This place is nostalgic to my childhood so I maybe be a bit bias on the review.  But omg .. their stuff is amazing.  I remember when I was little that my parents would trek to Niles to get their amazing cakes.  I thought they shut down until later on my birthday I was given a box of small cakes and I had to ask where it was from.  The answer was Vienna..and then I was told they are now on Mowry next to the Bev-Mo.  Ok I haven't lived in Fremont for awhile...so I was a bit outdated.  I went in the other day to get a Lemon Sour Cream cake and it was amazing.  Reasonably priced.
Another great discovery was that the same owner of Aki's bakery in San Jose owns this place.  So they take Aki cake orders at this location for pickup.  No more traveling to San Jose to get my favorite Guava Cake!  But you do need to call ahead to order.
This is definitely my GO-TO bakery!  I LOVE!

Last weekend we threw a birthday bash for a coworkers 40th. When we had a last  minute disaster with the cake falling down an entire flight of stairs.
Vienna Bakery was there in a pinch. A yummy chocolate cake was picked up and was soooo good. Everyone enjoyed it. I would recommend them any day. They have never let us down.
BTW, I crave their guava cakes. I mean its THAT serious ;)

Been here a few times mainly for their cakes and pastries.

Guava chiffon cake was excellent (highly recommend)!  The Princess cake was not bad either.  I personally like the fresh cream cakes, so I haven't tried the butter-cream cakes.

for those reviewer who've had dry cakes... I say you bring your cakes back and show them; and I believe their (usual) great service would replace it for free.

Ordered a Blackberry Fruit Tart that looked fantastic but after eating only a few bites left a helluva lot to be desired. Together with an eclair my total was almost $10!! For that kind of money I expect perfection, and that was far from the case.

The custard had absolutely no flavor, the tart itself was hard and bland, and the berries left an utterly awful aftertaste.

I feel like it was either old, or there was something wrong with the berries.

I won't be coming back on my own accord ever again. Plenty of other places to find baked goods.

The one redeeming factor was that my brother really liked the eclair... But he wasn't the one who dropped big dough on some really awful... dough.

Great selection of cakes and pastries. Their cupcakes are good-- lots of flavor and not too sweet. My fave is the guava cupcake. I didn't think I could find a better guava cake outside of Hawaii than Aki's Bakery in San Jose, but Vienna's guava cake is pretty darned good!
I also tried a slice of their coconut cake and was hoping for something similar to haupia cake. Unfortunately, not even close.  The coconut cake was too sweet and was more like a white cake with shredded coconut rather than a coconut flavored cake. Skip it!
All their danishes and pastries look good though. Would love to try em one day!

Been wanting to check this place out & my daughter and I happened to be in the area. Not busy at all around 2 pm...one customer being helped @ the counter for a future order. So I waited...and waited...and waited. I saw at least 3 other employees talking in the back. After a while, one of them came to the front only to join the other one already helping the customer @ the counter. Neither one bothered to acknowledge our presence--no "we'll be with you in a minute". NADA!!! Too much for that personal service I've been reading about, so we turned around and walked out.

I don't care how good your product is, if you don't seem like you're willing to sell it, I would gladly spend my money some place else.  I could move next-door to this place and I would not hesitate to go out of my way for other bakeries that have been consistently providing us with great service and awesome cakes and pastries!  I just wanted to satisfy my curiosity, but I am not that desperate.

So i went here to order a cake for my baby shower.

I was unsure of what exactly I wanted (had a general idea), but the staff was not very helpful. The girl that helped us was not the friendliest person. But what ever, thats fine. So when I finally decided what i wanted the cost came up to$150 for a half sheet covered in fondant with zebra stripe fondant pieces and a bow in corner! Geeze they are over priced! But it is for my baby shower and this is my first so we paid the $150! Oh and on a side note, I asked for a cup of water while we were ordering a $150 cake and the girl said "all we have is tap water"!!

For $150 i was expecting exactly what i wanted. But when my mom went to go pick it up there were only zebra stripes on the sides! What the heck! $150 for a plain white piece of fondant with zebra stripes only on the sides! That is NOT at all what we asked for! So they hurried up and put more stripes on the rest of the cake! You could  completely tell the difference between the ones done before and the ones they sloppily hurried to put on! Ugh i was so frustrated and already stressed out!!!

When it was time to serve the cake, the sides were bulging out and the fondant was cracking!! This was the first and last time that we will ever order from Vienna Bakery!

Oh the taste of the cake was just mediocre. I ordered white cake with raspberry filling. It tasted just slightly better than that of a safeway cake!

It was my dads birthday and he's a huge fan of cupcakes and since I didn't want to drive all the way to Kara's or Sprinkles, I yelped a place for good cupcakes and got referred here and read a lot about their guava cupcakes so I decided to go there instead. Picked up half a dozen of guava cupcakes- they were so DRY. They were so dry that my family didn't eat them- and that's saying something cause we eat everything.

I Yelped this place after seeing it on the way to get my hair done next door.  I was glad to see 4 stars rating.
I always like to try new bakery and was excited to check this place out.
After reading the reviews, I planned to get their guava cupcake.
Fortunately, my sister already got some and we both tried it.  I didn't taste the guava at all. Although the cake was moist and the frosting was fluffy.. I wasn't impressed.
I went in and got the grand marnier cake and the peach torte.
Grand Marnier cake was ok, too sweet, and I didn't quite like the flavor combination.  the peach torte was not my liking.

Beautiful wedding cake and yummy! It turns out their sister site, A Piece of Cake Bakery, is actually the site that made the wedding cake. I provided my own pink ribbons which I got at Michael's. I ordered a 3-tiered cake with swiss dots at each tier to serve 300 people. I would suggest just get enough for 150 guests... at least for a Chinese wedding banquet cause I had so much cake leftover! I ordered the mocha truffle cake with buttercream. I warn you--GOOD but super, super greasy! I would suggest maybe something else, not the buttercream... or ask for a thin layer of it. If only I could pick the guava cake, but it wouldn't have been possible cause it needed to be refrigerated and couldn't sit out for more than two hours.

Additional notes: 1) Our wedding cake was stable the whole night and came out great! 2) Don't forget to return the cake pillars and plates from each tier. 3) Thanks Sharon, the wedding cake coordinator-- extra star!

    Ah, long overdue review!

This is my definition of a typical one-that-you-see-in-the-movies bakery. When you walk in, there's the classic bakery look with display cases of cakes, cookies, and pastries. I felt like a kid in a candy shop, oogling at all the sweets.

They had generous-sized samples out on the counter, so naturally I sampled each one. ;) I tummied away one sample of guava cake and two samples of the pumpkin chiffon cake. As you can see, I was an instant fan of the pumpkin chiffon. The cake was moist, the cream was light, and altogether it was heaven in yo mouth. I'm definitely returning in November, since the pumpkin rapture is a seasonal thing. Bummer, I know!

And as for ordering personalized cake, stick to really simple flowers or something. I've ordered two cakes through them, one with hand-pipped artwork and one with screen imprints. No idea who did the hand-pipped artwork, but I can assure you that I would've done a heckuva better job than the icing mound that ended up on my cake. As for the screened imprint... what was supposed to be a white/clear background came out blue. Tad awkward looking.

Passed by here after a work event and was heading back to the office.  It was my co-workers birthday and wanted to stop by to get him cake.  I ordered their tiramisu and it was delicious!  Best one I had so far and we had it the next day.  Everyone enjoyed it.

Supposively they are the same owners who own Aki's bakery in San Jose that makes guava cake.  Now you can also get it here.  They have more selections of cakes here then Aki's so I'm excited to find this place and looking forward to trying their other selections of cakes.  They also sell variety of pastries and cookies.

This is more of a 3.5 star review.

I've only had 2 types of cakes here, the Guava Chiffon & the burnt almond.

Guava I've had/ordered on numerous occasions, both in cake and in cupcake. It's always been delicious, light and fluffy. Definitely fits it's name.

I ordered the Burnt Almond this week for my BF's birthday. He really likes the burnt almond at a place in San Jose, but when I heard Vienna has it too, I was like SCORE..  Unfortunately.. this cake was way too sweet. Don't get me wrong. I definitely have a sweet tooth. I love cake and frosting and candy and chocolate.. but wow. i could barely finish my slice. and it was a thin slice of cake. It was so overtly sweet, I could feel cavaties forming! I don't know if that's their standard, or it was just mine, but wow, I will never be ordering a burnt almond from there again.

    I'll stick to guava, thanks!

I've been to this bakery more than a few times.  The cakes and cookies are generally pretty good.  They have a nice selection and the service is typically good.  I would normally rate the bakery with 4 stars but the last time I visited I ordered a large fruit torte with a sponge base.  I was a little shocked that the price came to $50, but I was in a rush and didn't have time to shop around.  My wife went to pick it up and we brought it to the restaurant for a birthday.  It turned out the girl at the counter put in the order for a cake with fruit topping.  I don't expect everyone to know the difference between a cake and a torte but in the bakery I do.  The cake was fine, but this obviously made for a bad experience and shows the inadequacies of the staff.  When dealing with some of dullards that work here be sure that they get your order right.

I was seized by a horrific craving for a guava cupcake or a piece of guava cake, but I wasn't willing to drive any further into San Jose to get it. Yelp search brought up this place for both.

Today was apparently my lucky day, as that day's free sample happened to be guava cake, and it was delicious. However, they only had whole cakes left so in the interest of not being a COMPLETE fatty, I decided to just get a couple of the cupcakes to go.

The guava flavor was subtle, and the frosting was not too sweet, but I think I actually liked the cake better.

Cute place though - the next time i get a sweet cheat day craving, I'll definitely be back to try some of the other pastries!

I love this bakery! The staff is welcoming and are friendly to my kids. I ordered a 1/2 sheet guava cake make by Aki's bakery and everything turned out exactly the way I wanted. The cakes are all decorated at Vienna and the girls did a great job. They also helped me come up with a design that would match our party theme and colors. :) I highly recommend this bakery for cakes. I will be back to try out the other types of cakes.

My family has had a bunch of cakes from Vienna Bakery.

Got a monstrous sheet cake for my graduation party. It was decked out with SJSU colors and decorated beautifully.

We got a huge tiered cake for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. The delivery guy accidentally brought the WRONG cake...but quickly went back and got the right one.

Where they really shine in my eyes is their everyday walk-in selection. If you're having a fat day or maybe its holiday, its totally worth it. After FINALLY making a client happy (sorta) I got a cup of coffee and one of their guava cupcakes which I heard of on Yelp. The cupcakes were definitely unique!

While they're great for events, just come in and get a cupcake and a tart for no reason.

    2 words: Guava Cake

I didn't even know such amazing thing existed.

Since I haven't tried it before, I was only going to buy one cupcake, but they had samples on the counter so I tried it and end up buying more. I tell ya, it's pure delicious-ness! I also sampled their pound cake which was really good. But the guava cake mMmMm!

The guava cupcake is around $2. One slice of guava cake is around $4. The whole cake is $24 (yes I asked because I was so tempted to buy it).

I recommend going on Tuesdays or Fridays because that's when they get new orders in. New orders = lots of guava cake! You need to go and get their guava cake, NOW. well they're closed now but go ASAP.

By far, this is my place to go when it comes down to delectable treats and fresh gourmet style pastries. For the past two years, this has been a common grounds for me to drop by to. Like any other bake shop, it looks and feels like nothing out of the blue.

The difference though is the quality and freshness of their products. I tend to stay away from a lot of baked goods and pastries because they either have an over-the-top buttery taste or leaves an unsettling feeling in my stomach afterwards. Too much sugar or too much tartness - many bakeries out there fail to balance the ingredients within their sweet treats.

Since I was buying for a few people back at work, I stocked up today on a couple of plain croissants (best in the Bay I've ever had), chocolate croissants, a fruit tart and a guava cupcake (didn't realize they make these too now!). I believe the owner was working behind the register and was kind enough to offer me a full sized strawberry croissant. Thank you!

The filling they use for their fruit pastries are incredible; a hint of sweetness but the flavor of REAL fruit is really what stands out. They do not taste chemically or overly processed. Pure and simple ingredients do the job just fine. As for the chocolate infused within their croissants, its heaven. A dark bittersweet flavor gives the soft pastry a nice texture to it, completing the top and sides with a generous sprinkle of dark cocoa powder. Yum.

My brother in law, who lived in Germany all his life, had a chance to try several varieties of pastries and danishes. His review? As good as, if not better, than some of the bakeries he has been to in Europe.

    Enough said.

From danishes, cookies, and their colorful assortment of cakes, there is not one single item that I did not like from Vienna. Bon appetit!

I came here and ordered some guava cupcakes for a party. The cupcakes were good! They were nice and moist and full of yummy guava flavor.
This bakery has a decent selection of cookies, cakes, pastries, etc. I also picked up a breakfast pastry which was not bad.
I wish they offered more flavor cupcakes! but I'd definitely return for the guava.
Prices are normal bakery prices...cupcakes were $2.25 ea and cookies and pastries were $2+.

All of my years living in Fremont and Union City I can't believe I have not seen or heard of this Sweet little jewel!

I stumbled upon this bakery in my attempt to get to Bev-Mo early. Apparently 30 min too early so I wandered around and walked right into the bakery. A cute, quaint little spot with 5 tables for two to enjoy coffee and a pastry. They have a vast selection of everything from cardamom cookies to guava cake and fruit tarts to the special of the day.. Irish soda bread. Fitting for it being St. Patrick's day!

Every few minutes as I sit and sip my coffee with the jazzy tunes playing in the background, a customer or two come in and pick up it place an order. The older lady behind the counter, I believe her name is Nancy is a cute homey lady who seems to know all of her regular customers by first name.

I'm so happy I stumbled across this bakery, good coffee and delicious pastries ! I tries the powdered cheese Danish and it's the lightest, perfectly balanced sweetness of a Danish I've tasted in a long time!!

Oh and they are looking for a decorator... Hmm maybe I'll just inquire!

Vienna Bakery where have you been my whole life? This is one of the best bakeries in Fremont...actually it might be the only good bakery in Fremont.

All their cakes are moist and delicious and their tortes are to die for. I got one of my besties a banana split cake from here and was impressed by how enjoyable it was. It was not overly sweet despite the name and I appreciated the time and effort they took into decorating it. The service here is always a plus and they make sure to help you pick out the perfect treat to have. In addition, they thoroughly explain to you each cake flavor and what are the best combination to make if you are not choosing one of their specialty cakes.

Some of my favorite treats here are:
    1. Guava cupcakes
    2. Banana split cake
    3. Any of the fruit tortes ;)
    4. TIRAMISU!

I normally only come here for the guava cake or cupcakes. I love the guava cake! Super good and the price isn't bad for a whole cake!

I've tried a few of their other cakes and wasn't too thrilled or wowed by them. Therefore I still to the guava.

I have yet to try their pastries or other goodies but sure enough one day when I feel like a fatty and am next door at bevmo buying my liquor; I'll make sure to swing by and stock up on some goodies.

Verdict: GUAVA = YUM and the workers are always chipper and ready to help ya.

Oh em gee. I almost didn't want to review this place to keep this delicious guava cake secret! But I could never do that to such a place.  It has a cafe feel, with a few tables and free wifi. They have a variety of treats from cakes to pastries to cookies. I wanted to try so many things but I was set on that guava cupcake.

When I walked in there were a few other people there, and sadly I was not greeted and was pretty much ignored until all those people in front of me had left. Not cool. A simple "Hi" and "I'll be right with ya" would have sufficed.

Anyhow, I ordered a guava cupcake and vanilla chai. They have a few flavors of chai that all look and sound yummy but I went with the lady behind the counter's recommendation. Once it was cooled I scarfed that sucker down!

My cupcake was watching me in the car, and I was so excited I dipped my finger into the frosting in the car on the way home and oh my...so good! Guava whipped cream is a winner. The cake is so light airy and fluffy and tastes like guava! OH man...I want one NOW!

I plan on returning very soon to try that burnt almond cake that was calling my name, and to sit and have a vanilla chai!

Now that I'm suddenly starving all of the time I am in a constant search for some type of snack.

I was on Mowry and noticed a bagel place in the same shopping center.  But then noticed it was attached to a Subway Sandwich, and I didn't want anything to do with a Subway Sandwich place.

This place is in the same shopping center though so I headed over here instead.

I was disappointed because they didn't have sandwiches.  Just cakes and pastries.  I needed real sustenance, not cake.

They did have these Ham & Egg breakfast roll things.  They were just sitting on the counter and I don't like Ham so I passed.  Then she offered a Spinach Cheese Croissant.

I took it.  However, she didn't offer to heat it up or anything.  It kind of sucked at room temperature.  I cant even say it was cold it was just meh temperature.

That Guava Cake looked really good.  But I needed real food and the Croissant was the closest thing I could get.  I just wish it was warmed up a little bit.

I would come back to try that cake though.

Vienna Bakery is the best non-Filipino/Chinese bakery in the Tri City area I've found yet.  They have a lot of interesting items which aren't found elsewhere nearby like cardamon cookies, poppy seed squares, linzer tortes, and almond paste cookies.  Probably the closest competitors they have are Esther's German Bakery in Mountain View and Copenhagen Bakery in Burlingame.

Haven't tried the cakes yet, but would probably stick to the Austrian cakes rather than go with the secondhand guava cake recipe.  C'mon people, it says VIENNA BAKERY.  Vienna is not really known for its guava.

** Update:  The bakery owner messaged and said Aki's and Vienna actually have the same owner, so it's a firsthand recipe ;).  I'd still urge the Guava-heads to try some of the Viennese cakes, as they can hold their own.  He mentioned that poppy seed coffee cake and tort is available that are not on the usual menu, woo hoo!

Recently, I have been on a quest to find the best croissants in the bay area and I have to try Vienna's.  I have to say their croissants (butter, chocolate, and almond) are pretty good (**** 4-stars for the croissants).  The butter croissants are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.  None of that grocery store airy croissants.  I go to Paris, France every year end of Dec thru Jan, and we do have croissants and baguette for breakfast everyday, so I do know what I'm talking about.  The only reason I took off one star is because of a couple of things.  The almond croissant does not have frangipane filling.  Its has this almond flavored gu that is tasty but overly sweet.  The chocolate croissants are good because my 2 boys just devoured it.  And they are quite picky like me on their pain au chocolat.  The butter croissant has very good flavor but its a little too buttery that it leaves a butter stain on the paper bag which makes it unappetizing to eat.  But the flavor and the right crispiness are there.
Now for the desserts - I honestly would only give them 3 to max 3.5 on desserts.  Most of them are way too sweet.  I think they will still be really good if they just cut back a little on the sugar and keep everything the same.  The Guava cake is indeed from Aki's and is nice and moist however still very sweet.
I was thrilled to find Burnt Almond Cake on their display case and ordered one right away.  To my disappointment, its nothing close to Dick's or Peter's in San Jose.  Its just very sweet frosting with almond sprinkles.  No buttery or burnt taste and the cake is just plain white cake you can find at Safeway or Raleys.  I was hoping they could be better.
Their chocolate cakes are moist and the frosting are good but again, same downside - too sweet.  One good thing is, its way too sweet that even me with a sweet tooth have to stop eating before I finish one slice.
Anyway, I will be coming back here for the croissants.  One issue is they only make like 4-5 pieces of each kind, therefore, they go fast!

    Guava cupcakes are freaking delicious.

Grab a dozen for yourself and then grab a dozen for sharing. These cupcakes are so moist and light that you can multiples in a sitting without ending up with dense cake rolling around in your mouth.

    2 guava cupcakes + 1 snickerdoodle = $6

The cupcakes are small (in comparison to the cupcakes that they serve at Crumbs in NY) and delicious, and the icing is light and fluffy. I like the texture a lot! I was expecting the snickerdoodle to be chewy, but it kinda fell apart like a shortbread cookie instead. waaahh!

The guava cake and cupcakes are the ONLY reason why i come to this bakery. Try everything else at your own risk, teehee!

Best Guava cake I ever ate. I think this place tastes better than Aki's in San Jose. It's not as sweet and the cake is super soft. I am NOT a cake fan and I rarely come across cakes that I like to eat.

Also, this place has excellent service. I came here on a rainy day to pick up a birthday cake and I over heard the cashier offer to bring the cake to the customers car if they pull up to the front.

Out of croissants. Out of Swedish princess cake by the slice. Tried a almond horseshoe with chocolate dipped ends generically called "French pastry" for $2.35
Have to try before 1:30pm sometime.

Given the stellar reviews of this bakery, I was expecting something exceptional, but I was sadly disappointed. The only positive attribute of this bakery was the variety of tarts, cakes, and cookies and the cute interior. It was otherwise a letdown. The service was pretty poor- the girl who took my order seemed fairly distant (which I could deal with) but she also had no idea how to retrieve the internet passcode for their wifi. The lemon tart I got was overly sweet and the half-and-half cake ridiculously dry. The mocha I ordered similarly failed to live up to expectations. It was so bland I had to chuck it after a few sips. Perhaps the hype is true and I came at a bad time, but having been so put off by my visit I doubt I will be returning.

First thought that came to my mind when I took my first bite of the Guava cake: Hawaii.

Yes, the guava cake here is that good! Hawaii is known for their passion fruit, guava, and all that tropical goodness. Who knew that Vienna Bakery could make guava cake just as tasty.

My sister's birthday was coming up and she loves guava so I searched for a bakery that made guava cakes. Vienna Bakery came up on yelp and I decided to give them a try. I placed an order for a cake that serves 10-12 people. The cost- $25.50! $25.50 is one hell of a deal. My whole family loved the cake! They said it was one of the best cakes they've ever eaten. It's not too sweet either which is a plus because my family isn't big on sweets.

Vienna Bakery has a European theme. They have many pastries and cookies. Unfortunately I did not get to try any of them because I was in a rush. It's a very clean and cute bakery. The prices are very reasonable. I'm happy that this bakery is so close to my house, so I get to go back and try all the other goodies!

I highly recommend the guava cake!

I got my friend a guava cake here before and it was BEAUTIFUL (pink cream and pink cake) and DELICIOUS.  The price was really reasonable as well (around $20-30).  I highly recommend it!

I love many things about Vienna, least of which is that thcakes, pastries, etc. are  not overly sweet!

There are many good things from the pastries to the cakes (guava, bavarian peach?, passionfruit [gotta be ok with tangy tho] and chocolate varietes) to the fruit tarts and [can't forget] the brownies! Of course there's always the tiramisu! Yum!

    Good coffee too!

The staff has been pleasant and professional.

If all of that decadent goodness isn't enough for you, BevMo is next door! woohoo!

This place is SO cute! I had the opportunity to stop by earlier today (thank goodness they open at 7 am!) and despite being lost I was able to call up Vienna and find it! The staff was very friendly and accommodating even though I placed a huge order in the morning.

I left with some lattes, scones, muffins and other pastries including a red velvet cupcake. The scones were, by far, the most delicious scones I've ever tasted. I don't even really like scones but the bf likes them so I decided to give the almond one a try. It was delicious, moist, and perfectly balanced with the almond flavoring not being overpowering on the scone. The croissant was delicious, soft and flakey as well!

Their coffee was a little bit bitter but I could deal with that. However ... here is the warning ... although they are co-owned by Aki Bakery and a Piece of Cake I don't think I would ever come here to get a cake because my red velvet was a catastrophe.

First, red velvets usually have cream cheese or creamy buttery frosting. This one was dyed in all sorts of colors that affect the look of your mouth and tongue after you take a bite and they were much too sweet, not very creamy or buttery. I can barely tell it's cream cheese so maybe it's not. Second, their cake is very dry almost like a drier version of a sponge cake AND they use heavy, industrial dyes. It's been a few hours and my tongue is still red from two small bites. The fork I used is plastic but permanently stained. I don't think I'd want this inside me.

PLEASE BE WARNED. If you plan on buying a flavored cake here, they are very liberal with their dyes and this stuff stains your insides!
