went as a big group that included my grandmother, my aunt, mom, dad, brother, son and a handful of friends.  Between all of us we got 2 orders of the 7 Courses of Beef and a couple of phos.  The beef was good, the highlights being the grilled courses (especially the baked meatball, satay, and grapeleaf wrapped.  The phos were good too!  But I wanna talk about the fish.

The fish that came to our table was straight out of the PBS special "Okie Noodling II."  I swear, that catfish was probably a good 5 lbs. and it was only the Medium/Small.  Baked to an insane, crispy skinned perfection.  It was practically butterflied (but with backbone and head/tail attached as is traditional for most Asians), it had a complicated topping that included peanuts, fried lard (DELISH!), green onions, cilantro and probably a couple other things I missed.
The accompaniments were plentiful and only added to the deliciousness.  How can you refuse copious amounts of rice wrappers, vermicelli, 3 sauces (shrimp paste based, fish sauce based and a third one that was super sweet), table salad (mint, cilantro, rauram, shiso, green lettuce, mung-bean sprouts, cucumber, green banana, pickled daikon and carrot.  You just dip your rice wrapper in hot water and start assembling FAST.  Grab a piece of fish, some lettuce, a little mung bean, a little banana, cilantro, rauram, mint and then roll it up and dip it in your favorite sauce (I chose the shrimp paste based). The fish was succulent and delicious with or without everything else.  It's not recommended for anyone afraid of fish bones, but if you're down, you gotta try it (with 10 of your friends).

It was so good, we went the next day for lunch.  You have to order the fish 45 minutes ahead of time and they'll give you a large table because the accompaniments are so plentiful.  For lunch we also got a bun kho (cold rice vermicelli) with shrimp paste, grilled pork and spring rolls.  It is one of my favorite summer lunch dishes and this one did not disappoint.

I'm going to make it a point to come to this place every time I'm in town.  That fish is still haunting me...

I need a place like this up in the Berkeley area...

I've been here several times and also had the seven courses of beef, several times as well. The taste of the broth in the pho is flavorful, almost like soup rather than just water. That's how it started out when the family of Golden Deli Restaurant took over this place. Since Yelp, I've been trying many other places until I realized writing updates is now an option.

I've returned here with some friends for the seven courses of beef. You can order each dish a la carte or in a big combo. They say it would feed 4, but seriously, you're talking to a table of Yelpers here. So we ordered another combo, same order. This was good but it seemed it was lacking something this last time. I couldn't put my finger on it but look for my review later at Vietnam Restaurant. Something has changed and I believe the recipe moved down the street. I'll tell you about it later on.

There's a LOT of variety here.  Lots of places offer several choices, but this one offers much more.  All of which are good.  But the ones that are a must have are: Yes, get the 7 Courses of Beef, and if not in the mood, the rice dishes are good and filling too.  But whatever you order, can't go wrong.

Recently there was a server who might be new (haven't seen him before) who was very humorous and the experience so pleasant.

When my Danish cousins were about to fly away from us, we decided to take them to Vietnam House in San Gabriel so that we could tentalize them with this one last memory of a good Vietnamese meal. My family and I go to Vietnam house regularly whenever we crave some good Viet grub, and since it's roomier than Golden Deli across the street, it's a little easier to find a place to sit here for our large groups, and the food in my opinion is almost as good.

Vietnam House is not too shabby for pho' and when we crave it, Vietnamese 7 course beef (Bo Bay Mon).

Parking is rough here. Just circle and circle until you find a space.

My cousins ordered the Com Thit Nuong (rice with grilled pork), pictured above, while my brother ordered Com Cha Thit Nuong, which is essentially the same as the above but with some Vietnamese quiche added. I've had both here before and have always loved them.

They make their Suong Sa Hot Luu, pictured on the left, the way I like it, with lots of mung beans, tapioca strips and mock pomegranate pieces, and the juice is not overly sweet. The Soda Xi Muoi (Salted plum in soda) is always perfect here.

I ordered the Pho Tai Sach Bo Vien, which is actually not on the menu. The 4 meatballs were huge, halfway split, and a little chewy but still good, with the noodles being on the skinny side. The broth looks a little murky but was bursting with flavor as always from all the herbs. It's a very good broth. Lots of rare steak in this bowl and not too much tripe, which is how I like it.

No sawtooth herb is offered here, but you order bean sprouts cooked already like my dad does. I don't like bean sprouts either way, cooked or raw and often leave them out in my bowl of pho'.

Mom ordered the Hu Tieu Tom Kho (Vermicelli with Shrimp without soup). Actually the soup is brought out in a separate bowl. Mom gobbled it up. Their hu tieu here has never disappointed.

The service I've noticed was not on par as it has been in the past. They actually messed up my mom's order intially and brought out Hu Tieu Tom Cua instead, but they took it back. You can see from the photo above that we were very tempted to eat it anyways. I also noticed they messed up an order for another table next to us, but that other table was not as forgiving. Can't stand rude customers. Even though they messed up the orders, the food comes out lightning fast. You can't complain.

Hubby order Pho Dac Biet as always. Their special bowl of pho has a good balance when it comes to ingredients. Not too much tendons, a good amount of rare steak.

Vietnam House never fails to disappoint our appetite for things Vietnamese.

Gooooooooooooood morning Vietnam......................House!

Am I the only one who made that reference? Come on that movie is a classic. Wait I think I am dating myself. Not dating like unofficial yelp date, dating. More like I am letting you young kids now I was 45 when that movie with Robin Williams came out.

Anyhow...you know how us old folks like to ramble. Let me get back to the review.

So this place is a pretty big Vietnamese restaurant. And they got an actual full Vietnamese menu, not just pho or salad roll pho eva!

The servers were really nice and helpful cuz we ended up over ordering. And one of the things we got was 7 course beef. I never seen this before or heard or it but the name alone got me excited.

First off the egg rolls are huge. You ever seen that chubby girl with the super fat fingers or toes that look like egg rolls ready to explode? Yeah well imagine that, but imagine that chick is wearing flip flops exposing her giant bursting toes and she for some reason is 20 feet tall. Now that's about the size of these egg rolls. 5 fingers of them. Or toes.

And wow they were the best egg rolls I ever had. Now to the nitty gritty.

The 7 courses of beef. It was a ton of food, basically you are wrapping your own rolls with it. They give you rice paper and hot water to dip the paper in and make your own roll.

They gave us a tutorial. Anyhow it was course after course of beef, each one unique, each one tasty, each one filling.

I have been a hermit for the past year and haven't really written any new review material but I came out of hiatus for beef. And not just any beef. 7 courses of it, here at Vietnam House. I swear I must have eaten over 3000 calories in this meal.

And I loved every calorie of it.

Just as good as it should be.. They are always busy, and the service is no less than expected. (NO better either), But we come to eat, cheap and delicious food. AND THEY HAVE IT ALL. Come by, and my favorite is still just caddy-corner from here, (The ALWAYS packed, Golden Deli).

Good service for an asian place :)
the food here takes a little longer then the average pho place (or maybe i was starving..but im pretty sure it was longer then normal)

but it was worth it!  Yummy pho for sure!  I got the tri tip with rare steak .. all very good

friend got the chicken pho..it was a little sweeter.  Ive never had chicken at a pho spot before and they used shredded chicken..not really into that

big big restaurant. lots of seating.  But it was pretty busy.  A lotta other older asian people eating there :)

average bowl i think was $5.50! yay

This is the "sister" restaurant to Golden Deli, which is across the street and less crowded.  They have pretty much the same menu and they taste the same.  My favorite, of course, is PHO TAI, which is noodles with rare steak.  The fried egg rolls are good (if you dont want the lettuce, cucumbers, mint, etc., tell them and they will replace it with an extra egg roll).

If you like Golden Deli, then this restaurant is the perfect substitute.  Same owner, not crowded, and is only across the street.

I eat lunch here all the time. I would go more often if it were closer to my home. The atmosphere could be better, but they have the BEST food.

From the time I began my Asian food adventure, my Vietnamese friends (Stefanie and family) always asked if I ever had the Seven Courses of Beef.

Finally, this week, I did.  It was great.  The price at Vietnam House is just right and they serve enough for two people to share one order.

The portions are small enough so you are not overwhelmed.   Beware of the dipping sauce (fermented fish sauce) it's super delicious but also super salty.  The next day I felt a little, well, bloated.  Make sure to drink lots of water to dilute the sodium.

We also ordered the Vietnamese BBQ sampler.  Shrimp and beef.  It was really, really tasty.

I'll post my pictures as soon as I get them.  Other yelpers have pictures of the Seven Courses of Beef.

YUM-O!

Not to far away is the Golden Deli and I'm really looking forward to trying that.

I love vietnamese food and have been coming here (and Golden Deli) since I was lil... always had good experiences here with nearly everything on the menu... obviously there are some things on the menu better then others and there may be other places that do a few of the menu items better... but considering the variety of options that are still done well, all in one restaurant, it's great and very often a safe bet :)

The bo 7 mon is decent and always fun. The com tam and  bun is good... i almost always get the pho here. The cha gio is a good size, fresh and crunchy, with a balance of meat and wrapper. I'd say pass on the banh beo, and cheers! to the soda chanh.

3.5 stars...

Vietnam House was quite awesome, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't quite right.  Some dishes didn't pack the flavorful punch that they appeared they might, or should... leaving me wanting more.  And most things were well lubed in grease.  I'm typically a lubricative sustenance fan but this got to be a bit much as my date and I ate many courses, all of which were surely greased.  I'd go back but I think my next SGV trip will have me trying a new place as there are so many options...

FYI: This place is hellacheap.
